A month after they opened and glad to say the lines and extended wait are no longer a thing. Every time I come to Durango I have stopped in for my favorite queso ranchero asada tacos, with the pickled onions and the hottest salsa. I've seen a lot of negative reviews saying that the food was cold but I have not experienced that when I visit whether I eat there or take them to go.
The hype has been intense. I got to go when it was semi-slow. Lined up for about 5 minutes or less. So, here's the rundown: Carne asada tacos- 2/5. It looked the same color (reddish) like the pastor- I couldn't even tell if it was carne or al pastor and had to double check if they accidentally just gave me all pastor. Al pastor tacos- 2/5. Good, but not spectacular. I was expecting some grilled pineapple on there but maybe I had the wrong idea. Multitas- 3/5. If you're going to add cheese, it has to be at least kinda good. Liked the crispy pieces of cheese coming out. I was intrigued that all the regular tacos are on blue corn tortillas. But don't know why their tortilllas were cold. I'm used to them being slightly toasted before the top off all the stuffs I think my biggest let down was the guacamole. They put the guacamole on everything and it kinda reminded me of the guac you can buy at Costco in those containers where it tastes almost artificial. I wasn't a fan. Tried all the sauces and the green and avocado salsa were a meh. I think the best part of this meal were the blue corn tortilla chips and their regular salsa. It tasted fresh and SO good. The rest were underwhelming or just a bit over the top in a bad way. Would I go back? Most likely just for the tortilla chips and their regular salsa.
If you're in the Southwest area for tacos or need some tacos after gambling around Durango, this is the spot for you.This is a taco spot from LA but this is the first time I ever experienced it. This place has had some hype but conveniently, we came at night where there was no wait and a lot of seating. Unfortunately they ran out of the reason why I wanted to come here which is the Ranchero Asada. Other than that, we got the villa's taco trio, al pastor, chorizo de puerco and something else. As far as which one is best, it was hard to know as I honestly didn't know which one was which. Don't make the mistake I did which is not knowing that Villa's trios were all queso tacos. The reason why I say this is because we also ordered the tacos as queso tacos. I do love cheese, especially fried cheese which is one great thing about their queso tacos. The only bad thing is that if you get a bunch of queso tacos, they all start to taste very similar and is hard to distinguish. They had a good variety of sauces such as salsa verde, chipotle and habanero. Their aqua frescas are really good as well but can be more on the sweeter side. The watermelon to me is the best, but the cucumber was also interesting as it wasn't what I expected with its sweetness. The interior is clean and doesn't feel grimy like some other taco spots may feel. Definitely a casino aesthetic applied to a taco spot. One thing that was pretty cool was that they gave away all their drinks to the remaining customers in the restaurant. Definitely was a nice gesture, but they may also be doing this to make sure they have a fresh batch tomorrow? Who knows. After a few drinks, tacos will be definitely great as it was in this situation. I will for sure have to come back and try it again without the queso to really gauge the taste of the meats on the tacos.
Yes, the line is still long despite coming here around 8:50pm on a normal Wednesday night. Waited about 30 minutes in line. But once we placed our order, we got our food within less than 5-7 minutes. I think the line moves extremely slow because there's only one cashier. Would've made sense to utilize both cash registers but I think they didn't want to overwhelm the cooks if orders are being placed twice as much as they can handle. Just bring your patience and don't come hangry. We ordered two carne asada tacos, one carne asada mulita and one chorizo con papas taco. Originally wanted to order some al pastor but they ran out. Running out of one of popular meat choices!? Come on now. They also ran out of all their agua frescas. I understand there's going to be hiccups still since they literally just opened a week ago. They might have underestimated inventory or something. Unfortunately, our tacos were cold. Was it the strong casino AC? Not sure. I love my food pippin hot so that was kind of a letdown. Surprised to see some reviews mentioning the lack of flavor/taste because we really enjoyed our tacos. THE TASTE IS THERE....THE FLAVOR IS THERE.....trust. They give plenty of meat....they don't skim you here. There's a salsa bar but they don't give you little cups. You just have to place the salsa directly on your tacos or pour it on an empty plate. Personally, I love these tacos/mulitas more than Tacos el Gordo. Can't wait to come back again once the hype has calm down a bit so I can try their al pastor plus their agua frescas.
