There used to be a Village Inn at Providence Road and Lumsden Road, but it closed shortly before Mel's Diner opened in that spot. This new location is about a mile away, at Lumsden Road and Providence Lakes Boulevard. It's located in a busy plaza, nestled between Starbucks, GameStop, Tijuana Flats, and several other shops and restaurants. Parking is plentiful and easy to find. The restaurant is newer, very clean, and a bit smaller than the previous location. I've visited twice already, and both times it was fairly quiet when I arrived. I don't think many people realize it's here yet, even though it's been open for about a year. We were seated quickly, and after ordering, our food arrived promptly and was cooked perfectly. The staff has been attentive, friendly, and welcoming on both visits. Overall, it's a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with fast service, good food, and a comfortable atmosphere. Came in for a weekday lunch craving fish and chips, and left with a very satisfied tummy and a happy mood. It's a diner, so of course I got coffee. I really loved that they brought the entire pot to the table and let me refill my own mug--this makes a big difference for both temperature and pacing. I ordered the fish and chips, which comes with a choice of side, and I opted for the coleslaw. I was pleasantly surprised when the plate arrived--three pieces of fish! The fish was perfectly crispy and fresh, piping hot (almost tongue-burning hot, in the best way). A bite of hot fried fish with a dab of tartar sauce really hits the spot. I also loved the crinkle-cut fries, especially that they didn't get soggy even as they cooled. Given the generous portion size, I finished the fish and took the fries home. The coleslaw wasn't drenched in mayo, which I appreciated. It leaned a bit heavier on pepper and celery flavor than my personal preference, but it was still refreshing. I also noticed that the far end of the diner has an area with single and double-occupancy seating, along with a row of outlets along the wall. I thought that was a really thoughtful touch--it sends a welcoming signal to solo diners who may want to eat, linger, and even get some work done. Paired with the clean and bright environment, this place is definitely going on my pocket list. One note: the location applies an automatic 18% gratuity for dine-in. I really appreciated that they post clear signage up front and that the servers check with guests to see if they've dined here before--if not, they verbally explain the policy again. The customer service was very good; we were seated quickly, and our meals came out promptly. The dining area was also very clean, which we appreciated. The PTA here at Symmes Elementary had our teacher appreciation breakfast catered by the Village Inn in Brandon. Not only was the food delicious but it was fresh! Mark, the manager, was incredible! He worked with us to make sure we had enough food for our teachers and staff. He made sure we had everything we needed by way of condiments and cutlery as well. CHECK YOUR CHECK: Another "undisclosed" scam on consumers. First let me say the food was good B U T Had breakfast at Village Inn, Brandon, FL this morning. Check comes and I ask the waitress if the "18% Service Fee" included in the bill is the tip? She said no. She went on to explain that servers are now " contract employees" and the service fee goes to Corporate to "pay their salary" and you are expected to add an additional tip. NO WHERE is this stated. So the 18% now becomes 36% and I'm paying the employees salary. I feel bad for the employees and big SHAME on Village Inn for not being upfront with their customers (now X customer) Just checked out who gets the "service fee" in the hospitality industry and it goes to the Owner/Restaurant to use/disburse at their discretion. Value for food here is exceptional. The servers are all very friendly and always attentive. You can't go wrong with the liver and onions if you like that my husband loves the pot roast. We both have been very impressed with the French toast. It's better than most high class places. You can come here very casually and feel right at home. It's very reasonably priced and the servers always try to do their best to make it a great experience server. I can only speak to the pie and the customer service we've received from this location, but it's been fantastic! We eat healthily 5 days per week. I'm talking no sugar, no gluten, no dairy. So when it comes to our weekend and cheating we stumbled upon this Village Inn. We were driving past late one night and randomly thought to stop. We loaded up with a mini buffet of slices for ourselves. It's now become a little tradition on Sat nights. The girls remember us and are always engaged and fun to deal with, as well as prompt and professional. The key lime pie is amazing. My wife is in love with it! We had to pass First Watch to get here, and I should have just stopped. I love First Watch, but I haven't been to a Village Inn for awhile so there we went. When you walk in, you're greeted by a pie case full of stuff that's super tempting, but also gives you the feeling of "how long has that stuff been there"? Yeah. I don't know, but the pies look great! The greeter/cashier on the other hand wasn't as put together as the pies were. No offense. I have a teenage son at home and I know when he doesn't wash well. You can smell the funk. Same smell. I'm not making fun of people on yelp, just an observation. If I can smell your unwashed hair and body, there are problems. I would have left if she was our server, but she wasn't. The appearance of the restaurant needed help, just as I think all breakfast spots do to an extent. Denny's, Waffle House, etc. There are just groady spots on the walls, syrup on the table, the normal things that slide by. Our server was pretty prompt. They were pushing a menu item pretty heavily, but carbs. I'm not vilifying carbs, but they're not for me right now so no. No thanks to amazing pie or weird skillet concoctions. I appreciated the build your breakfast menu. The price was right, and the food was as expected. I got a cheese omelette