Vinni's used to be the place to go if you wanted a good slice of pizza or quick delivery. Hasn't been the same lately. We ordered a pizza for delivery, waited more than 2 hours and never received the pizza. First time we called we were told pizza is on it's way. Half hour later still nothing. Called them back again and this time they couldn't locate the order. It would have been if they told us the truth that they either messed up the order or forgot about it instead of keep lying. This is not a way to run a business. I hope their customer service will get better with time read more

We eat Vinni's probably once or twice a month now, and it is consistently good every time. We've tried their plain, pepperoni, white broccoli ricotta, spinach ricotta, supreme, plain with garlic, and buffalo chicken and ALL have been delicious. Ordered my pie over the phone; and when I arrived they couldn't find my order. Then they finally found it under a different name and was made wrong. Saw this place advertising in our local clipper magazine and the veggie pie looked awesome. So I did what most people would do and ordered that and a penne vodka pie. The veggie pie was very disappointing. It had too much orange and red peppers. The cheese wasn't anything to write home and tell momma about. Pizza is a lot like sex. When it's good, it's amazingly good. When it's bad, it's still pretty good. This is the difference between New York/Jersey pizza and the best anything Mass has to offer. After spending my teenage years in northern jersey, peddling 100k miles on a BMX with other friends between pizza joints, i can state with fortitude, Vinni's is the best of the best. Its a throwback pizza joint, all you would expect from the cliche "Vinni's" name. Still there are the parquet tile floors, the more grey than white-popcorn drop down ceiling, the swivel chair tables, the enthusiastic soccer game playing on a tiny tube tv. Lots of yelling for all to see, the speed, efficiency and urgency by the always sweat drenched men-only is quite amazing. No organic selections here, no no. Whats gone? The few arcade games, replaced by new fruit and energy drinks. The BMX bikes normally outside replaced by shiny new sports cars and jeeps. The pizza? Its perfect, just perfect. I'll skip the description perhaps making this review quite useless. All you need to know is that Vinni's has been a town staple for decades long and for god reason. Buyer beware. Each of the last couple of times my family and/or I have visited, we have been overcharged for four substeaks. On the most recent visit last week, we were charged $32 for four sandwiches that were listed to be $6.50 each. With a 7% sales tax, the order should be $27.82. When challenged, the guy behind the counter gave an excuse about taxes and rising costs and instead said it would cost $30. Is this a negotiation for items with a list price? Service quality has also deteriorated over time sadly. The staff working are not as friendly or responsive. There was a group of 5 customers waiting to place their orders while we waited, and a few staff members just standing around helplessly. Let me say, the food still remains as good as I've enjoyed since I was younger, but I think there is some shady business practices happening here. read more

Ordered food for delivery, among other things zeppoli. The zeppoli arrived cold, greasy, and without any powdered sugar. Called to report " their error". I was told I could come up to pick up another order, or get a gin is credit. I asked to speak to the owner and heard him tell the young girl answering the phone " he was too busy"! This sounds like a cliche when I say I NEVER write reviews (the bad food usually isn't worth wasting my time writing a yelp review), but believe me when I say Vinni's was GOD AWFUL and probably the worst food experience I've ever had. So I felt obligated to warn others not to spend their money here. I ordered a pizza, wings, and a 2 liter soda for delivery (not even 5 minutes away). The food came ice cold and the delivery guy tried to charge me $10 more than the price listed in their ad (which I EVEN CONFIRMED on the phone). The pizza was burnt, 100% cheese with no tomato sauce and very limited pep. The wings were 95% fried batter and barely any meat. Both were ice cold and covered in grease. The blue cheese that came with the wings was a digusting liquid mess (definitely expired). AND they didn't give us our 2 liter soda...their excuse was "uhhh we didn't have any 2 liters left so all I have is 2 cans", and they weren't even the same soda we ordered. Shocked this place is still in business. Gross. Consider yourself warned. read more

