Great spot in WFC next to Banh mi DC. About 2 miles away from the hustle-bustle of Eden Center. Portions are large, don't order too many dim sum plates like we did (unless you have a large group). Notable mention on the pork/spinach dumpling, pineapple buns!! Charge based on 3 diff tier/portion size.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to check this place out. I love that the dim sum is made fresh to order so everything is nice and hot. The service was super friendly and all the dishes came out at a perfect rate. I was able to finish my first couple of orders and then my next orders would come out piping hot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really love that it's low key in the restaurant and that it's not too crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back!

Overall, it is a decent dimsum. We got everything to go. They have some unusual items I've never seen elsewhere like water chestnut dessert(nice), fried shrimp tofu pocket(kinda over fried). Siomay, Jang fen, dumplings are decent. I tried shark fin dumplings..idk, just pork and shrimp I think.. I don't love the shrimp chive dumpling, the dough is bit thicker than the one I'm used too, which usually is heavy on chives I thought. Bit diff from this place. They cuttlefish is nice tender but not seasoned at all, came w sauce separately. it took a while for the food to come out. Same complex as banh mi dc,around the corner.

Childhood staple for me! They have a great dim sum but don't sleep on lunch and dinner too. Fresh lobster, dungeness crab, soft shell crab, roast duck...etc. Service is always good, [[HIGHLIGHT]]dim sum time can be chaotic but I wouldn't take away from that traditional experience and environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] -SpicyAivy

Authentic, Fresh, and Family-Run: A Dim Sum Gem. True dim sum patrons know online 3 1/2 stars is the best. Because if you are looking for flashy fusion decor or a "trendy" vibe, keep driving. But if you want the kind of authenticity that speaks for itself, Vinh Kee is the place. Nothing says "legit" louder than seeing the owners' children doing homework or playing on their iPads at the table next to the counter--it's a true family-run neighborhood staple that prioritizes food over fluff. The variety here is extensive, but what truly sets them apart is the freshness. You can tell these aren't the mass-produced, frozen-then-steamed dumplings you find at many other spots. Everything we ordered felt like it was made to order in the back. Beyond the food, the service was a pleasant surprise. Even toward the end of their shift, the staff remained energetic and incredibly attentive. We never felt rushed, and our needs were met with a smile. We left very satisfied and will definitely be back. If you're in Falls Church and craving a truly authentic dim sum experience, I highly recommend Vinh Kee.

Their food is really hit or miss. I was impressed with their stir fry dishes like their chow fun and gai lan - both had excellent wok hay and was cooked to perfection and served hot. However, their dim sum dishes were quite disappointing - they claimed that their egg tarts were "baked fresh from the oven" but when I bit into it, the custard was stone cold and the pastry itself was very doughy. A lot of the other typical dim sum pastries were also doughy and were not fresh. Service was quite slow and they weren't super busy when we went in on a Sunday. We were there for almost 1.5 hours and had to constantly ask the waiter when our food was coming out. They also had a miscommunication where they forgot to bring out something and we had to remind the staff that we ordered it and then they brought out the wrong item. Overall pretty mid experience, would order some of the specific dishes again but most of them were unfortunately a miss for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall environment and ambiance was pretty dingy and felt grimy in general, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some authentic Cantonese food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A real gem in Falls Church! Tasty dim sum and friendly service! I loved the durian pastry -- reminded me of dishes I had in Hong Kong!

I love this place so much! It is the most authentic Cantonese food ( the culture as well) place in the DMV. You know it if you are Cantonese and have lived in Hong Kong or Guangdong province. They have the best 叉烧酥 and 千层糕, as well as other Cantonese dishes that you can't find in any other dim sum places. Unfortunately, I live in MD and hate to drive that far, so I do not go there super often, but I eat a lot of food and pack a lot of takeout with me when I go there.

Great friendly service every time! So they can make dim sum any time if they have it at $1 extra per item it's made as you order so it'll come out nice and hot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of tables but never have a lot of people I think it's due to lack of advertisement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But definitely my go to spot for dim sum in our area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty quiet in there since it's so empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here before but haven't been back for many years. To my delight they have dim sum here now so that was great. Inside looks just as I remember it with plenty of seating. Service was great and the waiter gave good knowledge of the menu. We ordered most of the traditional dim sum dishes and I enjoyed the food, it was very comparable to other places in this area. After my long hiatus I plan on coming back for dim sum now. Lastly I did notice is they had the pork buns that were baked and not in the traditional puffy bread. I prefer these since the traditional buns are just too much bread for me.

