Pan Seared Salmon (so crazy good)
    Lauren M.

BREATHTAKING! PLEASE GO HERE!! i have so much to say. immediately went on my all time favorite restaurant list. i cannot recommend them enough, everything about this place is perfect!! food: pan seared salmon: 10/10 bread with olive oil: 10/10 salted caramel cheesecake: 10/10 chocolate mouse cake: 10/10 steak of the day (filet): 10/10 FRENCH PRESS COFFEE: 10/10 my most recommended items are the bread (free), the coffee, the filet, and the chocolate mouse cake genuinely some of the best coffee i've ever had it was so good. i had like 6 cups. same with the filet i've had a lot of steak in my life and it was so tender and delicious, also the best i've ever had. the bread was divine!! so soft it was amazing. the chocolate mouse cake was giving slice of heaven it was so good. ambiance and service: BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!! i loved the paintings and they had outdoor seating that was very cute. our waiter was so so nice i believe his name was Jeffrey. if the owner is reading this give him a raise!! everyone in there rocks and was very helpful and kind. we made a reservation through open table bathroom rating: 9/10 such a cute bathroom! the soap smelled so good parking: they have their own parking lot outside, very nice but relatively small

If you have a tastebud in your body get here!!! This is the best restaurant in the Triad. Cozy, inviting, and fantastic service matches the best gourmet comfort food anywhere! Tad the owner and chef is extremely accomplished in developing a menu which has true wonderful specials everyday to go along with the stalwarts of braised beef, salmon, bistro steak, fried calamari and when on the menu best huge pork chop anywhere! This place is not to be missed... I think I own a wing there for all the times we go! desserts are good enough to want to take some home and this guy has an excellent palate for wines and drinks at very reasonable prices!( and I'm a wine collector) important to note: Best soups, risotto, and gluten free options ANYWHERE! I have TONS of requests... yes a problem customer but they never miss a beat!! I travel for a living and eat at some of the best restaurants in the country and world... MJs takes a back seat to no one!!

I took a date here for dinner. I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and my date ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Both dishes were delicious. Robust wine list. Pros: Host was friendly. Service was excellent and very attentive. Food was excellent. Con: Parking lot is very small...My date and I were seated, on what must have been a back porch, on the first floor. It was extremely noisy and I could hardly hear my date speak. I wouldn't advise taking a date here, if you want a quiet space to get to know each other through conversation. I gave this location 3 stars due to the noise level.

This restaurant redefines what a 5-star should be. The restaurant is cozy with a mixture of upscale and laid back vib. It's a old house that was converted to a wonderful restaurant. It still maintains the home feel but is definitely an upscale menu that changes frequently. Our waiter, Ian, was perfect. Very attentive without hovering. The food was delicious and well plated. The calamari was the best I have had in quite some time. It was tender and the portion was perfect for two people. My wife had the salmon which she loved and I had a 22oz KC strip steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. You will find MJ to be the perfect spot for any special occasion. I strongly recommend reservations made several days ahead of time. The restaurant is small with limited capacity but so worth giving them a try.

My husband and I decided to try somewhere new for our wedding anniversary. We often written by this place and decided that tonight was the night and we're able to make a reservation on OpenTable. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation and the parking lot was already packed. The good thing is that there is ample parking across the street so you always have an option that doesn't result in too much walking. The internal downstairs portion of the restaurant is quite small and it was a bit too cool for my personal taste to sit outside on what looked to be a very enjoyable patio. I was a little disappointed by the placement of our table and a waiter, serving the other table, who kept hitting my chair without even a basic excuse me. My waitress on the other hand was bright and bubbly, very attentive, and very knowledgeable about the drink and food menu. We were promptly seated and greeted and cocktail orders taken. My husband and I decided to order the poutine appetizer, and as you can see from the empty plate photo, we devoured it before I even thought about the need to create this review. I also had a very tasty Ruby red grapefruit cocktail while my husband opted for what I believe was an apple pie flavored spirit. We were offered complementary bread and then ordered entrées of the braised rib on top sweet potatoes mash for my husband and the shrimp and grits for me. Both were awesome. And after the bread, large appetizer and t cocktails, I was able to only eat about half of the shrimp and grits serving, which was quite large. my husband cleaned his plate. We were offered a great dessert collection, which included a flourless, chocolate torte, another chocolate cake option, several cheesecake options, but given the serving size of our food, we were both too full for desserts, although they sounded awesome. I must praise our server, who was bright and bubbly, attentive, but not intrusive. Always there when we need something, but not hovering during the course of the meal. I will also know that while we were hoping for a romantic atmosphere the dining area is a little bit too crowded in the patio a little bit too loud to really call this a great location for a date night. We were also seated next to a larger party, which made it a little bit more difficult to have an intimate conversation.

