This place is out of a mall, so perhaps I shouldn't have expected the food to be great but this place missed in several other ways as well. After waiting our 30 minutes on their waitlist, they text us, called our party name once before moving to the next part to seat them as we walked up. Interesting hosting choice! Both the Diet Coke and Coke we ordered came out as if something was wrong with the carbonation. It seemed they replaced the Diet Coke because the second one was good but my Coke was worse the second try. It's disappointing when they don't have cans for situations like this because I was offered to continue drinking water and they would remove the coke, a pretty sorry response IMO. My partners vegetarian and when her enchiladas were delivered there was chicken visible so she luckily didn't take a bite before getting it sent back for the correct dish. Manager was quick to stop by and apologize for the mistake and change out her fork at her request as they had taken her fork with the previous enchiladas. To be fair, their flautas were jam packed with chicken, but just didn't taste great to me, and it wasn't clear if it was the seasoning, ratio of chicken, or something else. Overall super loud atmosphere, and service was very slow, as we had to wait almost 10 minutes after requesting the check to have the card picked up. Overall there are so many better places for Mexican food in Santa Fe, I would not recommend anyone come here. The rice and beans were particularly bland, and I left with a stomach ache. Enchilada looked great but the corn tortillas were firm and the rice tasted pre-cooked - not good. Beef, and cheese is good. The chicken was not seasoned and bland. Sopapillas taste like greasy pita bread. See photos. The lamb burrito has excellent lamb but it's one boring burrito. Just green salsa , a doughy firm wheat tortilla and nothing more. This restaurant was recommended by a local. It's not in downtown but about 2 miles from town center in a Mall. Plenty of parking so no stressing to find a spot to park. It's generally crowded but they got us seated after a short wait. The inside is nice but not overly decorated. The server was helpful and very attentive. We got chips and salsa for a starter. The chips were good and the salsa delicious. It had a nice bit. The entrees were both the combo plates. A chicken blue corn enchilada, a beef taco, beans, and posole. The red and green chili on the enchilada was insanely good. The beef taco was the best I've ever eaten. They use local raised beef and grind it in house. Easily one of the best meals on our Santa Fe visit and the prices are lower than in town for the same quality of food. This is a can't miss spot. read more

This is one of the top four in our list of favorite Santa Fe restaurants. We started eating there because they were open on Sundays. We quickly fell in love with their food. I love their green chile. My wife loves their red, but often goes Christmas. We live in Los Alamos so we often place a to go order with our meal to take home and enjoy another day. We have found that their chicken is always fresh. I especially like their chile rellenos and carne adovada. I often get their Atriscombo. I like their beef tacos. The sopapillas are always hot and tasty. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. I have never been disappointed in the quality of the food or the service. If you have never tried Atrisco, you should. Quite possibly it will become one of your favorites, too. read more

Came to Santa Fe for my granddaughter's graduation. Came here afterwards to celebrate after the place we chose originally was packed. I'm glad they were, because this place was much better. I had the stuffed sopapila with lamb, and a strawberry margarita. Hubby had frito pie. It was delicious. Portions were generous. The service was great, the ambiance warm and friendly. Friends brought me here for some good ole' New Mexican favorites. Very casual place that normally (friends described) is busy enough to require a wait but thankfully we were seated right away. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it turned out rather tasty. Basically the lamb is stuffed into a think pita-like bread (Don't shoot me) and smothered in cheese and red & green chili. I enjoyed it, but in hindsight I think lamb doesn't pair that well with chili. WOuld have been better to have carnitas, chicken, or beef. Coming up from ABQ to go to Santa Fe Market this is one of a few places we stop for Breakfast. Filled with Locals. Doesn't that tell you something? Gabriel is one of favorite waiters and although we can't always sit in his section, he will always stop by and say Hello. Friendly, real food with local flavor. Always a solid NM choice. They have the swirl so you don't have to wait hours to get one elsewhere. I usually go with the Lite plate but the frito pie and the southwest chicken salad are all winners. One more thing. The sopapillas are much better at Atriscos. If at La Choza pick the garlic toast instead. It's good. I always order the red cheese enchiladas anywhere I go and prefer the posole at La Choza rather than the Spanish rice you get at Atrisco's. The posole has a decent amount of pork and a nice touch of oregano. Most restaurants are stingy with the meat and just give you corn. Both restaurants are good but the red chile from La Choza is in my opinion much better and worth the wait. I have to admit that I mostly eat at Atrisco's because it's good food, convenient, and usually shorter wait times so I'm not being as critical as it might sound. Tomasita's, Tia Sophia's, and The Shed are also good and they don't put flour in their red chili (many restaurants do). its a shame. i pass through santa fe all the time and made a b-line for atriscos tonight with my spouse before they closed. Ate dinner at Atrisco in Santa Fe tonight. Disappointing. Had cheese enchiladas - the chile (red) was decent, but the beans and rice left a lot to be desired - super bland. The sopapillas were also bland and not puffy like a sopapilla should be. Green chile stew was fair, more tasty than the other items, but could use more ingredients - big chunks of potato and meat and that's all, and not very much meat, mostly potato. I grew up in Albuquerque, and my wife grew up in Santa Fe, so we know all of the hot spots and tourist restaurants in town. This place is on par with the best of them. If you are looking for great NM food in Santa Fe but don't want to deal with tourists or tourist prices, this place should be first on your list. After 3 years of searching hard for a restaurant with tacos that can rival mine (Philomena's recipe - IYKYK), we finally found it! We also loved the chile rellenos, the enchiladas, and the sopapillas. Both the green and the red chile are great, but the red in particular is outstanding!
