The plain croissant is very bready, instead of layers of pastry with a flaky outside, and the apricot croissant had bottom layers that were raw. An uncooked pastry is what "The Great British Baking Show" calls a "soggy bottom." No one wants that. The best of a bad bunch of the three we tried was the almond croissant, but it was also very bready, lacking in flavor, and arguably not a croissant since it also lacked the layers and crunchy exterior. read more

I called to say that the day before yesterday I believe I dropped my husband's medication there and could they perhaps check if someone turned it in. The woman began literally screaming at me saying they throw things away after one day it was in the trash and it wasn't her job to look after things that I lose. It was unbelievable! Screaming, yelling and angry. I told her my husband has cancer and we really need the medicine please can't you just check ? she said no and hung up. She called back a little later saying because I mentioned cancer. She got it out of the trash, but she was angry and rude when she told me that and when he went to pick it up. Very friendly service and they always get the order right! We used to live very close by and frequented this shop often. Now that we live on the other side of town we will still make a point to visit because the food and service never disappoints! Try a different location. I attempted to order the 4 Cinnamon Walnut Croissants in the display case. The lady refused to sell me more than 2. She said she can only sell 2 as has to save the remaining for "regular customers". Hmm, I told her I am a regular customer. It was nonsensical. She is difficult to understand and she yells as she speaks. My understanding is she will only sell 2 of the same flavor croissant to any one customer. It was 9am and not sure why she did not have more if she was worried about selling out. Isn't the sale of food sold on a first come first serve basis? It was a Sunday morning, so she should know she needs a higher volume of that croissant. She said I would have to order ahead if I wanted more than 2 of those croissants. More than 2 of the same kind? I know of no other place that would refuse a sale to a customer with some rule of limitation of 2 of the same item. Truly bizarre. It wasn't as if she had 3 dozen croissants and I wanted them all. I asked her if other locations adhered to the same rules and she said each location is different. This place was amazing! Coffee is smooth and Chai is incredible! The only thing is the paninis are not pressed with rails like they are traditionally. They are more like a toasted sandwich or grilled cheese. But amazing none the less. I HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

Meh...I was excited to return to this location to enjoy a hot, cheesy, freshly baked bagel and was really disappointed. Cafe Des Crossiants is not what it used to be. I used to order the jalapeno bagel as it had a nice baked on layer of cheese with a slice of jalapeno on top; once heated in the toaster it was the perfect amount of spice to the cool contrast of cream cheese. Today's bagel was nothing close to the original recipe. Since the franchise has been sold, the recipe has changed and quality is lacking. Today's bagel was a dry tasteless piece of donut shaped dough. I used to visit this shop when I was a kid twenty years ago and it is not the same. Best Bagel place in the County - I often get it to go even though they have a lovely seating area and good coffee. The Loxy Lady is delicious and there are plenty of Lox on there - I've asked other places to double it up to get what you get here. Then I always get the Bacon and Egg on a Sesame for my roommate and he loves it. He's super particular so if he doesn't like it - I hear about it. I had a lox bagel and cream cheese with purple onion,tomato. All tho you can't find a true bagel around here anymore,with the poppy seeds on the outside crust made The bagel taste more like a bagel. I also ordered a cappuccino with all foam. While I see others ordering bagels the they always seem to have them toasted even though they're fresh bagels. Now if it was a true bagel you wouldn't need it toasted because of the flavor is much better. The woman who works here (the owner I think) is unbelievably rude. I've been here in the past and been treated rudely but thought it was an anomaly. Possibly some tough customers have been through just before. After this many times of being treated horribly they will never see my business again. It's just to much to have someone be rude as soon as you walk in the door. I love to support small business but I walked back over to Safeway and spent my money there. read more

What a sweet little spot. I come here for sandwiches all the time, they make them super yummy and really cheap. My honey always gets a pastry or two as well. Their coffees are up to par, so it's really a one stop shop. They've got free wifi here, and I started coming here because Starbucks never has any seating. Besides, I think the atmosphere is better here - there's lots of really cool windows and that giant chess board outside is just awesome. Plenty of seating, so this is a great spot to bring a laptop, do some work, while munching on a sandwich and coffee. Shout out the staff as well. They're always super nice, and my honey and I have started to get to know the girls by name. I can tell they're hardworking, because one time I called in a sandwich order ahead of time and the phone call got staticy and then got cut off (I was in a bad service area). About thirty seconds later, one of their staff took initiative to call me back to make sure I was ok, and to make sure she could get my full order.
