Great selection of cool audio gear and albums. It's a fun place to browse. High end McIntosh components are available.

I recently started following them on Facebook, and love that they post almost daily updates on new vinyl coming into the shop, and will even put a 7 day hold on items they post if you request. Last week was my first time visiting, and although it's not a big shop, they've got it packed, and well organized, offering music sorted out by many different genres, and sub-organized within the genres in alphabetical order. Pricing varies, assuming based on amount of specific items in inventory, rarity, and condition. The staff was friendly, and welcoming, asking if there were specific items I was looking for. Great spot to have in town, but potentially financially dangerous for music lovers out there! Though it was my first time, I'm certain it won't be my last. Give them a like on a Facebook, and stop in to pick up some of your favorites.

Decent sized store. Needs a little work on the organizing though. Nice selection and prices are…read moreokay. Wasn't impressed by the employee though. Whenever I'm in a new area and find a new store, I ask about other stores in the area. I always ask after I've made my purchase to be respectful. He basically told me there weren't any in the area and the next best store would be his other Hippo record store an hour or so away. Google told me otherwise. There are at least two within a five minute drive that I found and both were incredible. (Buffalo Boogie and Remember When). And both of those stores named each other and Hippo when asked about other stores. Sorry. Pet peeve of mine. I won't return to this store but will happily go to his two competitors.

So the local CD / vinyl store is going the way of the Dodo, eh?!? Not if Winston's Earshot has…read moreanything to do with it. Formerly the Record Exchange, they shut down for remodeling, the interior is now cool blue that extends up to the ceiling, making the place seem airier; is nice. They still stock a passel of used CDs, DVDs, and some vinyl. Prices are a wee bit higher than some outlets, but it's local! I picked up the the latest Los Lobos, "Tin Can Trust." "Burn It Down" with Susan Tedesci on backing vocals is just what one loves about David Hidalgo and co., but I digress. A chat with the manager promised more stock in soon, so come on back and support a local vendor.

This is a brilliant little record shop…read more I recently got a record player and I'm looking to expand my record collection. There were lots of great record shops in Charlotte with new and old vinyls and I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to find anything like it here in Winston. I didn't want to shop at a chain store for records, even if they carried them, so I trusted yelp and found earshot! I hate the shopping center this place is in because it's so crowded during the day, but that doesn't really matter. I didn't expect it to be so close to my work, but it's close enough that I can make it there on my lunch break and be back within the hour. This is a good and bad thing. Good, because I now have an awesome record store with a great selection and helpful staff that's super close to me! Bad, because I will probably end up spending all my money here! I picked up an Explosions in the Sky album and In the Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. I am beyond stoked to listen to them, and they seemed to be in superb condition when I examined them. I had to stop myself from buying Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins because I'd already spent enough! They sell more than just records, but if you're a vinyl fiend like me, stepping into this shop is like stepping into the gates of heaven. As another reviewer said, they are a bit more expensive than amazon. This is true, but to me, when you add in shipping costs and the time you have to wait for your vinyl to be mailed, the extra few bucks is worth it. There's something magical about going to a record store, picking up some vinyls and being able to listen to them in the same day. Plus, buying vinyls on amazon doesn't help keep these awesome shops (mostly family owned) in business! The difference in cost compared to amazon is only $2-$5 if that.
