I had the same issue with Accurate that several others here have had. I've been waiting a week for Mike to come by and look at my broken shower door. He's told me on two separate occasions that he would stop by in the next two days, but he hasn't shown and he hasn't followed up by phone. Accurate's a local business and apparently a fixture in Albany/Irving Park. I'd love to support it, but it's got to communicate better with its customers. If my job is too small or if Accurate's workload is too big, fine. Just tell me, and I will call someone else. Just don't leave me hanging for a week. read more

Save your money. So unprofessional. I had a simple 1-window replacement request as to my condo. It took this guy (Mike) months to initially respond; and, when they finally came out to my place (which was about 3-4 blocks from their location) to take measurements, I don't hear from them for over one year. Throughout the entire communication I told him that - like any reasonable working person - I have to modify my schedule to anticipate them coming or even look into my request, and each time they either did not respond or gave me a date that they did not meet. I would also routinely walk into their facility and follow up, and they'd assure me they'll get to it, but just blew me off. I can't comment on their work, but only complete lack of organization, professionalism, and general care of their prospective customers. Would not recommend. read more

The price was good, but ended up having to wait 4 days to have a cracked window replaced because their machine broke. Luckily there wasn't much rain that week. Also, I had to bring it back because the bottom piece wasn't installed correctly which explained why I couldn't fit it back in the window frame. They were apologetic about everything and nice, but with the wait and not doing it right the first time, I'm giving them an "A-OK". Also, it would be nice if they cleaned the window, but I suppose I'd prefer a lower price to a clean product read more

When I first called Mike he was very helpful as I had never had to fix a window before and was a little unsure about some of the questions he had. He was very patient and knowledgable. We set an appt. for him to look at my window on a Saturday morning so it could be ordered on time for my move out date. Saturday came and I had no confirmation call on Friday (like promised) and no one had shown up yet. I called at 10am and Mike Said they were very busy and they work on a first come first serve basis. I asked him if they still planned to come out today and he could not give me a straight answer. He kept saying how busy he was and that he would call me back today. Since this was a time sensitive manner, I just wanted some candidness. If you can't come- then say so. Needless to say, still no call and no estimate. Now I'm stuck trying to find a new contractor in a week. Poor customer service and organization. read more

The most expensive (beveled glass etc) is the reg price of less expensive elsewhere. Come here! The Staff here are SUPER DUPER Delightful to work with! I had a HUGE Mirror that broke and every other glass company wanted about 50% more than I was willing to pay. Since this is beveled glass needed , I ended up paying an extra $50 in which I didn't mind as their cheeper glass still was about 50% less than where I'd pay anywhere else. There is a discount for cash paying so that you're not paying CC Fee's but it's well worth it. All of the staff were extremely nice. The owner is great and I am so happy with their work! We walked in at random 15 minutes before they were closing, I needed glass for my small end tables. The price he gave us was cheap and great! They did the work for me on the spot. My kids were with me and they were really interested in the process of cutting/making glass. He took the time to explain everything and let them watch while the work was being done. They had a blast. He went the extra mile if you ask me. I highly recommend this place! read more

This little hole-in-the-wall is my go-to glass, plexiglas, screen, and mirror place. Apparently they do auto glass too. Prices always reasonable. The first job I had them do was about 20 small glass shelves for a custom CD storage unit. It was done impeccably. Then I had a screen made, also perfect. I went back two more times to have tabletops made out of Plexiglas, and discovered that with small jobs, done while you wait (on a folding chair in their dingy lobby), they don't always get it right the first time. However, they'll redo it at once or give you a break on the price if that happens. I went away satisfied. As for the other reviewer who found the owner rude? He seemed like a sweetheart to me, despite the gruff, blunt exterior. (And I'm female.) There's only paid street parking, but I got away with parking there free for brief periods Their hours aren't the greatest for working folks, and the shop is kind of casual about them; they might just close early if they're not expecting any business. I'd recommend phoning to let them know you're coming (they're the sort of place that might stay late for a customer, as well as closing early). read more

