It's small business Saturday and I decided to get our take out lunch during this COVID-19 pandemic at the nearest local pizza place to support small businesses and VIP Pizza was the place I chose on based on good reviews from Yelp. Ordering by phone was easy and my order of the Lemon Pepper Chicken and Pepperoni Garlic Gourmet pizzas was made. I got to VIP in about 25 minutes and the pizzas were ready to go as promised when the order was taken. When I went into VIP I was greeted by a woman who assisted me but I was very surprised that she was NOT wearing a mask!!! I was wearing my mask as I always do when out in public. And this is during a time where COVID-19 cases are at their highest. I should have called her out but didn't. The pizzas were slightly above average. I ate the lemon pepper pizza and it was good and liked that the zucchini was crisp and fresh. However, the chicken was dry and tough. The kids had the pepperoni pizza and thought it was good. We've had better pizzas. I was about to give 4 stars but the server not wearing a mask really put me off and I have to take away a star. If the owner or manager is reading please counsel your workers to always wear a mask to protect themselves and others around them. We all need to be safe out there! read more

We went here for my son's pre-k graduation because he loves pizza. It is a small place so if you coming in with family and friends it may not be the place for you. But if you are coming in to drink some beer and watch sports the have a nice bar seating area. We ordered the sourdough combo and the lemon garlic chicken (I think that was the name) along with some buffalo wings. The lemon garlic was too salty for us so we will pass on that one next time but the sourdough combo was delicious. The wings were also really tasty. We would definitely recommend the sourdough combo. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the cleanliness of the place. 2 of the 4 tables in the dining area were dirty and since it was not busy I thought they would have taken care of that more quickly. Bottom line - pizza yummy. Restaurant area needs some work. read more

There was just something off about my roast beef sandwich. The meat was rubbery and wet, similar to packaged lunch meat one would find at the grocery store, except it looked kinda weird too. The bread was toasted to perfection, the service was attentive, and I liked having a pickle wedge with my sandwich, but based on the sandwich alone, I was not very impressed. read more

My parents live in Arizona & decided they wanted to order me pizza. Sweet right? We used to live in Brookside so they're used to the place. BAD IDEA. This broad calls me 45 minutes later saying she tried calling my phone because the card wasn't working. She said she called immediately after but my phone was off. BULL. My phone was next to me the whole time & I received my other calls without fail the whole time. & because the card wasn't working, they don't start the pizza until it's paid for. & this idiot, who's job is to take orders, is ignorant enough to ask me if I still wanted to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes for a pizza that is equivalent to Round Table. I grew up a 15 minute walk from the place, so obviously I ate here a lot. It's a little expensive for what you get, but you are supporting a local joint and not a chain. I've gotten their sides - wings are nothing to write home about, wedges used to be great but they started doing this weird spicy seasoning on them. Garlic bread is fresh and awesome. Their best pizza is their VIP Veggie - feta, spinach, sundried tomatos, garlic sauce. Perfect. Staff is ALWAYS friendly, even when they're packed, which is quite often. read more

I've ordered from here twice and both times were good- never eaten at the restaurant so can't speak for the service but the guy I ordered w/ on Friday 2/22/13 was very friendly. The order consisted of a medium pizza w/ a sour dough crust 1/2 BBQ Chicken and 1/2 Combination w/ green olives instead of blk. Side note- you have to have their ranch dressing for dipping- It is the best ranch I've had in Stockton!! The pizza was hot out of the oven when picked up and very good- quality items w/ a loaded pizza- they don't skimp which is key! We got this mysterious pizza from my mother in-law and it was amazing. We have been searching for this pizza for a while now. This is the place!!! We found it at last. We ordered a half Greek and half Combination. OMG, this pizza is AMAZING. I love this place now. It's my favorite pizza place hands down. I live near Safeway on Pacific Ave. I would drive accross Stockton for this pizza. The price is a little on the exspensive side but it is worth it. Their pizza is my favorite in town. I get the sourdough crust (not really sour tasting, which I like) because it's a nice thick crust. It's the only high profile pizza place in Stockton that doesn't mess me up. There's several other favorites in town, but they will mess up my stomach, make me retain fluid and/or break out the following day. read more

