The best restaurant in Sedona. Not even close. The black cod with charred broccoli is a poem. Marco is a brilliant young chef and his daughter 'Tony adds all the character this place needs. It's tiny and, because its always full, loud. Features a raw bar. My wife loves the chicken Alfredo over ziti and we both like the eggplant parm with shrimp scampi. Other dishes are crazy and inventive like the roasted cauliflower with fig and hummus. They have a modest, appropriate selection of wines and beer. A bright light. Definitely make reservations or you will have to wait outside. read more

Finally got around to trying Saverino's and the only bad part is I wish I had visited it sooner. This little eatery in the Food City shopping center is a gem. It's top drawer all the way. The owner and chef, Marco, knows what he's doing. Besides being an excellent chef, he's a cordial host, often coming out from the kitchen to greet customers and ask how they liked their meals. I've only been twice but this place will be in my dining out rotation as my favorite. Being half Italian and married to another part Italian woman, we've experienced, (and prepared), a lot of Italian fare. This is among the best we've ever had. Fresh ingredients sourced from Italy; Nonna's recipes for sauce (gravy), meatballs and other family favorites. Their sauce is excellent like fine aged wine. It cooks low and slow for multiple hours just like my mother used to make it. Their meatballs are as close to the best I've ever tasted. Whether you want a classic but upscale Italian sandwich or a top notch, authentic Italian dinner, this is the place in all of the Verde Valley. It's casual but smartly decorated. I can tell that their wine list, while not huge, was carefully constructed so that it features a couple of affordable local selections all the way to top drawer bottles of Brunello and other Italian varietals. They have a full bar and their bartender knows how to make a perfectly balanced Manhattan. It's family owned and operated by Marco, his wife and two children. Their young daughter Toni is a delight - friendly, confident and a hard worker. She'll own her Dad's restaurant one day. I can't wait to return very soon. Disclaimer: Rarely five stars, because there is always room for improvement. So, I met Marco, the Owner, on one of his last days as Sous Chef at Up The Creek in Cornville. We were discussing good Italian food in Cottonwood, which is few and far between. He said he was leaving UTC to open his own spot. We chatted about his menu and I diligently watched the reviews on Nextdoor and gave some time before I came in. Well that time came! I went on a Wednesday around 12:30 and was greeted by Marco's daughter. She asked if I had a reservation, which I did not, but other reviews mention it can get busy at night, so reservations are encouraged. I was seated and greeted and brought water. The space itself is smaller but open and airy. There are 5-6 booths and a few tables for service, as well as a bar and a raw bar with seating. The menu is compact but the options are all enticing. Portions are good sized so everything is shareable I'd say. They serve beer and wine only I think, but don't quote me on that. I wanted to try a few things and bring it was a hot day, I opted for apps and salad. The roasted cauliflower was beyond. Sliced cauliflower patties with olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, olives, garlic and a balsamic. It was too the moon. Of course I had leftovers and ate it cold later that night and honestly it was even better. The garlic confit bread was good. Healthy portion of lovely Italian bread that's grilled with garlic confit, oil and baked Parmesan. Personally...I would have liked to see maybe goat cheese or another soft cheese versus the Parmesan, but it was still full of flavor. Again, tasted stellar when I ate it later! I also ordered the Caesar salad, which comes with anchovies (I opt out). The dressing has a lovely lemony finish and great tanginess. I did request a side of it! Again, made two meals. Marco and his family run this place and are fabulous. You can tell they love what they're doing. Marco and I chatted during my lunch; he greeted every table that was there. His wife Faith is lovely. When she offers you dessert, make sure you accept. I saved room for dessert, of which there isn't a menu! Must ask your server! I had the tiramisu ... OMG!!!!! Do NOT sleep on this, you'll be sorry. It was light and beyond decadent. The espresso and the filling and OMG...it's homemade and you can just taste the love. I ate the entire piece...lol Marco makes a lot in house...I hear the meatballs are bomb so next time. What isn't made in house is ordered from Italy and is top grade. I strongly recommend you come try them out. Check the hours and be prepared for some really lovely elevated home style Italian in the Verde Valley. read more

