I went out to this remote location with some trepidation. I am a die-hard Erewhon fan, and I knew there was no way that vintage could compare despite its old Westie style facade and wonderful location. Instead of finding a hyper curated artistically focused Market like Erewhon, it felt more like the illegitimate child of Gelson's and Whole Foods. What was most disappointing was the prepared food section, which I thought would be at least something along the lines of Sun Life for something healthier. Instead again it felt much like a standard Market. I understand that they are coming to the Caruso project in the Palisades and all I can say is I'm disappointed. Hot fresh and delicious actually apply here. From the breakfast hot bar to the great selection of wine. Nothing here disappoints. Well except for the staff over 50 that looks at you suspiciously. I mean evil eye stuff. The parking lot is owned by Walmart and strange men knock on your car door to tell you no parking after 10 at 8:30. Creepy. Worst shopping experience ever. From the start felt unwelcome. The workers were unhelpful and rude. The cashier wouldn't want to take my debit card and when asked why, there response was "I had insufficient funds." What a classic example of Classism, and Racism all rolled into one. If you want to go grocery shopping with some Super Stars and their pets in Malibu, this is definitely they place to be. They offer fantastic selection of Rose' Wines and they offer strong "reusable wine bags". I love my bags and receive compliments on how nicely they are made. They offer a large selection of yummy freshly made Bakery items, Sandwiches and a fine Salad bar. The Poke' looked amazing, so I grabbed some to go with my Wine. I am going under an anonymous name, I am a former employee of Vintage Grocers. If you do wish to shop here, you should be aware of the ethical boundaries the company has crossed. I am here to say that the store abruptly closed on Westlake employees (Palisades, as well I've discovered) WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO EMPLOYEES. Many went into work the next day ready to work, only to be greeted by painted over windows and a sign saying to go on Paycom for more information on the closure. On Paycom, there was barely any information for us there. The Ventura county Star had more information on the closure and details about it than Vintages own employees did. This sudden turn of events put a massive strain on those who desperately need money to be able to afford bills necessary to living. The employees who depended on insurance as well, now have nothing and cannot afford treatment for their serious health issues. Big congrats to Paige Laurie! The partnership you've been planning for months sounds so exciting, but I suppose you have forgotten about the many people who relied on this job for living. That's completely unethical to not even bother to give information to employees, and telling the few people who knew to keep it a secret, keeping us all in the dark about what was happening to our store. I suppose when you're wealthy, that isn't something you would even consider doing. I would also love to give a shout out to the Human Resources worker! The word that you verbally abuse your own employees spread. Just because you said "good morning" to the group of people who showed up to the closed store ready to work, and one replies "it's not a GOOD morning" doesn't give you the right to scream at them saying "You don't get to talk to me like that, you don't pay my bills. If you have a question I'll give you answers but if you don't have any then you better MOVE ALONG and be on your way." I am saddened to hear that you have addressed very distraught people in such a way. Hope your guys' partnership goes well! You only had to sacrifice over a hundred employees in the process! read more

The highest quality best stocked grocery store I've ever been to in my life. The matcha in their lattes is Mitzuba the best matcha I have ever had in s latte (outside of home). Their prices For premium products like Cypress Grove goat cheese or fancy salts like Hepps 7 Fire smoked salt is sold at the same price as amazon and you don't have to pay for shipping . The service is 5 star as they do things like rotate their hot soups (even if container is 3/4 full) every couple hours do it's always fresh.. And you come outside to eat your prosciutto sandwich or pizza and smell the salt air. read more

This place is in an absolutely perfect location. It fits the beachy, summery vibe to a tee. It acts as a competitor to Whole Foods with its vast variety of fresh, natural, organic, vegetarian/vegan, paleo, and other dietary needs. There's a lot of made-to-order options as well, including pastries, sandwiches, salads, etc. They also have a nice selection of kombucha brands and flavors. I opted for a kombucha and an egg salad sandwich. The egg salad sandwich was delicious...perfect for a sunny summer day. The reason for four stars instead of five is the price. I'm an avid Aldi shopper, so it's hard to see items I could pay for less than 3/4 the price of many items (for the same quality) that are featured here. Other than the price, it's a great place for grabbing a quick snack before heading to the beach or doing groceries for a day or two. read more

