Did takeout, so I imagine the food would be even better fresh. We tried the barbacoa (best taco we had), birria, lamb and ribeye asado tacos. They were sold out of the suadero (brisket) taco which we would have ordered too. The hostess was very friendly and our food was ready on time. It is nice inside, bright and clean, albeit fewer tables than I envisioned. The food was still hot when we opened the packaging to eat it. I liked the salsas they included though the tacos didn't need it. The blue and yellow corn tortillas were good, but just a touch drier than I would have liked. The ribeye asado had the least flavor of all the tacos and the meat was a bit dry but was still decent. The lamb was good, but also a little dry. The birria and barbacoa were delicious and I would definitely order them again. If you are starving I recommend ordering 4 tacos (I probably could have eaten 5 as I was ready to chew off my own arm, order 3 if you are not a big eater or just normal hungry). read more

The food at Milpa is sooo solid even though I got it delivered from DoorDash. Who knew you could find tacos better than some of the spots in LA and SD right here in Vegas. The birria was extremely tender and had a lot of depth in the consomé. A lot of spots in SD and LA have it stewed too long or boiled too heavily, so while it's tender, it ends up dry. This spot nailed it. The fish taco was solid and perfectly seasoned. The al pastor was alright, not nearly as good as what you'd get carved off the trompo at street stands in LA. When I came to visit a friend in town, he told me he wanted to go here and another place. When I looked it up I was delighted to see that I had already bookmarked it as a place to try. We had a pup with us and in the yelp review we saw that they were dog friendly. When we got there, we didn't see any outdoor seating so I popped in to see if we could bring her in or if we needed to get take out. To our relief they told us we could bring her in as long as she stayed under the table and was on her leash. No problem. There are several tables allowing for many group sizes with the bathroom outside, which was very clean. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share: Cilantro lime shrimp Barbacoa beef Birria tacos Apple empanada We got extra blue corn tortillas that were served warm. I got a Horchata matcha which was refreshing. The food came out quickly and it was all very good. The tortillas were soft and warm. The barbacoa was super tender and flavorful. The birria is some of the best I've had in a very very long while. The shrimp were well cooked as well. The apple empanada was delicious! The apple pieces were diced into tiny cubes with a yummy masa wrapping coated in sugar. Everyone who came by and helped were super friendly and welcoming. Such a great experience. Tried Milpa recently and it was a good experience. It was busy when we were there. Small place so there will be a wait if busy hours. You can really tell they put a lot of care into the ingredients--the flavors feel fresh, authentic, and thoughtfully put together. Presentation is great but smaller entrees than we expected. I finally checked Milpa off my Yelp bookmarks, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long! It was absolutely worth the wait. We started with the chips and salsa, and the salsas were on point. My favorite was the red, and I loved that they were served warm, it makes such a difference in flavor compared to the cold stuff most places serve. The queso birria tacos were delicious the braised beef was incredibly juicy, and the consomé had a great flavorful kick to it. I also really enjoyed the suadero tacos, which were so tender. If you didn't know, Milpa is a top 100 place to visit and that's for good reason Ordered to go and the service was still fast I tried most of their tacos the standouts were Fish taco - got the beer battered Mahi Mahi. Solid and it's a must order if you like fish tacos Ribeye Asada - meat excellent but I would caution the spicy salsa paired with this. It is a creeper and will recommend getting that on the side if you don't like spicy. Queso Birria - this might go down as one of the best and cleanest birria tacos I've had. The consome goes with everything. It's not super greasy or salty. It's a great balance of flavors. The birria meat had excellent flavor and the cheese that blanketed the meat inside is the perfect complement Love that everything is made down to the tortilla. If you're the kind of person who gets a little flutter in your heart when you see mushroom or cauliflower tacos on a menu, let me introduce you to your new happy place: Milpa. It's not to say carnivores aren't welcome as they actually have a ton of meaty choices, it's just that any restaurant that makes cauliflower a delicious showstopper gets my attention. They clearly put real effort into building flavor. A lot of the dishes come wrapped in their homemade blue corn masa tortillas, which are so good you might briefly consider committing a felony to secure an extra one. I'm not saying I would mug a grandma for a blue masa tortilla... but if there's a grandma out there casually carrying one in her purse, she should probably keep an eye on me. These tortillas are that good. While I was there, I noticed that Phil Rosenthal from Somebody Feed Phil has stopped by and sung their praises. honestly, no shock there. The food is creative without being precious, bold without being showy. Just really, really solid. The vibe is great neighborhood energy -- casual, relaxed, the kind of place where you order at the counter but still feel genuinely taken care of. It's not white-tablecloth, hushed-dining-room service, but friendly, attentive, and warm. Also do not skip the drinks. I had a pomegranate paloma that was dangerously delicious -- bright, refreshing, and the perfect companion to those blue masa masterpieces. After an early morning flight from Reno, my husband and I drove directly to Milpas for an early breakfast. At first we were surprised to see the sleepy shopping center pretty much empty. However, after