One of the best dinners I've had in a long time. Storytellers doesn't disappoint! To begin, there was a mix-up with our reservation for seven yet the maitre'd swiftly accommodated us. An unexpected 7-top? Some establishments would turn us away or be put out by the inconvenience, but we were swiftly given a table and made to feel welcome. So that impressed me from the get-go. Next, our server was professional and so adept at handling our many drink orders and appetizers. Handling a table of 7 takes skill. He was unfazed and never missed a beat. So, that impressed me. Then came the food: from the Brussels sprouts to the mushrooms to the salads - we ate like royalty! My salmon was cooked to perfection. I'm told the pork chop was divine. The beet salad was also a hit. It was all so good. So, add more stars to my experience. And then of course there was dessert, which I didn't try, but we ordered pistachio gelato and crème brûlée and everyone gushed and raved. Nice. Then we all rolled ourselves out to the casino and had an amazing time. It was an evening "that stories were made." If you have the wallet (as these places rightly command a fair price tag), please take my advice and enjoy as evening here: make some stories of your own. read more

This restaurant is our place for that special occasion-- the ambiance is so romantic The service is spot on and our server, Brett, was so attentive. My husband had the the Chilean shrimp and lobster pasta which was delicious!!! We also had the brussel sprouts appetizer, which is incredible-- highly, highly recommended!!! I had the 8 oz. filet mignon, medium rare--yum, yum!! Now this is the one suggestion-- they recently changed their menu and no longer have a choice of potato with the steak. You get soup, French onion or butternut squash(which they had run out of the previous night) or a house salad (which is nothing special). Instead, now they serve the steaks with two onion rings on top and you have to order a potato ala carte. This is something that I missed--I really think they are spot off on this change. It's supposed to be so tender you can cut it with a fork almost..... mom's and sisters carrots were not even cooked through. Great place for a date night. This restaurant is located inside of a 'cave' at Cliff Castle Casino. The ambiance is quiet and romantic. The menu is small and leaning toward the steakhouse vibe. The food is hit or miss, but mostly on point. The caesar salad with anchovies is delicious, although a bit high for what you get. I ordered the Flat-Iron Steak (Ten-ounce Certified Angus Beef with a Crawfish Beurre Blanc, Smashed Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes & Grilled Asparagus) and it was crazy spicy, even though no heat level was mentioned. It was so bad, we both sent it back and the manager even agreed. The wine list is miserable, but the new manager is fixing that. Most of us ordered steaks. Mine was ...let's say it wasn't the worst ever, but it was in the top 10...overcooked and definitely not a prime cut. I've had better choice steaks out of the grocery store at home. We took our son and his family here for a special dinner on Saturday night after his graduation from NAU. We had reservations for 6:30 pm, the graduation ended a bit earlier than we planned so we arrived 40 minutes early. When I asked if there was a way we could be have our table early I was told no, that they were just too busy and were full despite having several empty tables. We waited until 6:30 and they said we could go to our table. It took 30 minutes to have our drinks arrive, the bread they finally got around to bringing was stale and ice cold. We were never asked if we wanted appetizers or told about any specials. Our server disappeared after drinks were finally brought, we didnt see him again for almost 45 minutes and had to tell him we wanted to order. When the food finally got to our table the steaks were horrible! They were supposed to be "Chared" but tasted burnt. The baked potato was also horrible, it was supposed to be "Loaded" but just had a ton of very sour tasting Sour Cream. While we waited forever for the server to finally come back again with the check the Manager came over to see how things were, my son explained that we were not happy but wanted the check. The Manager never said "I'm so sorry to hear that", nothing!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone. I have been to several Steakhouses in Scottsdale and San Diego this place is nothing close to a Steakhouse. read more

Our family's experience at Storytellers has been nothing less than fabulous. We haven't had one even less perfect dinner here. We are a family of six. The food has been consistent on flavor. The steak is always prepared as ordered. I love that they feature local wine from local wineries & beers from brewers. The presentation is appetizing and front page perfect. Well very disappointing dinner. Menu is missing quite a few keys items that are offered with the online menu. The shrimp cocktail was horrible. The shrimp was very hard, over seasoned, and the cocktail sauce tastes almost like marinara sauce. Didn't even bother eating my steak just had it boxed so we could leave. My drink was never refilled and we were left waiting to pay our check because they did not have cash to make change. To top it off our server was not personable at all.. not