I was charged for the tin that your food comes with and charged for take out service as well. I ordered buffalo wings. I came home and looked at my order. The wings were burnt. No actual buffalo wings sauce in it. It was dry. No blue cheese, no carrots or celery. The picture below is actually how I received it. Nothing Else. Everything else we ordered was very greasy, even the wraps for thier un tasty tacos. Expect to make your own tacos too. but for thr wraps to be drentched in grease is odd. We loved this place. Frequented for years. Rushed to have lunch when got email about Octoberfest. Couldn't wait to have the chicken schnitzel. Was greeted by a dour waitress/ bartender whose greeting was "no substitutions anymore". Okay. Ordered the chicken schnitzel. No more potato pancakes, no more red cabbage, just a very average (at best) breaded chicken breast with some bland potatoes. What a disappointment! Had a beer that was flat also. Please fix this! I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of gluten-free options chimney rock has to offer. I ordered takeout for Super Bowl Sunday and they were able to accommodate all of our requests. Their curbside is very efficient. Just make sure you're going to the correct location when you go to pick up your order. We ordered the gluten-free buffalo chicken pizza a gluten-free buffalo chicken salad and their gluten-free buffalo wings. Each item was really good! The pizza is on the smaller side more of a personal size. It was able to mean teen a real pizza taste even though the crust was gluten-free. The Buffalo chicken salads were also really yummy. I particularly enjoyed their buffalo sauce. Their gluten-free wings were different than a traditional wings but really tasty nonetheless they weren't dry but they didn't necessarily come dripping in sauce. This place has a great gluten free pizza! For those who have gluten sensitivity I would have to say so far hands down this is the best non frozen pizza I have had yet! I have ordered it twice so far and I have not felt sick. So when I'm out of frozen pizza and would like something cooked up fresh this will be my new go to. This used to be one of our favorite go-to's. My favorite was the Mayan Chipotle and the veggie chili. When it changed over from Chimney Rock the original owner's care was clearly lost. Best servers left soon after the changeover. Veggie chili, gone. They're now taking shortcuts all over the menu. I got my favorite Mayan chipotle twice recently. The first time I thought was a fluke because it was doused in bbq sauce. I HATE bbq sauce--it makes me sick. Tonight, my husband picked up dinner for us after I had a long day and we have no food in the house. Came home and I could smell the bbq sauce immediately after I opened the meal. He called to ask what is going on and the manager explained that instead of infusing it with chipotle like they used to they now put bbq sauce on it. Disgusting. I'm done. Ordered a takeout "Whopper" pizza two weeks ago; it was pretty good. Ordered another the following week. It was underdone, with cheese barely melted -- seriously bland-tasting. Seemed like we might have been eating cardboard without much flavor added. With extra cheese, onions, and peppers, the bill was $33.80 after tax. Wife and I were hungry, so we had a few slices each before sending the rest to the trash. I've never, ever, in my long life had a pizza so disappointing that I threw the rest away after trying it -- and I've had Domino's. I emailed Chimney Rock about this experience, and they replied -- with an expression of their dismay and promise to have a discussion with staff. I find that response, since more than half of what I spent went into the trash, too little. If you like the thrill of taking chances, maybe you'll get a good pizza from them. Let's first say that my family and I love Chimney Rock in Bridgewater and Flemington. Never have we been to this location until today. We were in the area. We came in at 535ish and asked for a table for 4. We were told by the girl at the counter that it would be 15 minutes, which didn't make sense. We looked in the dining area and there were several booths open. Whatever. So we get seated about 15 minutes later and not one person comes to our table for another 15 minutes. So we walked out and went elsewhere. Not sure what the issue was but apparently no one came to Chimney Rock that day to work. Let just assume they were short staffed, whatever, but at least come to the table and say "I'll be right with you." read more

Everything is pricy except for the pizza. Three ground beef tacos, no rice or side. $12.00. Not much bigger than taco bell. And they charge a credit card surcharge. My bill was for $40...plus surcharge. Tacky. If you're a small fast food take-out place, I get it. Decent food, nice casual atmosphere, and attentive staff. But the 4 stars are for having actual, real vegan options available. I'm so grateful that restaurants in the suburbs are changing their menus to offer satiating plant-based entrees. They even have a vegan menu, which they'll give you upon request and includes dishes like pizza with non-dairy cheese, delicious chili, a fajita bowl, vegan ice cream (!!) etc. My main suggestions/pleas for further improvement are: - Add a vegan section to the primary menu instead of having a separate one. People who