I tried the Lamb Haneeth which is pieces of lamb slow cooked for 5 hours, served over rice with a few root vegetables. I LOVED IT! I took one bit and couldn't stop. I had enough for leftovers the following day. It was served with a lamb soup that was served piping hot but not much flavor. On my visit, they didn't have salad, which normally comes with it. My brother and I stopped I here for lunch and ended up loving it! We both got the lamb fahsa, which comes with lentil soup and an enormous slab of bread. They do not skimp on the lamb at all! The stew was wonderful - very rich and mostly meat, and the bread was delicious and perfect for eating the fahsa. The complimentary chai was also delicious. Couldn't believe it was only $15 for such a huge meal. We rolled out of there very happily, and I know I'll be back for more of their menu (especially if it's lamb)! This was my second visit. My first visit the food was amazing. Unfortunately, my experience on 8/15 was completely different.It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive, and the lamb was about 90% fat with very little meat. It was so bad that I couldn't eat it. The baba ghanoush was also extremely sweet and tasted more like a dessert than an eggplant dish.The bread and rice were good, but they weren't enough to make up for the rest of the meal. I visited the restaurant for the first time the other day. Not only was the service amazing the food was equally amazing. The manager/chef came out and greeted me personally and gave suggestions as to what to eat. One of his suggestions was to try the lamb soup and lamb. Summary: Went back for round 2 before I could even write my first review. Although I usually try to weigh my Yelp score based on a few different factors, ever so rarely, there's a time when the food is so spectacular that it blows everything else out of the water. We've had a few dishes here - meat with hummus, lamb sandwich wrap, fahsah, masoub - everything has been top notch. Innocuously perched at a corner on Broadway, Yemen & Gulf offers what is surely the best Yemeni, and probably the best middle eastern food for miles. Hard to go wrong I think but the Haneeth and Zorbian have treated me especially well in the large portion of falling-off-the-bone meat with tasty rice category, which is really the only category that matters in my book. I will also say that you want to get one of clay oven breads because they are huge and crispy and delicious and go great with one of the meat dishes. You could get the hummus, which is great, and comes with a giant bread! Honestly this is a hidden gem of Baltimore. I have come here three times so far and every single time, I have ordered a different lamb dish, and every time I love it more and more. Yemen and Gulf will always hold a place in my heart. This time, I had the lamb fahsa and wow! You gotta get it. It comes out bubbling in a hot clay bowl and it is so delicious. It is flavorful and savory like the lamb agda (what I got and loved before), but the lamb is shredded, and the hot bowl really elevates the whole meal. When you're done, you can scrape the remaining sauce off the side of the hot bowl with your naan, and it's like extra-concentrated yumminess.
