Great local spot for Persian food. Everything is fresh and very flavorful. I usually get the combination kabob of chicken and beef. the only thing I'd change is that I would like a combination shish kebab option, so I could get some vegetables with the combination of meats -- you can get all of those things, but not in a single menu item. I think you can order a skewer of grilled veggies on the side for a couple of bucks, though. read more

We went into this place thinking it was an Italian joint -to our surprise and eventual delight we discovered that this is in fact a Greek restaurant. I got a lamb kabob and my partner got a beef kabob -we loved our food and there was certainly no shortage of rice I might add ! The waiter seemed a bit young to be working and quite jumpy as they were between lunch and dinner service though he did his best and said of the Turkish Coffee "you won't like it " . Then he explained that the yogurt sauce I was enjoying was "ranch dressing?" (We'll be checking up on this one) He also described what Turkish Coffee was to me in a way that did not describe Turkish Coffee correctly even in a remote sense . That aside -loved loved loved the food . Next time please make fresh coffee and get your staff on point . Also when we went to drink the coffee the waiter and two young ladies at the hostess stand watched as if they were watching a funny YouTube video -making comments about us and everything . Great restaurant that probably doesn't get the notoriety it deserves. I'd highly recommend getting the Stoneleigh platter, if you have a party of two or more. But, honestly you probably can't go wrong at this great little find in Towson. read more

This place is GREAT. We've always felt the Towson area is in major need of better ethnic restaurants, and this place is such a welcome presence. A fantastic addition to the neighborhood! Surprisingly nice interior, very nice waitstaff and great food. We had the chicken shishkabob which was tender and served with fluffy rice and a salad. They offer the best Persian food in the area. The prices are reasonable and the quality is high. Extremely recommended!

We have eaten in about 4 times and recently had a large banquet take out. The banquet take out was great--two large tin platters of various kabobs and rice that could be served without transfer and separate side dishes. Nice people, great, fresh food, BYOB. My only minor suggestion is to have some unique specials to mix it up for regulars and stretch out the kitchen a bit. read more

We got take out for a family of four. The service was very efficient - 20 minutes from call to pick up! - and the servers were very friendly and helpful. The dining space is not fancy but warm and appealing in look and feel. We got a variety of dishes and were well pleased with everything. The panir was warm and fresh, the baba ganoush hummus, and dolma savory and tasty, and the kebabs - lamb koobideh, chicken, and beef perfectly cooked and delicious. It was a delicious and satisfying meal at a reasonable price with excellent service. Our daughter and son-in-law, foodies who are very discerning about all things fresh and flavorful and critical of restaurants that don't meet their standards, were very impressed, which may have been the best part of all! We are looking forward to an eat in experience at Villagio Cafe in the near future. If we could rate Villagio Cafe with 4.5 that would be the most accurate for us. The food was fine. The experience was TERRIBLE. There was a party of 35 in the middle of this very small cafe/restaurant, and another one of 10 at one end. My friend and I had to yell to hear each other., and even then we couldn't. The noise was excruciating. With a party that large, management should have closed the restaurant to other guests. Evidently the group started out as 20, then grew to 35. In any case, given the awful environment for us, and given the fact we complained about it, the very least management could have done is to discount our bill, if not make our meals completely complimentary. We both left with a raging headache. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. read more

Dated a Persian guy for 3 years ... had lot of Personal food before and can cook a bunch of it too. Got one of the family plates to share with kubide, beef and chicken kebabs. Mouthwatering, succulent, well seasoned, fantastic food and good service. We tried the "Soltani", the lamb koobideh, and chicken. The lamb koobideh is to die for if u like lamb. Perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I was worried about the chicken thinking it would be dry and tasteless - the juiciness and flavor profile are hands down the best I've had on the east coast (between Boston, DC, NJ, and now Baltimore). This is a cozy restaurant, tucked in a place easy to overlook, so you need to carefully look out. Parking is a pain, as this restaurant is on a busy street. Once you get into the restaurant it's a nice cozy place. I visited the place twice and their serving staff is very friendly and accommodative which always makes up for few flaws. Now coming to the food, we ordered Appetizer platter. It was very good and tasted fresh. But I noticed one thing, the quantity differed during my second visit .The Olovieh was way less compared to first time and Shirazi Was missing tomatoes. For entree, we ordered family tour -Idlewild and had the beef koobideh kebab replaced with one skewer of chicken and one of lamb. The lamb was marinated and grilled to perfection, how ever chicken kebab was low on seasoning and a tad bit dry...which means it was not fresh.This was the case both the times. I used to live in Houston and have eaten in best Persian restaurant 'Bijan Persian Grill' and they are the best. Anyway coming back to Villagio Cafe, they serve the kebab on a bed of rice and grilled tomatoes and parsley. I was disappointed with the quantity of rice, it does not justify the quantity of protein served and they force you to order another side of rice alone...this seemed intentional. The tomatoes could have been grilled for a tad longer. Also they do not serve any condiments, kind of surprising. To finish it we ordered Persian ice cream which was very tasty...it had a strong taste of rose water..so beware of that. One more thing I noticed in this restaurant, the owners check upon only few guests and not everyone at the restaurant, this is not good for business. My friend was offended with that behavior. Overall this restaurant serves good food and the rice quantity needs to be increased and rest can be ignored. I would recommend this place for kebab lovers. read more