rotten roast pork - green/gray on several pieces of meat

I came here back in Feb 2024 for take out for Lunar New Year. i ordered 2 lb of Roast Pork and several other dishes. the pork was rotten and i had the most difficult time with the rude staff trying to get a refund. but the funny part was discovering the meat was rotten. when i got into the car with the food, it smelled horrible in the car... i thought someone farted! it wasn't, so we thought the baby had a really bad poopy diaper, but it wasn't. then we thought the dog has a bad tummy ache and might have diarrhea anytime, but he didnt. (sorry babies for blaming you) it wasn't until we got home and opened up the box of meat did we realize that it was the meat. the meat had green/gray spots ... and it smelled like rotting death in a sewer! the stink stayed in the car for a few more days... blech!! then there was telling the restaurant staff so other customers wont get sick eating the rotten meat. i got scolded multiple times, "our food is good, i dont know why you would say something horrible like that. we are busy!" it was the rest was a time-consuming and frustrating process to just get a refund. ugh! i thought...what a terrible way to start the new year, but in a way we were fortunate that we saw the rotten meat at the top and was spared of food poisoning. phew! i havent been back ever since - terrible food and rude service

We were like the food must be good lol When we got our food it was pretty cold. Which is weird cause they just opened. During our meal we hear screaming. It was 2 employees yelling at each other. My friends are Vietnamese and were saying that they were yelling about gambling money. It was pretty annoying and I could tell my friends were uncomfortable. But at the end is where it got really uncomfortable and awkward. The food and service was not good. So I tipped 15 percent. I should have tipped nothing but that's not me and I was in the service industry so i understand everyone has a day off. The, I assume manager or owner came up to the table and told me I'm required to tip 18 percent. I said where does it say that? He says on the receipt. I told him that says suggestions not required and that I could give him 0 tip. He proceeds to make a huge scene about the 2 extra bucks I need to pay. I finally cave because my friends were very very uncomfortable. As we leave my friend said the guy was a talking shit in Vietnamese to his employees about us. My recommendation is to go somewhere else. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had and all over 2 dollars that they didn't deserve. I see why they have a low yelp review.

Do not come expecting a solid seafood dinner. We came here after a nearby event. There was live music in the very sizable back lot area. People were actually up and dancing and having a great time. The vibes were stellar. I don't know if I would be into tbis place in the winter if I had to eat inside because the inside is kind of dingey, but outside in the summer is pretty paradisiacal. I did notice that they were doing karaoke in a weird little side room and it did not seem crowded on a Saturday night so that might be worth checking out. Servers were also all super nice. Pretty sure we entered the wrong way and kind of just let ourselves in through the back lot area and then we had no idea where to go to find a host(ess). So we asked the first server we could find where to go and she went "oh I can seat you" and grabbed two menus. Excellent. She also gave us our choice of wherever. The place is huge. Our assigned server was also nice and really knew the menu, which is not small. The menu had a ton of options including some really interesting tofu options and I had a hard time picking so I got excited. Also very customizable where you can choose your preparation. The beer list was not exactly artisinal...a lot of like...michelob ultra. And they had those island slushy kind of drinks. So at first I was like...this is my new weekend hangout. Then our drinks came. They were small and in little plastic cups. Wuhoh. Then our food came. I should have known it wouldn't be fresh. The price wasa little *too* good. When I asked about the catch of the day it was like four different things. I ended up with a buffalo grouper sandwich (grouper was one of the four things). I have had a fresh buffalo grouper sandwich in Clearwater before and that was in 2019 and I still remember it 7 years later. This buffalo grouper sandwich? Oh no. First of all it was this thin, flat battered fried cutlet thing. The breading absorbed the buffalo sauce so I couldn't taste it very much though they did bring me a lot of Bleu cheese dressing. The fish was bad. I bit into it and it tasted fishy and it was dry. Honestly if I hadn't been super hungry I would have just not eaten it. On top of that, I paid an extra dollar to upgrade from fries to hushpuppies. These were legit hushpuppies, but hushpuppies are small and how many did they bring me? 5. Are you kidding? Again, in Florida these are brought free by the basket. They're literally just fried up balls of corn meal. I think that may have offended me more than the bad fish. My husband went witb BBQ pulled chicken and fries and said both were good. So. Here are my thoughts. Would I come here again in the summer for fun vibes and good service? Yes. Would I set low expectations for my food and drink? Yes. Would I probably just order a softdrink and stick to something simple they can't screw up like a quesadilla and fries? Yeeeeeeeah.

They do something excellently and they keep doing it excellently. If you don't have more than four people, just get the duck. There's no need to get anything else. It's iconic. It's perfection. It's a lot of food. Enjoy.

Use to not be able to get a reservation on weekend but no longer the case anymore. What went wrong? I feel like ever since the pandemic, they started to go south. The price of the duck has reached a point that is no longer affordable. All other dishes prices continued to increase even though they are always just subpar. On this most recent trip, the duck was good, the Joe-yen shrimp portion is a bit less but the price has increased. The Shiitake with baby bok choy was good but not enough Shiitake. The usually dependable Shrimp fried rice was horrible. Not stir fried completely and no wok taste. Just bland like I can cook it at home. Sadly, that will be my last visit to this institution. Their answer to slower traffic seems to be raising the price and decreasing portions. 6 fried dumplings cost $16. Almost $3 a dumpling. That is price of an entree for 6 dumplings. One last note, I tried to eat my left over duck today and they did not even pack any hoisin sauce for me! How does one eat a Peking duck with no hoisin sauces?
