We arrived on time, only to find at least 50 people crammed into the lobby with barely any room to move. When we finally made it to check-in, the hostess casually mentioned they were running 30 minutes behind. We continued checking in and were repeatedly told we were "close," which clearly wasn't the case. I really wish they had been upfront about the actual wait time, we would have left instead of standing there for over an hour. For a restaurant that's been around this long, it's disappointing to see this level of overbooking and lack of organization, especially for a major holiday where people don't have many other options for food due to many other places being closed.

At first, it appeared they had 4 bartenders, a manager, and a barback behind the bar. However, other than the barback consistently washing/unloading dishes I am not sure what was going on with the service. Manager was not providing any assistance to his staff. However, he was filling his own water bottle. Other staff were taking selfies with guests. It took awhile to order a second round as well as pay our tab. This was a one and done visit for me.

The meat was incredibly well seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. You can tell when food is prepared by someone who truly cares about what they're making, those kinds of flavors can't be faked. The Cobb salad was equally impressive: fresh ingredients, a perfect portion size, moist chicken, and a dressing that tied everything together beautifully. The outside was a melt-in-your-mouth fried texture with the inside being soft and doughy in the best way. Paired with any of the 3 dips, it made for the most delicious appetizer that essentially filled up our entire table itself. Special shoutout to the arse sauce & their honey mustard- sooo good. The table also tried the buffalo chicken wrap (YUM), caprese sandwich (good!), and penne alla vodka (somewhat mid but better as leftovers). Sweet potato tots were the perfect side. So we tried it. Merichka's serves good food with good service in a non-fancy kind of restaurant. It has various dining areas and a small bar. The room we sat in was nondescript with not one decoration on the walls. The multiple ceiling fans were running so I froze all throughout dinner. I didn't get our server's name, but she provided good service and was engaging. She always came back to check on us. The other staff we encountered was thorough in delivering food and removing dirty plates. We started with cocktails, a bourbon neat for him and an old-fashioned for me. My husband enjoyed his bourbon, however my old-fashioned was Wisconsin style which I didn't enjoy. We shared the mushrooms as a starter - I have to admit they were perfection! The portion was generous and the crust was perfectly crispy without being greasy. I think we missed the boat, though, because we didn't order the onion rings, which looked sensational. Dinners come with a relish tray and a couple sides. The relish tray had cottage cheese, a bean salad and a pasta salad. Again, generous in size. My hubby had a steak with fried shrimp for dinner and his sides were a salad and twice baked potato. He ordered the steak rare because he didn't trust that it would be cooked to medium rare. He was right to go rare because it came out a little pink. I opted for the baked cod for dinner with a salad and twice baked potato. My cod was 12oz and was moist and flaky. I didn't even put a dent in my dinner because I was full from the mushrooms and relish tray. We ended up bringing most of our entrees home. I'm glad we tried this restaurant out, but honestly even though the food was decent, I didn't enjoy the bare bones atmosphere and being uncomfortable throughout dinner because the fans were on. I've overlooked this b/c the sauce/gravy for this meal is very watery and it's packaged in a cheap styrofoam container so what do you expect. Tonight after waiting an extra 10 mins for my order (which I also didn't make a big deal over b/c they were busy) I got to my house, (less than 10 mins away) my food was cold and sloppy and tonight I had a piece of lettuce and an over cooked macaroni noodle included inside the dish itself. My stomach also hurt really bad after I consumed this food tonight. Never again.

I was looking forward to eating here because the pictures of the fries online looked long and thick cut, the basket of fries we got didn't look like that at all and lacked Parmesan cheese. The negative experience was the fact the water tasted weird. I took one sip and tasted a weird chemical taste but my husband and I didn't complain, we just paid and left. I don't know if it was the water or the cup but it definitely had a weird taste. Overall, the experience was ok. I think we had higher expectations seeing all the pictures online. The name of the place threw us both off because we thought it was a Latino owned burger joint with a Mexican twist but that wasn't the case at all.