Invited to a birthday celebration for a dear friend. The space upstairs was very charming and private. I arrived early and ordered a drink. Bartender recommended a cocktail. It was great- but $19.00. ( pricy for Greensboro- I almost think was a mistake) We started off with several appetizers- calamari, truffle fries, charcuterie!! I ordered the salmon. My meal was sooo goood. Chef came upstairs to check on us. Servers were all great. A+++

    Catch of the day
    Lisa M.

MJs is a restaurant that came highly recommended by a friend of ours, who knows the owners. We stopped in on a week night for dinner. We ordered the she crab soup which was full of nice chunks of crab and really very tasty! We ordered the catch of the day and the Braised Beef Short-ribs. The catch of the day was 2 soft shelled crabs lightly fried and served over coconut rice, it was a tasty dish, but not our favorite of the two. The short ribs were flavorful and so tender they were literally falling apart... So needless to say, this dish stole the night!! Also, if you are looking for a restaurant with a nice patio, this is your place. It would be the perfect spot to relax with wine after a long day at wWe will be back to try more items off the menu!

My last meal of 2021 was arguably the year's best. Somehow, during the decade-plus I spent living in Greensboro, I had never been to MJ's, but that changed when they were one of the few area restaurants still taking New Year's Eve reservations come mid-December. Regardless of the circumstances, it made for an excellent dining experience. A converted house (with limited parking), MJ's is sectioned off into a patio, a bar, and upstairs and downstairs dining areas. We ended up in the upstairs section, and it felt cozy and intimate. While MJ's runs a small menu normally, it was further pared down for New Year's Eve. That said, the few selections offered (including striped bass, Scottish salmon, prime rib) included several strong contenders. My wife and I went with an off-menu vegetable risotto (the chef can accommodate vegetarian requests, so don't be afraid to ask) and a seafood and grits, respectively, followed by chocolate cake and caramel brulee cheesecake slices for dessert. The food was all-around very good. The risotto was cooked well and offered a medley of vegetables. The seafood and grits (a scallop-added take on their usual shrimp and grits) featured a delicious sherry tomato cream sauce, savory chunks of Tasso ham, and no shortage of shrimp. The grits were creamy and smooth, almost enough to make "grit" an ironic misnomer. MJ's also offered attentive and amiable service and a decent cocktail selection, but the experience doesn't come cheaply. Entrees normally run in the mid-20s to mid-30s range, making this strictly a special occasion destination. All told, MJ's offers everything (food, service, ambiance) that makes for a great meal. Should you have an event worth celebrating, keep it in mind, especially if you enjoy the bounty of the sea

    Italian Gentleman

Hey family. I went to MJ's about two months ago. I was debating if I wanted to write a review because honestly, they don't need me to write one. Long story short, I had a doctors appointment and I wasn't far. My friend said they stopped in the day before and got a crème brûlée cheesecake. It sounded scrumptious so I was gonna pop in and have a glass of wine and get the cheesecake to go. I ordered a glass of Saint cosme Côtes du Rhône which was a fabulous red. But I'm not sure what happened if I was comfortable with the atmosphere or the faint jazz or maybe it was the wine. Something told me to stay and have dinner, so I did. I chatted with the bartender Ruthie who was super sweet and you all know I love good food and great conversation. I was sitting at the bar and I guess the stars aligned because everything was great. The only thing I will say is that I think the calamari and braised short rib was a skosh under seasoned. The calamari by itself I wouldn't have cared for but the aoli that it's paired with, made it top notch. I did need just a little salt and pepper on the braised short rib. Other than that, it was great. They have an extensive wine list and the drinks are amazing. The Italian gentleman drink is nothing to play with. I enjoyed it all. They didn't have the crème brulee cheesecake but they had an Oreo cheesecake which was great. The service was great and I love the set up. It's not really big in the inside but they do have outside seating. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation just to be on the safe side. Mondays can be busy as there are not many restaurants open on Mondays. Do check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I'm so thankful I thought of it last minute, after leaving the gym!! I called to see if they could accommodate two in an hour & a half. Todd politely answered the phone and said he could make that work. We arrived right at 6:30 and Todd, who also happened to be the host for the evening, gave us our choice of two tables. The atmosphere is busy, lots of people chatting, but you're still pretty much able to hold your own conversations. Jake was our delightful British (I think) waiter. He brought us our beverages and described what had to be 5-6 specials for the evening. Everything sounded delightful, but I've been wanting that fried flounder since day one! Jake even brought us a sample bowl of hush puppies with butter. YUMMM!!! The dinner came within 10-17 minutes, nice & hot! Everything was pretty tasty. My flounder was a little bland so I requested some salt & pepper to add more flavor. I got the chili sauce on the side because the fish is the star, not to be covered with Thai chili sauce. Todd was cleaning empty tables near us and stopped by to make sure we enjoyed our meal and would come back. We definitely will!!! Thank you Todd for helping make our girls night dinner delightful!

