Went to lunch with my girlfriends our first time but not the last. Had a wonderful soup and salad my friend had a tomato bacon sandwich it was so good! the ambience was nice too - easy access and cute decor. Our server was GREAT, Kymn was cheerful and helpful. Great place!! Our baseball team was in town for a tournament. Saturday night we all headed there for dinner amazing food, friendly staff. The owner was also very nice and welcoming of our large group. we will be back in June when we have another tournament there in Joliet. read more

Well I really wanted to love this place as it is local but have to say it was a bit disappointing, mostly the service . I'm hoping it's because it's new and they are still working out kinks and training. When you first walk in you're not quite sure if you have to wait to be seated or seat yourself . There is a sign at entrance saying name of place , they should add seat yourself please . We were told after standing in entrance a few moments to seat ourselves and we would be helped shortly . After finding a table, place was busy at 12 , we did have gentleman provide us menus and take our drink order. Once our drinks arrived , he took our order . Food took awhile , about 20 mins which was fine , but server never came back in that time to see if we wanted more water or drinks while waiting . Our server actually went to working behind the bar so we assumed a waitress would take over , nope! Once food arrived by another server, no one ever came back to our table for duration of lunch . I had to go to bar to get our refills on drinks which was disappointing. As for the food, i ordered the strawberry salad 1/2 version w grilled chicken and it was good. My husband ordered the jalapeño chicken sandwich , he said it didn't really have any flavor , that maybe a sauce should be added. The atmosphere is casual. Really wish the service was better, kinda put damper on 1st visit but I'd give them another chance as it's new and prices were reasonable . My suggestion would be add "seat yourself " to sign and maybe assign tables to waitstaff as they seemed to be scattered . read more

First time coming here! This is a brand new establishment that needs it's name on the map. I came here the other day after hearing about it in an article. The former Hammers / Fireman Ted's has a new life but this isn't a bar. It's a family restaurant! Kids are welcome! The staff here was absolutely friendly, our server Megan was really friendly though I do think they need time to find their groove, the staff aren't perfect with knowing the menu items. They dont have a drink menu (yet) the actual menu has some typos but that's about all the negative things I could point out. They had a PB&J burger, I never heard of such a thing but it was one of the most interesting and amazing burgers I've had! They have games and activities like pinball that'll enhance your stay. Situated in a strip mall so parking was easy. Exterior no rave. First thought when walking in ""Am I in a basement apartment ?" Complete with a shelf of books, bean bags chairs and assorted homey but out of place touches. Food... started with the day special, cheese sticks. Taste, look and presentation like I just popped them out of my toaster oven. Yes, that unexciting. My sandwich, Buffalo chicken. Again, no rave. Coating extremely hard, meat dense and tough. Served w coleslaw on top. Even the Cole slaw was bitter and drowned any Buffalo flavor. The meal saving grace were the onion rings. Very nice. Our server Laura, jolly on the spot although doubling as the bartender. My opinion, pass and shuffle on down the street. Not even going to talk about what appears to be the owners children calmly, but menacing passing several times. The bartender was so nice! There was a guy playing a guitar and singing some good 70s music Friday night. Nice to have that environment for folks over 50 years old. The fish was a little disappointing. When you order fish and chips, you're expecting fillets of fish, not a large size fish stick. The breading was good and cooked well. But unfortunately, the inside of the fish, that was most likely frozen initially, was not cooked long enough so it was wet and had no flavor. Maybe the oil was just a little too high? read more