I am beyond disappointed. For a place that's supposed to be Michelin-star worthy, the reality is a complete letdown. Terrible Presentation: To start, they actually served our aguas frescas in cheap soup-to-go containers. Cold and Flavorless: Both the tortillas and the meat were completely cold. To make matters worse, there was absolutely zero flavor--though I'm not even sure if the flavor was missing or if the food being ice cold just killed any taste it might have had. This place is entirely internet hype and completely fails to deliver. Save your money and go somewhere that actually knows how to make a decent taco.
One of the worst tacos I've had by far. I had high hopes for this place reading all the good reviews and seeing appealing photos at their LA location. We went on a weekday night at peak hours, and seems like hype came down because not much of a wait anymore. They still had customers dining in but probably like two parties ahead of us in line. I got the taco trio and THE TACOS ESPECIALLY THE MEAT were ALL cold. Reading all these reviews now for their Vegas location its not uncommon the tacos come out cold. Also my husband ordered a different set of tacos, and you can barely hear the staff calling out your name when they're bringing out orders. Well someone who was standing right behind us when we were all in line took my husband's plate (they had similar sounding names), we watched him pour sauces then sat down, then a couple minutes he realizes thats not his tacos he ordered, so he brings it back to someone that looked like the manager. Manager is all confused on the mix up so I go up and I explain to manager that's most likely ours but we asked nicely to remake it, especially since we saw that guy already touched and poured sauce on it.. well the manager wanted us to still take the plate and he claimed its still clean. Diabolical. Well we still asked to remake it because we paid almost 60$ for dinner and we got OCD, and they did, and guess what again, the tacos were still cold. And since my plate already came out before my husband's, my tacos got even more cold.
Nice to have a taco option inside the Durango. Villas tacos were ok. Definitely over hyped nothing that wowed me. Had an asada taco, Al pastor and a chorizo. Also had the an agua de Jamaica and a pepino limón water. They were both super sweet and had to add some water to dilute it a bit. The salsas were really good specially their habanero one.
As I'm devastated the Italian place shutdown this wasn't a bad taco. I could've gone without the cheese grilled on the outside of the tortilla but it was edible, basically all I tasted. The meat wasn't very seasoned so I was surprised as I hear they have a Michelin star? Throw a taco truck in the parking lot and watch how fast they could get a "star" too. Fantastic service and not super pricey. It hit the spot after a night of drinking.
4 stars for now....no Pastor and no service to table but easily can make it up on next trip. I do have to taste the Pastor to give full review. The service well all the people are friendly and very actively cleaning. So let back up...its friday...im not usually off but I was heading to a Carnitas spot Carnitas Y Tortas ahogadas 2 for one Tacos on Fridayi recommend this spot but i decided to go this place instead. The Parking at Durango and Red Rock is perfect. You park in parking structure and head to elevators and go down and booooom you there. The crazy part is i was on third floor and as soon I got into elevators you can smell that Al Carbon Mesquite...oh wow!!! Place not super packed but more than half. I was disappointed with no Pastor today. But the 3 taco plate was great Asada,Chorizo con Papa's and Chiken and Frijol. I did add one more asada taco because I didn't eat dinner yesterday night. 3 tacos are filling and 4 was over kill well at least for me. Victor and crew awesome aver next time I hope to have Pastor to complete my review. Not far from Summerlin so well worth it. It is a bit pricey but I believe its close to Taco Stand prices and Tacos el Gordo Oh watch out for that little orange hot sauce...so good but FIRE!!!! LOL!!!

