If you're looking for a great bar with great food and the best classic rock being played on vinyl then this is your place! The Vinyl Taco is a super trendy bar with delicious Mexican cuisine and drinks (don't be afraid to treat any of their signature tequila cocktails) and the ambiance is fantastic with all of the music being played from right behind the bar on vinyl! Very nice place. Good drinks, good food, and good music! We had chips and salsa (homemade chips!), a couple tacos, and the chicken enchilada with queso. The drinks were really good and unique. I wish I was local so I could come back and try more things. read more

In a world that has gone mad, this place is an oasis of friendly service and old fashioned prices. I'm not going to say it's the most flawless Mexican food, but it's plenty good. It's not the most impeccable vibe, but it's fun. It's what you need when passing through the northern Midwest. In particular thier $9 16oz margarita makes it seem like everyone else else is doing it wrong - instead of an overpriced drink that's mostly ice, this place gives you an empty glass of ice, lime and salt with an honest 16oz of margarita on the side. I'm not sold on the vinyl theme (what does it have to do with tacos? why is the menu on a record sleeve?) but these folks have great margaritas. I love every flavor, but the classic is hard to beat. Also a decent beer selection. And during the summer months, the outdoor seating is a plus. The chips are really good, and will be hard to stop eating, especially if you get them with the guac, which always tastes fresh. For the vegans, the veggie tacos without any dairy are tasty and filling. Overall, good for a drink date or a casual lunch. One flag is that it's primarily a bar, so you have to be 21+ to be on the premises. read more

Today was only the second time I had been to Vinyl Taco, and it was better than the first. I wasn't sure what to order, but the bartender, Megan, was kind and helpful and gave me some suggestions. I ended up ordering a fish taco, the mango chicken taco and a fajita chicken taco. I was most impressed by the fish taco, I myself am not usually a fan, but this one was great. The other two were good, but the clear victor of the three was the fish. If you're looking to spice it up a notch, be sure to ask for the habanero salsa, it's delicious, but be careful, it has a kick. The is a great place to dine, good food and a great drink selection, with Mexican beers on tap on a wide variety of tequilas. A warm and cozy spot with eclectic decor. read more

I live in the Denver/Boulder are so new sort of trendy restaurants are commonplace for me. I love Vinyl Taco and I really enjoyed my experience. Good music, good service, good food and the prices were reasonable. I had chips and salsa, the salsa was good but the chips were thick and I like the thinner chips. I also ordered fish tacos and they were very good, crisp whitefish with a very tasty red slaw. The atmosphere at Vinyl Taco is so comfortable and the people who work there are very friendly and aim to please. Then they spin vinyl of old rock and that just makes you want to hang out and enjoy. I love this place. read more

I have been here many times and the last time the server was incredibly rude to my family. When complaints were brought to management they gave excuses and said we were wrong. They made my sister cry in the restaurant and the server pushed her and shorted change. Don't complain about this place or else they will frame you as a lier. read more

Normally the food here is pretty darn good but sometimes the staff whatever they put in to the energy that they're having during the day that they're when they're there it really affects the flavor of the food and the atmosphere people just don't want to say that a person is being royal jerk so they just decide to leave personally I think that some staff need an attitude adjustment so that they can be able to serve good food with a good attitude read more

The margaritas, can we talk about these? Holy shit you guys, GREAT margs, great Mexican beer selection, great tequila selection. As far as food goes, where do I start? Street corn nachos, build your own queso or guacamole is where I'd start. Entree wise, chicken citrus bowl is a bit spicy, not too big and I love the added tobacco onions. As far as tacos, they are al a carte and quite small so you can order 3 and easily be satisfied. Steak or chicken fajita, crispy fish, and crispy chicken and mango are some of my favs. Be sure to get there early enough on the weekends as there is not much seating, but you won't want to miss it. read more

Great atmosphere- I really enjoyed the crispy chicken taco. It had flavors of crunchy salty savory and a hint of sweetness. The Barbacoa was great too but only think I can say bad about it was the temperature of the beef was cold and also I prefer corn tortillas. read more