We had high hopes on this new tenant. The Firemen Bar was horrible. The name is a bit confusing as a Cantina is a Spanish bar and when Irish precedes it you might expect some kind of fusion food and cocktails. That could not be the furthest thing from reality. There is nothing Irish or Cantina about this place. The walls are all but empty of any decor. Everything is painted black and the old stage area is stocked with games and an assortment of books. While our server was okay, we went long periods without her ever coming back to our table. I ordered an old fashion. It's the most basic cocktail and a great way to judge a bar. This OF was as close to undrinkable as it gets. It was bitter and very watered down. Old Fashioneds are 4-5 ingredients: Whiskey, Sugar, Bitters and garnish (cherry, not maraschino, but a dark and or an orange slice. The ice should never be anything but a few medium size cubes or one large cube. With that said, I give a pass on the ice when it's a damn good OF. Also, you NEVER muddle the garnish. Nothing should ever be floating in an OF. We ordered food. The fries were the best part of the meal and they were not that great. They were luke warm and lacked a lot of flavor. The cheese steak sandwich was definitely made from a frozen preseasoned meat. It had decent flavor but was not very hot. My wife's brisket sandwich was a disgusting frozen precooked brisket. It tasted like the plastic it was sealed in. She barely had 2 bites of the sandwich and our server never asked if it was okay. She just took it away when she said she was done. Lastly the menus were disgusting and covered in food and the ketchup on the table was empty. It was noon so there is no excuse for empty condiments on the table. Very cool place with a vibe that suits everyone. Customer service is top notch, and their daily specials are definitely cost affording. Lunch specials $9 can't get that kind of food at fast food chains! Drink specials always a variety. Friday night live music mostly acoustic which enhances the ambiance. Looking for some fun, try SINGO on Wednesday nights! The decor changes with the seasons/holiday events making it fun to experience. Menu is great but don't be afraid to ask questions many of the items are unique to their craft. We come 1-2 times a week and will continue to do so! read more

We were visiting the area from out of state. It was valentines and we wanted live music. This restaurant had possibility. Immediately we were cautiously optimistic. We found the restaurant in a strip mall that should have been our first clue. Wanting to support local businesses we went inside. The aesthetic was eclectic- I wasn't sure what the theme or season was. Our waitress was delightful. I wish I knew her name because she was the best part of our entire experience. Coming off dry January we were excited for our first drink in a month. We ordered an Irish Old Fashioned, it fell short. We also ordered a margarita- the lengthy list of flavor options were unnecessary and lends itself to the indecisive nature of the bar- are we Irish or are we Mexican? We ordered the hamburger with fries and onion rings- we found it to be tasteless and left us unimpressed. The promise of live music that originally drew us in was not what we had hoped for. Our advice for the singer is hone in on your genre, practice your craft and work on your stage presence. I wish the owners well in their future endeavors and I hope they find their groove. read more

We visited during their grand opening weekend, which usually isn't a fair time to review because a place needs to work its glitches out, but the Irish Corner Cantina nailed it! We had 2 different apps and 4 entrees. Apps: The buffalo shrimp on top of garlic mashed potatoes was outstanding. I'm planning to order it as my main next time so I don't have to share:). The homemade mac and cheese bites were crispy and we loved the chipotle ranch sauce for dipping. Mains: I had the turkey tornado--what a fun sandwich concept! Loaded with turkey but you can also order it with pulled pork or chicken tenders. My husband had the PB&J burger. The sweet/salty combo really works! It didn't taste "weird" at all. Our son had the smoked brisket sandwich and inhaled it--it must have been good:). My brother ordered the Cobb salad. It was as delicious as it was pretty. The presentation displays all the yummy avocado chunks and perfectly cooked and sliced hard boiled egg next to fanned out turkey slices. Service: boy! They were hustling! I hate when I see staff chit-chatting with each other in a corner and making customers wait. Michelle took good care of us. Ambiance: what one first notices is that this is a multi-generational place. Whole families with grandparents down to a baby in a carrier were enjoying dinner. There were tables of guys watching sports on the walls of TVs, girlfriends catching up, teens playing darts. Little kids were playing Connect Four on the stage area. Solo men having a sandwich and drink at the bar watching the hockey game. I'm glad I read about this place in the local newspaper. It's going to be our new go-to place:) read more

Was there 6/21, the service was good, the food was very good! I had boneless wings, my wife had half salad with soup. The French onion soup was pretty salty, like concentrated -possibly bottom of pot type taste. It was still decent, the wings were great, and the fried pickles were excellent! Ordered for the first time tonight- not impressed. The pretzels weren't bad but so who has pretzels with no salt lol? And neither of us liked the chicken quesadilla at all! The staff was wonderful nice and professional, but it seems it's suffering an identity crisis is it Irish food Mexican or southern Bbq joint not sure. I had the brisket sandwich which came with bbq sauce garlic mayo and Coleslaw wasn't sure how that was gonna work it didn't the brisket was very dry. I guess all the sauce was to rehydrate it. I could not eat it two bites in it was bad so I had a few cold waffle fries and called it a day, I also found it weird that the stage was set up as a play room with board games and books, also all of us at the table kept getting a whiff of raw sewage at times not sure if that was permeating through the walls from the adjoining Mexican restaurant. I rate this a 2 out of 10 being generous but the staff was great. read more