sure if she was having a bad day or if that is how she treats guests on a regular basis. The food was delicious. I shared the Ribeye steak and Arugula salad with my husband. The service was great our waitress was very nice and attentive especially for a party of 12. I love the Ambience of the restaurant it's like your in a cave. I definitely would recommend to family and friends for a Special Occasion. It's a little pricey but worth it. We celebrated two Birthdays that evening and our waitress brought out a slice of chocolate cheesecake for my husband and a crème brûlée for my cousin. I was a bit surprised when checking in to see the star ratings for this place. I felt it was a super neat vibe appearing underground with the cave like feel. Our waitress was stellar, professional and kind. The food was nothing to complain about either. I had the starter salad, fillet with seasonal veggies and a potatoes I believe. I felt the portion size was perfect and everything tasted really good. My guy had the same meal only he got it with the Canadian Lobster. Our little decided she wanted to keep the shell, yes, I know, I know but hey man, whatever... we had a laugh and our waitress brought us the to-go container for our little's new friend. Granted it didn't really make it all the way home but the gesture of keeping the little one happy went a mile. They had menu items for the kids which is always good and the dessert, oh my, so good. I really enjoyed it. The bruchetta was also very good, heavy on the garlic but isn't that how it's supposed to be? Minus the fact that we had to wait 15 minutes to get a server to tend to our table... It was a nice experience. Dans, Beyonce of the place is incredible. When you get a booth, it feels as though you're in a cave. Very secluded and private perfect for a romantic dinner. The weird part about it was the place was totally empty and it was a Friday night. I'm wondering if the people enjoy gambling more than having fine dining. Regardless we both ordered the steak. I had a filet and he had ribeye. The steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered so we were very pleased. I loved my filet and also ordered the béarnaise sauce to top it off and it was on point. He ordered the ribeye, but he thought he could have had a better steak. It was nice to see that sides came with the steak, which you don't typically see at the steakhouse. When we arrived we were greeted by the rudest host we've ever encountered. We had waited until the restaurant opened at 5pm so we were the first people in. She asked us how many for dinner and my husband and I said "two" She proceeded to tell us in a rude manner that she could not seat us because she only had one server and one bus person. We said that's okay we could wait. She said NO I don't have enough people to wait on you! ! I said Ma"am what do you mean?, why are you talking to us like this? She repeated again with her voice loud now, I don't have enough people to serve you!!! Just then the manager walks up, very nice man, and asks what's going on? The woman host mutters under her breath something. I told him we did not understand why she would not seat us. He quickly said we needed a reservation and they were booked up until 8pm. That's all I needed to hear and of course understood. Unbelievable to us we had to go through all that, to be talked to like that by this host when all she needed to say was what the manager had told us. On our last visit was we were totally disappointed and we all agreed not to return. Luckily we did return by chance/for a night of chance... last night ... and I'm pleased to tell you there is a NEW menu and NEW chef "Keith". The food was outstanding, generous portions, every appetizer, entrée, side and dessert was delicious and made to order. Close your eyes and your taste buds transported you to the best steakhouse in New York or seafood entrée in Italy. This night we ordered the seafood Mac and cheese and lobster with two salads . Caesar salad and storyteller salad . I thought the food was okay to be honest. What ticked me off and the reason I am not going back ever again is baked potatoes are not an option with an expensive steak. Mashed potatoes are included. Driving to Sedona from Tuscon AZ after work on a Friday, we were hungry and it was getting late. Casino right outside of Sedona attracted our attention, and we stopped to check out their buffet food options. Not a pleasant story to tell, however that's what made us take a look at Storytellers Steakhouse directly next door, wonderful old caves-like ambiance was appealing, and we decided to give it a try. The waitress was incredibly attentive, and even though the bar didn't have all the right ingredients for the drink I ordered, somehow the waitress and bartender got together and figured out how to make me a fabulous drink. My husband had a steak that was tender and cooked exactly how he ordered it, an appetizer special was creative and very appealing, and dessert was great. Wonderful experience in a very unlikely location, inside the casino, right outside of Sedona. If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend to give them a try! read more