aren't entirely plant based are still interested in eating healthier, more climate friendly meals! - Make the black bean burger on the main menu vegan. It's currently made with egg. My logic is, if you make an entree vegetarian, just go the whole mile and make it vegan :) - Offer Beyond burgers (cooked on a separate part of the grill, pls) as a swap for any of the meat burgers - The vegetables could use more flavor. - It would be amazing if plastic straws were provided only upon request. We've been coming here for years, unlike the BW location haven't had to wait to be seated. Even with the name change it pretty much is still Chimney Rock, (maybe they changed the name is to get more people to come in who may think it's a new place not just a rebranded CR). Like that they changed the bar area, removing the center booths, makes it more open. Food is still good, love their French Onion soup, but like last reviewer we just stopped Infor the Octoberfest specials and had the Chicken Schnitzel, I forgot about the potato pancakes being replaced (small potatoes, weren't bad, nice and hot), but wondered why red cabbage was missing. Oh and they give you a small cup (if you can call it that) of the lemon/ butter sauce. What I like the best is the food is always hot, not like another "Tavern" we used to go to where the food comes out lukewarm at best. Oh! And best of all they replaced the elbow pad covering at the bar! So won't have to see pictures posted of the old crappy one. Last, staff is always friendly and very accommodating. read more

Have heard great things about their pizza...they have frozen pizza for purchase when you enter...they tout their famous thin crust pizza all over their menu. Unfortunately I now think less of anyone who said this was good pizza. It is floppy, and surprisingly tasteless. It looks very zesty but surprising lack of flavor. Looking at some of the plates others were eating on the way in, it did not look appetizing. Not many people there on a Saturday at 12:30. And for some reason they sat our party and another next to basically the only other people there. Seems weird to do that normally...much moreso in these times. Will not be back. Ate here with my boyfriend, and can say that I will not be returning anytime soon. We have relatives in the area that we frequently visit, so we all came for dinner a few weeks ago. Our waiter was a "cocky" guy who took our order by sitting "backwards" on a chair, facing us. A bit presumptuous" (although, doubt he knows what that means). The food was very bland. Worst onion soup I have had in quite some time and burger not so tasty. My dish needed to go back for some temperature correction, but the waiter never returned to ask how things were. Finally, I went up to the bar, where I saw him standing, only to find him ...yes, you guessed it, on his cell phone texting, happily, away. We just had our son's first birthday at Chimney Rock. I've thrown many parties in the area and in NY and this was, by far, the best experience we have ever had. Liz, the party coordinator, was amazing. She was always prompt, organized and thorough throughout our planning process. The day of, everything was set up exactly as planned and we were allowed to go before the restaurant opened to set up the decor. When the party started, they brought out food at the perfect time- we didn't feel rushed or like we were waiting forever. The food here is delicious. We got pizzas for the table- a huge hit- as well as family style entrees. The price is a steal for what you get. The waitstaff was incredible. They were attentive and so friendly. Anything we needed, they gave us. They were also allergy friendly and accommodated our friends with food allergies with no issue. Planning a party is difficult enough. This was the first time I wasn't stressed when I got there because Chimney Rock made everything go smoothly. I definitely recommend Chimney Rock- whether you want to throw a great party that doesn't break the bank or you want a great, casual place to eat with family and friends. I like the variety of pizza offered, especially vegan for those of us who cannot tolerate dairy. The food on their menu should be relatively simple to create. We went with friends for lunch, and I rarely treat myself to a burger, but thought it would be good here I was wrong. Ordering medium rare and getting well well done until it had no taste is unacceptable. I'm happy to update my review of Chimney Rock after another visit and give them 5 stars! We went for dinner tonight and the Oktoberfest menu was soooo on point! The spätzle Mac and cheese, the warm whole wheat pretzel/beer cheese soup and the chicken schnitzel were all incredibly tasty. I wish they could keep these items on their menu all the time! Even though it was a busy Friday night, the service was impeccable - our server was always in view and brought refills immediately and checked in a number of times. Chimney rock has great super thin crust pizza! I've been coming here for about a year now since i moved away from the Hoboken area. On a weekend night there will almost certainly be a wait. Usually it's just me and my boyfriend so we can snag two bar stools and escape the waiting list. So if your party is small check the bar area first! The decor in chimney rock is a little old, they have a dusty "autumn leaves" garland around the bar all year. It feels like a cozy country style lodge. The service is a little slow here as well so this is not a good choice if you want to grab a quick dinner. I keep coming back because i am SOO in love with their thin crust pizza. The crust is crunchy like a cracker and the rest of the pie is light and thin. I could eat an entire pie and still want more food. Also you HAVE to order the rock fries appetizer. It is the best plate of cheese fries in the world. And it comes with this tangy southwest dipping sauce that i could put on everything. The beer is very reasonably priced too so you can come here share a pizza an app and have a few drinks and not break the bank! The four star rating definitely comes 100% from the food. read more