All I can say is..Wow I am completely in love with this supermarket in Malibu! This is an upscale market with a fresh juice bar, buffet style food bar, deli, etc WITHOUT the pretentiousness of places like Whole Foods. The staff and shoppers are very down to earth and it's like shopping at a family operated business. What I particularly have to rave about is the hot food bar. I think I could get my lunch from there everyday. The selections are plentiful (They even have good Chinese food and gluten-free options) and a whole lotta variety of scrumptious and tempting cake/desserts. I got to try the fudge chocolate cake and it was out of this world! And a jumbo vegetarian burrito for only $5! I'm longing to try the much talked about Beachy Cream ice cream. Impressive selection for a smaller grocery store on Pacific Coast Highway, including a wide variety of prepared vegan options, and vegan specialty items and snacks. The best part is their smoothie/juice bar, where they have Acai smoothies for $6.50! Huge portion of perfectly prepared Acai-you must try one of these. Grocery and alcohol prices are high, but hey, this is Malibu, so I'm not sure one could expect anything else. Smoothie bar employees and cashiers are all very friendly and helpful. So this market is so perfect to grab food for the beach. Their sandwiches are yummy! There is so much good food that it's hard to just choose one thing. I got a create your own egg salad sandwich and it was huge! It comes with one side and it was more than enough food for two people. Popped in here to grab a quick lunch while at the beach, and couldn't get over how cute & great a selection this place had! The salad/food bar was super clean & had lots of great options. I settled on a great piece of salmon, that had a miso glaze and was served with brown rice & veggies. So great, and couldn't believe it was only $9! My friend is a vegetarian, so she made a yummy looking salad, full of fresh veggies and other treats. Would highly recommend this place and the market it's located in. I was Shocked SHOCKED to see good reviews for this place until I realized how many of the people work for or are related to people who work at this market. This is about 30 miles from our home but its near the beach we go to so we have stopped by twice. BOTH times we saw fleas in the store. This is your typical over priced Malibu grocery store. The produce is mealy, the prices are ridiculous, and the management seems like they are there auditioning for a bad movie rather than helping costumers. Warning! Poke with fish bones. First time to try their poke bar. Bought half pound salmon and tuna and found 4 fish bones inside salmon. With the price $15,99/lb I expected something better. Taste is mediocre. Also got a mini blueberry loaf, and it tastes delicious. I would give a five star for the loaf. read more

Fantastic store full of incredible products, and people! The energy in Vintage is palpable. Each employee seems equally as interested in the products and the customer's experience of shopping in a community-based store. Every customer seems just as happy to be shopping there as every employee working around the store ... and that alone is rare to find during any shopping experience, let alone at the grocery store. Even calling Vintage a "grocery store" almost limits what this place is. I love all of the locally sourced products available, freshly prepared meals, coffee bar, seafood, massive cheese section ... everything. Man what a great place to shop! Hidden just up the PCH near Zuma Beach, this eclectic little grocery store playcates that inner unique foodie who likes to have everything at our fingertips besides looking at a menu we want to go out and find it... but all at one place! There is a great little cheese and meat section and a better than Whole Foods general goods, for less. I mean if we're talking $ signs, with Whole Foods being $$$$ this place would be $$$, but thats at least 25% less for better goods! Albeit it's a little.... ok kinda a lot, out of the way, it's worth pulling over for a picnic at the stone and grass area next door or take it literally 100 meters (hey I work with a lot of International artists) to the beach across the street. This has become my happy place to come to; past Pepperdine, past Duke's, past all of those homes where people rent out for commercials - there's this place. Please go and support the Vintage Grocers! I always come here on my way to the beach. It's convenient but it is kind of on the pricey side. I go to the section where I can order my own sandwich with a side dish. It's about $8-$10 I believe, not too shabby. That's probably the only thing I can afford but hey it saves me from starvation. read more

So very sad...... Your Malibu store has become an extreme disappointment. What use to be My "go to" wonderfully supplied, courteous, clean, delightful neighborhood market has, over the last several months changed . Many of the staff are untrained , the take out area is hardly ever kept clean ( hours after the noontime rush?), there is rarely sushi and packed warm food past lunch hour, the shelves are not stocked in a neatly manner .....etc........! You charge your customers the same ( or higher) price points as Gelson's, and no longer compare to them....in Malibu. Your market in Westlake Village remains a " gem"..... and you offer so much more for the customers including specials, wine tasting and events.......which is curious to me. Cute little market on PCH in the Trancas Country Mart shopping plaza. This market is similar to a Mother's Market or very small Whole Foods...nice take out/Deli area with organic soups, tons of sandwiches and side salad options, salmon, veggies, pasta, and more. It is pretty pricey, but the service is great here and the food is tasty, so I didn't feel as if I were throwing away money. read more
