Cutest Germany/Switzerland style brunch place. It was our first time visiting Vail and our friends from LA recommend this place to us. We went on Easter Day and were worried they wont let us in without reservation but they were very friendly and helpful. We got the breakfast buffet and it was not only worth every penny but also great experience for us. They had everything you would crave for breakfast and it was only 42 per person except the alcoholic drinks. Considering Vail as an expensive place this was our cheapest meal we had with very good quality and service. My fav was the german sausage which taste like the real ones in . Even the people you would see there not like anything in CA! Great atmosphere! Little cups of smoothies were yummy too. Until next time!

First off, please make sure you make a reservation. This is a very popular breakfast place for both hotel guests and non-hotel guests. I made a mistake of missing that detail when we went. My husband and BIL didn't want to wait as they wanted to start snowboarding asap. I did however still we t because I had a spa appointment for 10:30am. I listed myself at 8:27am and got seated at 10:32am!!! The selection of food is really top notch. You would want to go when you have a big appetite for the buffet and willing to pay $57 per person. I took pictures of all food options so you can see what are available. They also serve fresh juices and coffee ofcourse. The ones that stood out to me were the smoked salmon, french toast, chocolate croissant, mexican omelette (I forgot the name), bacon and fresh fruits. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great ambiance, excellent breakfast, really hungry or looking for a date place. 10/10!!!

Breakfast was delicious! It is European style and has so many options! Bread, protein, yogurt, fruit, make your own omelets.. Everything I had was great! Located right inside the Sonnenalp Vail hotel. Great views in terrace area! Waitress was friendly but took a long time in between to check on us. We had to flag her down multiple times for the check and to take some dirty plates away. Pricy for a breakfast buffet, especially if you have a large family going!

This has to be one of the cutest spots I have been for brunch and I mean it whole heartedly . Its an Old World-meets-mountain-modern décor: Bavarian-style carved-wood ceilings, paintings by Austrian and German artists, and sunlight flooding in from a glass atrium. The view from the sun room was gorgeous with the snowcapped trees and the food and service complimented the ambience This place is inside a restaurant so might take a little bit to find a good parking spot but we were fortunate that it was a Sunday and we were able to park out front an establishment that was closed . Diners are greeted with picture-perfect baked goods, fresh fruits, exotic-looking cheeses and meats, and rows of scrumptious pastries .There's even a whole honeycomb dripping fresh honey into a lovely porcelain dish. Yes, there's an à la carte menu, but the whole point of dining here is to graze from the sumptuous European-style buffet, a cornucopia of eggs, waffles, blintzes, sausages, cured meats, cheeses, berries, yogurts, breads, preserves, and pastries . Beverages are ordered as per your choice and might cost extra depending on what you ordered . There is a separate Egg counter where you can get the eggs made as per your preference. Service was excellent to say the least and our server took really good care of us without being over bearing . She just magically appeared every time someone wanted to order something. So the pricing is on the higher side and everything including juices etc are additional cost. They also added a service charge which I am not sure was for what however we all paid an additional gratuity individually on top of it. Overall , its pricey but I would definitely recommend them for the amazing experience .

This is a top notch breakfast buffet. I tend to not have really high expectations for any buffet in general but I remember liking this one pre Covid (the paused it during peak of Covid and only did a La carte) so when we visited The Sonnenalp this past weekend and heard it was back on we decided to indulge...and indulge we did. The main thing that impressed me was definitely the quality of ingredients served. The bacon was amazing; I had four pieces (insert shocked face lol) omelettes, eggs, breads, fruit...everything was great. I was a bad pregnant lady and also had some charcuterie for breakfast but I felt like If there was anywhere I could trust the cured meats it was Sonnenalp and it was so good. The fruit was great; pretty much everything was lovely. It also includes freshly squeezed juices, teas, and coffee. It's a bit pricey but totally worth the splurge if you ask me.

The restaurant is beautiful with different "rooms" including a solarium with lots of windows to overlook the mountains. The service was great and beautifully adorned in traditional swiss dress. We went for breakfast since our room at the Sonnenalp included the buffet. They had a very nice selection all looking fresh. Unfortunately, my eggs were cold and so was my coffee. Some of the buffet burners must not be operating correctly. Tomorrow I'll try the oatmeal!

Stayed at Sonnenalp Hotel and Ludwig's is located inside! The breakfast buffet here was included with our hotel stay (about ~$50 for the buffet), so thought it was a great deal!! Included are all the coffees, teas, juices -- the only exclusions were freshly squeezed juices and alcoholic drinks. Otherwise the buffet had a lot of variety including a station for omelettes/ eggs made however you'd like. Would definitely recommend especially if you are staying at the hotel!! Even if you are not I'd say it's worth a try!! At night the lounge area of the restaurant has live music and is a cute chill area to hangout and grab a drink especially by the fireplace!

The only thing we took a photo of! Cheesecakes with macarons, delicious.