We came out to the car and noticed a smashed windshield. :( It's been awhile since I had been vandalized. Ugh. I called around. Accurate wasn't the closest place (about 3 miles from home), they didn't "come to you", and they weren't even the cheapest....but they had great communication, were friendly and decently priced. I checked around on Yelp and made a few phone calls. {for my '05 Chevy Cobalt my estimates were $130-285} The two places that are national, bigger, chain type places that were supposed to come to you couldn't get it done until tomorrow and were nearly $100 more than the other shops. There were 3 "independent" shops that were not too far and competitive prices...but only one had a nice woman who spoke English and could clearly communicate with me about what to expect, my estimate, etc. The one shop even misunderstood my asking for an estimate for making an appointment and called me to inquire where I was. Accurate was decently quick. The installation took about an hour. They did a good job I suppose (time will tell) --but my husband had to ask them to vacuum off the seat, they didn't vacuum the rest of the car out at all. They left a razor blade on the passenger's car seat. They put everything (IPASS, City Sticker, etc.) back up on the windshield, but in the wrong places. The office staff was nice but the people who did the work seemed put off and barely told us not to take the tape off until tomorrow. They said if we have problems to come back because they warranty their work. The total cost was $183 and some change. read more

My car got broken into this morning (day I wrote this) and I needed to get my window replaced asap. I found them on google and yelp and gave them a call. Within minutes of leaving my message I get a call back from a very friendly person. I told her my story, model car, year, etc., and she said "well we don't have it in stock right now... Can you come at 1pm?" (this was at 10am). Well of course 1pm is fine, I ended up showing up at 4:30 so I could finish work and I was in and out in 45 minutes. Not only did they do an excellent job of replacing my windows they also removed all of the glass from my car. So they were fast, but not at the cost of efficiency. This place is phenomenal. A staple in the Albany Park community for over 5 decades. I am one of the firefighters assigned to the firehouse around the corner from Accurate, at Kedzie and Montrose (Eng 124).. Today, our glass window in our rear door broke. We called Accurate, explained what happened and described the type of glass/window (wire glass). They said they did have the glass and could help us get it replaced. When I went, I met the brother/sister who run Accurate. They are great people. Amazing, friendly customer service. When he was finished replacing the glass, I asked how much.. and to my surprise, he said don't worry about it. Thank you sir. Stay away. They do not meet commitments, do not return phone calls, do not seem to know who is doing what within their own business, and are condescending and rude when they fail to meet their commitments due to their own internal failures. Very surprising from a small business as most can't afford to treat customers in this manner. As a small business owner, their incompetence is now costing me more than the quoted price of glass that they were unable to deliver as committed. Accurate fixed a window that mysteriously broke. (My boys are still arguing about who did it.) Because of their high ratings on Yelp, I called and explained what I needed. Michael - believe that is his name - said that sure, he could send someone out to first measure and then come back with glass, but instead he suggested that I just take out the window and bring it to him because it would cost way less. Well, duh, why didn't I think of that?! He explained how I could just pop it out of the frame and bring it in. Worked perfectly and did save me a lot. The location is convenient with plenty of street parking right in front. Seems most jobs take at least 24 hours, so drop it off and pick up the next day. read more

Excellent service from this company. I called on Friday for a piece of glass, to be delivered to a customer out in Chicago that was broken when we shipped it to them. I have been charged anywhere from $120-250 for this same service from other vendors, and was pleased that Accurate, with delivery to our customer, was only in the $120 range. The kind lady on the phone was very attentive, received all of the information and the glass was cut within a few days. She sent over the receipt as requested. Good service, we'll definately keep them in mind for future glass replacement. I highly recommend them. read more

I cracked a front window in my living room back in December. An original window in a building almost 100 years old. I called Accurate Glass on a day after we got a LOT of snow. I suspected they'd be busy fixing broken windshields and the like. But the guy who answered the phone asked me approximately how large the window was and said they'd send somebody out later that day. This was at 9 am. When I called back at 3:30, the lady who answered said she had not even heard I'd called. She apologized profusely, put me on hold and then found the message that I'm guessing wasn't left where she could see it. She told me it was very doubtful they'd get somebody out that day but promised someone would show up the next day. Shortly after 9 the next morning, a guy from Accurate Glass showed up to replace the window. Unfortunately, he couldn't do it in-house. Evidently, they need EXACT window dimensions to replace it inhouse. He didn't have a big enough piece of glass with him. So why am I giving them 5 stars? Because they stayed with the original estimate. Because they got the work done sooner than I'd guessed before I called them. They removed the window without damaging anything in the 100 year old window frame. They also kept my apartment immaculate. I needed only clean a few smudgy fingerprints on the window frame after they left. And because I suspect if you call and talk to the lady who usually answers the phone, you'll get an exact estimate of time and what measurements they need; she will let you know within an hour of when you can expect a person from their shop to appear and when it will be completed. read more

