After the angels vs dodgers game we wanted to grab something quick to eat. This was right off the 57 freeway on lincoln. It's located in the 7-11 plaza. When we got there it was 9:55pm, and we noticed a sign that says one dollar taco after ten pm from Sunday to Thursday. So we decided to go into 7-11 to get a drink and kill some time. Normally tacos are 2 dollars and on taco Tuesday they are 1.50. So if you can hold out until ten pm, it's a good deal. We ended up getting AL pastor, Carne asada, carnitas, chorizo. These tacos are actually pretty filling and the tortilla they use is thick, which is perfect so it doesn't break when you go and pick it up. The best one was the AL pastor one. It was juicy and full of flavor. They also have a salsa bar with a lot of different levels of sauces. They also have cucumber, onions and radish. Son and I hit this place on way back to hotel after Angels game. It was recommended as a "authentic hole in the wall" by a local resident. The location is a little sketchy, but the food was solid. The tacos come with slightly crispy hand made tortillas. I had shrimp and asada and they were good. Son had his usual asada burritos. He said they were good, but were on the small side. NEVER COMING BACK My family lives close by so we've been coming here since they first opened. Every year the food and the service gets worse but today solidified we're never coming back. We did a large order as we always do and they got my quesadilla order wrong (as they often get orders wrong) I asked for a flour tortilla, and they put it on a corn tortilla with very little cheese, seemed more like a Sope. It was simple, so I called and just asked if they would be able to make me my correct order, and he said ya he could just make sure to bring the receipt so my brother went to get it for me. When he got there and asked for the order agreed upon on the phone, cashier proceeded to say sorry but the cook says we cant make you another quesadilla the way you actually ordered the first time but we will charge you half price. It turned into them arguing, he even admitted that he heard me ask for a flour tortilla and that he said on the phone he'd remake it but the cook was now refusing for whatever reason. They refused to let him speak to a manager and said the only person able to make decisions is the head cook who refused to even come out front. The cook refused to even apologize for the inconvenience of not making a correct order in the first place and for them saying over the phone they'd remake it so we drove back for it and everything and then deciding not to make it. I really wanted to love this place because it's within a reasonable driving distance from our house to stop by and snag dinner on busy nights. We ordered 4 tacos, 2 asada, 1 pollo, and one pastor with pineapple. Our 4 tacos took 20 minutes to come out and a few more minutes for them to be wrapped to go. Took them on the 3 minute drive home and ate thrm immediately. The pineapple in the pastor gave the taco an ok flavor but for the most part the meat in all 4 was rather flavorless and the tacos a bit soggy. We found ourselves using too much salsa etc trying to help increase the flavor. The agua fresca was good and not too pulpy. So bummed, still on the hunt for really good local tacos. read more

I was hungry after a long day, and this place had a special deal for tortas on Thursdays. They're 5$ on Thursday's. My total came out to 5.92 after tax. It was really good! All of the ingredients blended well together. They offered a ton of condiments on the side. The salsa there is delicious but it is actually spicy! My first time wasn't so good, I got some Asada tacos and it was some pretty dried out meat and I'd left very disappointed when I could've went to Taqueria Escalante across the street as I had done so many times in the past. This place don't have a whole lot going on aesthetically I mean like one picture on the wall, it used to be a bit more decorated. They did have some kind of video DJ and what crap, they played some horrible music videos on the two flat screens while I was there. FOOD: We both ordered some asada tacos. I must say they were not dry and chewey like before. It was a tad bit busy so maybe that accounted for the fresher food. They have a decent salsa bar too. Overall this trip was better food wise than before except for the DJ thing. TEQUERIA PET PEEVE: Deadbeats. Damn near 3/4 of the people I saw ordering tacos like one or two tacos managed to fill up a plate with cucumbers radishes carrots and the like +5 salsas for each taco. Love the food here, but the service is terrible. I went to order tacos and the cashier did not greet us. When we were placing our order with her, she had this little attitude with her as if she didn't wanna be there. It is not my problem. If you don't like where you work you should always service your customer properly. And when we were placing our order with her, her name is Natalie , she was multitasking doing something else which she isn't even good at because when I would say my order, I would have to repeat it and she would repeat it incorrectly. Never have I've l ever been here where they have been so rude and standoffish to me. That makes me want to think twice if I want to come back again. Their food is great! They give you gloves to use for the salsa bar, the food is fresh, the tortillas are handmade, and the meat is yummy. On the other hand, the wait is usually over 20 minutes, their phone line is always busy so you cannot place a to-go order, and they unfortunately must not be very sanitary in the kitchen as I discovered a cooked wasp in my asada fries yesterday. This was the first time that's ever happened to me & was really disgusting since I had already ate half of them :-) They must have a fly catcher somewhere inside the kitchen. So to reiterate, the food is delicious but they are not sanitary here. So .....stuffed! Haven't had VIP in a while, decided to stop in and so glad i did. I got 3 asada tacos and one buche, chicken and carnitas. The carnitas by far is their best taco, followed by the buche and then the asada. Asada is good, but the flavor of the carnitas and buche is just top notch. Salsas are good and they use to be spicier but still good flavor. Good size tacos, 6 was too many, 3 would have been good (and I'm a big guy). Horchata is a different flavor but in a good way, i drank that thing before i even got on the main road .