I got one asada taco and one al pastor for $10. Not worth it. It took over 10 mins to get food. Both tacos looked the same so I couldn't tell which meat it is. Only half the taco had guac. The flavors are good. The best was the orange sauce which is very spicy. I know it's new but some basic things need to change. There is only one napkin dispenser. Each table should have napkins. The salsa bar has dusty glass on top. There are no labels for sauces. Which sauces are mild and spicy? A p-touch is only $40 bucks. There happened to be 3 cups sitting there so I filled them up. I told the worker girl she needs to put out more cups for salsa and she said it's only for to go orders. That is stupid. Just put some cups out for all customers. When calling peoples names the black girl was very loud and obnoxious. I don't like her. The place is nice and clean. Fix the salsa bar, add more napkin dispensers, and do a deal with 3 tacos for $10 and then it will be worth it
The tacos are tasty. But you need to get the queso tacos. Small and expensive, which is to be expected. If you're not starving, three tacos should suffice and will set you back around $20. The star of the show are the handmade blue corn tortillas. Second, would be the crispy cheese, which is $1 more. All of the meat is chopped up into tiny pieces so the tacos all taste very similar. I had the Villa Trio, which along with asada, and two trio exclusives -- papas con chorizo and black bean con pollo. Could hardly taste the difference between them all, to be honest. Expect long lines to eventually die down. There will be hiccups along the way. On the day that I went, they were already out of al pastor at 3pm on a Sunday. As far as tacos go in Vegas, I would much rather have Villa's Tacos than Taco El Gordo if I'm paying around $5 per taco. Props to owner Victor going through the entire line and saying hi and thank you to everyone.
Hubs and I LOVE Mexican food, especially Street Tacos. We were anxious to try Villa's Tacos in the Food Hall at The Durango H&C. We were disappointed. The process (where to enter, where to order, how to pay, where to wait, how to get salsa) is unclear and confusing. The Dude was thrown when I handed him cash. Really?? Also, the menu is very limited. For our first visit, rather than "decide" what to order, we went with Villa's Trios. One Chorizo Taco, One Asada Taco and one Pollo. Their tacos were generously filled. Way too much filling for those fragile taco shells. We had to remove filling before picking up a taco and eating it. No need for additional salsa because there was so much Creama and Guac that the tacos definitely didn't need yet another item. That's a good thing; the line at the Salsa Bar was never ending because you don't serve yourself. A Chick gives you tiny little plastic cups after you tell her which specific salsa(s) you want. And, of course, all of the customers at the Salsa Bar have questions. "Now, what is that?" and then she explains. And they give tastes. So it takes forever for a single customer to get what they want from the Salsa Bar and finally leave, so that others can get salsa. Grrr I love Blue Corn Tortillas; have had them many times especially in AZ and New Mexico. We were looking forward to Blue Corn Tortillas BUT the tortillas were then deep-fried (I guess) with cheese, to make sort of a Cheese Crisp/Taco Shell combination. Unnecessary, not authentic and messier to eat. Also, the look was not appealing. We LOVE eating at The George, one of the sit-down restaurants inside the Durango. GREAT food with very good to excellent service. But we always spend $60-$70. Wanting to spend less, we thought we'd have tacos. We each had ONE beer and guess what we spent? See receipt photo. $55 + $5 tip = $60. For fast food. For tacos and beer. I'm glad we tried it. We were impressed that someone was actually making Al Pastor. Every employee was friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. We might eat here again someday, maybe; but we will certainly not head to the Durango, as we did yesterday, with the intention of returning to Villa's Tacos. Too much confusion; menu too limited; tacos good but not great; food too messy.
Really enjoyed Villas Tacos at Durango Casino! We ordered the trio queso tacos, and the chicken taco was definitely my favorite. The tortillas were a standout. Sturdy enough to hold everything without being double stacked, which I loved. The guac was also super flavorful and fresh. We came right around peak lunch time at 12:15 on a Tuesday and were able to order, sit down, and finish eating within about 40 minutes. Service was good, and I appreciated that staff were actively walking around cleaning tables and checking in to see how the food was. Also tried the hibiscus agua fresca. Very refreshing, fresh tasting, and just the right amount of sweetness. Great flavors all around and definitely worth a stop!