Ordered 2 cheese pies special $19.95 plus one mushroom but gave us half. When they even asked again full mushroom gave us half mushroom. Probably charged full. I've been going to this place for more than 30 years their pizzas shrunk into 12 inch pie. Kid size chucky cheese pizza quality for full price. Big pizzas for instore only. Oh they got new boxes, they laughed in our faces. Business suicide for sure. I called back at 1012pm. No answer of phone to rectify the mushroom mishap. Last time, goodbye Vinni's nice job tonight. I'm pleasantly surprised to see other reviews for Vinni's. Though it's a little strange to see people reviewing something from my hometown. . . Vinni's has been my #1 favorite pizza spot since. . . well since I was old enough to chew. There are a million other pizza places in Wayne and the surrounding 'hoods, but none of them even come close. I'm not sure exactly what it is- the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the sauce, the absolute perfect texture of the crust- hmm, I guess I do know what it is. I always say how much I prefer 'NY style' pizza, when the truth is, I prefer NJ style. Same floppy slices, same orange oil, but the slices are manageable, as opposed to gigantic. This is the pizza of my childhood. The pizza I would crave while away at college. The pizza I would make my mom get at least once on every trip home. And now that my mom is moving and I'll probably never go to Wayne ever again, it is the pizza I will mourn for the rest of my life. I love it so much that I attempted to bring some back with me today, but thanks to the terrorists I couldn't bring ice packs on the plane, and thanks to the economy I would have been charged $15 to check my bag. So the pizza got smushed into my carry-on, sans ice, for about 6 hours. If it kills me when I eat it, I will go with a smile on my face. read more

Just like any other town in the Jersey 'burbs, Wayne's got the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. 1)-The Good The taste of nostalgia is like a powerful drug. And Vinni's has it in spades. It's wonderful. Sure, some people won't be impressed with this single slice of sodium heaven, but all we have to do is question their judgement. Their morals. Their horrendous taste in music. And the awful clothes that they wear. Reeks of hometown bias? So what? Sink your fangs into one of their subs (chicken cutlet's a fave) or mussels, which are highly recommended. Have tried their penne with vodka sauce in the past and enjoyed it as well. 2)-The Bad Their delivery time: they get REAL backed up sometimes, and I doubt they've got enough drivers in their rotation. 3)-The Ugly This has nothing to do with Vinni's, but the town of Wayne: taxes are too damn high, and there's constant flooding and power outages. Things were NEVER this bad when I was growing up there. You don't need a car to get by in Wayne today - you need a life raft and a power generator. There's also too many Giants and Jets fans. Big Bloooo and Gang Greeeeen. I've been tempted to order an extra pie and pull a "Walter White." You know, throwing a whole pizza pie on the roof of their biased fanboy/fangirl homes (just kidding, Wayne PD. LOL! Ha ha ha...). And go grab a Vinni's T-shirt right at the counter for like ten bucks. I get a new one every year or so - old habits are hard to break. read more

I just went to Vinni's tonight based on the reviews from here and was terribly disappointed. I got a pie for my wife and myself to go and drove home with it. I seriously don't see what everyone else does, the pizza was average at best and after a five minute drive home the second slice was soggy. I ordered the Gnocchi in Butter Sauce and to say it was undercooked would be an understatement! The gnocchi were RAW DOUGH!!!! The 'pasta' should have been put in boiling water for at least 5-10 minutes before putting them into the plastic container. As for the butter sauce...there was next to none in the container; and if the person who was making this meal thought that what little butter they were using would 'cook' the pasta....yeah, NO! The chicken was supposed to be grilled...it wasn't; I'd say boiled to be considered cooked, tossed on a flat griddle to brown it just a bit and then cut and put on top of the doughy gnocchi. There should have been parm cheese and oregano as a topping, none present. I had to re-boil the gnocchi for dinner tonight so that I could call the pasta cooked!!! If I knew I had to do that, I'd buy the supplies to make them myself!!! I'm going to think twice before ordering any more food from Vinni's ever again. Very disappointing for the price paid. The best part was the delivery - it only took Vinni's a 1/2 hour to get that debacle of a meal to me! read more