Vinyl Taco is a funky little restaurant. The decor was quirky and artsy. Bellying up to the bar, you will understand the restaurant name. They have 2 turntables taking turns entertaining the patrons. I ordered the Chicken Citrus specialty bowl. It was very tasty and the right amount of food. The margarita and customer service were fantastic as well. Highly recommend! read more

"If I could of given zero stars I would of." I was treated so rudely by the assistant manager (who I never asked for- I simply sent a cold burrito back with a tiny bite taken out of it) "Dennis" brought my burrito back to me and proceeded to argue with me about it...instead of just warming it up or remaking it. Really? Like it was a filet mignon or something....lol. The server did have something to do with him coming over, I'm sure, but she even apologized profusely for his out of line behavior- and when I tried to call the general manager to call his attention to Dennis's behavior he wouldn't take my call or call me back. This place sucks. It has cold food and rude employees. I should of told him what he could do with his cold burrito. read more

This place is just great! I was in Fargo for three days and ate there two times.It has a great funky vibe, if you like classic rock you'll love this place. Nothing but cool. I arrived at this place right when $2 margaritas was starting. Therefore, it took us a while to get our food ordered. Also, there were people sitting around the bar top that got seated after us and their food got put in before my boyfriend and I did. When the food finally came out it was delicious! Although, even though we came in when it was busy it took them a while to take our order and we didn't feel welcomed right away. read more

We did NOT expect to find this gem on our road trip through North Dakota! We stopped in Fargo expecting a small town feel and okay food, but were awe struck by delicious food with an eye opening atmosphere. The entire restaurant/bar was SO colorful and unique!!! The food, our beef enchilada and shrimp/lime chicken tacos, was the perfect amount of spicy and super flavorful. Service was super friendly and laid back. I hope to stop by again in Fargo simply because of the quality of this place! read more

Ate my food too fast for pictures. Crispy chicken Mango 9.3/10 - sweet onion vinegrette made it amazing. Pork belly 7.5/10 - the sauce it comes with it good. The cabbage and pork was above average. Buffalo chicken 9.5/10 - buff cxn dip made into a taco. What more needs to be said? Tradition queso dip favor 8.3/10 - great flavor, not spicy. All you can eat homemade chips were bomb. We just had the worst service possible at Vinyl Taco. It was busy but not all the tables were filled but still no excuse for a server to be rude. We waited 30 minutes from the time we ordered to ask her about our food. She said they were working on it. Waited another few minutes and asked again. She said it's being worked on. I asked what was taking so long. The server said that with how busy they were it takes a while. I said "for tacos"? She rudely said they are made fresh! We paid for the queso and coke that had been ordered and received prior to ordering our tacos. As we were leaving the server brought our tacos out. I said we were not staying. She did not apologize for the lateness of our food or how rude she acted. It was overall a horrible experience and won't be coming back. Busy or not rude behavior is not acceptable! read more

This place fits right in with downtown Fargo and is a good addition to get small plates late at night. The menu is fairly limited to maybe a dozen taco types and several appetizers, but everything is very fresh and presented well. The tacos are all soft-shell and small (and the price is too) so its easy to try different types in one sitting. The bar is full service featuring a wide range of tequilas. There are a few taps and several bottled beers. Overall, its a great place to spend some time while eating small portions. Not really a 'dining' destination as opposed to a place to hang out with friends. I'm giving it 5 stars not because it is a 5 star "fine" dining experience, but because it has character, is fun, knows its place and handles it very well. Plus the food tastes great. read more

You should know I am from California. Feel free to poke fun at me when talking about winter but when talking about Tacos, spice, and Mexican food, trust me, I know what I'm talking about. The fish tacos here are near perfect. The spicy chicken tacos are actually spicy, a Fargo-Moorhead first for me. The Tortilla soup is some of the best I've ever had and the margaritas are decent. A little on the sweet side, but they are yummy and not too strong. Prices are decent and they get bonus points for having a Goslings Ginger Beer, go Bermuda! Better if they also had Goslings Rum. I asked. They don't. They have a spice indicator on their menu. Believe it. A 2 is recognizably spicy to me. A three is nearly perfect spice. read more

