My friend and I visited on Sunday and it was absolutely lovely! The atmosphere was serene and although it was a windy day it still felt very comfortable to be outside in the ambiance they provide. All the wines were very tasty with our favorite being the white Bellatrix. They served crackers and cheese and fruits and it paired perfectly. Loved that people can bring their dogs there and we got to pet a couple of very good boys lol. There was also a cool cat hanging out who greeted us upon our arrival. Cole and the lovely young lady with the beautiful eye lashes were just awesome. They also had live music which tied it all together so perfectly! Great place for wine tasting. The service is amazing and the wine is fabulous. They also have a cheese ball platter that is really yummy, gourmet, and inexpensive. Jacques and Susanne are amazing hosts. Susanne is the owner and wine maker and as a wine aficionado, I am blown away at her wine making ability (rivaling UC Davis wine makers). " Very Good Wines, Snacks, & Hospitality " Vineyard Grant James is named after the winemakers son. We enjoyed their shade covered Italian inspired patio, the views of the grape vines, and their awesome wines. The winery is located in a beautiful part of Ramona, and the views are gorgeous. The owners came out and personally welcomed us with bread and oil and wine vinegar. They made us feel like special guests and explained their philosophy on producing wines. The bottle of Aquarius which is a Grenache-Syrah blend, that was irresistible, was our favorite drink of the day. It's the warm, family, friendly feeling, with a beautiful vineyard and great wine, that make this winery special. The service was wonderful - I highly recommend trying this spot and I know we will be going back ASAP. read more

We hit several wineries in this 'up & coming' wine area. This was our favorite because of the setting and the view. Ahhh. It's small but impressive at the same te. I really like their whites--but others in our group preferred the reds. But we all thought it was impressive how so much of what they've built is with reclaimed materials that would've ended up in the landfill except they turned it into something beautiful. Be sure to ask about that. And finally...we appreciated the free, ice cold water on a hot summer day of wine tasting. We'll be back. read more

First time visiting wineries in the Ramona area. Usually go to Temecula or Santa Ynez valley for tastings. Used a coupon we got on one of the various websites for tasting for 4 people plus a bottle of wine of your choice. This winery was pretty easy to find, a bit of a ways out. I would call it a bit rustic. It is all outside, including the port a johns (but they were very clean and large). They do have shade coverings and the patio was comfortable. They even had 2 "house cats" named Bad Cat 1 and Bad Cat 2 - cute. Owners and servers were very nice. Some limited food options, though we ate before we came. They also served you some bread samples, olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. They had a sweeter white, that I did not care for. All the labels were cool and the names of the wines cute/interesting. Basically the wine left something to be desired. Out of the 4 tastes, there was only one that I thought was decent and that is the bottle we choose. The views from the patio are lovely. It was a bit warm when we were there, but there was a nice breeze to keep it a bit cooler. They do have some nice sounding wine maker dinners (with hopefully better wines) that take place on the patio, in the vineyard, etc. Sounds nice. Not a bad place, but I hope the wine gets better. Frankly, for a newer winery, I thought the prices might be a bit cheaper. I can get cheaper bottle prices in Temecula from better places. read more

A wonderful family-owned winery with outdoor seating. Jacques is the co-owner and the wine server. He was very welcoming and a great conversationalist on wine from different parts of the world. A tasting is $10 a person for six tastings. They currently have one white and five reds for the tasting. There is a Groupon available for two person with 40% ($12) off a tasting and 50% for a four person ($20) tasting. I told Jacque that my wife loves Petite Syrah and Merlots. He offered my wife a sample of each wine on the house. We were also lucky to try their club members only wine "Phoenix". Recommend printing out your Groupon prior to going to the winery. Cell service is bad. All of their wines are blends. My wife loved their Volantis and I enjoyed the Phoenix. We joined their wine club. The wine club is a quarterly pick-up and you can choose to pick up 2, 4, or 6 bottles a quarter. read more

Me and my friend had the most valuable experience in our Life at this vineyard !! While we were travelling , expecting great and new discoveries, we did our way from the desert until their winery. ( that was decided meticouosly as per the reviews) they were closed, but Still the owner came to us with a grateful gesture of welcoming. Suzan was an impressived workharder woman who came to us on the first way. The wine was delicious. On my part my best was the Phoenix. I Knew that I was coming back in Canada in fall season and that this wine would be a great plus to any " mijoté " or " tagine " . And that was it !!!! This is definitely my favorite winery in San Diego County. They have a really beautiful tasting patio with a view of the whole vineyard. Super dog friendly-they gave my dog his own glass of water and a special treat too! I love the small business, family-owned feel. I live in La Jolla and will definitely be coming to Ramona for wine tasting rather than other parts of San Diego in the future. Such a treat! read more

Wonderful Vineyard!!! I was trained as a sommelier in Northern Italy and I must say that the wines from this young winery are near perfection ( what they have achieved in 8yrs takes many wineries a few decades). Barbara was running the patio, set a nice area aside for my group of 30, gave us all about 6 tastings which were comped with bottles, and set us up with a great caterer (Something Delicious). My husband and I come here all the time! I even threw him a surprise birthday here with about 20 people and everyone loved it! We love the wine, and we get a bottle of Bellatrix every time we go. The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere is amazing! Don't be alarmed by the dog/dogs that run up to you when you get out of your car! Instead of box chocolates, I took my BF to Vineyard Grant James. I used the Groupon deal. You get a taste of each wine. Their wines are really good! BF and I especially like Phoenix wine. It was just released last month. They are a newbie so their wines are a bit pricey but they are worth it. Phoenix wine isn't on their wine list yet. I also used a Yelp coupon, a $10 for a $20 deal. I bought a bottle of Phoenix wine. They even gave us 2 wine glasses so we could pour ourselves some wine while we linger our visit there and re-cork it for us. I also ordered a cheese ball. It comes with a plate of crackers, cheese ball and small bowl of olives. After the Yelp coupon, I only paid $5 and some cents. It was a such a deal! They gave us a coupon for 2 for 1 wine tasting for our next visit. We will definitely go back there again. We love the drive on the winding country back roads and the scenery. It was a very relaxing and a beautiful nice day there. P.S. There was service there for phones. read more

I came here using a Groupon with my husband and baby. We don't know anything about wine to be honest, but thought it sounded like a fun thing to go do. Right away everyone made us feel welcome and were super friendly. They chatted with us and played with our baby. The patio was cute and we had a great time sipping their tasty wines. We also ordered their delicious cheeseball with crackers snack. We decided to buy a bottle of wine and when we got home to our disappointment about 1/3 had spilled out! The foil was still intact so then we opened it and it was oddly missing a cork. It was more than what we were used to spending on a bottle of wine, so I called them to let them know what happened. They mailed out a replacement which I really appreciated. Overall great place and it should definitely be a stop on a everyone's list. The drive is even fun in my opinion. read more