Such an amazing dinner experience! This quiet restaurant is tucked back in the Sonnenalp hotel. Started off with the jumbo crab cakes and Caesar salads, very fresh and plated beautifully. For mains, Dover sole (deboned tableside) and artic char. Both cooked perfectly, and the sauce puts them in a different caliber. Our server, Spomenka, was kind and attentive, and we will be back when we are in town again!

Nice airy spot for breakfast. The customer service is wonderful and the food is fresh. There is a hint of mid- century feel :)

This place is definitely not cheap but the view is to die for. The breakfast was pretty good, but I definitely eat here for the gorgeous view. Our server was extremely attentive and they provide excellent service. I got the eggs Florentine and it was exactly what I needed. I just love this hotel in general so definitely stay here if you can and eat at Ludwigs!

"Timelessly Vail" is an apt description for the best breakfast buffet in the Vail Valley, and quite possibly the world! Nestled adjacent the Gore Creek, inside the Sonnenalp Hotel, "Ludwigs" with its picture perfect setting is an absolute must for tourists, and locals alike. Sit down, grab a plate and choose from the most incredible spread, ranging from mini burritos, eggs benedict, french toast, fresh fruit, an omelette bar and anything else you could ever wish for! The staff are incredibly friendly, and will make sure your mimosa, fresh juice, coffee or bloody mary are always topped up. Our server, Olivia was amazing. A MUST visit while visiting the Vail Valley!

The atmosphere is Old World and very charming. Our server, Fabian, was helpful, friendly, eager to please and excellent! Three in our party were vegetarians, and the other two ordered the meat entrees. The salads were a nice size and delicious. The two vegetarian options for Entrees were both delicious and beautifully plated. The Chef's innovative use of vegetables and spot on seasoning would have pleased King Ludwig himself! My husband ordered the Elk, and enjoyed it very much. We were surprised and delighted when Fabian brought a Cotton Candy 'Tree' to our table as a complimentary treat. And treat it was! I must say, it was an awesome way to end a wonderful evening. Thank you Ludwig's - you did your King proud!!

They weren't too familiar with the breakfast at the places we mentioned, but one person immediately said, "There's The Little Diner right down the street. It's very good and has even been featured on the Food Network." We decided to give it a try, and we are very glad we did. We arrived around 8:30 in the morning and sat at the counter. At the time we were the only customers there. A very nice lady brought us water and got me a coffee while we looked over the menu. It actually took us a while to decide because there were so many great sounding options. As we sat there deciding, more and more people started coming in. My wife ordered the sausage gravy over a biscuit with eggs and cheese grits, and I ordered the Eggs Benedict with potatoes. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The flavors matched the presentation too. My wife said the sausage gravy was outstanding, and my Eggs Benedict was excellent as well. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were very good, and the hollandaise sauce had great flavor. While sitting at the counter, we spent some time talking with our server. She told us she had been there since shortly after the diner first opened. Unfortunately, she also explained that the building is scheduled to be demolished so condos can be built above the property, and they are unsure whether the diner will be able to return afterward. It's honestly sad to hear about a place this good possibly being pushed out because of rising development and rental costs. I understand building owners want to maximize profits, but it's disappointing when small local businesses that people truly enjoy are forced out by higher rents and redevelopment. Places like this are what give towns character. Overall, this place was excellent. Great food, friendly people, and exactly the kind of local spot you hope to find while traveling.

As anticipated, the place was gorgeous...with a slightly formal air. Given that it was in the Vail Village (near the ski slope), my husband was able to enter the place in his rugged ski suit. Despite the ambiance, it was a bit dead. I was disappointed with the lack of French music overhead...though maybe it was on so low, I didn't hear it? There were plenty of breakfast-brunch options, but on the menu, some items were noted as taking 20 minutes (which we didn't have time for!), so I was a tad bummed about that. In any case, my husband chose this Huckleberry Bacon French Toast, and I ordered the Maryland Crab Benedict. For drinks, we both just ordered plain coffee. As expected, the foods were good. I was more impressed with my husband's choice, this super-fancy french toast. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted spectacular! Mine was good, but disappointing at the same time. I really liked the Crab Benedict, but I only half-liked the side salad (basically just Arugula with a few Walnuts and Figs). The total bill for these items ran over 100 bucks... which, was to be expected in Vail. However, for such a pricey breakfast, I felt that I should have absolutely loved it...but it felt short of that. Overall, I just expected a bit more from this breakfast experience. Again, the decor was gorgeous, but the ambiance wasn't fully there (because of the lack of music?). Service felt a bit short-skimpy as well. Foods were good, but mine especially (Crab Benedict) felt a bit lacking. Let's just say that I've had Crab Benedicts as just as good for half the price...and with better sides. Maybe lunch or dinner experience is better here? In any case, am glad we checked out the place...but I doubt I'll choose it for breakfast again.

The Aubergine Roulade, roasted eggplant rolled with roasted red peppers, spinach, chèvre and herbs served over baby arugula, mimolette cheese, toasted pine nuts, pickled fresno pepper & aged balsamic reduction (!) was good.