We ordered drinks and an appetizer and they came out fairly quickly. The Korean BBQ Spring Rolls are very good! Now for the not so good part. We ordered the fish and chips to split- that was all we ordered after the appetizer and it took forever for our order to be brought to the table. We watched a couple tables around us, get their food before us, and they had been seated after us.. The server had to go back and check on our dish a couple times before it finally came out. I will say the fish and the chips were fabulous, but the corn was terrible and should probably not even be included on the dish. It was WAY overcooked and chewy. The coleslaw left quite a bit to be desired as well. No seasoning, no flavor and was just bland. When it says wasabi coleslaw, I am thinking it is going to have a little bit of a kick to it but nothing. They could definitely save themselves some money by eliminating the corn from this dish, make the coleslaw an option as an up charge and could lower the price on the dish in general or add a third piece of fish instead of the corn and coleslaw. Overall, it's definitely the best fish and chips we've had since moving to the area, but I would order it with no corn or coleslaw next time.

We started out with cocktails. I had a Hendricks dry martini straight up (it was delicious) and my wife had a Don't Call Me Sweetie which is mix of Hendrick's Gin, Lemon, Cucumber, Basil, Simple, Saline 15. It is very citrus heavy, so be advised. She had them cut it with a bit of cranberry to offset the citrus. For main courses, my wife had the grilled salmon and she chose sautéed garlic spinach and wasabi slaw as her sides. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my side was blackened green beans. Let's talk main course first. My wife's salmon was terrific. Flaky and moist and very tasty. My shrimp and grits was unique because it was a real balance between large pieces of shrimp and the grits. Many times you'll order this dish and end up with a pile of grits with some shrimp sprinkled on top. This version is very tasty and a really nice balance of flavors. The Cajun seasonings have it some kick, but it did not overpower. The side dishes are where we had a couple of surprises. First off the sautéed spinach was really delicious, but my wife's wasabi slaw was bland. It's a huge shocker because when you see the word wasabi, you expected to have some Asian kick to it. This did not. It was hard to even identify that it had wasabi in it. That was a disappointment. The surprise was the blackened green beans. They actually were one of the stars of the show. Their flavor and texture was just awesome. We could've ordered a huge bowl of it and eaten all of it. While it didn't need it, there was a dipping aïoli on the side, just in case we wanted to add that to the green bean experience. As I mentioned off the start, Fishbones is a very casual experience. It's very pub-like in that way. We really loved it and the wait staff, which is a team approach as anyone who passes you makes sure you're doing OK, were kind, upbeat and helpful. Even with the bland slaw, we can't lower our rating because overall the experience was terrific. We will definitely come back.

We ordered grilled oysters, a pound of shrimp (peeled and deveined), and a half-pound of king crab legs, items we're very familiar with and order often. The grilled oysters didn't seem grilled at all. They looked strange, had very little butter, and were almost completely flavorless. The shrimp was another letdown. It was under-seasoned, wasn't peeled or deveined as ordered, and was gritty. We also never received the corn that was supposed to come with the boil. We could have mentioned it, but by that point we were already so disappointed that we didn't bother. The king crab legs were clearly not fresh. The shells were so old and pliable that they bent instead of cracking properly, and the inner membrane stuck to the meat. We didn't eat it. They made another order which was the same. Our waitress said they don't receive orders for the KC often so they may have been old. Ummmmm! The service didn't help the experience. The staff seemed standoffish from the beginning. Our food was dropped off without any explanation or follow-up, and we had to ask for everything we needed instead of anyone checking on us proactively. However our waitress was happy to help us remove the crab from our bill and she was pleasant. We know this isn't representative of every Full Moon Oyster Bar because we've had fantastic meals at another location. That's what makes this experience even more disappointing. We were celebrating a special occasion and left wishing we had chosen somewhere else.