Best tacos in Las Vegas!! The vibe here was really cool and the service was top tier!! So glad to have a Villas in NV finally!!! Will be our new regular spot and Sarah made it extra special for me and my hubby!!!! read more

This was our first time trying this restaurant. They are new to the Durango Casino. The first week or two that they opened was a line that was an hour long. We went tonight and experience the following: NO LINE! The hype has died down. Great for us. The young lady at the counter was so polite and explained the menu with patience. So.... There are no sides that go with your tacos. It is just tacos. I ordered the Mulita which was $8 a piece. So I ordered two of them. Hubby got the Trio which I believe was $11.50. I ordered a strawberry Fresca as well. They have little containers to grab your sauces. The portions are small, not satisfying for dinner if you are hungry. I ordered 2 tacos, if you are hungry you may need 4 of them. It is just tacos....! The ambiance is basic, it is in the casino food court. A little loud with all the yelling for the orders. We did enjoy the tacos. I think it's fine if you need a small snack. Nothing much to hype about. But all in all it was good. read more
Finally got my chance to weigh in on the most controversial openings this year. Verdict: it's good. Villa's Tacos is an LA taqueria famous for earning a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin guide and possibly more famous from a cameo in the latest Super Bowl halftime show. They recently opened this location in the Durango casino food hall, so I figured that I should go sooner or later. I went today and was glad that there was barely any wait when I arrived. Even better, I sat at the counter (which looked very spacious and clean), and they brought the food straight over! I was recommended the queso tacos, but since I also wanted to try the unadorned blue corn tortilla, I got a Taco ($4.50) with Pierna de Pollo, or chicken thigh. It is pretty unremarkable, with diced chicken not really carrying a lot of inherent or smoky flavor and the housemade blue corn tortilla not standing out so much other than keeping the fillings intact. I was going to go for Al Pastor, but somehow they were already out early in their business day. If at all possible, skip the solo chicken. The bulk of my meal was the Villa's Trio ($17.50), and actually it was probably enough for lunch on its own. These are three Queso Tacos, with three different fillings including two exclusive mixes. The chorizo with papas was both tasty with the warm spice blend of the chorizo and filling with the potatoes. The chicken with black beans was more hearty and tasty than the chicken was alone. The ranchero asado was a marinated and grilled steak that ended up quite tender. All of the tacos are built on the blue corn tortillas but carry a crispy cheese skirt, which adds a great texture and flavor; it's probably worth getting all tacos that way unless you have a huge intolerance. You'll have to ask for little plastic cups for additional salsa if you wanna take advantage of the complimentary salsa bar, which you should for most of the tacos. I mostly stuck to the mild salsas, and the tomatillo and roasted ones were just fine. The Poppoh's Jiquilpan did have a kick but carried a little more flavor, and you'll want that more for anything with their boring chicken. Faced with the choice of some cucumber-based agua fresca or Strawberry Lemonade ($6.00), I went with the latter. There are strawberry seeds floating around so there does seem to be actual fruit lineage. More importantly, it does taste more natural than a certain bottled brand I've been having lately. It is very refreshing while not veering too sweet, just what you typically get in lemonade. Last, but not least: if you are a Boarding Pass cardholder (Station Casinos rewards card) and gamble enough to build up your points, you can spend them right here. So I have to assume that anyone making huge complaints (the tacos aren't really "cold" but maybe more tepid) was paying out of their own pocket. Villa's Tacos is a good taco spot that capably fills that niche for the Durango food hall. Try the queso tacos at least once now that the crowds have died down, but also know that there are better local taquerias with more outright awesome offerings. read more

Hubs and I LOVE Mexican food, especially Street Tacos. We were anxious to try Villa's Tacos in the Food Hall at The Durango H&C. We were disappointed. The process (where to enter, where to order, how to pay, where to wait, how to get salsa) is unclear and confusing. The Dude was thrown when I handed him cash. Really?? Also, the menu is very limited. For our first visit, rather than "decide" what to order, we went with Villa's Trios. One Chorizo Taco, One Asada Taco and one Pollo. Their tacos were generously filled. Way too much filling for those fragile taco shells. We had to remove filling before picking up a taco and eating it. No need for additional salsa because there was so much Creama and Guac that the tacos definitely didn't need yet another item. That's a good thing; the line at the Salsa Bar was never ending because you don't serve yourself. A Chick gives you tiny little plastic cups after you tell her which specific salsa(s) you want. And, of course, all of the customers at the Salsa Bar have questions. "Now, what is that?" and then she explains. And they give tastes. So it takes forever for a single customer to get what they want from the Salsa Bar and finally leave, so that others can get salsa. Grrr I love Blue Corn Tortillas; have had them many times especially in AZ and New Mexico. We were looking forward to Blue Corn Tortillas BUT the tortillas were then deep-fried (I guess) with cheese, to make sort of a Cheese Crisp/Taco Shell combination. Unnecessary, not authentic and messier to eat. Also, the look was not appealing. We LOVE eating at The George, one of the sit-down restaurants inside the Durango. GREAT food with very good to excellent service. But we always spend $60-$70. Wanting to spend less, we thought we'd have tacos. We each had ONE beer and guess what we spent? See receipt photo. $55 + $5 tip = $60. For fast food. For tacos and beer. I'm glad we tried it. We were impressed that someone was actually making Al Pastor. Every employee was friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. We might eat here again someday, maybe; but we will certainly not head to the Durango, as we did yesterday, with the intention of returning to Villa's Tacos. Too much confusion; menu too limited; tacos good but not great; food too messy. read more