The Chimney Rock Inn is very much a local place to come. It's been around for over 30 years. Its a very casual, comfortable place with a feeling of being in a lodge. It's got that old world feel. There is a large fireplace at one corner of the room. Above it all types of old fishing and collectibles. They have booths on one side, tables on the other. There is a separate room for parties, or like our group you can have 2 very large and long tables set up near the fireplace. The dining menu is Italian, and tavern like food. Their pizza is thin crust and pretty good. The crust seems different then I remembered. I like their Mediterranean style pesto pizza with chopped tomatoes, red onions, Kalamata olives, and garlic.i also like their Mushroom pizza. Our group tried at least 6 different pies. You can order anything from your typical mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers , wings, cheese steaks, quesadillas to pasta, chicken parmigiana, or cedar plank salmon. Their salads are equally good. I like the Apple Grove Salad. It has spring mix w/ granny Smith apples, craisins, caramelized onions, toasted almonds & gorgonzola cheese tossed in fat free raspberry vinaigrette. It's a winner. You can add chicken or shrimp for an extra fee. They have burger too. My only issue with that is you can't specify how you want it cooked. I prefer my med-rare and was told all burgers are cooked to medium.That's too well done for my liking so for that reason I'm giving them 3 stars. If ur gonna serve burgers u must let the customer choose how they like it cooked. I saw other reviews mention consistency here. I've never had a bad meal and I've been here many times. It can get really,really busy and there will be lines...especially if there's specials like pizza night. The service at CRI is always good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I was recently here for a graduation party and I never had to ask for anything. There were pitchers of beer, wine, and soda on the table a long with lemon sliced ice water. The Chimney Rock Inn has a long bar and they offer a choice of draft ,imported or craft beers along with mixed drinks. We started off with pizza for an appetizer. Well, I was with a large group who ate a lot. Each section of the table we must of had eight pizzas per section to start. It's thin crust pizza so u can eat a lot more. That sounds like a lot but with hungry teenage boys they can eat and eat if u know what I mean! We had a printed menu with 6 choices. I chose the Cedar plank salmon with angel hair pasta tossed with sautéed spinach and tomatoes and garlic in oil. It was very good my salmon was cooked perfectly and not overdone. CRI also has gluten free choices and there's quite a few to choose from. We then went on to the dessert which was a large graduation/ birthday cake and coffee. By this time I was feeling comatose. I wanted to order a bottle of wine, but they don't sell wine by the bottle, only buy the glass, half liter, or a full liter, and there were no prices. The waitress, who was wonderful, went in the back to get the price for us. She told us how much a glass of wine from each selection would cost and for a full liter just multiply that by four. Really? I don't know this for sure but I think it was boxed wine. They also decided to play music and the speaker was just above our head, blasting Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, who I happen to like, but had a hard time hearing each other speak. Friends threw a retirement party for me there - outstanding!! Only issue with Flemington is it is too noisy inside, need to do something with sound absorption. Put carpeting down during covid but still too loud to speak pleasantly with people at your table. Gillette - atmosphere not nearly what Bridgewater is. The other menu offerings that I had a chance to taste were decent and tasty, always fresh and hot. Oh wait. Some years ago they had a iceberg wedge with blue cheese, bacon etc and that was outstanding. Sadly, first the classic and classy iceberg wedge disappeared from the menu and recently they change the source of their famous pomme frites. The originals were delicately crispy and light with comfortingly soft interior. The new ones lay on the plate like dead potato trunks; sad and unloved for their lack of yumminess and identity. Interestingly or sadly, the best stuff on the menu always has a tendency to disappear. When it comes to staff: always friendly, helpful and polite. However, they always trying to find excuses when asked for pepper-mill(usually saying "don't have one" but is it even possible? ;)).