I was turned on to their Capri Pizza, and I like everything whole-wheat. Usually pizza is horrible for me, slows me down for days, just can't digest all that dough. This pizza is amazing. I have gotten it a few days in a row, as well because it has more fiber I am ok with 1-2 slices a meal. You have to get a pie with whole wheat capri, costs a bit more than 20 bucks, but it is really good. Otherwise, other pizza is great there too! Best pizza in town. Don't ease from this good review Vinni's! I usually get take out and they are right on time taking 15 to 20 minutes with this. read more

Got the Buffalo Chicken pizza... I thought the buffalo chicken itself was tasty. There weren't little pools of Bleu Cheese dressing tho :( The crust was thin and soggy. It was a natural disaster of sorts. When it was hot, all of the ingredients kind of flowed off the pizza like molten lava. When it was leftover, all the chicken avalanched off the slice. The ingredients were not baked into the pizza... maybe the crust should have been thicker? I don't know. So far any bread product I have eaten from the Paterson/Wayne area has been soggy mush. This place is soooo old school but I loved that about it. The light fixtures have little pizza men on them- it's so tacky that it borders on awesome! I went here for the wheat crust pizza which I'd read about in other Yelp reviews. I thought it was ok but nothing to really rave about- a tad bit too greasy. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but if I was in the area and looking for some wheat pizza, I'd definitely consider it. Something I didn't know until I ordered was you can only get wheat crust by the pie not by the slice. But a small pie is only 6 slices so it's enough to share with someone else without being too overwhelming. read more

There are two simple aspects to Vinni's. 1. Their pizza is very good. It is a thin crust with a sweet sauce that blends perfectly with the cheese and a little oil. It was and still is one of my favorites from when I was a kid. 2. Their staff is among the worst you will deal with. They are rude, short and obnoxious towards customers. This is either on the phone ordering or in line with other customers. At times I question why I put up with it, and the reason is because their food is good. But there have been occasions that I don't want to deal with the D-Bags behind the counter and I will go somewhere more convenient and where customers are treated with respect. read more

I'm a big fan of Vinni's and have been eating their pizza since 1979. A favorite lunch stop for American Cyanamid employees back in the 80s and 90s. My personal favorite is their pizza steak sub which brings me back to my college days - this was my favorite sandwich at Joe's Sub Shop in Glassboro, NJ. I have only been to this restaurant once but I have eaten take out from here many times, mainly due to the fact that whenever I go to someones house or had some sort of pizza party in school, this is the place that was ordered from. I don't really understand what the hype is about. The pizza is soggy and has way too much sauce with not enough cheese and not to mention that the actual restaurant is a pigsty. I'm going to be completely honest: The service here: 5 stars The person behind the counter was very polite, very nice & accommodating. I was really surprised that he was so patient with us even though it was like 8-9pm. We ordered a large pie with sausage & mushrooms and a spinach calzone. The pizza was just alright, nothing special. The crust was decent but I feel as if it wasn't a good cheese to sauce ratio. Also the mushrooms were basically just heated up, it didn't really FUSE with the pizza. Maybe its because we went so late in the day? Regardless, I'd say the pizza was like a two.. maybe its because I'm used to pizza in the city, who knows! I didn't try the calzone because it was for my uncle but they were really nice about it and made that for us even though it was late. Overall I guess I'd go again (according to reviews its the best pizza in the area..) So maybe I'll go earlier in the day to see if I get a better product. & PLUS they're so nice! read more

Ordered garlic sticks- they were extremely rubbery upon delivery, then got rock hard shortly thereafter, as if they were microwaved before leaving the store Ordered French fries- they were dark brown as if they were fried twice, but were slightly more edible than the garlic sticks. Since so many places are closed on Mondays, we decided to check this place out based on other reviews. We love to visit new pizza joints and this one didn't disappoint. The decor is what you'd expect from an older local pizza joint- no frills, service was just okay. We ordered a large cheese pie ($13) and it was ready in minutes. The crust tasted like a baguette to me, it just didn't have much flavor. It was good and crispy on the bottom. The sauce was very tangy and had a nice taste. Each slice was loaded with melted cheese in every bite. The cheese was salty and greasy, just how you'd want it. Since we live far away we probably won't be back for a while.