I love Vinyl Taco. It's so good! I tried the chimichanga. It comes with this amazing sauce that strangely tastes like chicken tikka masala, lol. All the tacos I tried were great and pleasing to the eye. I liked the chicken and mango because it was crispy chicken, and I've never had a taco like that. The shrimp a la parilla (I think it was called that) was my favorite taco. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor to it which went really well with the avocado sauce. Chips and guac were also good, as well as the margaritas. Everyone needs to go here! read more

Vinyl Taco was great! Their atmosphere was really fun, and they played great music. I like that their menus were shaped like vinyls. We started with chips and queso, the chips were warm and tasted fresh. I got the cilantro lime chicken taco with Mexican red rice and a margarita. The taco was tasty and priced right. Their margaritas are made in house and are just fantastic. I could've done without the rice, it was meh. My fiancé had a bowl, which he really enjoyed. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Normally I love coming to vinyl taco, however last night some of the food our group received wasn't all that great and for the price and proportion of the food you receive you would expect a lot more food. I did try something new for myself and that was the Fish Tacos...normally I'd turn my nose up at fish tacos as for it is a combination that just doesn't sit well with me. If you are like me and skeptical about things like fish tacos give vinyl tacos a try it may just changes your mind. It did for me, however if you are super hungry I suggest going somewhere else as for the size and price's don't add up in my book. read more

MY FAVORITE TACO SPOT EVER!!!! and wait for it... wait for it... I'm from Texas. So I've had all the amazing Mexican food in the world yet I fantasize about the Mango Chicken Tacos at Vinyl Taco. What is their secret?!? Drooool. It's the main reason we drive 4 hours to visit the town of Fargo. I love the environment - no doubt there will be great music playing, bar TVs always showing good movies with closed captioning at the bar that I get distracted by- oops! drinks are tasty, guac is FANTASTIC, chips taste fresh and homemade - none of that Tostitos bullsh*t. I've been to Vinyl Taco several times and I dig this place. Every taco I've tried has been outstanding. I really enjoyed the crunchy fish taco, as well as the chicken & mango taco. The guac with the chips are great. The chicken tortilla soup is good as well and comes with a nice amount of chips on the side. While I've read some reviews comment on the prices being high, I actually don't think they are too bad considering the quality and ambience. This isn't a fast food taco joint. Far from it. read more

Good food, friendly staff, fun environment. They need a lot more seating, it's always busy and super cramped inside. The booths are not comfortable either so don't plan on sitting for long. I had the enchiladas and they were some of the best I have ever had. read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican, this is not the place. This is Americanized Mexican. They do their dishes a little bit different but they're not exceptional. The tacos came with taco shells that were cold, The chips were overly salty (and I ordered a second bunch) and I drink I ordered for the bar was *meh*. I wouldn't suggest this place unless you're coming with the group and you're not really interested in food. read more

I rolled in here shortly after 11 AM to enjoy some tacos for lunch and was shocked that I was ID'd as soon as I entered. This place seems to place as much or more emphasis on the alcohol than the food. As soon as I sat down my sever asked if she could get me something to drink and informed me that it was "Margarita Monday." I resisted and asked for a glass of water. Then I saw they had 5 oz margaritas for only $2. And they had a Strawberry Margarita. So I caved. And it was worth it. A chalkboard in the back of the restaurant listed the huge offering of whiskey, bourbon and tequila. Foodwise, I ended up going with two tacos and an appetizer of chips and salsa. While chips seem simple enough, these were actually really really amazing, possibly the best tortilla chips I've ordered. They were obviously homemade, were extra thick and extra crispy. The salsa was also very good and had a nice kick. Of my two tacos, I much preferred the veggie over the pastor. The veggie was too big to wrap into one taco, so I ate half with a fork before being able to roll it up. It was such a nice combo of textures, with the grilled queso fresco, black beans, corn, avocado and other stuff I can't remember. The pastor was less inspiring. The pork was served minced like bbq and wasn't at all like the tender, flavorful pork chunks that come on the pastor tacos I order at my hometown taco place. It wasn't bad though. The atmosphere was fun. Nice big bar in the middle of the restaurant. Industrial-style decor with brick walls and dim lighting. And a Pink Floyd wall. read more

With both a street fair and the Bison game happening that same day, management should have expected that level of business and staffed accordingly. It wasn't our fault they were understaffed, and taking that frustration out on guests is a terrible way to make an impression on out-of-towners or locals alike!

