Since so many places are closed on Mondays, we decided to check this place out based on other reviews. We love to visit new pizza joints and this one didn't disappoint. The decor is what you'd expect from an older local pizza joint- no frills, service was just okay. We ordered a large cheese pie ($13) and it was ready in minutes. The crust tasted like a baguette to me, it just didn't have much flavor. It was good and crispy on the bottom. The sauce was very tangy and had a nice taste. Each slice was loaded with melted cheese in every bite. The cheese was salty and greasy, just how you'd want it. Since we live far away we probably won't be back for a while. In terms of tri-state pizza, Vinni's is a staple. I've known them to have great pizza for years now but only recently have gotten into their cheesesteaks and sandwiches (which are also great). Decided to grab some wings and a pie last night. My order was ready to go as soon as I got there. The wings stayed crisp in the takeout box and had flavor down to the bone. As for the pie, Vinni's sauce has a good tomato flavor, bright enough and not overly seasoned. The cheese is good quality, melted well and doesn't come off the whole slice in one bite. The food here is great. I've ordered hot subs and pizzas , which have been fulfilling and completely satisfying. My reasoning behind the one star is based on their customer service. Never order online! I have learned that they get most orders wrong online. Assume and replace condiments to compensate missing ones and when I called the restaurant to tell them they gave us the wrong order and there were missing items, he said he was going to recharge us again. I had to argue over the phone so I wouldn't be charged again. I've been waiting over an hour for the replacement sandwich. Overall, it was a sour experience and definitely not worth the hassle. This was a real disappointment. I'm from out of town and staying at a local hotel. Which means I have no plates, utensils, napkins etc. The pizza is decent. I ordered a caesar salad as well. Hard to eat with no plates or forks. A loaf of French bread accompanied the order....which was smashed, semi-stale and there was no butter or garlic. I called to let them know how this order arrived. The tool that answered the phone could care less. His parting comment was "sorry bud, we'll try and do better next time." First of all when you order online on their website, It takes you to Eatstreet website to make a payment. They have no way of showing online of what items are available or not. After Placing the order When I called to find out time of delivery, They mentioned that they do not have 3 items out of 6 items that I have ordered.There was no communication as far as How to refund my money If those items are not available. Instead, Owner said I do not have those, I will send you whatever I have. What kind of customer service is this? Fix your damn website or remove the option of ordering online. Have decency to offer a refund or offer an item to be replaced with. You CAN NOT say I do not have it so I will send you this. Up until last weekend Vinni's was my favorite pizza in town. I live very close and was my "go to" on fridays nights. Last weekend I went in to pick up my pizza and decided to use their restroom. I had to wait I heard the toilet flush and an employee walk right out into the kitchen without washing his hands. The toilet was still flushing as he walked right out in a rush. How can anybody write a review about Vinni's (a Wayne staple since waaaay back when - they even still have the old "Hardee's" chairs!!) and not mention the Vinni's SPECIAL sub sandwich - TO DIE FOR!!! My husband, mom, and I will get 2 and split them....we are usually fighting over the last little bit - this sandwich has the best bread EVER - it's soft on the inside, and warm and crusty on the outside - Just enough for a nice crunch, but not too much so you cut the roof of your mouth up. Then, they pile on the meats, cheeses, and handful of lettuce, onions, peppers (hot and/or sweet), O&V and off you go.... My hubby and I went to New Orleans a few years back and ordered the much talked about 'muffaletta'. while we sat on the steps, waiting for the St. Charles StreetCar we commented how that measly, oily New Orleans favorite had absolutely nuttin' on Vinni's! Ordered for takeout and was so disappointed with their safety protocols during COVID-19. I have ordered recently for delivery and the food was good but tonight I saw the scary truth. Went inside and multiple staff workers were either wearing masks improperly or not all behind the counter near the food. During my 15 minutes inside waiting, I saw multiple workers remove masks to eat and drink right at quick service counter and hovering over the pizzas that just came out of the oven. Finally as my food finished a staff member picked up my bag of fries and brought it to his FACE( with the mask not covering his nose) as if he were smelling them or wiping his face on it!! When confronted about it he refused and even pulled down his mask further off his face to tell me he didn't "realize what he was doing and that he wasn't paying attention" Needless to say didn't take home that food and WILL NOT be giving them my business again which is a shame because the food is not bad. Vinni's Pizzarama: One of the funniest names ever for an Italian Pizza joint. When we have guests over and I tell them where we're getting the pizza from ... they laugh BUT, I have to admit, it is memorable! I've been eating Vinni's food since high school ... Good God I'm old! I remember when they opened AFTER THE HARDEE'S shut down (check out their chairs, you can still see the shape of the "H" for Hardee's on the back "spindles"). Vinni's was, I believe, a spin-off of Brother Bruno's further up on Hamburg Turnpike (near the Haledon border). For me, the fascination began with a calzone; I'd never heard of them and my buddy, Rich (a big eater with a big smile) talked of it lovingly (almost fetish-like actually). To him, it was like a girl in a tube top waving us over (in 1978-79, the tube top was the equivalent of today's tatooed "tramp stamp" - it meant "Hubba Hubba" and then some). He was right, the calzones were just amazing and fresh. If you get a fresh one - it's heaven; if its been sitting around it can actually get "sour" when the milky ricotta turns. Their pizzas are really good but they do have a tendency to make them "well done", sometimes "toasted/char-broiled" describes it better. If you're picky about stuff like that, warn them "DON'T OVERCOOK MY PIE" and they won't (maybe) but they could curse it with the Italian Evil Eye (they know this kind of stuff - many of them speak only Italian and they get mad at you if THEY don't understand you!). I just now ordered a small pie, half meatball and the pizza guy shouts into the phone "WHAT???" - real annoyed at me (this wasn't a case of too much noise). He acted as if I said "half elephant, half coco-puffs." The Italians - ah, they can be so charming!!! Bottom line - its really pretty damn good pizza. The meatball parm hero is good and sometimes the eggplant parm dinner is especially good (depends on who cut the eggplant; Mr. Thick Cut doesn't know what he's doing but somebody there knows their way around that purple monster. The Italian Sub is good but you have to close your eyes when you take bites; its got that weird deli meat that looks like baloney with fat chunks in it (shiver/shake). Mortadella? In English, it translates into Death Meat. Oh, the pickup counter is living proof of Darwin's Survival of The Fittest; check all you've learned about politeness and the system of "first come, first served" - You have just two friends at The Pizzarama at 6:30 PM on a Friday night ... they're called your elbows.
