The menu is mostly Mexican food and we already have a lot of Mexican restaurants for a small town. However, they are working on expanding their Italian menu. I really do hope they eventually have a full Italian menu. It would be great to have more restaurant variety in Los Alamos. Some things, you just have to go to Santa Fe for. We ordered lasagna, which is currently offered. It was very good and a sensible portion. It came with a small salad and bread. The flavor was great and the price was really good. They offer pastries from Chocolate Maven in Santa Fe. They also have dried pastas for purchase. They do not currently have a liquor license; however, that is in the works. The service was great and very attentive. We did not wait long for our food and the price was great. This will be a regular spot for me, especially when they expand the Italian menu.

There were 10 tables occupied around 1:00 and all but 3 tables were eating their food, but we still waited 25 minutes to order after we got our drinks. I had to ask the young man hosting to find our appetizer and waitress after 20 minutes. 3 of us had fries with our entrees and they were soggy, greasy, and so salty that none of us ate them. Our son who loves cheeseburgers said his tasted funny, our daughters chicken nuggets tasted like the fish my wife ordered, and my Rueben was dry and chewy because the meat was reheated on a flattop instead of steamed like it should be. No one in the kitchen seems to have a clue how things should be done in a restaurant. I could go on, but what's the point. The only thing I'll remember about this place was bad food and the $100 we threw in the garbage. If I had the chance to have a redo, I'd go down the street and eat at Sonic, and Sonic sucks.

We have been going to Viola's for breakfast and lunch for years, and have never had a bad experience there. The wait staff is amazing--your glass will never run out. The food is reasonably priced and delicious, and it's always amazing how quickly it gets to the table. You can walk in, be seated immediately, you are waited on immediately, and you will be eating within 5 minutes of walking in the door. You might have to wait a little if you come at lunch because it's so popular. This is the quintessential greasy spoon--nothing to look at, but excellent food and service. read more

This place has always had a greasy spoon stereotype. And it has the taste, which is superb! We go here sometimes with friends, and it is always good, with attentive staff and workers. The food is authentically northern New Mexico only-you could have ordered this in Espanola 60 years ago, it would be the exact same, and worth it!