ordering our food the cozy restaurant quickly filled up. The woman working at the counter greeted us and chatted as we looked over the menu. My husband was starving having woken up at 4 for our flight and not having eaten anything by nearly 9am, so he got a breakfast dessert to eat right away as well as huevos rancheros with red sauce. I was torn between the Blue Corn Pinole Pancakes and the Chilaquiles! I opted for the Chilaquiles with green sauce and scrambled eggs with an add-on of beef birria. We seated ourselves and our coffees were promptly delivered to the table. My husband enjoyed his breakfast dessert and americano. The Dulce de Leche Latte was wonderful--warm, not too sweet, and creamy! I absolutely loved the Chilaquiles! The birria was served on the side so I was able to portion how much I wanted on my dish and share some with my husband. The green sauce was the right choice. Everything about the dish was fresh, light, and delicious! I felt satiated at the end of the meal and ready for my next adventure. I was so refreshing to have cozy Mexican food that also felt healthy and light. Next time I am in Vegas, I will have to go back to try more on the menu. Already looking forward to it! read more

We heard about Milpa from the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil! We were in Vegas for the first time in a while and only had one day to visit... so we ended up getting tacos for breakfast lol. Service was amazing!! The person that was helping us was kind to offer recommendations, and he was super attentive as well. The fooood: + Chilaquiles ($16.75) (4.5/5): I've never had chilaquiles before, so this was my introduction to it! I really loved how the tortillas were crispy. The salsa was SUPER good too. I'm typically not a big fan of beans, but these hit the spot for me as well! + The tacos - we got a variety! The fish taco, suadero, and birria queso tacos were all delicious. The highlight was DEFINITELY the suadero though. I really enjoyed the crispy bits of brisket. I'd come back more often if I lived closer! This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas, and perhaps ever. I grew up in CDMX, and this place reminds me of home and delicious breakfast. Their tortillas, beans, and all the ingredients taste fresh and carefully selected. Their salsas have the best recipes, from the salsa for the chilaquiles to their tetelas. The mushroom tetela is my favorite. I love the variety of mushrooms and the subtle chili oil salsa de arbol. I love their huevos rancheros. I am sad they no longer have their bakery, but I'm glad they still have their amazing coffee selections. Their drip coffee is perfect, as is their Mexican mocha and their matcha horchata. I always take a jamaica water to go. It's refreshing and tastes freshly made. Their potatoes are fantastic. Their birria is a great add-on. Their tacos are always delicious. The frijoles de olla taste like my family's homemade beans. And their lunch menu options are also so healthy and filling. I always think the dishes here won't fill me up, and I'm always proven wrong. They carefully balance proteins, carbs, and fats to make their dishes delicious, beautiful, and healthy. The staff here is always so kind and welcoming. They go out of their way to make sure you're treated well and leave satisfied. It's a pretty cozy place and they manage to get everyone set with their meals quickly, and moving along. I've never had trouble finding a table even when it's at its fullest. I cannot recommend this place enough. I love this restaurant, and I hope they expand to a second location someday. read more

I was in the area and I stopped by to get some food to go. The staff is still very friendly and service was quick. I got the ribeye asada tacos again and I decided to try the horchata cold brew and the cute corncha they had. The meat for the tacos remains as good as I remember! The tortillas were a little too thin this time around though and were breaking as I was trying to eat my taco. It's okay though, overall I enjoyed my meal. The horchata cold brew was not very good, but maybe I just don't like the coffee. It's too bitter for me. This is just my opinion though, and for reference, I prefer sweeter coffees with more milk. Now, the corncha is super cute! I warmed it up when I got home and enjoyed it so much! I love the creative idea. Happy to have gone back and I'll continue to stop by when I'm in the area. I've had this place bookmarked for a little while. After I saw they were featured by Phil Rosenthal in his Netflix show - I just know that I had to go and try their food. I was more inclined to try because they're also allergen conscious. I have gluten and dairy intolerances so their menu with the allergen notation - helps a lot. It was our first time there, and he told us we'd been missing out--and he was completely right! The tacos were fresh, delicious, and packed with flavor. The menu is simple and easy to look through, which made ordering a breeze. We tried the birria, fish, and ribeye tacos, and every single one was incredible. To top it all off, we had the apple empanada and a mazapan latte. The empanada was perfectly crispy on the outside with warm, sweet apple filling inside--just perfect. We are locals and we've been wanting to try Milpa for a while. It's in a small plaza that's not super busy, so parking was easy. Cute inside with limited seating. We visited on Labor day weekend, in the early afternoon, with a small queue at the door. You order at the front and hope you have a table when your food is ready Some people grabbed a table before they ordered, causing us to wait after ordering out food, a few minutes before we could sit down. Food comes out fast and they're really quick on cleaning up tables, so they can turn them over fast. The fiancé ordered two birria tacos and I ordered two barbacoa with a single fish taco. The birria meat was flavorful but the tortilla was disappointing. Only one was dipped in consommé and neither had any crisp to it. My barbacoa meat was tasty but I was not a fan of my