The other two were good, but the clear victor of the three was the fish. Good music, good service, good food and the prices were reasonable. I had chips and salsa, the salsa was good but the chips were thick and I like the thinner chips. I also ordered fish tacos and they were very good, crisp whitefish with a very tasty red slaw. Street corn nachos, build your own queso or guacamole is where I'd start. Entree wise, chicken citrus bowl is a bit spicy, not too big and I love the added tobacco onions. As far as tacos, they are al a carte and quite small so you can order 3 and easily be satisfied. "If I could of given zero stars I would of." I was treated so rudely by the assistant manager (who I never asked for- I simply sent a cold burrito back with a tiny bite taken out of it) "Dennis" brought my burrito back to me and proceeded to argue with me about it...instead of just warming it up or remaking it. We did NOT expect to find this gem on our road trip through North Dakota! We stopped in Fargo expecting a small town feel and okay food, but were awe struck by delicious food with an eye opening atmosphere. The entire restaurant/bar was SO colorful and unique!!! This place fits right in with downtown Fargo and is a good addition to get small plates late at night. The menu is fairly limited to maybe a dozen taco types and several appetizers, but everything is very fresh and presented well. The tacos are all soft-shell and small (and the price is too) so its easy to try different types in one sitting. The bar is full service featuring a wide range of tequilas. There are a few taps and several bottled beers. Overall, its a great place to spend some time while eating small portions. Not really a 'dining' destination as opposed to a place to hang out with friends. I love Vinyl Taco. It's so good! I tried the chimichanga. It comes with this amazing sauce that strangely tastes like chicken tikka masala, lol. All the tacos I tried were great and pleasing to the eye. I liked the chicken and mango because it was crispy chicken, and I've never had a taco like that. The shrimp a la parilla (I think it was called that) was my favorite taco. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor to it which went really well with the avocado sauce. The only reason Vinyl Taco gets this many stars from me is one thing: the margaritas. They are truly the best I've ever had, the star of the menu! They're so fresh and delicious and perfectly mixed. The fresh sprig of rosemary adds the perfect touch and flavor. I came to Vinyl Taco with my brother and my husband. They have nothing vegan, so my brother couldn't eat, but he loved the margaritas. So did my husband. I tried the vegetarian taco, thinking it sounded so amazing. Nope. Packaged tortilla you can find at walmart (my tip: make them home made, it will put them over the top) and mediocre toppings that were so "juicy" that it got all over everything despite my best efforts. Way too many napkins had to be used for a food that is supposed to be portable. Not worth it. Also ridiculously spicy at random bites. For a place with "taco" in the name they just didn't do it well. It was a Saturday evening and of course the place was packed. And so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves yelling to each other right in each other's faces. My ears were ringing long after we left. I felt very bad for the staff - they were clearly understaffed and the poor bartenders and waitresses were flying around the over-packed room. (And dealing with some very obnoxious people.) Which resulted in us getting mostly ignored - bad service. But we totally understood, it's not the staff's fault. They needed at least one or two more people helping out. Honestly, for tacos and atmosphere this place is ridiculously overrated. But for margaritas? Go there for the margaritas. Best I've ever had. So incredible. This place definitely does not deserve as many stars as it has been given. One word for the food, dry. The steak fajitas though the flavor was decent, the meat was over cooked. The pork belly was dry even with the sauce that came with it. Honestly, the tacos seemed to be made by some amateur cook. A flour tortilla that wasn't warm and was store bought. And when I ordered the enchiladas, i should have known that it wasn't going to be good when he said they were pre-rolled. I just wanted a cheese enchilada but they aren't available because all of them are pre rolled. And it's enchiladas but there wasn't even enough sauce to cover the enchiladas. The rice that came with it tasted like it was boxed. The margarita, forget about it. The sour mix was horrible and I regret ordering the 16 oz. I've been to Vinyl Taco several times and I dig this place. Every taco I've tried has been outstanding. I really enjoyed the crunchy fish taco, as well as the chicken & mango taco. The guac with the chips are great. The chicken tortilla soup is good as well and comes with a nice amount of chips on the side. While I've read some reviews comment on the prices being high, I actually don't think they are too bad considering the quality and ambience. This isn't a fast food taco joint. Far from it. read more