With all the great reviews, I thought I'd try this place since it is right around the corner from my house. I tried the all you can eat buffet...but upgraded to a beer...and it came with a small salad. Overall, the pizza was just average. For the buffet, there was a small variety, but it was just average tasting pizza in my opinion. This places is not very large, but it was nice inside and I liked all the TV monitors. Since this place didn't knock my socks off, I'll try another place next time...but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it...it might be exactly the kind of pizza you'll love. read more

I keep forgetting to write my review of this restaurant. At the VIP Pizza (Brookside location) I usually order a pastrami sandwich to go. The sandwich is really tasty. The bread (roll) is warm with a nice crunch to it. They are pretty generous with pastrami. I think with all the meat, veggies and cheese, there is a nice balance to it - just the right amount of everything. You won't be disappointed in this sandwich! A wrapped pickle and a bag of chips comes with the order. I have yet to order another sandwich because I enjoy this one so much. The sandwich is pretty large, I could only eat 1/2 of it. The other half I usually share or save it for dinner. I also had the lunch buffet a couple of times. The first time I called to ask the time they start the buffet, the owner answered, asked me if I would be arriving soon so that he can put the pizzas in the oven. He even asked me what type of pizzas I would like! The buffet also includes salad, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, french fries and soup (I might be missing an item or two). Not bad for the price (under $10). The staff are very friendly too. It's a great spot - walking distance from my office. . One day I will come in after work just to relax and have a drink. This review is about the sandwich at VIP Pizza. I heard that years ago, there was some dispute between VIP Pizza and Brookside Cafe about who gets to serve sandwiches in that little area. I figured, if VIP Pizza wanted to serve sandwiches enough to cause a dispute over that, their sandwiches must be pretty damn good, right? Unfortunately, not really. I came here with a friend on a weekday for lunch. The place had only one waitress, who was friendly enough. We both ordered sandwiches; mine being the pastrami with typical condiments. The sandwiches took a surprisingly long time to come out considering that they were just sandwiches; I guess they're quite low on staff during the weekdays. The sandwich itself was just unremarkable, or even below average. The pastrami wasn't very tasty and not given in enough quantity, and the bread, while toasted, wasn't incredible either. Certainly not as good as what I used to get a Brookside Cafe. It just all came out to a big, tough sandwich that's just lacking in flavor. The price was about what you'd get at Subway or Podesto's. Personally, I'll never go back for a sandwich. read more

This is the pizza place we use most of the time to order take out. The reason it doesn't get a higher score is that it can be inconsistent. Some times it's the BEST, other times, not so great. When they're "on" the pizza is quite tasty. We also enjoy the wings with ranch sauce. We will continue get take out here (unless the bad times start to outweigh the good.) Nice job. No too doughy, not too crusty. Good balance of flavor and not too much or too little sauce. Toppings were spot on and the pizza was piping hot. Did get the wings but they were just OK. Nothing to write (yelp) home about. They have a decent supply of beers other than the big garbage brands so that is a plus. This was one of my favorite pizza joints until today. I really loved the product as it was of a very good quality. How ever after 8 years of having a quality product delivered to my location for the past 8 years I was told that they don't deliver to my location? After asking to speak to a manager I was told that their isn't one there to speak to and she hung up on me. Usually this place is good but the last 3 times I've ordered I've been so disappointed the most recent I ordered 2 large combos and one of the meets tasted expired the time before that we ordered sandwiches I got a pastrami and there was so much fat on it it was so chewy and they also forgot the salami we asked for in a turkey salami sandwich I tried to mention it to the girl that takes the order and she totally ignored me no apology that's why I didn't even bother to call about the pizza. read more

VIP Pizza's "The Combination" on a sour dough crust was great! Got it to go for a school fund raiser and it was ready on time, hot and delicious. The sauce for the "combination" is awesome!
