This a great place to get pizza. Its quite large, and has a older tavern type feel to it. There are a few video games in the vestibule to entertain kids while the parents eat. Plenty of parking. Be aware it gets very busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly. There is a large bar area with several TVs, and a fireplace in the back. They have both booths and tables, and another room in the back for larger groups. A decent selection of drinks, and they have always been good. The pizza here has always been outstanding. My favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. When my friend and I go, we eat two larges by ourselves! They have gluten-free options as well. I've had the wings, but they were so-so, and on the expensive side. They don't have tabasco sauce, so if you like adding that to your wings or pizza you are out of luck. Considering we've been here dozens of times and have never had a problem, this visit was disappointing. Our waitress was very good; attentive and friendly. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty so there was no wait. Even on school nights when we've been there in the past, it was still very busy. There was an open spot by the fireplace so we sat there, which is a plus. We got the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer because we usually like their wings. There were 9 tiny little wings with little sauce. The small amount of sauce that we did get didn't taste like buffalo sauce. This was $9. Definitely should be cheaper for a handful of minuscule wings and mystery sauce. Another thing was the fact that when I asked for a side of ranch. Really good thin crust pizza. Love the Mexican pizza and the margarita, and pretty much any other pizza I've had there . Never tried the pasta or other entrees. Service is good. Enjoyed eating here recently. It feels like home with the friendly service and sitting near the roaring fire on a cold day. The food is pretty good for the price with a very diverse menu so there is something for everyone. They also have a good selection of drinks. Indoor decor is on the rustic side, not the modern rustic style but more of an older log cabin feeling. read more

We had a horrible experience at Chimney Rock Gillette location. More than half of the restaurant was empty, so it was pretty clear they weren't busy on a Saturday night. Our food took over half an hour to arrive and when it arrived, everything was cold including french fries. I called a manager and they served us hot fries. Our server was nowhere to be found when we needed extra napkins or when we asked for the bill to pay so we could leave. Everything was take taking longer beyond an acceptable time limit. Absolutely, horrible customer service. It is understandable if the restaurant is busy, but not when it is empty. read more

There are too many good things to say about this place. It's a restaurant staple for the surrounding area. The food, service, decor and overall dining experience is unmatched in our area. I've gotten to know so many of the great people that work there through my good friend Nick Healy and I'm grateful for that. One of the managers, Seth, is simply the man. He's a consummate professional! Food and drinks are always great and I like how there are occassional changes / additions to the menu that usually strike popularity. Chimney Rock Inn is my go to resturant! When you first walk in, it feels cozy. The wait staff is always friendly, and nice. The Nachos are great, and the French fries are delicious! The Chop salads are a little.. sad, the lettuce is not very fresh, but their pizzas make up for that fault. The pizzas are amazing, and the pretzilla pizza is my favorite, I have it every time I come to Chimney Rock (a pretzilla is a pizza with a soft pretzel crust). We just had my husband's 60th birthday party there on a Saturday night and they did a fantastic job. We had a relative in a large wheelchair and they had set up our table (for 20) closest to the front door so it was easy to wheel them right in up to the table! We had one server who was AMAZING! Was really surprised because i had heard they had gluten free pizza but turns out almost anything on the menu can be made gluten free. I was very disappointed. Chimney Rock Inn used to have excellent beef nachos supreme so when I went there last night I was looking forward to having them as a meal like I did many times in the past. They will only cook burgers Medium or better so be warned if your looking for that juicy medium rare,, it's not happening! Last 2 sandwiches, Brisket & last night the corned Beef sandwich special (NO cole slaw) just scraps of cabbage & those cheap tortilla chips because they don't serve potato chips. Sandwiches are skimpy with an abundance of fat rye bread to hide the fact they hardly put any meat on their sandwiches. For some reason the parking lot always looks packed. Once you enter though, the place isn't as busy as you expected. Once you sit down they hand you an extensive menu that looks like a newspaper. I have been here numerous times. I have had the pizza (very good and much better than the other location), burgers (good), wings (eh), nachos (average) and chicken wrap (not good). If you sit at the bar, the bartenders are attentive and friendly. It's a small bar with limited seating and a few TV's to watch the games. When you sit at tables, there are TV's just for the dining area. The service is usually good. The prices are reasonable. Getting back to the food. I recommend the pizza and splurge the extra buck to get the larger pie. Any leftovers you can always bring home. I went with a bunch of friends and pretty much tried them all. The chorizo one is very good. Meatball, eh. The rest are good. Burgers are decent size and taste good. Wings are dry and the chicken wrap wasn't good. It lacked flavor. read more

This is a nice old fashioned family spot-- I went for a girls night out (I should mention that we are very low key) and it fit the bill perfectly. Prices are reasonable, the food was fine and good value. We both had the planked salmon. The glaze was terrific. My friend had the gluten free option and liked the penne just fine. Revisted this place over the weekend again in Gillette. I'll still keep the same review as 3 stars... I had French onion soup- for a litle over 4 dollars for that pretty small crock it wasnt very good. I will certainly pass on that the next time for sure. Staying at the embassy suites in Berkeley, NJ for a wedding. Went to dinner at chimney rock inn just up the road in Gillette. Food was good and a huge variety but service was even better. We went to Chimney Rock for our rehearsal dinner right after rehearsing for our wedding at the Little Flower church. From the initial inquiries to the day-of, Chimney Rock staff were nothing but super accommodating and easy to work with. They were extremely responsive with all questions we had, very organized, and super helpful in putting our seating vision together. We were in the Middle Room and had about 40 people- the space was perfect. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the price point was super reasonable. You can't find a better place in Berkeley Heights for this size party on a Friday night - in fact we did our homework and shopped around and Chimney Rock was the only restaurant that not only accommodated but was genuinely excited to with open arms. They are used to hosting these types of parties and everything was super professional and absolutely seamless. We loved the menu options. It also meant so much to me to be able to have such a special dinner at a place I grew up going to with my family. Cannot recommend the Rock enough!! read more

Visiting from Nevada and NJ family took us here for something different. Nice roadhouse atmosphere. Very busy so we sat at the bar. The hostess and bartender were very nice inspite of the noise and crowd. Paula recommended the chicken pot pie and I am sure game for that. When it came I wasn't disappointed. When I forked it the crust sighed and collapsed in a flaky heap releasing a cloud of steam. Inside was a yummy, hot chicken, veggie and gravy mixture that sure went well with my beer. Very inexpensive place to have a party. All family style and they have a separate room upstairs for private parties. Sit down has nice menu. The pizza is really good, my favorite is the Margarita Rosa with vodka sauce. It's usually busy so call ahead, the service has always been good each time. Comfort food. The pizza is the best thin crust you can find. They used to have a delicious white clam pizza. Not on menu any longer. Salads aren't great. Stick to your typical fried food here. For a family or group of people it is a good place to go. It is loud but relaxed. Lots of choices on the menu. Food is fine for the type of restaurant it is. Service can be very slow at times. Servers try to memorize orders instead of writing it down which led to several mistakes on our food. Overall good portions and decent prices. read more

The food is your average American comfort food but it's really not that great. Very large portions. I've been here a couple of times with older folks who are 70+, and it tends to draw that type of crowd. The staff is friendly however they are terrible when it comes to refilling your water glasses. The french fries taste like they're from six flags. Apparently this place is recommend by trip advisor but I, on the other hand, would never recommend it to anyone. read more
