It's unbelievable that people don't like the food here. I went with the family last week and was treated to an incredible meal with great service. The front is basically a pizza joint. Their bar area is very nice with a couple of TV's. The rear is the restaurant which is a really well designed, upscale room. We got the baked clams and they were delicious, although a little smaller than I would have liked. Salads were great but they really need to offer some dressings beside the creamy variety. Kids had pizza and it was very good. Not the best but very good. I had the Chicken Neopolitana which was incredible. My son had the fettuccine alfredo as well which was well prepared. Overall the food was really well prepared and they seem to have a good grasp on their business. It may be actually 4 stars but I can't believe anybody would give this 1 star. If you are looking for huge servings at a cheap price, this is not the place. If you are willing to pay for top quality food, you really need to check this place out. read more

I've been here before and enjoyed the food and service. I don't know what happened tonight, lack of staff, not sure, but it would have been nice to know in advance. First of all, there were 6 of us; 4 adults and 2 one year olds. We got there at 6pm and were seated right away... at 7pm- SEVEN, the waitress comes over and tells me that they were out of meatballs. First, what Italian place runs out of MEATBALLS? And 2) 7pm, it's been an HOUR since we were seated, we have 2 tiny kids and NOW you're telling me you don't have what I ordered for them? Fine, let's do ravioli for the kids instead. Finally an hour and 10 minutes after we got there, the food shows up. The kids meal is obviously not expected to be huge, but we had gotten the ravioli and I swear to God we got a plate with THREE RAVIOLI on it. THREE. Like, not 3 huge ravioli, 3 the size of store bought out of the bag regular ravioli. I'm guessing the standard kids are like 5-8 years old ordering off this menu... how would that EVER fill someone that age up? That's not enough to fill up my one year old! My husband actually got up and walked to Stop & Shop and bought them food pouches so they had something to eat. Now for the adults, I got veal parm & chicken parm was also ordered. We both agreed they were super light on the sauce, like, it was eating plain pasta, gross. And lastly... after waiting an hour and 10 minutes for our food... not even 10 minutes after the food shows up and I was actively eating, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted it wrapped up or were we still working on it. We all had completely full plates of food.... seriously??? The entire experience was a joke and it was SO disappointing. I'll give this place another shot b/c I have had good food in the past, but one more trip like that and they'll lose my business for good. read more

Extremely expensive ! Had a last min plan to get pizza for dinner and two pies, nothing crazy ... half cheese half pepperoni on one and chicken on the other... almost $45 out the door. Nothing else! Just two pizzas ... so disappointed ! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The pizza was OK but no where near $45 dollars, I was able to get specialty pizzas from other local establishments in the area at a fraction of the cost. Find someplace else to spend your money and get a quick pizza. Again very disappointed. read more

Very disappointed . Food has always been great. Ordered a specialty pizza at the counter. Wish I questioned it when the girl said it would be ready in ten minutes . Got it home and it was cold in the middle. Obviously been made in advance and reheated. How else could the crust be brown and the zucchini ice cold? When I called, then man they put on phone yelled at me and told me to come get my money back and hung up on me. Gonna miss that pizza ....... read more

Great food, delish pizza. Would have given 5 stars but I was there with 2 young kids, asked the waitstaff to bring my kids food when it was ready and it took way too long ... One was just a slice of pizza. They forgot and brought it out with my food. The quality of the food was quite good. Looks like a decent bar area, too. The food quality is top notch. We like the grandma pie because the sauce is so tasty and everything is fresh. Chicken parm is good too. Items for delivery are packaged separately so they don't get soggy. People complain about the price but I guess we would eat at McDonald's if we wanted a dollar menu. read more

I have seen some pretty stupid things in my life and this places policies certainly rank up there. I typically frequent all the other pizza places in the area and decided to give them a try. We decided to sit in the dining area which is separated by a wall from the pizza side. So we were given a menu that contained a very small amount of items. I had wanted a chicken parm hero and a slice. So the waiter comes and thats what I order and he informs me the owner does not allow pizza on the dining side or hero sandwiches. You can only order off this very small menu. This has got to be the dumbest policy for a PIZZA place I have ever heard of. I honestly thought it was a joke thats how stupid this policy is. I said so are you saying if I come in with a group of 6 people and my son doesn't like anything on the menu he can't get a slice. He said nope the owner is very strict about this policy. I said why does this policy even exist, its a pizza place. He said I have no idea owners rules. I feel bad because everyone working there was super nice and no complaints about them at all. This no pizza or 90% of the menu in the dining area defies stupidity. I will never ever go back and will just go to one of the many other places that allow you to order anything you want in the dining area. read more