Great date spot- delicious, inexpensive food in a charming restaurant. The service is always wonderful. They do a wonderful job with presentation. They really excel at Koobideh- I love the lamb koobideh with Adas polo (rice with lentils, onions, and dates)- it is the perfect combo. The rice with sour cherries is really good too. We had our daughters graduation party here and they did a great job with a large group also. I also love that it is bring your own bottle. The turkish coffee is the perfect ending- I'm craving it and the baklava right now- just thinking about it. My only suggestion- so it doesn't get stale with your regulars- think about having some seasonal specials for some variety- some wonderful exotic persian delicacy or special persian sweets. It would be nice offer a few more persian drinks too- like doh. Also a customer tip- make sure you call ahead and make a reservation because it is a small place and very popular. read more

The other evening we drove from York, PA to Villagio Café, Maryland for dinner; what a great decision. We ordered two dishes: 1) Soltani (Fillet + Koobedi) + rice and a choice of salad (Shirazi, or Greek) and 2) rice with Lima beans + lamb shank. For appetizer we had "must&moser i.e. yogurt+ shalt. Then completed the dinner with awesome tasty, colorful and delicious tea with complementary homemade sweets. The ambiance was calm and relaxing, the service was great; the Master Chef's personalized encounter added to our delightful outing. This place is highly recommended. Terrible experience at Villagio's Cafe last night. We came in (two of us) before the crowd, around 7pm, ordered an appetizer and dinner. There were a few tables already eating, and shortly after our appetizer arrived, the cafe began to fill with guests, including a party of what looked like 15 - 20 people, a couple with a child, and another couple. We commented on how glad we were that our order was in. Little did we know. Shortly after we finished the appetizer, we noticed that our meals had not come, but since we weren't in a hurry, we weren't immediately concerned; we just waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. We began to notice that the couple with the child and the other couple had gotten their meals, but we hadn't. The waitress, who was very nice, came over, said something about our order getting lost, apologized, and assured us that our food would be out right away. Right away? It seems that was an outright lie because no food came out. Still waiting, and trying to be polite, we began to notice plates coming out to the large party. That was it!! Someone had obviously decided to make us wait while the chef prepared the plates for the large group first. Are you kidding me? At that point, we decided to leave, and when we got up to pay, do you think they even "comped" us for our measly appetizer and one diet coke? No, we had to pay for that, and the waitress had the nerve to offer us some baklava. Baklava? Dessert? As if that was going to substitute for our dinners. Unbelievable! It's not that a mistake was made; we eat out a lot and understand that sometimes things happen. The problem was how the situation was handled. Once the waitress realized our order had been overlooked somehow, why weren't our orders, then, filled right away? Right away? Our meals weren't complicated. Why were we made to wait while the chef cooked for the large party? Why didn't the manager come out and say something? The person dining with me, who used to work in the restaurant business years ago, as a young man, said "They don't care. They are not thinking about us. They are so focused on the big tip they are going to get from the large party that out meals mean nothing." Sad, but I had to agree. However, we visit this cafe every couple of months and sometimes do carryout. It's not easy running a restaurant, and what management should understand is that it is the regular customers and their recommendations that help these businesses survive. We have always tried to support neighborhood restaurants like this one, and in return, we expect to be treated with respect, small party or large. This experience was disappointing, to say the least. read more
