Vinsetta garage did have delicious burgers. All of us got a burger, which is their specialty really enjoyed it. Now the macaroni and cheese on the other hand was not good at all. I went with a close friend to Vinsetta's Garage for lunch on Sunday, February 15, and had a fabulous experience. The food was great but, most importantly, our server Kelly was excellent. The restaurant was packed so she was very busy, but she took the time to answer our questions, bring extra drinks, and make some menu suggestions while keeping a very pleasant smile on her face the entire time. That's the kind of service you wish you could get everywhere! Needless to say, she got a lot of thanks and a great tip. My advice to the management is to find more servers like Kelly and reward them accordingly!! This is my 1st review of any kind! Absolute worst food we have ever had! I ordered a pizza & it tasted like cheap pizza from the freezer section at the grocery store. I sent it back. 2 others in our party ordered the "Breaker" burger; which the waitress described a "an amazing burger, too big to bite with burger, brisket, Mac & cheese, & candied bacon". Unfortunately it was none of those! It was a thin patty with very little brisket. As for the Mac & cheese - well I'm not sure if placing 2...yes, 2 noodles on the burger counts but they did. When we addressed it with the waitress she did have them make up Mac & cheese but it took another 40 minutes to come out. The kicker...the bill was $85.92...for crap food & no drinks (just water)!!! Vinsettas is a (and possibly THE) Woodward Ave staple. The restaurant used to be an operating garage and they kept the theming up beautifully. It's always clean and upbeat. The service, even when busy, is always great! I have been to vinsettas hundreds of times and I highly recommend checking it out. I've tried nearly the whole menu and yes the burgers are worth it. This place is awesome because it's located just outside downtown Royal Oak, technically in Berkley. That means you can avoid the nightmare of finding parking in downtown! I love the decor of this place. It's welcoming yet unique. It has a cool industrial car garage vibe, hence its name, Vinsetta's Garage. It's the ideal theme for its location right off Woodward. It's a fantastic spot to hang out with friends, family, or even for a date night. I've been here multiple times and the food is always good. However, I haven't been in a while because I started to get a bit bored with the menu. When I used to come here, their pizza ovens were out of order, so the majority of the menu was just burgers. And don't get me wrong, their burgers are delicious, but I started to crave something different. Been here a few times now. Recently came here on a busy Saturday during brunch time and was seated pretty fast. Got the Margherita pizza, Mac and cheese, and the pretzel burger which were very tasty. We saw the overall Yelp rating and wanted to try this place since when we visit Michigan, we typically go to the same places we find to be good and hoped to add this place to our list. The look of this place from outside made us almost walk away but since our goal was to try a different place, we went inside. The ambiance inside was just ok. As for the food, we thought the price of the burgers were a bit too high for what you get and for the caliber of this type of a restaurant. The portion size was small for the house salad I ordered and the onion soup had way too much onions and not enough broth. I think the issue is more me than them. Let's put that disclaimer out there first. We stopped in after shopping across the street. My stomach really needed a lighter fare, something in the healthier side. That's a ME thing not them. They don't really cater to that. Burgers, chips, wings and beer. That's their thing. The smoked wings were great flavored. my companion loved their burger. The place has a garage feel (hence the name) it was clean, a little loud but nothing over bearing. Was a bit underwhelmed by the place. The ambiance was cool, but truthfully, my #1 priority is food quality and I couldn't care less about the theme of a restaurant. If you're really into eating in funky spots w/ interesting themes and are a gearhead, I'm sure you love the place. For me it wasn't worth the upcharge they put on the menu prices. The burgers were good but not worth the $22 price point. You can go elsewhere and get just as good a burger for a lot less. You'll also probably get a legit side, not just potato chips. When you're charging over $20 for a burger, you shouldn't be nickel and dime-ing people to upgrade their side. The chips were tasty but again, not worth it. That to me was the theme of my experience. The food was good, nothing exceptional and certainly didn't justify the premium price. The one thing that was worth the money was the Tikka Fries, those were damn tasty. Burgers were not correctly served. Person that asked for no cheese asked for burger sauce on the side but theirs came with sauce on it but the burger with cheese was given the sauce on the side. Burgers themselves really didn't have any flavor. Besides the condiments on it. They are an over priced frozen patty. Fries were fresh cut, but soggy and super small. This place is a staple of Woodward and the Berkley/Royal Oak areas. It feels a lot like Ford's Garage before Ford's Garage since Vinsetta's was actually built in a former garage. It's definitely got that converted-industrial appeal, and the food is worthy of sticking around the neighborhood. Why four stars? First off, the parking situation is pretty terrible, but that's not exactly a secret if you're a local. Second, good luck walking in without a reservation on a weekend. We made our reservation online (a fairly easy and simple process) but COULD not book a table for Saturday night 2+ weeks out. We compromised a booked for a Friday night. By the tail end of our meal (8:00pm +), there were plenty of tables available, so if that's your window or just feel like walking in, this seemed like a good time to do it. My fiancé ordered the Shop Towel, and he really didn't like it at all and regretted his choice. His experience was closer to 3 stars from just a taste point of view. I ordered the Vinsetta Burger which was pretty good, but I could have settled for a simple cheeseburger. In all, this place is pretty good but not amazing from our experience. Had to ask for it multiple times after paying the bill, so we just stood there waiting for it for 45 min. We were in Royal Oak today and decided to try this out for lunch. The location is right off Woodward and the parking is a little tight, so definitely something to note for peak hours. The place is an old garage made into restaurant and it's very great atmosphere inside. My husband and I decided on the burgers. He did the Macon bacon burger, while I did the standard Vinsetta burger. Portions are very big. Come hungry. I like that the burgers were cooked well and flavorful. I had the fries, and my husband did the union mac, instead of chips. Both sides were great substitutions, but note they are an upcharge. Prices are a little higher but the portions definitely make it worth it. Next time I'd love to try the pizzas, and maybe not be so hungry that I forget to take pics of my food!