I've called every other week for the last 5 months and every week it's a different story. He took my name/number down 15 times. First he had to order the right frame, then it was the glass, then he was on vacation...Finally went today to pick up window and he said to take my business elsewhere next time. I needed a glass for a broken door that was 22" x 8". I originally went to Ace Hardware and they informed me I needed tempered glass and recommended that I go to a glass business. When I walked in holding my broken glass, I asked for tempered glass. The jerk in the office made a big deal about me asking for tempered glass when the original was not tempered. I felt like he was showing off because someone was in the office with him. I informed him that I failed to take a glass course at the University of Chicago and that I was asking for what the sales person at Ace recommended. The guy went on about me asking for tempered glass when I was holding something else and had the nerve to say that I shouldn't ask for an orange if I actually need an apple. It's small businesses like this that push people to shop at the big-box stores. read more

3-28-16 I had a Very disappointing phone call with Mike today. It is unfortunate that this family owned store that's so close to me is run by a man, Mike, who has a reputation for being "rude and impatient!" Other businesses do attest that "yes, that sounds like Mike!" Instead of offering his expertise to gain a customer, he scolded with "you're in over your head" and "you need to educate yourself." Part of the reason I was calling was to learn from an expert via an order for tempered glass. Perhaps he was busy, honesty may have retained a customer. My impression is that Mike does not like questions, nor offer any options for homeowners. Moreover, Ladies be prepared for your typical Contractor Attitude, or send a man to get done what needs to get done. My dad used to go here, he never had a complaint. Feedback is a gift, word of mouth can be a blessing. Me, I am disappointed and have taken my business elsewhere. read more

I am a big fan of supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, I can not recommend anyone coming to this shop. My car window was broken into. I googled auto glass shops, and called the closest ones, one is now closed. I had gotten 2 other quotes. Accurate was the closest to my house and quoted an extra $20. I said that was fine, and left my car there. The next day when I came to pick it up, the person behind the counter charged me an additional $10 and said that I must have been mistaken about the quote. Then I went to the car and the replacement window did not match the other windows, it was tinted - I do not have tinted windows! I was told that it wasn't "a big deal". Well it is a big deal. So I asked for the window to be removed and for a full refund. Since the store was closing, I asked if he would rather me pick the car up in the morning. The owner said "no, I am not storing your car since I am not making money on this job". His staff then proceeded to rip and scratch up the plastic that holds the window in place. I have not experienced customer service so bad in a long time. If you do go to Accurate, I would highly suggest getting your quote in writing and ask for the specifications of the glass being installed. read more

Did you know that when the windchills are 50 below zero, the inside pane of your bathroom window can shatter out of nowhere in the middle of the night? Yep. The first guy we called to fix it couldn't come for 3 days, and told us that it would be a 5-day turnaround after that to get the replacement back. When the appointment time rolled around, he didn't show. Finally was able to reach him THREE HOURS later, at which point he told me that he had no record of our appointment and "you must have called the wrong company." Um, no. I next called Accurate Glass, who'd been recommended by a guy on our condo board. The woman who answered the phone was super friendly, asked a lot of questions and answered all mine, and was able to get a guy out to take measurements within a few hours of me calling. Even better - the window was done and installed back in our bathroom in less than 24 hours. They actually came in on a Saturday morning to put it back in! I was shocked, and SO grateful - like lots of people, we both work days, and we were really happy that we didn't have to do the "ok, who's going to take off work to let the repair guy in" negotiation. Their quote was a little bit higher than the first guy... but, you know, he didn't show up, so you get what you pay for. They also take credit cards, which a lot of home repair vendors don't. After several fruitless days of not finding the dimensions I wanted from useless & over-priced Big Box stores with their pre-fab one-size-fits-some model, my friend asked me why I hadn't called a local glass shop to cut a shelf in the dimensions I needed. I called on a Tuesday morning. Wow, what a great idea! So, the young lady that answered the phone was extremely pleasant and very helpful. She took her time and deliberately ascertained the exact dimensions I needed and then confirmed what I requested. The price quote I received was lower by far than any Big-Box hardware store for quite a few less total inches of glass. So, by shopping at Accurate I got exactly the dimensions I wanted for a far lower price than any major hardware store. Now, onto the good part, the shop is about 1 block from my house so I was able to walk there and back. I called in on a Tuesday morning and my order was promised to be ready Thursday morning. The young lady called Tuesday afternoon and said my shelf was ready for pick-up, 1.5 days earlier than promised! WOW! Thanks very much!! I'm impressed. I don't know how often I will need glass cut in the future but Accurate Glass will be 1st on my list! read more

