Good, wholesome food and excellent service. Very clean too. I always love stopping here when we're in Door County.

Years ago, I would have given this place a four. The last few years I have been really disappointed and I think I'm finally ready to cross it off my list of places to go while here in Egg Harbor. I ordered the spicy rancheros omelette with a side of fruit. The guacomole was squeezed on quite obviously from a tube of some sort and the watery salsa/chilies had leaked out to pool under a black bean filled omelette. The fruit, both on my side and on my daughter's fruit plate, had seen better days and had the appearance of being a day or three past when it should have been served. A side of corned beef hash was essentially minced corn beef over chunked red potatoes, ok flavor but dried out. By and large our entire table's worth of food was bland and disappointing. The people working here are friendly and it's frequented by locals and visitors alike. Plenty of catchy little gift shop type items hanging on the walls to chuckle over - until you have to explain to your kids why a towel that says "spooning leads to forking" is funny. For me, going out for breakfast needs to be better than this. I'll save the $76 and make my own next time. My honest impression is that they know they are one of the only games in town and don't have to work for your business anymore. read more

We had the absolute worst experience at the Village Cafe, so much so that we left. They fist said if you wait a few minutes we will give you a quiet corner table, however after waiting they seated us in the middle of a noisy room. When I asked what happened the waiter said oh they won't let me seat you there. Then they messed up my breakfast order, I waited 15 minutes and the correct breakfast was never delivered to the table. My husbands breakfast was barely warm and not good. I would never recommend eating at this cafe. read more

We stopped in for a quick breakfast and oh what an impressive breakfast it was. Fun little casual eatery with a vibrant decor. We started with Blueberry Coffeecake that was so fresh and perfectly crafted we just all sat silent devouring our slices. Had breakfast here this morning for the first time and it was excellent! The food was fantastic and the service was great. they even brought some water out for our dog (back patio is dog friendly). Back patio had a very nice feel to it and plenty of shade. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Stopped in to Village Cafe during the off season, and we were seated right away around 9 AM on a Sunday. The restaurant is bright and cheery with multi colored fiestaware dishes and bright colored tablecloths. The coffee is ever-flowing, and the menu is expansive with choices for nearly everyone. I chose the Spicy Rancheros omelette which comes with cheese, black beans, guacamole, sour cream, green chilies, and salsa. I had mine with fresh fruit and toast. The toast is served with a delicious cherry jam, and the fruit was all cut in house and delicious. The omelette was tasty, but I was disappointed that the fillings/toppings all appeared to be canned and not freshly made. The "salsa" was giant chunks of canned tomato and seemingly no other flavoring or fresh ingredients. The guacamole looked like it came from the premade Sabra containers you can get in the grocery store. The omelette's flavor and quality certainly could have been improved by the use of homemade fresh salsa and guacamole. Nonetheless, it's a cute and bright restaurant in the dead of winter, so I would come back and try something else on their menu. read more

One of the best brunch experiences !! We came to this cozy humble cafe with some of our friends! They didn't have a lot of wait time .ofcourse we had been there in a Monday . We ordered form the egg menu and the pancake special . The bread was home made and though I am usually not a fan I loved the bread. You could actually feel the flavors (caramel pecan, cinnamon ) one after another melt in your mouth. I had ordered an egg Benedict with spinach and veggies. I have never tasted hollandaise sauce as creamy as this !! The eggs were cooked to perfection. It's a decent place with a store front and has all the articles for sale on the wall that also add to the decor and can accommodate big groups. The restaurant was recommended by someone in town, and we thought it sounded good. Unfortunately, this was a very negative experience, but at least it was the only negative restaurant experience during our 5 day trip to Door County. The server was sullen. The menu had many things crossed off, including ALL salads. When asked about it, the server said "it was out of season." We think that meant that the tourist season was ending, but since they were still open and Yelp says they are open year-round, we can't understand the lack of salads. They did not allow separate checks, but they did let our party of four divide the check in half, and each couple paid for half which was quite different from each couple paying for what they ordered. The real clincher came when I saw what they charged my credit card. I discovered they had added a 20% tip, which we did not authorize. I thought about contesting it, but it just feels overwhelming since I have nothing to prove what we agreed to pay. I would not return here. read more

