We went to dinner with a group of friends not knowing that they were offering happy hour deals for AYCE! - AYCE for $14.99/person after 8pm on Monday-Friday We got half Spicy Marrow broth and half Golden Cabbage Marrow broth. The spicy broth was not spicy enough for me, but it was still very flavorful! We ordered multiple rounds of meat and picked up fresh vegetables, seafood and dessert from the food bar. Was able to order broths (they don't individual pots, so make sure you come with good friends to share the communal split pot. The broth were decent, although not spicy at all. Sauce bar was limited too. They take your order for meats and they come out fairly quick. Everything else is pick-your-own and the ingredients were fresh. They also had shrimp fried rice, chow mein (this was good), spring rolls, and a few other hot items. Soft drinks are included. Solid hot pot spot. I can't say it's my favorite, but I did enjoy my experience here. They allow you to grab your own toppings, veggies, and drinks which I really liked (some hot pot places you have to get the servers attention to refill so it was nice we didn't have to wait). Meat was pretty good - the lamb was my favorite, which I now understand, why they named the place Happy Lamb. Sauce station was okay... I wish it had more potency. Not bland, but nothing exciting to rave about. Overall, a solid 4 star establishment. They do have a special from 3pm-5pm and 8pm to close where they only charge $19.99. That is a steal!! The food was yummy and the price point was about $35-40 a person for the premium which included wagyu beef. I enjoyed the freedom to get up as many times as I want and not have to choose everything at once from the start. The two broths we chose were also very flavorful so I'm very satisfied with that. As a party of 2, we had a disappointing experience. At the sauce, drink, seafood, vegetables, miscellaneous food lines, diners were impolite and continuously cut lines as well as performed unhygienic practices. Only one pair of tongs is given for tens of selections of foods, making cross-contamination extremely likely. We had to order meat products by asking our server directly, which was inconvenient and slow, and meat plates took 10 minutes per plate to be given to our table (12:30-2pm on Tuesday). If you are unaware the restaurant is located in the famous Eden Center which depending on the day can be very busy so be aware of the limited parking situation. Restaurant was nice with plenty of options you have one broth per table or can do a split broth bowl. Options include the regular meats and a premium meats section. I believe that you can get good enough selection on the regular priced side. Servers come around regularly to top up your broth if you are running low and check in if you want to order more meats. They have a grab yourself sides (including seafood noodles and veggies) as wells as a make your own sauce bar. Happy lamb is easy to find being part of the Eden center with plenty of parking. The staff are super friendly and helpful for when you have questions. It's about $30 a person or $36 for the premium meat menu. We chose the regular menu and didn't feel like we missed out on anything. If you aren't familiar with hot pot dining it is definitely something to experience. You have a pot of broth (we suggest going the one split into a spicy and regular broth) boiling at the center of your table and you get raw food brought to you that you then cook yourself in the broth before eating it. The food is limitless, you just have to ask for more and they have all the meat, vegetables, and noodle options you can think of and the meal makes for a great social experience so go with family or friends you like. Absolutely wonderful! Delicious food, fantastic service, and great value for your money (especially now that they've switched over to AYCE). The second we hit the fall / winter months, I find myself constantly craving hot pot, and Happy Lamb is definitely my go-to spot in the DMV. The broths are all incredibly flavorful; I particularly love their herbal broth, but both the classic / traditional and Sichuan / spicy options are phenomenal as well. There's a phenomenal selection of seafood, veggies, and noodles available at the food bar, as well as a smattering of ready-cooked items like shrimp chips, dumplings, or mini donuts with condensed milk. The staff is also quite accommodating of vegetarians / vegans; while the broth is traditionally bone broth, you can get a water-based version for any of the menu options. You certainly end up missing out on some of the flavor, so I wish they were better able to supplement some of the richness that you would've gotten from the bone broth otherwise, but I appreciate that there are at least veg-friendly options available. It also would have been helpful for them to have different pricing options for vegetarians; there are different tiers of meat sets, but I wish there were a "no meat" option as well. The meat quality here is very good compared to all the other places I've been to. The lamb and brisket were so soft and tender- love it! Get here early to get on the waitlist and prepare to wait at least 20-30 min. My advice is to take some time and walk around Eden center and take in the local culture, sights, and especially smells from all the delicious food places. My go-to is the lamb. I used to try and rotate between the lamb and pork but the lamb is just so good. Get yourself the best of both worlds so you have one side spicy and the other non-spicy. I don't usually go out for hot pot but having already been out all day, we didn't have time and heard great things about this place so had to try it out. There were two selections and since we don't venture to Virginia that often, we went with the more inclusive option. Unfortunately one of the meats was not available but we still had plenty to choose from along with various veggies and seafood we could get ourselves. Going during peak dinner hours, we often had to flag down a server to place additional orders of meat. Despite all this, I would recommend people trying this place out! Definitely expect to wait a bit if you go during peak busy hours. Google said that there was no wait time for when we wanted to go but had to wait ~45 mins as we couldn't reserve ahead of time. My party of 3 arrived on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm and we were able to get seated immediately. They have two options for AYCE (regular and premium) and your entire party must choose the same option. We were initially going to choose premium but the staff was nice enough to give us a heads up that some of the options weren't available that night so we ended up going with regular. They have a wide variety of soup bases and our table went with the 1/2 and 1/2 option which is their house broth and a spicy version. This is the safest option if you're not too sure what type to order! I thought both broths were flavorful but definitely enjoyed the slight kick from the spicy one. All meats are ordered with the server and the rest of the goodies (vegetables, seafood, fish balls, noodles, etc) are self serve. They also have a soft drink station included in your meal. The meat quality was pretty solid which kinda solidified the idea that premium isn't really necessary. Make your monies worth and get everything but the chicken! My favorites were the marinated garlic beef, hand sliced beef short plate, and kurobuta pork. Not only that, I went crazy at the self serve area and probably grabbed like 10+ mussels. Price is justifiable because you easily make your money's worth and the quality is good. Bonus points because you leave feeling stuffed without feeling gross.