with bacon, sausage, and a burger patty for $8 and some change. Anywhere else would have charged way more for the same thing. I really don't know if I'll come back. I like the options in terms of food, I didn't like the restaurant in terms of cleanliness. Man! Where do I start, nothing went right here. I literally can't find anything that went well with this quick visit. I'm never one to play the race card but I definitely felt a certain way about how everything transpired and was handled. Taking Mom out for an early Mother's Day breakfast the day before since we knew it would be crowded the day of. With everyone being in town we needed a table for 10 and I knew there would be a wait. Walked up to the hostess desk and the lady asked me "How many?" No hello, Welcome to Village Inn, nothing. I tell her 10 and then silence. She begins to rotate her hand as though I can read her mind and she eventually says "name?" and I replied with my name and also "ma'am I can't read your mind I didn't know what else you needed". She tells us it's about a 25-30 wait which is fine since we were next after a table of 3. After we arrived another group of 10 shows up and they're name is written after us. We notice a waitress is starting to set up our table for 10 so we expect that we're about to be taken to the table. We're taking selfies in the waiting area with each other basically killing time when we notice our table is now occupied by the group of 10 that showed up after us. We approach the hostess asking what's going on and she responds we'll get another table for you in a few minutes which was unacceptable. To fast forward past the hostess basically making excuses why we weren't seat and why she's right and we're wrong. My sister speaks with the manager about the situation & she apologizes and basically what everyone says "It won't happen again". We grab our group and leaves since I refuse to eat at an establishment where situations like this can happen. There is no way a table for 10 is already prepared for a group of 10 just walking in and immediately sat down when we had waited almost 30 mins. Long story short I won't return here and hope anyone reading this will find the error in how Village Inn handled this situation. They were extremely unprofessional from the time we walked in with smiles and joy and then left feeling like we were treated unfairly and unjust. Poorly managed and operated business. 5/23/19 (proud to write this updated review) Very proud to update those following this review on my experience post review. The Customer Relations contract reached out to me wanting additional information on our visit. He was very professional and I truly felt they were interested in resolving and learning more about our experience. I was later referred to a Director who explained their business strategy and how this wasn't part of it. We had a very detailed discussion and I'm glad to report back that I'm completely satisfied with the outcome and professionalism. We'll definitely frequent them again but it'll take a while for us to try this location again. As a USF alumni I frequented the Temple Terrace location often and the prices, service and quality was always great. on how this was resolved by the Village Inn senior management and customer outreach contacts. We typically go here for breakfast and my favorite item is the Philly Jack Benedict! It is to die for, when it's made right. Sometimes when they are busier the eggs are made too hard. If you are a coffee drinker they have flavored coffee creamer which is my favorite! My husband is a big pancake connoisseur and he says they have the best pancakes of the breakfast places we have tried so far in the Brandon area. The service is typically pretty good here they seem to have their staffing levels figured out for their slower versus busier times. I've tried a few of their lunch and dinner options as well, sandwiches, cheese burgers and chicken fingers and fries. My favorite was the chicken fingers and fries, would definitely get that again. It is also nice that they are open 24/7 so if you have a late night and want a meal you have the Village Inn as an option. read more

He was extremely nice and concerned, and I just want everyone to know I don't hold this against other locations, and feel confident this issue has been corrected at this location. Many thanks to David! I won't be eating at Village Inn Brandon no time soon. They brought out coffee cups for 4 people THREE times in a row that were dirty, (kept showing them the dirt and lipstick and asked for CLEAN), lipstick on them, took an hour to bring out cold breakfast, didn't get half our orders right, (got sarcastic about bringing the CORRECT order), bacon wasn't hardly cooked at all even though asked for crispy, and then got nasty with us when we complained. Cher, the waitress who took over for the new girl and obviously should know better being more experienced kept reaching over my plate to hand food to another person at our table THREE TIMES, right in front of my face - said something to her about it for her to get sarcastic about that, like that shouldn't be a bother to me. "Nobody has ever complained about that before..." go back to school for waitress mannerisms! Manager said they'd bring our food right out (at 50 minutes wait) and we still sat for another five minutes and got up to complain again. Others who had come in behind us but not a mixed group was getting their food before us, within a few minutes of ordering...literally! I won'teat there, as a veteran, for free. Had to ask for styrofoam cups to drink out of because none of their coffee cups were clean. Water glasses weren't clean. Silverware had to be soaked in steaming hot water at the table to clean off particles of food. Never again! read more

Manager is horrible. This was once a good place but no longer. Our food was messed up and when they brought it out a second time it was still not what we ordered. The manager came over and tried to say my husband and I made the mistake when we ordered. Not only did the waitress have horrible customer service skill she has learned them from a horrible manager.
