This place was Wow!!!! We have been wanting to try this place for so long, but it never worked out until this weekend, and yes, we will be back with the rest of the fam! The people working here were so friendly and personable with literally everyone that walked in the door. The service was top notch. It is also the most adorable place giving vibes of Lamy's food counter at Henry Ford Museum. I loved all of the options on the menu and it was so hard just picking a couple items to try. We had chicken tacos. They were so good and so fresh, I loved the sauce on top. Honestly, I am not sure if it was cheese or a sour cream type mixture, but it was creamy and flavorful. I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. Oh man are we full! We went on a Sunday night at just before 6:30 and there was one table left. We quickly ordered and then a line appeared out of thin air behind us. We ordered a few different items between the four of us. There were two orders of tacos, two orders of cilantro potatoes, chilaquiles minus eggs, wings, and then Jamaica, piña, and sandia to drink. Everything was superb. Like really really good. We had two special requests (one food allergy and one strong dislike of eggs). They were so accommodating! I love OWL. I'm cheating a bit for this review as I'm combining many times eating here together. Smallish spot open late night with counter seating and a few tables. Wait times are almost always accurate and the place is always busy. The food here is great. The bacon cheeseburger is the best I've had. Double smash patty with sauce (mayo/aioli), pickles, cheese, and habanero bacon (the star). The bacon is the best I've had. Crispy every single time. Not too much heat, but you'll feel a little kick. This is what a cheeseburger should be. The patties are always smashed to perfection and I've never had the burger be soggy. The fries are the most suspect thing on the menu, but that can be overlooked by all of the other great food there. The nachos are always great with big portion sizes and the chili-cheese combo is so good. Adding the chicken is a pro move. The chicken burrito is also fantastic (add chili + cheese; thank me later) and the amount of chicken in there puts Chipotle to shame. It's a massive burrito that tastes superb. Finally, the chicken wings are great. I'm partial to the dry rub wings. They are seasoned beautifully and are a good size wing. All in all, you really can't go wrong here. read more

You place your order at the end to the far right. I tried the green juice and fried chicken sandwich. The juice was made with pineapple and spinach plus other greens. It's more tart than sweet but I liked how refreshing it was. I took a sip of the coffee and it was strong. The chicken sandwich was plain but made well. The buns were delightfully crispy yet soft and the chicken was not dry at all. It did have cream cheese in it which was pleasant. Wish they made it with a hot sauce or aioli to give it a boost of flavor. There is cholula at the counter top but I'm not a fan. Overall, impressed with the small place and would come back. I like OWL because they are open pretty late. The service is always fast. The chicken fried chicken is my favorite dish. The chicken is usually seasoned well and fried good. The potatoes are delicious and the poblano cheese sauce is the real star. The wings are also tasty. The parking is right in front. And it's diner counter style eating on the inside. All of my experiences have been decent until my last visit. I don't know what I was going on with the chicken but it wasn't chicken. It was not edible at all. I had to throw it away. They have a nice selection of more authentic Mexican dishes with fresh ingredients. I ordered the Chilaquiles and though my food tasted good, the chips were dry with just a little salsa underneath. Usually Chilaquiles are comprised of tortilla chips soaked in a salsa and topped with all sorts of things like beans, cheese, scrambled eggs, shredded chicken or beef, jalapenos, onions, cilantro, etc. and it is easier to eat with a fork, this was more like breakfast nachos with the sauce all on the bottom. The downside for me was that the place was filthy at the time we went. Granted we got there right at the tail end of a lunch rush, but the floors and tables were covered in remnants of prior guests' meals and it was kinda gross. read more

SO GOOD!!!! My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat that was open late, as we were out and about after a few drinks and we ended up here. I had suggested coney island, and my boyfriend said he wanted something better than coney island and said o.w.l. is similar feel. So, when we got there, I was expecting coney island quality food, but it was so much better than that. I got the chicken fried chicken and gravy, and the potatoes and the bread were so moist and amazing. And the gravy on the chicken was to die for. This is a fantastic spot for those late night cravings. And even though it was late, the place still got pretty full!
