Let's face it, feminism aside, most women don't know jack about cars. I know how to drive them and wear them out. If the car makes a weird sound, I turn up the radio. That said, when the check engine light on my Volvo started flashing and the idle was so rough I thought the car wouldn't go another inch, Vince came to the rescue. I was not in the position to do all the repairs that the car needed. I asked him to do the best that he could on my budget, and he gave me a fair deal and the car is running great! I became a victim of buying a car with a salvage title. I went to Vince's auto to get a smog, brake and light certificate. Vince was great and understood how violated I felt. I had been looking at mechanic shops all morning looking for an oil change. I had called several places and they all were over charging me by $50. I called Vince and even on the phone he was honest and gave me a fair price for an oil change $30. Vince has been great with my car. I bought a 2000 Hyundai Elantra without much inspection, so I had no idea what I was getting into. He gave me a detailed inspection report. I'm an "income sensitive" client (or "poor" if you wanna be an asshole) and we worked to come up with a list of priorities, from safety to cosmetic. I brought the car in a series of times whenever I had some spare cash and handled all the safety stuff, and will get working on cosmetic stuff soon. He gives accurate price estimates, too. I have a regular mechanic I usually go to, but he was out of town for a while when my car decided to act up and start up w/ this off the wall noise. I saw that Vince's Automotive was nearby and I gave them a call to bring the car in. I spoke to Edward and he was the nicest guy ever! He has had a lot of experience working with cars(even worked at a dealership at one point) so he knows what he is talking about. Uses hired help that made mistakes, (wrong plug wire to wrong plug), (digging heater hose off plastic heater connection and not replacing the connector resulting in a failure that could've cost me my engine had I been on the frwy and not noticed the steam), Over-charging for parts, Using wrong parts, Saying women are not intelligent and if is not a technician doesn't know what she's talking about. Condescending attitude, Using wrong parts to cut corners and over charges for them. Didn't perform complete analysis of charging system. I went here for years. I have a 3 strike rule. I really wanted to like this place, and for a while I did! The guys were so nice friendly and I felt like they were very honest. HOWEVER, last time I took my car there (which has low mileage and runs great) the bill was slightly more than expected but nevertheless I paid it. Two days later my tire pressure light came on which I thought was odd seeing as they were supposed to have checked the tires and ensured they were inflated to the correct level, but I let that slide. Now I was just looking through old mechanic receipts and noticed that I had new spark plugs fitted in 2015 by a previous mechanic. The last time I visited Vince's just last month (2017) barely 9k miles later, they had fitted new spark plugs! Now I'm certainly no expert on cars but I do know that spark plugs have a much longer life span than that! I'm now quite upset that I have clearly been ripped off and taken advantage of. Needless to say I will now be searching for an alternative mechanic..... read more

I love these guys, and trust them completely. Been coming here for about two years now after my original mechanic retired and closed up shop. I live close by, and they are fantastic about giving me a ride home if I need one after dropping off my car. There were a couple instances where I brought my car elsewhere... only to have to bring my car back to Vince's to have it properly fixed. They are seemingly the only ones who could get the parts for my old Saab, which are increasingly impossible to find. And I will now be bringing my new car to them for all future maintenance. The prices aren't the cheapest in town (though that could just be because of the impossible to find parts), but you get what you pay for and they offer a discount for AAA members. I drove in with a "Check Engine" light on in my car and I needed to have my car pass a smog check to renew my registration. The mechanics were very helpful in explaining to me what was wrong with my car and what steps I needed to take to repair it. The repairs were fast and they even ran a diagnostic test afterwards to see if it would pass a STAR smog inspection. Thanks to them I was able to pass and my car runs better than it did before. I never thought I would be so compelled to write a review for an automotive repair shop, but here I go with Vince's Automotive. Let me first say that the service was beyond expectations. Either Carlos or Vince called me every day to provide an update on my engine rebuild. The were helpful in providing details of the work being performed along with when I could expect the car to be operable again. The job took three days longer than I was told, but they offered to provide me with a rental at their cost. Also, I live near Santa Barbara. They offered to help me pick up my car by having one of their guys drive over 100 miles to pick me up and bring me to my car. I got the car last Monday and it drives like I don't ever remember it driving. It's got amazing power now. My only regret is that I don't live near Reseda because Vince's would be my mechanic of choice from now on. read more

