This place was disgusting and the workers were unprofessional. A young girl without customers practiced nail art on her own nails for 40 minutes while I was there, it would have been different if say she were doing it on a sample nail but it was just for her benefit. While I was there the smell was very strong, they opened the back alley door, a large 3 inch long centipede came walking in up to the person doing my set, she stomped on it and continued working without sanitizing the floor or anything. I was in the neighborhood about to attend a wedding when I had some time to kill and figured I would pick up a few things at Walgreens, and then saw this nail salon. I was in desperate need of a nail job and was embarrassed thinking about attending the event with my two big toes having a half peeled off remaining paint job. I ran in and asked about how long the wait would be, and they said they could take me right then and I was elated! The salon is very understated in this little strip mall location, but inside they have very comfortable massage chairs and the tub for your feet looks like it's made out of this beautiful blown glass. The chairs for the manicures are very comfortable and have the leather fabric design mimicking that of the Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene leather products. Jay was the aesthetician working on me and he was great. He was giving me a leg massage for my pedi and I almost fell asleep so when he had moved to another part it startled me and woke me up. They do a parafin dip on the feet and I had gotten a mini-massage while my hands and feet were drying under the UV lights. I wish they were located on the north side and closer to me. If I am ever in the south side again, I will surely stop by here again. The cost for the mani and pedi is one of the cheapest I have ever had. This place was hands-down the worst nail salon I've ever been to. Everything was dirty, the instruments were not sanitary (my manicurist literally pulled an open tray out of her drawer), it was cramped and loud and dingy. At one point when working on my cuticles, my manicurist literally cut my finger. When I tried to pull my hand back to look, she started awkwardly massaging my hand to cover up the cut. I went for a no-chip manicure. My manicure had bubbles in it and started to peel back from the edges within a few days. I would not recommend this place to anyone. So this was THE place where I would get my nails done. I recently moved from Burbank to Oak Park so its kind of a drive. OK so this place is great! Fair prices and great service (when they are not busy) and they are nice and clean.... They have $25 VIP Pedicures which include everything you would get on a regular pedicure plus a sea salt exfoliate scrub to your feet and legs, and paraffin wax soak on your feet that leave your feet suppppper soft (so its basically hot wax on baggies that go on your feet until it hardens, yes I said hot wax so make sure you brace yourself), and at the end of your pedicure they will sit you down on a normal chair while your toes dry up and they will give you a 2-3 min massage on your upper back and shoulders! (I know this is the only place that has ever done this to me!). I would always get a gel fill in for another $25 BUT since I like my nails to be fancy and fly with designs, little stones or even little 3D plastic flowers my bill was always anywhere from $25-35 (not including the pedi) And again after they were done with my hands they would give me a massage on my upper back and shoulders! Like I said this place is pretty good. Ask for Stacy I think she is the daughter of the owner and she is the Bomb.com, she is an artist and will leave your nails looking amazing, but like i said go when they are not busy!!! If they are busy which is most of the time because they are great, you will have to wait and hour to two hours and NO ONE has time for that, plus they will rush you and you will not get a massage :( I gave it 4 stars for that reason only, they are super good but they do not know how to handle a large crowd. Have been going there since they opened used to love it. Since the owner n her daughter aren't there anymore it's not as clean and service and Work not as good. I used to be able to go 4-5 weeks for fill in if needed. Last gel fill in had to go back the next day! As of one week I have had 4 broken nails , looking for a new place. I love VIP Nails. Tracy and Linda always do my nails. I've been to a lot of nail spots over the years throughout Chicago and this one is my favorite. I had no issues with the staff but i did experience bubbles in my gel set. Almost all of my nails had them and some had them bad. After two weeks almost all my nails lifted. I've gone to a handful of salons and i have never experienced this many nails lifting especially at 2 weeks. I WAS a very loyal customer to VIP but will not be returning. On several occasions my daughter or I have been cut while getting a manicure because they rush. No apology. I question the cleanliness of the instruments. They just pull them out of their drawer for use on everyone. So my blood on the cuticle cutters will most likely be used on the next client. The pedicure bowls aren't really sanitized to my liking. They just throw some powder in there and rinse. Big hurry for next customer. And when they're not busy they just play on their phones instead of using that time to sterilize pedicure bowls or instruments. The big thing that ended it for me was that they ruined my nails with the no chip manicures. They would soak your fingers way too long in the acetone, use excessive force when scraping the gel polish off and then file the actual tops of the nails. My nails got so thin it was ridiculous. The last time I was there and she cut me 2 times, filed the tops of my nails down to paper thin, I just said no more. I paid for what was done and left. Every finger hurt for over a week! They were visibly red and all scraped up. It will take a while to "heal" my nails and get them strong again. When I would ask over the past few months if damage was being done and I should give them a break......oh noooooo! I looked up online proper procedure and I don't know where they got their training if they even did. Why did I keep coming back? DONE! Do yourself a favor and find another place. read more

Went to get my nails done for New Years. It was a little busy, but not too busy. I sat down and Jessica started my nails. While mid way thru doing my nails, she gets up and starts another customer. 15 minutes later, she got up and started this girls eyebrows and left me sitting there with my nails half done and no apology or even to tell me she was going to start someone else. I was sitting there for 10 more minutes when I finally looked at her and said what about me? Then she acted like it was a big deal to finish. She was in a hurry and kept messing up my polish. 3 days later 2 nails popped off. I had been going there since they opened. Each time I went they went downhill from there. No chip mani's peeled, bubbled or chipped. Each time I would get my nails done, a chunk of nail would come off or I would loose a whole nail each time I got my nails done. So it was either old or cheap products. This place isn't even worth one star. It's a shame because in the beginning they were awesome. Disappointed, I have been going to this place for years now but it's has really sunken to an all time low, I let it slide when they opted to use tissue in place of toe separators, but I went in yesterday and they no longer add soap of any sort to the pedicure bath just hot water and they start the pedicure. I even let that slide but when the young lady tried to get over me because she couldn't find the regular polish that came in the box with no-chip, she went searching on the regular polish rack for something to match, of course it didn't, so when i said something about it not matching and asked them just use the same regular polish on both my nails and toes they told me if u go from no/chip to regular polish we charge $5, HOW SWAY???? They in there just making money, no customer service, no nothing, it's all about saving and making that all mighty dollar. I wonder what happened to the old staff that use to work there, they were awesome but I'm sure they probably opened a new store and hired all these ding-bats to work this one!! If you're strapped for cash and really want to get a mani pedi, I guess you would consider going here. A lot of the girls I know that come here go to high school or just graduated and don't want to spend a lot so they think this is a really good place but I've been to much better places where you pay $5-10 more depending on if you're getting regular or no-chip and they do a fantastic job and add scrubs so it really is worth it to go somewhere else. The girl who did my nails here at vip cut my nails all different lenghts and some were crooked and over half were not filed smooth so that i had to take a file and do it myself carefully while waiting for my younger cousin who was getting acrylics (also didn't look neat and even). Overall didn't look very clean, had too many people and was crowded. I would say the only good thing is they have a lot of nail polishes to choose from, but I don't think they have a large no-chip selection. read more
