We were visiting Sedona and this restaurant was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to try it out. It's a cozy little restaurant with nice ambience. There are not a lot of tables so we had to wait a bit for a table for 3. The clam chowder was as very delicious, but other than that the food was ok. We tried the meatloaf, orchestra pasta, and ahi tuna. The food is definitely pricey but I will say that the portions were large and we couldn't finish them. The drinks are also very expensive. Let me start off by saying this would not be my first pick in Sedona. There's too many restaurants with great food options , beautiful ambiance and scenic views...This is more like last resort . In fact, I ended up here because I missed my reservation at Mariposa's. The staff is super friendly and the food is tasty ,the crab cake is exceptional but the portions were TINY. I've dinned at some of the finest 4 star restaurants in LA and have been served bigger portions. The portions may be tiny but the prices aren't , when the bill came, I felt like I got ripped off. Exceptional service- the lead waiter/captain has an extensive understanding of food and wine, is well travelled and has great stories. I was in early and also was able to visit with the chef and staff and it's clearly a happy bunch. I chose a surf and turf special that was prepared perfectly. I asked for it to be plain to check the quality which was exceptional, but also added the sauces and herb butters later and they were equally good. I wanted to try the bread service but was full. Good but could improve! I'm giving it 5 stars because of our server and the restaurant's ability to cater to my husbands extreme food allergies (wheat, dairy, nuts, etc). Our server, Jacob was extremely kind and personable and one of the nicest servers we had in Sedona. My husband really enjoyed the fillet and and said it was the best cut of steak he had while in Sedona (compared to the vault and the Hudson) My complaints are: -the entrance was kind of hard to find for someone who had never been in the area before. -I really wish the menu was more customizable and had more side options. Due to my fiancés allergies he couldn't have any of the built in sides so he just got the filet without the sides which was still the same price. The other restaurants in the area were able to give him side options he could have/liked. I'm picky so I also rejected the extras and it would've been nice to have more options. (Fries, Mac and cheese, broccoli, dairy free potatoes, etc) -another small thing is I wish nice restaurants with little tables would do away with giant menus! It's not practical when the menus don't fit on the table and makes the dining experience a bit uncomfortable Overall we will return if we find ourselves in Sedona again a but hope they add a bit more to the menu! read more

This restaurant has potential. We started off with the crab cakes which were heavy with the lemon and miracle whip. Secondly, we shared the French onion soup and Cesar salad. Both were eh just average. For our mains, the lamb shank was a chef special. The lamb was tender and flavorful. My husband's filet was cooked to order but had an interesting taste of cinnamon and clove (was not described on the menu) and what really got this review 2 stars were the instant mashed potatoes and super dry lobster tail. If we would have been at a casual dining spot the food and service would have been acceptable. But waiting an hour for bone dry pork and plain Jane meatloaf is sickening. Also, if you are going to brag about the "home made bread" it should be more than simple yeast rolls. In fact, you should probably just buy them frozen because they aren't any better than Rhode's rolls in the freezer section. In this town you need to up your game. read more

We were expecting the best food in Oak Creek...the food did not live up to the expectation. My meatloaf was very bland and seemed even hard. The rest of the group also had higher expectation given the hype but we were let down. Maybe it was just a bad night. Newly opened high end steak/seafood house in The Collective Sedona in VOC (on the backside in the old J Wine Bistro spot) by Chef John & Sedona local Nikki Ramagli on 3/24/2023. They also run Rotten Johnny's Woodfired Pizza Pie. Nice to have this new option in the Village. Ample parking. We enjoyed the relaxed, casual dining concept - plan for up to 2hours. The menu features organic meats from small farms, such as Aspen Ridge, Snake River Farms, Cascade Creek and Niman Ranch and farm-to-table veggies. They also have seafood, nightly specials and a 4-course tasting menu created monthly by Chef John. Wine list is extensive, but they also have a cocktail and beer menu. Best to make a reservation well in advance, just like for all decent Sedona restaurants, on Open Table or call. Only one caveat - a 3.9% fee will be added to all credit and debit card transactions, but they accept checks. read more

Absolute amazing food and service! My wife took me there in my birthday and I was blown away by the meal. It's a casual yet upscale setting with guitars and wine bottles and candlelit tables. The quality of my steak was amazing- obviously local and organic with a very high end blue cheese. The quality of the seafood was incredibly complimented with a wine butter sauce. I'm from phoenix and would drive back just to try it again. I was fortunate enough to meet the chef/owner and he was passionate about quality without being pretentious. My wife & I were visiting Sedona for a little R&R. We stayed at the Blue Rock Inn and wanted to find a good restaurant within walking distance. So we "Yelped" restaurants nearby and perused the reviews & menus and thought the Village Chophouse looked appealing. We hit the jackpot! Our walk was a delightful 10-15 minutes with fantastic views of the red rock silhouettes! When we arrived we were greeted by a dapperly dressed gentleman that held the door open and welcomed us to their establishment. Waiting at the podium was an even more dashing dressed gentleman that asked if we had reservations (we did not) and was able to find us a table, I'm sure, only because it was a Wednesday night. He ended up being our waiter and provided the utmost in service. The martinis were exquisite and just the right dryness too. We had the chef's choice of fresh oysters for appetizers, the variety was a selection that was obviously done with care & deliberation...the pear vinaigrette was to dye for...I saved a little & drizzled it over my wedge salad. The salad was perfectly chilled, crisp with huge chunks of blue cheese! We chose to have the Salmon and the Orchetta Pasta, both were beyond excellent, the chef (who came out to say hello & asked if he could do anything more), is truly an artist in food preparation. The charred broccolini in the pasta with a red meat sauce that tasted like no other (it seemed like an italian recipe from the old country) was cooked to perfection. The carrot cake dessert with the flaming strawberry on the side was homemade just as our friendly waiter has told us! My only regret is that we didn't do any wine pairing but we had polished off a bottle at our hotel room beforehand. I would like to suggest the restaurant have some sort of handout available with background stories on the guitar collection that truly adds to the ambiance of the wine racks, bar setting & beautifully done tile background behind the open-air kitchen! We will never come to Sedona again without stopping at the Village Chophouse, thank you for the experience!!! read more