The bartender said we could sit anywhere we wanted to, so we chose a booth on the right side of the dining room right next to a gorgeous mural that covered the wall from floor to ceiling. It was a multi-media piece, with paint, bits of metal and glass, and all sorts of material. The next thing we admired was their deep, deep menu. Many of the listings had Irish accents like Emerald Island Dip, Irish Nachos, Mussels Malone, Pound O'sheamus Fries, Wings O'Malley, Belfast Barnyard, Blarney Dip, Emerald Chicken, Fibbers Fish Sandwich, Irish BLT, Donaldson Burger, Dubliner, Hot Headed Irishman, Smokie O'Leary, Black and Tan Sirloin, Fibber Flanagan's Fish and Chips, Guinness Irish Stew, Kilkenny Cod. And those don't include Corned Beef and Creamed Cabbage and Shephard's Pie! We ordered a Guinness ($7.75), an IPA ($7.75), a Margarita ($7.99), a Strawberry Pecan Salad ($18.99), a Classis Pub Cheeseburger ($16.99), a Taco Salad with Chicken ($17.49), and a Reuben Sandwich ($17.99). The burger and Reuben came with great waffle fries. My Taco Salad was quite delicious. A generous portion of fresh crisp lettuce, seasoned chicken, shredded Jack cheese, pico, jalapenos, a cilantro lime dressing. It was served with salsa and chips. We really enjoyed our visit and Jan's company. Not a bad way to start our visit to Fargo.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the tacos that I've had here. I spent an appreciable portion of my life in the southwestern US, and I had resigned to having almost no decent Mexican style options when I moved this far north. I mean, cheese covered everything is fine in its own right, but it's sub-par after experiencing the foods of the SW in their native land. With that said, Vinyl Taco really nails the gourmet taco styles that have rocked the food scene in the SW and elsewhere, and they are the only ones doing it right in Fargo-Moorhead. Rather than strive for an authenticity that can't be attained for lack of Mexican ingredients, they aim to make really excellent tacos (and I assume other items). I've seen many of these tacos throughout my travels so there is nothing particularly unique. Rather, Vinyl Taco brings a "best of" the taco scene that has grown in recent years, and they are doing it with gusto. read more

I have to say that this isn't a bad spot for a Friday night. Wanted to stop in here to get some drinks and maybe a little food after landing in town. They had a few fancy drinks on the menu but decided to go with the traditional jack and coke. I like the fact that they have their menus on the backs of record albums. Decided to get the chimichanga and it comes straight now rice or beans but that's fine it's a pretty good size and if you had anything to go along with it you'd just be stuffing your face. I am surprised that there is a not a no star option. Service and drinks are about what you would expect but the food is BAD. Had the enchiladas the first and only time I have eaten here and I got sick as a dog. After throwing up for 12hours with my girlfriend we concluded it must have been the only thing we both had.... fucking enchiladas. I have a healing factor and I was still shittin' up madness for another 2 days, my then girlfriend is dead now. I love god damn Mexican food, just not when it is made with poison, i.e. food poison. My favorite part about this place is it's "post-it note window" when you enter the restaurant/bar. People write their thoughts - inspiring or funny sayings - on post-it notes and share them for others to see. The tacos are awesome, and super affordable, as are the drinks. Neat place to eat downtown. Portions are a bit small, and the spicy versions of the tacos were too strong for my wife but I enjoyed them. Our waitress seemed too busy to fully explain the menu though for some reason when we had questions. It was busy that night but not overly busy so not sure why. read more