tortilla either. The fish portion in the taco was so tiny, not very fresh tasting, and a little dry. One bite was enough for me, I couldn't finish it or the tortillas. The service was fast, nice and attentive. The bathroom is outside the restaurant. It has such high ratings and reviews that we had high hopes but it felt flat for us. To be fair, we are comparing it to the tacos in Southern California and Mexico that we enjoy on a regular. However, step inside and discover something special. A QR code or hard copy menu will begin your journey. Lots to choose from - proteins, preparations and more. They do offer beer and some cocktails. The Paloma flight was perfect as each one offered was too tempting to choose just one. Two of us chose the birria tacos and one chose the Pollo Adobado Bowl. The food was delivered quickly to our table as well as the drinks. The Palomas were outstanding with the Pomegranate being the overall winner. The food was beautifully plated and only added to the excitement. The Birria was hot, juicy and so flavorful. The consommé was plentiful and tasty. Fresh red onion and chopped cilantro were provided on the plate along with a cup of hot sauce. I really enjoyed the Birria tacos. Very rich and tender. I was looking for something to add a punch of acid so I asked for something picked onions. They were a bit too softly pickled to deliver the kick, oh well. Our dinner mate really enjoyed the Pollo Adobado Bowl. The chicken is definitely the star. Amazingly flavorful and moist. Great grill crispness to add a bit of crunch. A couple of years ago, I read about a tiny Las Vegas treasure that had earned a James Beard Award nomination and landed at #6 on Yelp's Best Restaurants in the U.S. list. That restaurant is Milpa. It immediately went onto my "must-try" list, and I'm happy to report that after numerous breakfast visits, the experience remains consistently satisfying. The well-known "secret" to Milpa's success is its commitment to grinding Mexican heirloom corn in-house to produce fresh masa daily. The exponential increase in flavor is unmistakable. Commercially produced tortillas simply pale in comparison. Here, the corn flavor truly pops, earthy, aromatic, and deeply expressive. This year, when my birthday rolled around, Milpa was the obvious choice to start the celebration. I ordered the huevos rancheros, arbor potatoes, and an Oaxacan Choco Latte, each a proven favorite. The huevos rancheros begin with an heirloom corn tostada layered with velvety puréed black beans and topped with two farm-fresh sunny-side-up eggs. A generous cascade of vibrant salsa, avocado, cilantro, and paper-thin red onion slices completes the dish. The result is a superbly balanced composition: spicy brightness complementing the rich yolks and sweet corn foundation, with each topping adding dimension and texture. Even writing about it makes me salivate. The arbor potatoes arrive crispy and golden, roasted to achieve that ideal contrast, crunchy exterior giving way to a soft, fluffy center. Coated in salsa árbol, the heat is present but never overwhelming. I found myself happily using the potato cubes to sop up every last bit of ranchero sauce on the plate. Finally, the Oaxacan Choco Latte, a Mexican mocha of sorts, blends robust coffee with Mexican chocolate and warming spices. Notes of cinnamon and chile are evident, possibly accompanied by other subtle aromatics. It's the perfect morning companion: comforting, complex, and beautifully aligned with the bold flavors of the meal. Even though I was quite full, I felt compelled to bring home one of the in-house made pan dulces. This particular selection featured a tender, cake-like center enveloped in delicate, flaky pastry. It was just sweet enough,balanced rather than cloying, and proved to be the perfect complement to my afternoon coffee at home. All told, Milpa remains one of my favorite breakfast destinations in Las Vegas. I still need to visit later in the day to explore more of the menu, but that simply gives me something to look forward to. I've been wanting to try this place. Finally came today & ordered the birria queso tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. Only thing I didn't really care for was the hot sauce. Had a kinda of weird mild flavor that I've never had before so kind of hard to describe what it taste like. I will say the heat on it was nice. The consome had lots of flavor which I appreciated & the fix-ins added even more flavor to the tacos. I always have to preface that I don't mind paying more for something that is quality, but I feel 18 bucks for 3 birria tacos is a bit steep. Both ladies I spoke to here were SO helpful and friendly. I got such a thorough introduction to the menu and was excited to try the made-from-scratch in-house tortillas. They had a really convenient ordering kiosk, so you can either order there or at the main counter resister. It was super hard to choose, but one recommendation I was given was to try a mix of single tacos if it's my first time trying them. That way I could see what I liked. Great idea! I decided to give the beef barbacoa, mushroom carnitas, and beer battered mahi a try. When they came out, I thought they looked so delicious! Really nicely plated and fresh. Great food, maybe too expensive for a taco. The food here is excellent, the service is great, the bathroom situation is a little funky, parking is plentiful. There are so many places with great tacos in Las Vegas, i.e. The Taco Stand in China Town, the cafes in every mercado, and a thousand more. Milpa is good but so are a lot of other places. Milpa is clean, well lit, lots of tables in a small spot, food is excellent, if a little pricey. I've seen lots of company businesses lunches there (8-10 people). As someone who has had tons of authentic Mexican food, this place was somewhat disappointing. Came here with a friend. Portions were huge and the food was just ok. It's a small place, so not much seating. They offer adult beverages, but my friend and I don't really drink. Not bad, not good, just average. read more
