VIP nails ruined my nails - they popped off my previous dip nails using a fake nail, ruining my nail bed, instead of soaking them off like every other nail salon. The gel polish choices are minimal and they didn't clean up their work. My nails are jagged, not filed properly, and have indentations and hairs in the polish coats. After I had a failed attempt at doing dip nails at home, we ran here to try to fix it before my in laws showed up. The biggest plus is that they were able to get me in fast (though I saw several others leave over the wait afterward). Honestly this was a disappointment. The salon is dirty, from the towels to the chairs, everything is old and there's a strong cigarette smell that permeates the entire room. I had issues from them bringing over the wrong color multiple times to making my nail beds bleed to a complete lack of attention to the fact that we were still there. The weirdest part is that they're charging the same price as high end nail salons in the area (a dip mani with a deluxe pedi still costs $75) but you leave with a sub par product and a worse experience. Everyone is so sweet and amazing when I come here. I'm a monthly customer and am in love with my nails all the time! They have a great selection of Dip colors and are really tentative when doing your nails. It's not rushed in and out. The only negative criticism I would give- can be a rough when filing and cause cuts so please be more gentle. Other than that I love this spot! read more

Honestly, once I went and this short young guy did my dip and they were great, the other two times I have come has been shit. Older guy did my pedicure and was just mindlessly going at it and left a whole strip of foot untouched my the callus remover so you can imagine a strip of roughness it was kinda disappointing but I came back for a simple manicure and got this. Look 15 under there sub par dryer and they still aren't dry. Their suggestion is to get gel for more . This young lady did my manicure with cold water and lotion (not cuticle remover). Poor customer service. Unsafe. No barriers for COVID and combative. I came here for a super standard one color pedicure. During that time, I was cut, badly and bled A LOT. When I asked to speak to a manager, the technician asked me why (the obvious, but also, why is there a screening process?) I was asking as a courtesy not because I wanted any answer other than ok. I had to request a band aid 4 times. DURING A PANDEMIC. I had an open wound bleeding for at least 9 minutes before they could find one and cover it My service was discounted, not free. No one even said sorry. Then when I came the next day to get the injured toe polished - ONE TOE- it took 18 minutes and double the amount of coats from the previous day because they had a new person practicing on me. Wow usually when reviews are up about a nail place I take the good with the bad but unfortunately the reviews are true. The first time they had the wrong color in the labeled box and ask if I would like that colors they did wrong. I said no it was fire engine red and I wanted a darker magenta. They tried to say it was the same color until I showed them. It took them a while to find the right one which still wasn't as dark as the sample nail. Then had to redo the gel toes. I ended up being there almost three hours with waiting for someone too when they said I could come right in. Then for some reason she went back and started trimming skin again and cut me pretty deep. She also cut me doing my hands. I don't ever write reviews but I won't be back! I should come back to get a more well rounded review but it's a new year and I'm honestly too grown to be pe put through more uncomfortable situations by choice. My pedicure here was okay. The nail technician did a job worth the price, but it was the conversation that had me feeling uneasy. Granted, not most Yelpers will have their nail tech give them advice on careers, life and future nail appointments...I hope. Such is my life though when you're a young Viet girl with enough fluency in Vietnamese, that sets in motion a whole set of cultural norms including taking advice from strangers solely based off their experiences or transferred knowledge-- and everyone has both. I've come here twice because it's closer than Onyx. Both times have been a disappointment. The first time I was told it would be a 15 minute wait which turned into an hour. I wish they would have been realistic so I could have run an errand and came back. I got a pedicure and it was relaxing but the Polish only lasted a few days. The second time they continued to try to upsell me while speaking broken English. I didn't know what they were saying and wasn't going to be tricked so I continued to repeat myself that all I wanted was a Polish change. I ended up with a sloppy Polish change and a cut on my toe. I've given them enough chances and won't be back. I prefer Onyx because my polish lasts at least two weeks and it's the same price. They aren't annoying with upselling. They're on Cedar Springs. The saying, "You get what you pay for" is never more true than it is at VIP Nails. I've been coming here for years and with the change in new management came a swift decline in service and integrity of the shop. While most of the techs aim to please, the cleanliness and upkeep of the store is beyond gross. My phone is always packed with nail dust even though I am only there for a gel manicure, and not acrylic nails which uses the rotary tool that grinds off the top layer of the nails. Acrylic nails are laying around on the floor each time I am there. It is painfully obvious they don't sweep or clean regularly. The margarita machines sit with liquid in them all week until they use it on unsuspecting customers on Fridays. I can imagine the bacteria growing inside while it sits dirty all week. The towels are gross and need to be replaced. The nail tools are not sanitized and cleaned. They just keep them in that sanitizing bag to make it look like they've been cleaned but each time I get my nails done the bag is already open and not fresh. Sneaky, sneaky. It's my own fault for going regularly because they're cheap but I know I keep running the risk of infection. This was my last time there. The only reason I gave it another star is because the nail techs are really nice. It seems that management can't pay them well enough because they are constantly changing and getting new techs. The management needs to step up and clean, pay their techs what they are worth and invest in their store instead of being cheap! read more