I make sure to have breakfast here at least once during my annual trip to Door County. The interior rooms are light and airy with bright colors and cute knickknacks all around. Wonderful. Like most places, a little slow on service, given the hostess and bussers also have server duty . . . off-season and pandemic issues from staffing shortages. So, the kitchen likely also gets backed up . . . but as a nice place with friendly service, it is a great place to chill and get a great breakfast. read more

We wanted breakfast so we went there and we got 1 menu for 2 people which was odd but whatever. Then we see the menu and it's $13 for basically anything you want. $13 for 2 biscuit and gravy?! I ordered the ham and cheese omelette and they don't have American cheese so I got Monterrey which tasted terrible. There was so much grease the omelette would slide like a hockey puck when trying to cut it. I threw it away and told the lady and she didn't give a damn. She said "aw I'm sorry" and never offered tofix it, never offered a discount. She gladly took my $13.25 for the plate when I took 2 bites. This place is awful. 0 stars. I've old been to door county a few other times . My parents visit all the time, so when I visited here with them , they knew just where to go for lu ch. Do t be fooled by the bright table clothes and flamboyant decorations. They have a great menu and plenty of options to satisfy even the most picky eater. When I went for lunch , I was extremely pleased with the California sandwich with grilled chicken. It came with sprouts, guacamole, lettuce and tomatos on a toasted bun. I switched the usual Swiss cheese with Monterey Jack cheese and added Cajon Mayo. I got their steak fries which tasted fresh, thick, yet crispy. Best of all is that it is affordable. This is only a review about the business hours. We passed the place earlier in the week and saw the sign across the top of the front window; "Open daily all year" We'd heard big things about their home made Corned Beef Hash so we were excited to give it a try. Wednesday morning we pulled into the empty parking lot to find "open daily" means except Tuesday and Wednesday. All my life I was sure that Tuesday and Wednesday were part of "daily". Imagine my shock to find out everything I thought I knew to be fact is now on the table. I'm questioning everything now, my job, my marriage, my basic existence. Is the Roman Calendar even real? All things that I will have to reckon while having breakfast anywhere else. But alas, there were goats on a roof down the road and everything immediately slipped back into elliptical orbit. Stopped in here for breakfast for two, it was July 4th before a parade and so fairly busy, but we were seated right away. Our server was very cheerful and helpful. Our food took a bit to come out. I had biscuits and gravy and my wife had a potato bowl, which they're known for. We both had scrambled eggs. Both were very greasy. The biscuits on mine were a little too hard, but the gravy helped soften them. I had to stir the gravy a bit, as the grease had separated. But it was still tasty, to me. Found this place on Yelp after reading not-so-great reviews of some other local breakfast joints. We decided to try out Village Cafe and after just eating our leftovers that we warmed over our campfire we are still SO glad we came here. We had mimosas (YUM) and the original and the meat lovers potato bowls. Portions are great and we could have easily split one between the two of us and been happy. I had biscuits (which were cold), sausage, and the cafe breakfast potatoes, which were so crusted with spices that it was almost painful to eat them...and I like spicy things! I had to scrape some of it off to enjoy. The order of potatoes was so big that I shared with my family, who ordered egg combos and were pleased with their choices. This place is also tchotchke heaven. It's like your nutty aunt 's house (the one who likes signs that say things like "You don't have to be crazy to work here but it helps" and pillows with "This house ruled by one spoiled cat") times a thousand. The menu was delightful and had many options that would surely satisfy all people. The food placed in front of us was scrumptious, fresh, unique and plate licking good! The servers need a lesson in customer service. 95% of them were from Russia and do not know how to focus on the customer with friendliness, service, respect, and attention. My wife and I and our kids decided to have breakfast here before we left door County for the weekend. The place had a very interesting ambience, kind of a modern kitschy type of feel. The food that we had was good but it was not outstanding. I had the chicken Creole Benedict, but it felt a little bit more like a Burrito than it did Creole Benedict. My wife had the huevos rancheros and potatoes. She thought the salsa was very good, but the potatoes were overseasoned. A nice place that a shop owner recommended for brunch. It was pretty busy when we got there - just at the end of the breakfast rush. We were seated after just a short wait and had our ordered drinks within minutes. I ordered the spicy crab and cream cheese omelette and my brunch companion got the quiche of the day.