The food is great as well as the ambiance. BUT, the guy that runs the place is rude. I ordered a meatball parm hero from the waitress and then she answered the phone. Then the guy comes over and looks at my order and asked if that was mine. Yes it was. Very nastily he said "we don't have any more bread". Is that my fault? What an attitude. Hello... Worts Italian restaurant ever. The food is mediocre but expensive. The average meal is about $15.I asked them to add shrimp to my order, I ended up with five shrimps and a $7 dollar plus charge. That's more than $1 for mediocre shrimp. I ordered take out. The price was about $47 and change. I gave the driver $60. She claimed she did not have any change. If the average price of takeout is relatively high, why on earth would they expect customers to have small bills(I don't think that they do). read more

Villa Positano is definitely my choice in the area for Italian American food. We have a few great places in Monroe, but I always find myself back at Positano's! Everything they make is absolutely delicious. I am never disappointed! I have read some of this bad comments and really don't agree with any of them. The pizza is good but when you are with your family and eat in the restaurant section, pizza is not allowed to be ordered- by the slice or by the pie.. I will never go there again because my son only wanted pizza and even though there were 8 others with us ordering dinners, they would not let him have pizza unless we would go to sit in the front (fast- food like) section. Walked in this past mother's day with my 87yr old mom without a reservation. The place was packed. There were no tables available. The owner was extremely pleasant and accommodating .With in 15 minutes he set up a table for us that was very comfortable. As busy as they were service was great, the staff was prompt the food good. I can't believe the negative reviews that have been posted. These people have no clue about real Italian food and pizza. They must frequent the other so called Italian restaurants in this town that is run by owners who pretend to be Italian but are not..... Finally we have a real pizza/restaurant that know how to make the best pizza and Italian food in Orange County along with the most friendliest staff and service that is above and beyond.......I would rate this restaurant with a 10 out of 10......any of these negative reviews have to be written by the other Italian .restaurants in town because they all have to be worried about loosing all their business since villa Positano opened up and rightfully so.... They should be worried !!!!!! I have passed by Villa Positano many times. My husband and I decided to give it a try Saturday evening. We arrived at 6:30 and put our names on the wait list . We were told it would be approx. 15 minutes. We told the hostess we would wait at the bar. The barmaid was busy and was confused and asking how to make a Rob Roy. After about 10 minutes she finally made 3 drinks and gave them to the server. She then noticed us sitting and said I will be right with you. By now we were sitting 18 minutes, Four people came in and sat to the left of us at the bar, the barmaid came over and took their order. ??? I told my husband enough, we left. I stopped to tell the girl to take our name off the wait list. My husband explained what had happened. The owner then comes over asked what the problem was. Again my husband explained about being ignored for 18 minutes. The owner said what can I do for you. My husbands reply was nothing, have a nice evening... It did smell delicious inside but I couldn't tell you about the food and wont in the future because of such poor service. read more

My family and I were very impressed with the food- Someone I know had given this place a bad recommendation so we hoped we could prove that person wrong when we came. We were all there for a surprise birthday party so what I am rating is based on what we were able to order: we could choose chicken parm, tilapia, or chicken marsala. I had the tilapia and it was very good and flavorful. It came with broccoli and roasted potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the marsala and he enjoyed it as well. My father got the chicken parm and ate every bit. All of it was perfect proportion. The first course was the salad and it was a regular salad, nothing fancy. Second was a steaming hot bowl of penne vodka and that was actually my favorite part; so delicious! and then the main entre of course. The bread was also good as well. This place seems to get very busy by 7pm so maybe you can call ahead to get reservations. read more

I came here with my husband a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful experience. The environment was new and fresh and the food was outstanding. I got spaghetti frutti mar and my husband had a salmon special which he enjoyed as well. Our waitress was an older lady who was very kind, attentive, and friendly. The only unpleasant thing i would have to say is while waiting for our table at the bar, a lady who i assume was the owner, yelled at the bartender and you could tell the younger girl felt embarrassed. Afterwards, the owner continued to have her glass of wine and then yelled at a bus boy for not picking up a plate before getting bread. Yes, there is a business to run, but that was unpleasant and uncomfortable to watch for these young employees. My husband and I both felt it was unprofessional and distasteful to do in front of others. However, our experience was still an enjoyable one and we have been back 3 other times since then and continue to have great experiences!! This is a must try.
