    fool me once ... (5/9/23)

I now work super close by - I hadn't been here in a good ten years! (I used to love their eggplant pizza). As Im waiting for my order, I see the sign about charging 3% extra for card pmts - WTH - almost none of the (good!) restaurants I frequent even do this! Another thing that Im ticked off about is my bill total - holy crap! One Sicilian pie, 20 wings and a chicken Caesar salad ... $68 - OMG!!! The wings were $30! This price wasn't what the online menu had listed - buyer beware! Okay - dinner is now done - the "fam" flipped for the pizza and wings - rave reviews! My salad was pretty good - very good and a plentiful chicken, but stale croutons and I could've used another dressing. Ill be back but 1 - with cash in hand and 2 - a smaller wing order!

Meatball pizza- thin crust and tasty topping.

During the Covid times, we've had to resort to occasional take out options. To be honest, once take out or food delivery is usually disappointing in quality when it arrives on the table. This past year, we've ordered a few times from here and we have not yet regretted it. Our choices are the baked ziti pizza, meatball pizza, wings, chicken parm sandwiches and hoagies. We've liked everything so far. There is a $2 delivery charge which is worth it since we have had prompt arrival at the time requested I'm glad to support a small business during these times.

This place is a gem. I grew up behind it and always try to make it here for a meal every time I come back to NJ. I love a mom and pop joint and this one never disappoints. This time we got some panzarottis, a side salad, cheese fries, a couple of slices, and some onion rings-the perfect Friday night dinner!!

Solid pizza and salad from this spot. I've tried the margherita, stuffed veggie and white pizza and they were delicious. I loved the spring mix salad with portobello mushrooms and mozzarella too.

We ate here tonight for the first time and it did not disappoint. The woman who served us was the perfect amount friendly and helpful...not too much where you want her to go away but always there when you need something. We got bruschetta and garlic knots as soon as our drinks were delivered which was perfect for our kid to eat while we ordered. Bruschetta was fresh and tasteful. Extensive menu. Food came out quickly, nice atmosphere, good dimmer lights and quiet but not too quiet. I love my dish...chicken francaise. Kids eat free Wednesday's and Sundays! Would def go back.

Nice selection of Italian dinners and pizzas. Delivery is good and food is always hot. Great large wings! Pizza is constantly good. Super cheesey baked ziti. Great friendly service.

Great local Italian spot in the south jersey area, probably one of the best in the area. Pretty much all their pizza and pasta dishes are good. You can't go wrong with what you order. The eggplant parm is phenomenal. The chicken parm is also really good.

Who cuts a hoagie like this? This is the worst hoagie I've ever had. Paid for extra cheese and didn't get it.

On a recent trip to the Philadelphia area, I visited Angelo's Pizzeria. My fiance is a big fan of…read morethe pizza, and wanted to first try it after hearing Dave Portnoy's rave review from One Bite. Since his first time trying it, we make it a point to stop anytime we are passing through the area. Angelo's is a very popular pizza restaurant located in South Philly, near the corner of South 9th and Fitzwater, and also the Palumbo Playground/Rec Center. For those who are tourists, it is also not far from where Pat's and Geno's are both located. Parking here can be challenging, as it is in the middle of South Philly. Sometimes, I have had to circle around. Other times, I have gotten lucky with a street spot somewhat close by. There is a now closed Rite Aid about a block down, and I have parked in that lot before to go and order/pick up my food. If you have someone with you, it might be easier to drop someone off and circle around until they are done. It will depend on the day and time, but each time I have visited parking has been a little bit of a struggle. The signage, as well as the crowd outside, will let you know exactly where the shop is. It is clearly marked with a black awning. The Pizzeria is a quaint shop, and there is no seating. When you enter, you walk right up to the counter to either order or pick up your food. I visited here on a Saturday in September, when I was in the area for a football game. On this day, I was coming in from Chester. So, I was about 30 minutes away. I thought I would attempt to call ahead, and then hopefully my food would be ready around my arrival. Unfortunately, this did not work out. I am not sure if they just do not answer the phone, or if they will stop answering once they hit a certain threshold of orders. However, I tried calling a plethora of times on my way to the store, but no one ever answered the phone. I understand this and am not necessarily complaining, but I wanted to include this here in case someone else is trying to call in an order and cannot get through. I arrived at the store just before 4:00 PM. I went right in and placed my order with one of the employees. Once you place the order, they take your name and phone number. You will get a text message when the order is done, and they provide an estimated wait time at the counter. This is nice, as you know exactly when to head back and when your order is ready. My order only took about 20 minutes to be prepared. When the order is ready, you come back into the store and get in the line on the right side. They will ask for your name, and you pay at that time. I also visited here last month, on a Sunday evening around 6:00 PM. I had a similar experience with wait time for my pizza on this trip as well - about 20 minutes until it was ready from when we placed the order. After getting the pizza, I decided I wanted to try a Cheesesteak. So, I placed my order for the sandwich and only waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready. We have always enjoyed the food from here. The pizza is hot, fresh, and has just the right amount of crispiness. We have gotten the Pepperoni and Sausage each time, and it does not disappoint. The pizza also reheats well, as we typically eat some and then take the rest home to enjoy over the next few days. The Cheesesteak was amazing. It is definitely better than any of the other tourist-type locations in the area. The bread was toasted well, and the mixture of the meat and cheese just tastes divine. I also added onions to mine, which was a nice variety in terms of texture. I will definitely be ordering this, along with my pizza, on all of my return visits. This place is good quality, and for that reason it is a good value. Our pizza is usually in the $35 range, but as stated it is well-prepared and has a nice amount of toppings. The Cheesesteak was slightly less than $20, which is comparable to other spots in the area. However, the quality on this one is through the roof. So, though it is a little pricey here overall, it is worth it for the product. The staff here are very friendly, quick, and efficient. Though they deal with these large crowds seemingly everyday, they are always pleasant to interact with. My waits for food are always less than they say, and I appreciate their hard work! I would love to see some type of online or phone ordering system for this location, as I know it exists for their other spot about 10 minutes away. As an FYI, they used to be cash-only, but started taking cards sometime in the past few months. This is a must-try spot in South Philly, both for locals and visitors. It is so popular that they are opening another location, as of May 2026. The food is worth the wait, and the sometimes hassle, that comes with ordering here. You can even make some friends while you wait for your order. I highly recommend Angelo's to anyone thinking about giving it a try! I am already looking forward to my next trip here and trying more of their menu.

This place couldn't have come with higher recommendations. The line was long, but we ordered within…read more15 minutes and the cheesesteak we ordered was ready in another 15-20 minutes. Being that I'm not from the east coast, and these are known as Philly cheesesteaks, I was super excited to try the food and even more so when I saw that the restaurant was Michelin rated. 100% I would rather have hunger pains than eat another meal here. The meat was bland and mushy. The fried onions were undercarmelized. The peppers were non existent. The sesame bread was tougher than I expected and super heavy on the sesame... which could've been ok, but because of the blandness of the protein... really dominated the taste profile of the hoagie. I feel like west coast people just have different expectations when it comes to what we expect from our food. I am a foodie and we have such a high standard as a baseline and this was not it. Sorry Philly... we got better cheesesteaks out here. You all should come visit.
