Fancy date spot for the win. Vin 48 has a wonderful atmosphere and attentive staff. All of the dishes we tried were flavorful. To start we shared the beet salad, it was light and refreshing but not remarkable. The best part of it was the grown goat cheese which made the dish wonderful. Next we had the grilled shrimp small plate and small was the key here. $16 for three shrimps, tasted great but do not order this if you are hungry. Back again and what a great dinner and evening! We were warmly and sincerely greeted the hostess, who was beyond perfunctorily pleasant and very welcoming. So nice to treated well, regardless of being a customer. I wish I could remember her name. Their menu is broad and deep but lacks a lot of vegan options. No worries, the hostess had the chef, Charles come out. He reviewed some options with us, we choose one and asked him to surprise us for the other. We also ordered a three grain salad (delicious) and a fabulous cider from Hotchkiss. Charles brought our dinners out and reviewed what he and his team had prepared. And, they consisted of vegan options we enjoy. After tasting the first few bites, it was clear we needed pictures and needed to post this review. Yum! We had dinner there and were blown away. Alex our bartender/waiter was friendly, and knowledgable. His suggestions on wine pairings for our meal and dessert were perfect. Our meals were delicious. I am lactose intolerant and the chef was able to accommodate changing menu items to accommodate me. Everything we ordered was delicious and freshly made. I was super disappointed in this spot. The food wasn't great at all. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but it was not an enjoyable meal. Pate- Overly mustardy and not a great consistency. It was so bad we had to return the dish. This is the second time in my life anything has been bad enough to return. Fries - Not amazing, but much better than the pate. Meatballs - Not bad. Interesting flavors. Definitely get it for happy hour. Pumpkin Goat Ravioli - So bad, but we had already returned one dish we couldn't return another. Very bland in my opinion. Goat wasn't great. Our host and waiter were awesome and they definitely made it feel very homey and comfortable, especially since my group was from out of town. Our first time in Avon, Colorado, so in my opinion, it was a great experience. I had the P.E.I mussels that came with two pieces of garlic bread and it was a perfect combo! Fantastic dinner! Staff were nice, helpful and gave great recommendations. They have lots of cool appetizers and small plates to try from as well as good sized large plates. The food was awesome! Great drink selection including wines, cocktails and local beers. We came in the summer and sat outside which was lovely. This was an awesome experience...sat at a high top table by the bar. Our waiter, Alex Dando was outstanding! Great suggestions as we worked our way through trying the many small plates/dishes. What a creative menu and loved the fall touches (pumpkin brioche, gnocchi with sweet potato.) The creativity does not end with the food, the drinks were incredible as well. Second time to avon and wanted to try the restaurant. First impression was good. Sat outside. Server was friendly and explained menu. Menu was limited. Only a few selections but wanted to try the wagyu beef anyways. Wife tried the blue green snapper. Service was a little slower than I thought. Was a little hungry but they did not serve any bread. Beet salad was good.. refreshing. Wagyu was underwhelming...it tasted ok.. was waiting for the soft buttery bite but did not experience it. The ravioli was bland. Could not taste the truffles. Ordered the beef to be medium but was more medium rare. The snapper was reported to be tasty. Anyways the dinner ended well with the tiramisu. EXCELLENT CHOICE! My husband and I were looking for a place to host a cocktail hour/dinner as a meet and greet the day prior to our daughter's wedding at The Westin Riverfront. VIN 48 was recommended by the hotel. After looking at the website/menus and reading reviews, we called them up to learn more. Dana, the restaurant manager and in charge of coordinating parties, was super helpful in EVERY aspect of planning; he was a pleasure to talk with and gave great guidance about the menu. We had dietary considerations (eg., the bride ands have severe gluten allergies, my husband is vegan, there were many considerations) and he geared the kitchen and choices to make sure we were safe. The setting was great, and clean, and well-organized. We had anticipated maybe 35; so Dana closed the bar area for just our party; it worked great with high top tables as well as bar seating. Servers passed appetizers during cocktail hour; and there was an area that was perfect for the dinner buffet. The food was delicious; the salmon, steak, vegan choices and the sides and the passed out appetizers were all fabulous. Additionally, Dana was creative and helpful some on-the-fly ideas to help things run smoothly. The servers and bartenders were so friendly, Attentive, and kind. We enjoyed the mussels and Waugh steak. Everything was perfectly cooked. The mussels were OUTSTANDING! Whatever sauce they make for it is 10/10. It's a white wine garlic and butter sauce. Exceptional. The wagyu was perfectly cooked and tender and rich. Frittas with white truffle oil. You can tell the truffle oil is authentic rather than perfumed. So tender and just the right amount of pungent. Cheese plate was well balanced with great cheeses and the blueberry jalapeño compote was a stand out. Brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked but that My our only feedback. read more