Really enjoyed Villas Tacos at Durango Casino! We ordered the trio queso tacos, and the chicken taco was definitely my favorite. The tortillas were a standout. Sturdy enough to hold everything without being double stacked, which I loved. The guac was also super flavorful and fresh. We came right around peak lunch time at 12:15 on a Tuesday and were able to order, sit down, and finish eating within about 40 minutes. Service was good, and I appreciated that staff were actively walking around cleaning tables and checking in to see how the food was. Also tried the hibiscus agua fresca. Very refreshing, fresh tasting, and just the right amount of sweetness. Great flavors all around and definitely worth a stop! read more

Ambiance is great and clean...but service isn't bad once you are inside... they have a waiting line (just missing the bouncer ) that allow 1 person or party to go to the order counter (2 cash registers) only one guy taking the orders and controlling who is getting in at the same time...we were there Saturday 3 pm I don't know how they do when is busy. About the food ...nice presentation but isn't what they advertise better than Gordo's ( and Gordo's is a 5 out 10).. small tacos expensive and cold. I wanted to see what the hype was about, but i did wanted to wait till it wasn't as busy. I did like how opened it was and the LA Dodgers colors in the restaurant..very clean. LA style tacos hit Las Vegas... finally! My wife and I both enjoyed multiple tacos there today. The Al Pastor was my fave while my wife preferred the chorizo. 3 tacos per person is a solid meal. Drink wise, I had a Corona and since they don't offer iced tea, my wife went and nabbed one elsewhere. Super friendly service too. We'll be back. read more

From the flavorful blue corn tortillas, to the variety of salsas and the crunchy cheese shell on their quesotacos with any of their proteins (my fave is the carne asada), I can't get enough of Villa's Tacos! I already want more of their agua frescas too! can't wait to come back for more soon :) read more

I ordered 3 queso tacos, each with a different meat. I got 1 ranchera asada, 1 chicken, and 1 pork. Honestly, all of the meats tasted the same-very salty and no mesquite flavor. Where's the cotija and crema on one of my tacos? I was full but underwhelmed. At almost $20 for 3 tacos, I was hoping for more flavor. Fine would be the experience when considering the food, the salsa bar with ridiculously tiny cups, and the lackluster customer service. read more

This is my second visit to Villa's Tacos, and I really enjoy the warm atmosphere. Today, the lunchtime wait times were quite manageable. I especially fell in love with the Black Bean con Pollo. The cucumber Agua Fresca was very sweet and delicious. read more

If you are looking for a place that serves cold taco meats, then this restaurant is perfect for you. (photo of where they cut the meats and placed in a tin, no heat) They also have a one hour wait time. Additionally, they serve their drinks, including their agua fresca, from a large bucket that is not even kept on ice. And let's not forget to mention the expensive tacos. read more

Delicious!! My wife had the Villas Trio and all three tacos were 5/5. I had black bean and nopal 5/5, the pollo with queso tortilla 5/5 and al pastor 4/5. Each taco has many layers of flavor which combine to equal deliciousness. The guac has a good tang to it and the different meats are all well seasoned. My only two critiques are the al pastor was a bit overcooked and dry but the flavor was good and it is unclear how you're supposed to use the salsa bar. I saw a guy go up and ask and they gave him little cups to fill with each kind. When I went up and asked the gentleman told me when we get our food to come up and serve yourself. The team members we interacted with were very nice. A young lady came by our table to check in and ask what we thought of the food and to thank us for coming in. It's a NO for me. After two tacos, I was still starving and ended up having to stop at Irv's Burgers afterward. The tacos just didn't have enough meat or flavor for me. $38 for four tacos and an agua fresca is way too much for what you're getting. For that price, I expected to leave full and impressed, and unfortunately I was neither. I'd much rather hit up Tacos El Sabor taco truck on Las Vegas Blvd--better flavor, better portions, and way more satisfying. Definitely not worth the hype for me. read more

Honestly, these tacos are not all that they're from Highland Park or somewhere in LA. I was born and raised in Boyle Heights East LA area. There are better taco spots over there. I wasn't impressed with their tacos at all. read more

With long lines and greeting guests with a loud welcome, Villa's Tacos on grand opening day at the Durango Casino has exceeded expectations. The food here is fantastic with fresh tacos, tacos de queso, and mulitas. I ordered 3 tacos de queso of their ranchera asada and al pastor that is live roasted on their mesquite trompo. With every bite topped with fiery salsa, these tacos are the bomb. Despite the long wait which I think will lessen as they continue to open. Villa's Tacos is a destination taqueria that outclasses many others in Las Vegas! read more