We had a great experience at Saverino's Italian Kitchen. The roasted cauliflower and hibachi appetizers were phenomenal. As were the spaghetti and meatballs, beef carpaccio, cannolis, and tiramisu. Our server as well as the lovely hostess were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The owner came by to greet guests while we were there which was a nice, personal touch. My Mother and Father and I went here recently and it was AMAZING! We ordered appetizers and 3 different things so we could sample a bit of everything, and it was all great. Wonderful find in Cottonwood tucked away in a non descript shopping area off of 89A and Main. Oysters were extraordinary and I had had them all over the country. Our celebratory lunch at Saverino's was AMAZING! The portions were a great size and the food was beyond impeccable! We had a large party, including a toddler and his gigantic bowl of buttered noodles kept him very happy for a long time! My husband loves carpaccio and said it was the best he's had in this area! It is a small place, but the wait staff were kind and checked on us often, bringing anything we needed quickly and they were all helpful with recommendations as well. What a surprising delight! My friend could not stop talking about Saverino's and their cauliflower salad so I had to check it out. It was the best "meal" I've had in a long long time. The flavors were fresh, rich, unique, with a beautiful blend of sweet, salty and savory textures. I literally lingered with each bite. Well, we waited too long to make our dinner experience at Savarinos. We totally regret not coming sooner. The Italian dishes are extraordinary, with exceptional care in the creation of the Italian gravy. Reminds me of being in Little Italy in NY. Saverino's Italian restaurant is a delightful dining experience. The food is exquisite and fresh, with generous portions, and cooked to perfection. We had the roasted cauliflower with chopped dates, capers, sun-dried, tomatoes, pine, nuts, and tahini dressing that was phenomenal. Saverinos in cottonwood We started by walking into the place with no reservations.,(which i recommend it's a small place and people know it's great food) we were met by the hostess young "Toni", obviously the owners child learning the business, she was pleasant knowledgeable and professional, at 10 years old she's very impressive, reservations at that point were full and Toni managed to get us into a table anyway, fabulous, that made me happy. The owners at one point came out and spoke to us Marco and Belinda are very very sweet people very nice the whole atmosphere was very pleasant. Then came Deborah, our waitress, she knew everything there was to know about these dishes, recommended things according to your taste as it can be portrayed. Deborah was warm, welcoming, and very pleasant and comfortable, she's obviously in her Realm. We had an olive appetizer that she recommended that came with bread and it was to die for, and it was huge, I honestly could've gone home happy at that point. We each had margaritas that Deborah also recommended and she wasn't kidding they were the best I've had in ages. For our meal we had the sausage and shrimp rigatoni alla vodka, this one alone would bring me back to eat there, absolutely incredible, the flavors blended perfectly and every bite was mmm. And the tomatoe basil, this meal was pleasant and light and refreshing, this one would also make a great lunch if you didn't want to feel heavy after a meal. We were checked on often, and you could feel that your business was truly appreciated, (something that is rare in itself these days) So I have to say I'm very critical of food I'm definitely what you would call a foodie and I could find nothing to complain about with this meal, the service or the atmosphere we also took home an order of Meatballs for my mother and they also were to die for no tomatoey tasting sauce it was extremely good. So if you're looking for fast cheap and easy don't go to this restaurant because there's a lot of time and love put into this food, genuine hospitality and it shows, I highly recommend it. read more

Living in Sedona, we have an opportunity to experience really great food, service and ambiance. We had the opportunity to celebrate our lovely friends for their 60th Anniversary and were surprised when they suggested Saverino's in Cottonwood as their preferred choice of venues. Boy, were we happy they did! Saverino's has everything you want in a first-class restaurant experience...white glove service, incredible food, and a warm and friendly atmosphere.