I LOVE LILY! She does an incredible job every time I'm in to see her. She's very professional but still fun to talk to and joke around with when your getting your nails done. She's done my (dip plus coffin tips) nails probably 4 or 5 times now and I am happy with the final product every time. Another great lady there is Mimi. I am writing this as I wait a Princess Nails. Literally left VIP after they told me a gel set (with my own nails) would be 25 then 35 then back at 25. The gentleman that was doing my nails asked me if I just wanted a gel set but no manicure. What does that even mean? I was scared that price was gonna go back up to 35 so fine. Just do the nails. No extra stuff. He then starts to grind my nail bed (scared the crap out of me). I tell him to please not do that. They are already thin. He tells me he has to and I tell him no. I don't need it. Gel sits fine with a light evening of the nail bed. He then starts to cut the tip of my nails!! My natural nails!! He tell me I told him I wanted an acrylic set. I just can't. He starts arguing with the other employees as I'm putting on my jacket telling him I don't trust him and there have been to many discrepancies. This lady didn't care to honor my requests at all. The only thing she did correctly was the dip color. I tried asking her to fix some of the nails that didn't look good, but she blamed it on my nails being short and that color would be lost. Most of my nails are shaped differently, my natural nails are showing on the sides, and some nails are lumpy. Worst of all, she painfully shaved my cuticles away instead of taking the time to push them back. I had to tell her three times that she was hurting me. Then she was silent and rude during checkout. I used to come to this nail shop when I lived in the area back in 2015. I moved away for 2 years and came back. This was my first time in , in three years. I got a deluxe pedicure, eye brows, and a full set dip powder. The cost was $80 including an $8 tip. I walked in at 10 am and was leaving out at 11:30. They did the nails and feet at the same time cut my time in half being in the shop. I was able to get multiple colors. The service was fast and a quality job. I walked in and has no wait. I previously left a 4-star review of this place, on Facebook, but I'm gonna have to take that back. I'm currently sitting here, getting my nails done, and this tech, Nancy, had been rude the entire time. I know people have bad day sometimes, so I wasn't going to say anything. In the process, after I repeatedly told her she was being rough, she cut my hand and drew blood. I said, "oh, you cut me." and she just kept going. I said it again, she looked at me and shook her head and kept going. So I said, "so we're just gonna pretend that you didn't just cut me, huh?" Instead of apologizing like she should have, the first time I got cut, she says, "whatever, it happens. It's not a big deal." Like, if not some person who just likes to cause waves. An, "oh, sorry about that" would have been okay. I asked the receptionist the name of the technician and she got pissy. I was asking bc I've been here several times and have never been treated like this before. And as I've said to the tech ding my nails, I've been getting my nails done since I was 12 and never been cut enough to have blood drawn. So maybe it "just happens" when NANCY does them, but I've never had it happen when anyone else has, in almost 20 years. And I'm sure if anyone else would, they'd at least apologize. I asked for her specific name because I know her lack of skills isn't representative of the rest of the staff at VIP nails. Jason, who finished my nails (after Nancy stormed off) was very polite and went the extra mile to ensure my nails looked good and was careful not to irritate my cut finger. Everyone else has always been great. So I'd still continue going to VIP in the future, but will never want Nancy anywhere near my nails again and I'd suggest the same for anyone else who goes there. read more

I will say he cracked me up a little bit because he would just push and yank my head around instead of telling me to tilt my head, but he got the job done. I was told that this place does next gen for $19, when I walked in I asked about this price and the man at the front said year that was correct. When I went to pay and leave he gave me a ticket for $35. And said that was the price and acted like the conversation we had when I first walked in never happened and he didn't know what I was taking about. Very shady very shady. I don't even know where to start. Don't go here. I went in the day before thanksgiving to just get dip removed. This is not my usual place and I went just bc it was the only one open. I figured it's just for dip removal so it should be no problem. BUTTTT I go in and get seated immediately and the woman (wish I got her name) started to crack my nails with a nail clipper. She cut off the corner of each of my nails and then took an a acrylic nail and squeezed it under the entire dip and popped it off. Painful. She did two fingers and I had to ask her to stop. I said I would like to just dip them in acetone. And that's that. But it was ridiculous, I can pop them off at home on my own time with less pain. So I'm not sure why that method was chosen but she damaged my nails and cut my nail crooked from the corner to try and pop it off. Will not be going back.
