Four ladies selected Vino for our summer evening get together. We started off with cocktails in the gallery bar, a great place for conversation, with a sleek, white-modern decor made us feel like we were in some European exotic city. Friends enjoyed Pims cup with fresh cucumber and a Mojito with fresh mint. The beverages were so beautiful that other guests immediately inquired as to what we had ordered. Next we ventured over for dinner and were given our choices of tables inside, on a covered patio, or out under the trees. It was a warm evening so we selected the covered patio which had a very nice ceiling fan. The ambience was just perfect and it was so pretty seeing the diners outside under the trees with the twinkling lights. All of the entrées sounded so nice, it was difficult to choose, but we ended up with the Grouper with Spinach, Tomatoes and Artichokes over a lovely small bowtie pasta, the stuffed Artichoke Pasta (which got rave reviews) and, the most beautiful, was the Salmon Asparagus Caprese with a stack of beautiful red tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Everyone raved about the dishes and there was plenty of sharing happening at our table. It was so nice to have a place where we could enjoy conversation without feeling rushed - the waiters did not hurry us or snatch up our plates. Overall it was a perfect dining experience. All agreed we would return again and again. read more

This is a nice place to hang out and have wine or a drink. Their food is also good, however, I was not impressed with the pasta dish I ordered. The marinara was something out of a can I think and the pappardelle was overcooked. The service is excellent and I also ordered the zest sauteed gulf shrimp (Excellent); the oysters were fresh and the Beet salad was acceptable (It indicated roasted beets, but I highly doubt about the roasting part). The atmosphere is excellent and there is plenty of outdoor seating. All in all, a nice relaxing ambience. read more

Phyisical layout, interesting - association with art gallery, interesting - - by the glass vine list, good - food choices, good - we had the salmon and stuffed pork tenderloin - good, not great. Service - - poor, poor - - at our request, we sat at a corner table, kinda out of the way - mistake !!!! Wine came out quick enough as did the appetizer - crowd increased, service dropped into the toilet - complained, manager apologizes - but no change in poor service. I was up looking for the manager again to request our check because we were ready to go to Wendy's for something to eat - dinner magically appeared - food good enough, but not good enough to over come the poor service - after dinner, I had to track down someone for take home boxes - then I again tracked down the manager for our check - our waiter brought our check, which was the first time we saw him since he delivered our meal. In baseball, they say that you are only as good as your last bat - Vino goes to the bottom of my list of 100 places to eat in Birmingham or maybe the bottom of the 250 list. read more

Atmosphere was great! Service was horrible... i ordered the hanger steak which was a fine choice of meat, but came topped with wasabi which ruined the entire dish. It took 45 minutes for food to come and another 45 just to receive the check. Probably would not come back to this restaurant. read more

Ordered Calamari and the cheese platter. Calamari was VERY good. The cheese platter was hot garbage. Lamb Shank was so tender I couldn't get it on a fork, yum. I think I saw my server 3 times. I sat without water multiple times. He forgot to put in my dates app and then later said they were out. read more

The service was horrible. Server was not attentive at all. It took forever to get the food and to pay. Food was lackluster. Flavors didn't really jump out at you. The quality of the food was ok. Tried going to vino for dinner. After being sat outside, we waited for twenty minutes and were never once approached or talked to. Were never even brought water. I have never been treated this poorly by a restaurant. Walked out in frustration, likely won't return. read more

We went here during 2014 "Restaurant Week" for their prix-fixe offering at $30/each for appetizer, entree, and dessert. On the whole, a good experience. The outdoor seating area is GREAT--really one of the most attractive we've seen anywhere--and on the night we were there, it was a perfect time to be outside due to unseasonably cool/non-humid Alabama weather. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food came at a good pace--though I am always disappointed to eat places where they don't provide any bread or any kind of little crust of anything right at the beginning (which was the case here). In any case, our food was all good and served in nice proportions. We had the chicken / pasta dish and the grouper. The desserts were especially good -- apple fritters were excellent and the key lime cheesecake huge and deliciously tart. The only slightly negative notes were that my husband wasn't sure the yogurt/mint soup was quite right (rest of us thought it was ok), and the service seemed a little bit, somehow, bored. But these couple of things didn't detract from an overall very positive outing. We'd definitely go there again next time we're in Birmingham. read more

We feel so lucky living near some of the country's top restaurants. We frequent Vino every chance that we get. The atmosphere, the service and the food are all outstanding. One of our favorites is Mediterranean " Salmon Farfella" which has very little pasta but makes up for it with spinach leaves and large chunks of roasted Salmon. Six of us went to Vino for dinner. Once we discovered that there is a Gallery Oyster bar in front, we went there for our drinks. We had the best hand crafted cocktails in Birmingham. Couple of our girls fell in love with our very polite but friendly bartender. We then walked to the back of the building for dinner at Vino which was fabulous. This place tucked away in English village is awesome. Such a nice atmosphere, along with the best service, reasonable prices and a nice varied menu is truly amazing and it's a must to take out of town visitors there. Vino is a wonderful restaurant with a very accommodating staff. I organized a birthday dinner there for my wife and we had a party if 14 people that were very happy with the food, wine, service, and atmosphere. The food was very good, even my wife loved it, and she's from southern Italy! They have an extensive wine selection. The service left nothing desired, which is what will definitely bring me back there. But the "X factor" that I would say makes Vino special is the environment. The outside patio, as well as the modern furnishings inside, make it a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. It is also an art gallery, which adds an extra bang for your buck! We over heard people on the next seat talking about Vino heading to Birmingham. After all the good things we heard we headed there next night for dinner. Vino is tucked away in the cute English Village of Mountain Brook. The ambiance, a beautiful patio, a very chic and modern inside and a very warm greeting by their staff got us very excited from the start. The food is simply amazing. My roasted grouper and fennel tossed with lots of grape and spinach leaves in a very lite white wine lemon sauce was awesome. We had their famous apple fritters and after a very nice and relaxing evening left Vino with lots of great memories. We definitely recommend this romantic restaurant. read more

Last night was my first visit to Vino to meet a friend for dinner and drinks. I enjoyed the modern and artistic scene of the venue along with a relaxed vibe and friendly, warm, and attentive staff. The cuisine was fresh, healthy, and delicious! I would definitely go back to Vino. read more

lets just say the weather was great. should have said goodbye when a resturant named vino has a wine list to rival wal mart. trust me have a drink if you can get a table up front on your way out to chez fon fon but don't let it go any further read more