This has always been my favorite restaurant to dine. It was always so much more than just good food, great chef, host, and waiters and waitresses. The reason for only 2 stars is because: 1. Called days ahead and left a message that we wanted a reservation on a specific date and time. No one ever seemed to answer the telephone. We received a callback 2 hours prior to our reservation time on the date we asked for the reservation. 2. On the date of reservation and callback, we did say, Yes we will still come but since you are calling us 2 hours prior to our reservation time to let us know it is available we will be 30 minutes late. 3. We we showed up at the restaurant, we stood at the front for 10 minutes before anyone noticed we were there and then the host who was very rude made a comment that he was about to take our name of the list as No Shows! 4. We were told that Chef DiLuca was still the there and found out he is not the chef any longer. Dining out should be the whole experience and it is not only about good food. read more

Then our waiter left us with empty drinks for over 20 minutes until we could finally get his attention. When our food came my wife's steak was fine, but my seafood and pasta dish was terrible. The shrimp which was in a sauce had not been cleaned or shelled. Imagine how gross it is to put a shrimp in your mouth that still has the legs and shell on. When I asked a manager about it she didn't know if that was wrong or not and had to ask the cook. The cook stated he had no idea how that could have happened, BUT IT DID! And the worst of it is the manager did nothing about it. Not even offering us anything to compensate us for a ruined anniversary dinner and still charged us for the meal I couldn't eat. This place is seriously amamzing. It seems on the surface to be a very expensive place.... but its actually surprisingly affordable. Remember being on a res.... theres no sales tax. 3rd was the 2nd visit we had and Cricket the hostess was as always amazing. She is warm, welcoming and very helpful in arranging Birthdays and valentines day. The food is fantastic.... there are not many places to get a whole unbelivable rack of ribs for $25 with sides. The embience of Storytellers is amazing. its very romantic, dark with water features and native american accents. Service was very attentative! Try it. We had reservations for 5:45 PM. The restaurant was not at all crowded and seemed short wait staff. The wait time was long. It was a full hour from when we entered the restaurant until we received our entrees. My wife had a Shrimp Cocktail for appetizer. The shrimp cocktail was good although she would prefer the standard cocktail sauce over the Sriracha sauce they served. We both ordered steak. My wife had the 10oz Filet Mignon. It was an excellent steak and was cooked perfectly to order. I was not so fortunate with my Bone-In Ribeye. It was thin, had no bone and was nearly half inedible fat and gristle (a very nice reward for our dog which had to stay home). (showed the server) Not ok. We Sent it back server came back and said sorry we only have a small cast iron pans and you ordered one of our larger steaks it doesn't fit in the pan. I told him ok then we will take one of you smaller steaks if that's the case. He came back with another porterhouse steaks that wasn't cooked Pittsburg style again, still over cooked but a little better med rare to med this time. He said he was gonna let his manager come over to talk to us. 15 mins later she came over picked up our plates and said hope you enjoyed your dinner, never introduced herself as a manager nothing. We weren't sure who she was, luckily we point blank asked her if she was the manager, she said I was gonna come talk to you. (No she had our plates in her hand getting ready to walk away) we told her about our food she said the same thing don't have a cast iron pan big enough.. I said you are a steak house and you do t have a pan big enough? Told her about my veggies she said she would be back she had to talk to the cook another 15 mins. In no hurry what so ever. She laid our check down and said can I bottle your wine up. Basically saying I am done to bad so sad. When you think you ordered this and received that not once but twice. Thank goodness we ordered some blue cheese for the top of our steak kinda helped still just horrible a $55 dollar steak I expect it to be good. We decided to try this restaurant because the menu looked good and were were tired of eating Johnny Rockets during our visits to Cliff. We also thought this was more of a fine dining experience, however, it was really not if you compare to any restaurants in the Phoenix metro area, which is where we live. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was fine, but the overall food was just ok. It is not worth the price and nothing to write home about. We both ended up sick from the dinner within a few hrs of eating. I was playing on a slot machine and felt extremely queasy all of a sudden and had to leave the machine. My fiance was also sick and complaining of his stomach being messed up around the same time as well. For the rest of the night we didnt feel well and we were perfectly fine before dinner. I am going to leave my "fine dining " experiences in the valley and stick to Johnny Rockets when visiting the cliff. This place is mediocre and expensive for what you get. PS...when ordering a steak Oscar style, you expect crab meat to be on the top, not a warmed up tiny crabcake that seemed like it came from a Sam's club box. read more