Took 9 hours to do an oil change and never did the check on the car i was promised. Did front brakes and put the sensors on backwards. Charged for brake fluid and it was never added. Used after market parts and never stated that. Can't trust a shop like this. AAA should remove it's rating from this shop. read more

Took my car in there to have it fixed. They fixed the wrong thing the first time, even though the mechanic said he was confident that they had found the problem. The car still was not repaired. I went back, and he offered to fix a second thing for cost of parts only.He said that this second part was definitely bad and needed to be replaced. So I agreed to have the second thing fixed. When I went to pick up the car, he said that the check engine light was off and I should be good to go. The car had the same problem as before within one hour of leaving his shop, and this time the car ran even worse. So now I have lost over $500 in repairs that did not solve the original problem and the car is not safe to drive. Check back here on Yelp, and I'll report whether he stood behind his "expert, master mechanic, super-genius certified" status as a GM specialist. I will report the results back here. And by the way, if anyone is ever considering purchasing a GM vehicle, I have to advise against it. The problems that this vehicle has were very easily preventable by a company as big as GM. You can't tell me that they don't know how to make a car that lasts more than 10 or 12 years. The car has completely fallen apart in many ways that it should not have. I owned two 1970's GM vehicles, and they ran forever, and lasted a long time. Not any more. read more

I told him I dont know anything about cars just tell me in English how much to fix my car? he said $450 out of the door. I asked him so this will make my car completely fixed? he said yes. Next day I come to pick up the day he shows me a bill for like $512 ish, I was like what is this? he told me well something else needed to be repaired too. I was like is the car completely fixed? he told me yes. I drove the car 2 miles and steam started to come out and the car stopped. I took it again to him and he told me again hidshdish, sajijfpoasj, ashdiasdhj bla bla needs to get fixed it will cost $600 ish. I was like you told me that the car is completely fixed? he tells me You did not tell me to fix the car completely, you only told me to fix this. I was like I brought my car and I asked you I dont know anything about cars and something is wrong with it can you completely fix this car? you told me YES! he is big scumbag. This guy uses a line with all his customers. "I am a professional, I know what I am doing, I am not in the market to sell oil or batteries I do not do bad work if you want cheap work go to someone else" and that's how he rip you off. My car was running very smoothly after I took it to him it started to break every week. He doesn't work on the cars by him self he let couple of young guys do all the work while he deceives you with all the certificates that he hangs on his wall. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!! look for other people this guy is a bad person! He took more than 1900$ from me and my car is still facing a lot of crap! more shit than it had before ! my car is not old its 2006 has 60k only on it. He over prices everything what ever will cost you 100$ in another shop he will charge you 180$ for. I learned the hard way not to trust the mechanics at Vince's Automotive. I went a few months ago for a check engine light on my 2008 MINI Cooper: I initially chose to try this place out because of the "shuttle service" he offered. After advising that it is very dangerous to drive with this light on, Vince had one of his workers drive me home in MY car. They kept my car for almost a whole day and charged me $75 only to tell me that there nothing was wrong with my car but that I could bring it in again at no charge if the light comes back on. The light came back on so I took it back in. After another full day, he came back with a price estimate for a long list of services. I already had all of these services performed recently. I ended up taking my car to the dealership and they advised me that the list of services that Vince said I needed were coming up by a quick reading of the key fob. They then physically checked out my car and told me nothing was wrong. They didn't charge me because they didn't find anything wrong. I'm not sure why it took Vince a whole day to read the key fob and then charged me $75 to just to try and upsell me on services that I didn't need. Never going back to this place again! read more
