Enjoyed dinner at Locanda Brasato. Very quick and attentive service and the restaurant has a cool, intimate vibe. We started off with the lobster arancini and the whipped ricotta. The arancini was divine - I've never seen lobster arancini on a menu! The whipped ricotta was good as well. For mains, we got the carbonara and the short rib pizza. The carbonara was great! Definitely on the more liquidy side versus a thick sauce, but I still thought the taste was good. My husband really enjoyed the pizza. Great spot for dinner in MB! read more

Wowie! Friend and I came here to try out Mountain Brook Village's newest spot! We came for lunch on Saturday, I do believe they're open for lunch on weekdays now, too. This is the old Post Office Pies location and I'm so glad to see someone's still using the pizza oven! This is a great addition to MB Village, and you can walk to Jeni's for ice cream right after. I would say that Locanda Brasato is comparable in vibes to Luca over in Homewood. However, I prefer the thin crust pizza here. If there's burrata on the menu, I'm ordering it. The burrata was fantastic, with butternut squash and golden raisins. I could've done with a little more bread, tho :). We also tried the lamb meatballs. Again, great. I'm in my Lamb Era. Finally, we split the soppressata pizza. Our waiter (Taylor was awesome) brought out a chilli oil to go on top, which had a great flavor, too. I think the crust is a sourdough, which has a good tang. Mountain Brook Village was BUSY. Parking was pretty hard to find. I ended up over at the grocery store. Short walk. I 100% recommend adding this to your list of places to try. Amazing experience !!! The branzino was superb, so much flavor ! Paired it with the summer salad and the champagne vinaigrette was yummy !!! Dessert was as my fave part! I was not expecting a very thin carbonara sauce like a little soupy thin texture, taste bland to me, I guess I am used to a cheesy thicker consistency, the belly is probably better if this is fried. I recently read that Locanda Brasato recently opened. We love all things Italian and decided to give it a try. It is a charming restaurant with a nice covered patio. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful. I had branzino and my husband had a short rib pizza. Both dishes were fresh and absolutely yummy. They have a full bar with a wide selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. We will definitely go back and try the other menu items. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the staff! Our server was extremely helpful and gave us tips on other restaurants to visit in the area! She was excellent and a bright spot during our visit. I was a little thrown by the decor in the restaurant as it doesn't match the vibe of the food in my opinion. Also I wish they had considered noise level while designing the space since it's so new and they likely had an opportunity to add elements that would reduce noise. It was pretty full when we went and was very very loud to the point we couldn't hear each other talk. We were in the back corner so it's possible the acoustics made it worse where we were sitting. The meatballs were excellent and I think they're the best I've had in Birmingham. I was not very impressed with my pasta (tagliatelle)-- I think they were trying to do something unique with the dish but it was just dry and not very tasty in my opinion. Everyone else loved their dishes though! The short rib ravioli was really good and I would come back to try that myself. The dessert (hazelnut chocolate mousse) was alright but nothing to write home about. Overall I had a good experience but I'm interested to try it again to see if things get better in the future. read more

Appetizers: + veal meatballs delicious + burrata cheese quite tasty Main dishes: + vodka pasta - wife loved + short rib ravioli - tasty The restaurant is new, only open a couple of weeks. Still, the operation was smooth and the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. In terms of value, it was on the expensive side, but I imagine the rent in this area is pretty high. I awarded 4 stars, because I think there is a little upside to be had here. 4.5 is my actual score. I was pleased and satisfied but not blown away by the food.