They texted me to confirm my reservation the day before it was scheduled. I confirmed it and got a text saying it was successful. I got an email a couple hours later saying it was cancelled. I called them but no answer. I left a message and received no reply whatsoever. I called again the day of the reservation and Matt told me they cancelled due to a conflict and that I wouldn't be able to come in that day. Super unprofessional behavior by the restaurant staff. Went for dinner last night. Will mention highs and lows. Highs: Caesar salad dressing, ahi poke, small filet. Lows: Lacks chophouse ambiance, high prices for quality of food, steak tartare unseasoned and comes with soft non-crusty dinner roll, meatloaf dry with bland brown sauce and just a slab of ground meat with nothing else added, mashed potatoes scooped on plate (obviously had been sitting awhile in steam table) and luke warm, way undercooked green beans thrown on plate, salmon covered with brown sauce that resembled that on meatloaf. Server Mario nice but made mistakes on drink orders, didn't offer ground pepper like he did other tables, we usually had to pour our own wine refills, let water glasses go dry, had no enthusiasm like other servers we witnessed. there are very few restaurants you go to that on the drive home you talk about how much you love and enjoy it so much well this is one of those places this place is very small it's in a round building so you can see every table and the kitchen is right there and the owner there cook your food for the 20 tabels or so now for the food it was just so flavor full to start the wedge salad had corn tomato olives blue cheese and a amazing vinaigrette the bake potato was a little hard but what ever they put on it make it tast like the beat potato soup you ever had but not being a soup they had a 24oz snake river porterhouse that was very good too not sure if they marinade or it just the seasoning they but on it but it was one best steak I had the dessert are so good my favorite was the banana foster it was made the right way with the caramelize banana the banana liqueur and grand Marnier the moose was good too the service both servers are grate keep everything full took the time to talk to us just a grate experience I think is one of the best restaurants in sodona I would but agent's Binkleys or Kai in phoenix if you in sodona it's a must I will definitely take the drive from phoenix just to go for dinner read more

We arrived without reservations and found ourselves so lucky to be quickly seated. Our server Calvin was on-point with guiding us through the amazing cocktail, appetizer and drink menu. It was a very beautiful and friendly environment and we had a great conversation with the couple at the table next to us. We started with some oysters. The cocktails were well-crafted. We were pleasantly shocked and surprised when told that they ribeye was sadly not aged for 45, but for 60 days. And they had the most decadent foie gras on the menu for the night. Calvin took the time to pair us with an amazing wine as well. The salmon was seasoned and prepared to perfection. The French onion soup was so flavorful and we finished the evening with limoncello! Our food was prepared to perfection, and the portions are enough for 2 in our opinion. Everything we have tried at The Village Chophouse has been exactly as we hoped. Calvin makes the best Rye Old Fashions. Be sure to ask for Rye instead of Bourbon. The schnitzel is in our top 5 best we have had. You cannot go wrong with the sea bass. There is a difference between seeing what's on the menu and executing it. The menu looked promising, but whoever is cooking needs to be fired. DO NOT order the beef tartare. It was so salty from the over saturated Dijon, but then they overloaded it with capers. Then we ordered 2 old fashioned drinks, not only did the bartender not make it, the freaking waiter did, and it was by far the worst old fashioned I ever had. I couldn't drink it, it was that bad. I couldn't understand it, it wasn't that busy, why didn't the bartender make it? Anyway, I ordered the pork schnitzel.... My god....it was so bad, look, I'm not a prude, but if I'm charged $35 for something that realistically should be no more than $16, it better be good. Not only was the schnitzel dry as a bone, it was burnt on the bottom, and the egg on top, the yolk was fully cooked, AND the chopped "grilled" vegetables were not grilled, they were Burnt. Badly burnt. In the end, I would say stay far away from here until they get a good chef and an expediter to make sure what leaves that kitchen is acceptable. The host said sorry you have to be seated outside, I said oh no I would prefer inside, can we sit at the bar if there's spots open and he said yes! 2. We go to the bar and immediately this weird guy says sorry you can't eat here, we were like what? 3. We said fine. We will go somewhere else however, this dude continued to harass me and yell at me across the bar! Unacceptable and not professional at all. I ordered the clam chowder. It was rich creamy, and had fresh steamed clams on top. Very thick with celery potato.. a little bit too much celery for me. Clams were fresh and not chewy.. the New York strip was a perfect medium rare. Very tender good marbling, and a nice light crust on the outside.. the crabcake was huge. There was a ton of lump crab meat, and very little filler.. they did a good job at holding it all together, and I had a light crust on the outside. Not sure what they put on top for a sauce, but it would added a great touch and flavor. It's very small restaurant with every seat having a complete view of the kitchen.. with it being a fully open kitchen surprisingly, it was not too loud. Restaurant is small, so it helped keep down the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. four out of five, but an eight out of 10.. if we're back in Sedona, we would definitely consider going back. read more