these guys are fantastic. i had a cracked windshield (bmw 3 series) and they came to my office within 24 hours to replace it. they were extremely professional, timely (came when they said they would), friendly, and cost efficient. after learning that my deductible was $500, they recommended that i go direct through them and replaced the windshield for less ($360, which included labor costs). the next day, i noticed that there was a slight problem with the installation (one of the pieces was sticking out 1-2 cm) and they came out within 24 hours and fixed it at no extra charge. definitely use these guys for cracked windshields. read more

I've been sending my business to Lakeview glass prior until I meet these fine folks. Over at Lakeview I was use to shitty service, long wait times (a few weeks to a month), and no personal connection of a small business. Over at this place, I get too notch service - cheaper prices - and knowing I'm helping another small business keep the American dream alive! You can call in an order (be patient as usually it's 1 person in a small office), place your order, get a quote and there spot on when the piece will be done which is usually a day or two. Only down fall is they don't call you when it's ready but it's ok cause they are 100% right on for time frame when you place the order. Since switching from Lakeview Glass, I never looked back and my pocket has never been better with hundreds of saved dollars. read more

Brought two of my double paned windows from home this shop, they had lost their vacuum. Dropped them off at noon on day 1 and they were ready first thing the next morning. The owner let me know at drop off that there was a tint to the window that could be matched but would cost more. I received quotes from several people and got the best price from Accurate to replace the windshield on my Mazda, which had a giant crack in it. My husband and I brought the car in, ate at the West River Cafe around the corner, and wandered the neighborhood garage sales. After killing as much time as we could in the heat, we went back to Accurate to wait for them to finish the job. We really enjoyed hanging out with the owner, hearing stories about the neighborhood and his father, who started the business. And the windshield looks great. read more

We went there just so we could get a quote for repairing and art wall piece which had 3 glass pieces damaged when we moved just recently. Michael, who I believe is the owner, took care of us straight away! We got to the shop and he took a look at the piece, showed us what options he had available (the glass pieces that were damaged were kind of vintage looking, so finding an exact match would be impossible) that could best match what we needed, gave us a quote that we agreed on because it was a really good price, and then started working on it straight away! We thought we would leave the piece there and then pick it up some other day, but it took him like 40 minutes since we got there. We left with a huge grin as we got more from that visit than what we expected! And Michael did a great job and was very pleasant! He even gave us some spare pieces of glass (the pieces we needed were small ones) in case we needed some in the future. Accurate Glass Shop repaired the glass in our broken window in 24 hours when all of the other places we'd called quoted us a 10 day turn around. WOW! The service was amazing. We had a break in, and had to get a smashed window repaired ASAP. We started calling window/glass repair places and were repeatedly told that the job would take 10 days because they would have to order the glass. It seemed a little ridiculous to me that no one in the Chicago area could repair a broken window in less than 10 days! To add insult to injury, we were being quoted prices from $300 to $600 to repair a small (16" x 30") window! When we got in touch with Accurate, Mike came out to our house, took out the damaged window and had the repaired window reinstalled the next afternoon - all for $200. I really appreciate the speed and courtesy, which helped us get through a really stressful time. I highly recommend Accurate Glass Shop! read more