The outside won't necessarily draw your attention, but once you step inside this simple takeout/ dine in spot, the experience is totally different. As soon as we walked in we were approached by a gentleman who must have been the owner. He was incredibly kind and appreciative of our patronage. He explained all the dishes and a little bit about the company itself. This guy was full of pride about Seafood Destiny and I was impressed. Besides dining inside, they offer takeout and catering services. He was particularly proud of some of his dishes and when he told me that the crab legs was a special tonight for $20, I knew that was the best fit for me. You pay at the counter after you choose your selection and then have a seat and wait for your food to arrive. We were the only ones in the restaurant, although I did see a few people pop in for takeout. I could not help but wonder with it being so empty whether the great reviews would match up to what they claimed. I got my Diet Coke from the fountain machine with unlimited refills which always makes me happy. After chatting for a while with Sally, this huge plate came my way. The crab legs special for $20 was amazing. Not only did it have plenty of crab legs, but it came with a half-dozen beautiful shrimp with excellent seasoning, turkey sausage, corn on the cob and delicious scalloped potatoes. I ordered a side of asparagus. Although it was tasty. I don't know if the asparagus was worth $5. On the other hand, the main dish was a real bargain!! The food was delicious. Sally ordered salmon with pasta and loved her dish as well. I just ate and ate and ate and ate and eventually devoured the entire dish. Boy, that was good. No doggy bag here! We were each served a special dipping sauce from the Seafood Destiny. It was sweet and tasty but I was happy to just devour the fish as is. It was well seasoned and scrumptious While we were eating, a young man came out to chat with us. Something told me he was the son of the owner or he was indeed the manager or both lol. We had a nice chat about the place and it's history and he really appreciated our visit and hoped we would spread the word. I will! We arrived at 6:30 and before we knew it it was 8:00 and the place was beginning to close. I devoured my last crab leg, got a refill on my diet Coke and we headed out. Both Sally and I discussed on the way home what a delicious meal that was, how lovely the owners and staff were and what a shame that there not more people in the restaurant. I am hoping that was a fluke on a Tuesday night because Seafood Destiny definitely deserves customers. The place was simple, but the welcoming staff, the good priced seafood meals, the plentiful portions, and most of all, seeing the incredible pride and love the owners put into this place made it a winning combination for me I'm always a big fan of family owned operations and Seafood Destiny deserves your patronage. Whether it's shellfish or salmon or grouper, I highly recommend you head over to this place. As unassuming as it is on the outside, the inside was a delicious and welcoming experience!. I will be back and I hope to see you there!

The only thing I would improve about this place is the layout. The table being in front of the coke…read morecooler feels like invading the occupancies space. It's kept really clean and building is beautiful. The food is what keeps me coming back. I tried this place about a month ago give or take for the first time. It's across from my vet Americana Animal Hospital and now every time I'm in the area I grab food there. I use my get the catfish and shrimp combo. The service is always friendly, it's not waiter style but they will bring the food to you and make sure you have sauce and ect.

I had been craving a piece of fish and had been wanting to try this spot. Decided to kill two birds with one stone and ordered takeout on my way home. I ordered take out: Family size flounder Regular catfish basket with fries Sides of Mac and cheese, collards, fries A small order of hush puppies Kids shrimp meal Ordering was easy and curbside pickup *would* have been convenient, except I was only given half of my order and got all the way home before realizing. Fine - people make mistakes. I immediately called the restaurant when I noticed and was given the option to come back and pick up my order (that was actively getting colder) or order it again another day... Considering we were missing the family size flounder, I opted to go back and pickup the rest of my order. I had to go in (which I had been trying to avoid by utilizing curbside pickup) - ok, not the end of the world, but then I had to wait in line. I was given the rest of my order that had been sitting out for close to (if not more than) half an hour. The girl that was working the counter apologized and was very nice, but given no one offered to remake my food or throw in something for my troubles annoyed me. The food was cold - the batter became soggy, fries mushy, slaw warm, hush puppies mostly grease. Mac & cheese was "OK." Collards were not good. Fries, flounder, and catfish would have been good while piping hot but - ALAS - were just OK. Unimpressed and downright disappointed.