Visiting from AZ this past week skiing. Love this place! Great fresh food, amazing wines, great service. We ate here 4 times and enjoyed every meal. We like the shareable small plates, so you can try more dishes. Sit at the bar or sit in the dining room, both nice experiences. The owner Greg has great staff: Tim, Dana, Jeff, Mitchell, Shannon +. For the past 20 years, this has been the first restaurant that we visit whenever we come into town for our annual ski trip. Vin 48 has become a place we hold with high regard and affection as we see our family friends for the first time since the previous year. We always start with the salmon and potsto latke bites. I pray they never take these off the menu because they are fabulous! Flavorful and delicious with a wonderful consistency from the crunchiness of the outside of the potato coupled with the warm mash on the inside and all paired perfectly with the smoked salmon. My mother one year got a winter salad that they had featured on the menu and has never stopped talking about it since! They gave her the recipe much to her delight. I truly enjoy the wine menu as well. They always have high quality wine that is decently priced by the bottle or an excellent selection of wines by the glass. For my meal this time, I had their Halibut special which was light and paired with perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes. I would recommend you get anything with mushrooms on the menu because it is always fabulous. I almost got the risotto this time and I am certain it was fabulous. read more

Our fist time at Vin 48 for dinner and it was really very nice and special. The dinning area opens up with floor to ceiling sliding window doors which creates and very open and fresh atmosphere. The food was outstanding but what really made the experience special where the people. From the individuals who greeted us to our server and the support staff. The food was too grown up for our tastes. We have 2 young children and this place doesn't have kids friendly menus. Their mussels was awesome. One can really taste the white wine used in its soup. We have tried many great restaurants in Vail and Beaver Creek throughout the years and there are many outstanding places here but this little place (capacity for 88) is fantastic starting from great ambiance by the bar, attentive service and amazing food. Happy hour is from 5-6:30 and they have small dishes that are absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Wild mushroom with potato cake and mussels were our favorite. We just went here last night for our first wedding anniversary. This restaurant was recommended to us by our friends. I wrote on the reservation that it was our anniversary and I wish that they had said something about that. It would have been nice. We ordered the cheese platter and the olive appetizer and our server didn't tell us the platter already had olives on it. Little things like that make the difference between a good experience and a great experience. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the flat iron steak. They were both good dishes. Look, this is THE best place to dine in Avon. Truly, the food is great, the wine selection perfect, and the staff is so knowledgeable about what they are serving you, and how to pair their wines with your meals. I have never been disappointed here, and it's where I bring all of my visiting guests, family, and it's my top suggestion to clients. The vibe of the staff at this place is nothing less than genuine and welcoming. It has a sense of warmth that makes you want to come back to be a part of the familiarity that everyone seems to be a part of. There were several tables throughout with locals that several staff members at Oppel to converse with as if everyone was at one big family event. The kick of the red pepper was a perfect punch and I wanted it with every bite! The PRIME BEEF FLAT IRON was cooked to perfection and was unbelievably juicy and tender! The veal bacon sauce made it heavenly delicious and not greasy by any means! The layout of the restaurant was perfectly laid out, so that you had plenty of open seating on one end and plenty of bar seating and mingling on the other side.
