Upon my arrival I was greeted by two members of the front desk team. They were both warm and welcoming. The reception area, as well as the treatment rooms, appeared to be brand new. They were fresh, bright, squeaky clean, well lit, contemporary in décor, and yet, very calming. All of these qualities are very important to me. Right on time, I was led back to a sun-filled treatment room by one of the Dental Assistants, Daniel. I can't say enough good things about Daniel. He's an all-around good guy, and most importantly, he's a caring, highly experienced professional. The treatment room had all of the latest in technology necessary to assure a successful and comfortable outcome. After a series of x-rays were taken, Daniel introduced me to the dentist, Dr. Mirmonsef. She's great! After taking a few minutes to get to know me and my dental history, Dr. Mirmonsef took the time to explain every step of the process, which really helped put me at ease. The procedure itself was smooth and completely painless. She checked in with me frequently to make sure I was comfortable, and the new crown fits perfectly--it looks and feels completely natural. I truly appreciated the attention to detail and the genuine care that Dr. Mirmonsef and her team showed throughout my visit. I left feeling confident in the work that was done and grateful to have such a trustworthy dental team. Highly recommended!

I was told an old filling was done incorrectly and needed to be revised as a precautionary measure, I agreed to it without too much thought (though in retrospect it's odd that no other dentist thought it was an issue in the three years since I first had it done). Right after the filling was redone I could tell the bite was off but before I could say anything the dentist left the room, I asked the hygienist (twice) to see if she could check it again and she went to ask the dentist to come look again and the dentist refused. The next day I was in even more discomfort and came back and it was ever so slightly adjusted. I said I was still in pain and it didn't feel right and was told to just trust and come back in a week. I waited it out for a week even thought it felt horrible and was giving me jaw pain and headaches in addition to tooth sensitivity and got it adjusted more then. I asked if I could come back again if I was still having pain to get it adjusted further and was told no, they had already done all that was possible. Several weeks later, the pain progressed to where it hurt to drink water or eat. At that point I went to a different dentist who told me that it's unclear if any additional work on that filling was needed in the first place, that by going in and digging deeper they had irritated the nerve, and that the bite had not been revised sufficiently, contributing to continued nerve irritation. Between the digging deeper into the tooth and having the incorrect bite for several weeks my nerve was extremely inflamed, to the point that now I need a root canal and crown (which in total will cost me at least $1000). On top of all this, I got a new retainer here ($400), and the bottom was workable (not great) but the top was tight/uncomfortable to the point of being unusable. I have tried via phone and email to discuss/get help about all of this and was told the dentist would contact me but she never did. TLDR; came in with zero pain, left with a lot of pain and out well over a thousand dollars in dental costs.

My daughter received a regular retainer after treatment however with her being 12 at the time she lost it!! I went back to Horsey and it was suggested to go with the permanent retainer as an alternative to her "losing it" again. I paid the $250.00 fee and the permanent retainer was placed. I was told that day, she should continue to wear the tray retainer at nights for a week and we went on our way..... fast forward 6 months later- I started noticing my daughter was beginning to form a gap, I called Horsey and came in for a visit. I was told she needed to have a 8 month treatment plan because the retainer broke and it would cost me additional money. I explained to them that I have a permanent retainer myself for well over 10 years and I haven't had an issue with mines nor have my teeth moved as I don't wear my tray at night ( this was one of the excuses I was told - my daughter was the wear the tray every night) I asked to have someone look into this issue because I didn't think it was fair to spend an additional substantial amount of money after spending well over 5k for the treatment. At this point the Dr and nurses in the back were very professional and understood my concerns. I spoke with a young lady at the front of the office, she identified herself as the "office manager, or office coordinator", I explained my situation to her and off the bat she said "it's my responsibility to make sure my child is wearing her retainer " I explained to her that I was told the permanent retainer should've fixed any issues and we were only instructed to wear it for a week. This young lady was at times combative, rolled her eyes at me and was very dismissive. She even had the nerve to lie and say I received the retainer for free, she quickly back tracked after I said I could show my receipt that I paid for it. At this point I have reserved a consult with another orthodontist, I'd rather spend the additional money elsewhere than to give it to this business.

However, it was obvious that behind their fancy facade lies the drive to pad their bottom line. My first check up here was pretty comprehensive with all the x-rays being taken and teeth properly scaled. This took approximately 45 minutes into the hour long appointment. The hygienist spent a good 10 minutes trying to explain for me why I should pay for the up charge for fluoride even though it already covered under my insurance plan. The hygienist and dentist spent the last 20 minutes of my appointment creating a sense of urgency telling me to prevent my teeth from cracking that I needed to buy from them a mouth guard, electric tooth brushes, teeth whitening, etc all of which I get for free from my dental sales rep neighbor. My second appointment consisted of a longer sales pitch than actual care. My second cleaning here with the same tech didn't even last all of 10 minutes, which is inadequate to receive a proper scaling done, she didn't even floss my teeth. I received another repeated lecture regarding why an up charge for the fluoride was highly recommended even though it was already covered by insurance. Followed by another 20 minutes berating me on why I did not want to proceed with making an mouth guard and signing up for their teeth whitening treatments. I've never had any issues with my teeth and I cannot imagine how this practice would try and extort me if I had actually had an issue with my teeth. This has left a bad taste in my mouth and I cannot recommend anyone come to this practice.

I did a lot of research on orthodontists and one of them quoted me an insane price for Invisalign and indicated my teeth would need to be pushed outwards before being able to be fixed and I couldn't just fix my crooked teeth, I needed to fix my entire alignment. I went to Dr. Bates for a second opinion and he assured me that fixing my crooked teeth alone was absolutely possible and he would do it for me for an incredibly reasonable price (and he worked with my time constraint for moving!) It was no brainer that I would go with him for my treatment. It only gets better, however. Him and his staff were absolutely incredible, nice, and insanely knowledgeable. So incredible, in fact, that after my round of Invisalign I came back of my own accord to completely align my teeth and fix my TMJ. I have no words to describe how incredibly overwhelmed I was that Dr. Bates helped stop the constant pain I had in my jaw and ear from the TMJ. I felt like crying tears of joy because it was absolutely affecting my everyday life. Although, my TMJ isn't completely gone, the everyday pain is no longer an issue. Abbey cheerfully answered my questions, explained the process, and set up the appointment. We arrived at a building tucked conveniently off Broad Street. We were greeted and my son promptly decided to start playing the free Pac-Man machine! The waiting room was large, clean, and well decorated. We were in and out in about 5 minutes. The small gesture of fixing the bracket for a kid you'll never see again really won me over. Thanks for being faithful with the small things! It really adds up to an impressive business model.
