Was excited to check this place out. We walked in and noticed it was quite busy for a Wednesday evening and they had one person working. While we waited the one employee did acknowledge that she would try to be with us, but never had time. That poor woman was doing everything. We left. Please do better with staffing!!! read more

The female working behind the bar is rude. Waited 30 minutes for her to take my order and when she finally decided to take my order, she asked me in a rude demeanor. If I knew what I wanted, I told her yes i've been knowing for the last past 30 minutes what I wanted. Then she rudely told me oh, you can get the fuck out of here. She takes her position way too seriously, and feels entitled to throw paying customers out just because she's having a bad day. The bouncer Jose Lopez needs to learn not to man handle a female especially if they're not resisting. Worst experience ever. Never have I ever been so mistreated. I was in Visalia for an event and wanted to find a bar to watch the ufc fight. They weren't showing it, but I watched it on my phone. They had the college football games on. We sat at the bar, and were helped quickly. The price for 2 beers was $10 which isn't bad. I think it turns into a "club" because there wasn't a lot of seating and there was a dj. The music the dj was playing wasn't my taste, but maybe they change genres throughout the night. Overall not a bad experience! read more

Since it's been renovated & gotten a fresh new look it has improved ten fold. I love that they have imported European beer & plenty of taps to choose from. Prices went up but the decor at Christmas looked great. They have tons of options to choose from and love how great it looks inside. read more

We had a nice time here on the make shift patio. There was a special on Coors Lights, which we definitely took part in! We were required to order food, so we ordered basic nachos. Our bartender was great. We were day drinking, while we were out of town. The drinks made for a nice nap after at our nearby hotel. We will definitely check this bar out again. Visalia Brewing Company has been there a long time. The atmosphere is very chill, the bartenders super friendly- once they notice you. For most people that's not very hard. But, having gone in twice now within the space of one week, there is a GIANT issue that has nothing to do with the food (Smith&Lakeys food is amazing), or service once the bartenders are made aware of your presence. But, being a wheelchair bound, service dog using disabled person I was absolutely appalled that there is not a single ADA compliant table in the entire place. There is one small section of bar that technically could be ADA compliant, but it's piled high with bar paraphernalia. There is a table way in the back passed the bar, near the kitchen, that's still a high top, but has benches that I could use as a table while my family ate on the actual table, or my husband could lift me up onto the bench, but it wasn't 100% safe for me, I ended up with quite the bruise from catching the corner with my hip. Then we had to try to signal, wave down, call for, and eventually one of our party had to leave the table to try to get the bartenders attention. Once they realized we were there, the service was fantastic. But, you would think that in 2024 they would realize that physically disabled people like to go out with family and friends too. I felt less than, unwelcome, and like I was a nuisance because I couldn't see over the bar, couldn't walk around to get their attention, and had to eat off a bench the first time and got hurt trying to be "normal" the second. The ADA is a federal law that provides that all public spaces be equipped for a disabled person. Even if it's just one table. Why hasn't VBC done this? read more

Terrible service !! We participated in the Visalia Beer crawl went to VBC as they were on the agenda the security guard was very rude . We asked where we could order our shooters he bluntly said they didn't care about our event. They only had one bartender and answered very rudely and aggressively ! Holy cow this place has some amazingly good food for a bar/pub went there today for the first time (I don't drink) had a pulled pork sandwich potato salad and beans the sandwich was super good so tender ton of flavor the sauce wasn't over powering really complimented the taste of the pork the onions were grilled until perfectly tender tiny bit of snap the bread was soft and perfectly chewy the potato salad was different but in a very good way not the normal potato salad had a strange taste can't pin point it but what ever it is was very good my fiancé got the pork and tots she loved it as well read more

This place is absolutely disgusting and makes you wish you hadn't come in. It offers you the displeasure of encountering server JR 22 who seems to be drunk and with a horrible attitude. On top of the horrible service, the place smells like urine and the ceiling fans make it so much worse. The whole ambience and negativity makes you not finish drinking the beer that you paid for because you want to throw up the whole time You are there. Everything makes you wonder the uncleanliness in which the employees handle the food, wash the glasses, etc. My advice is that you walk down or up the street to another establishment. REFRESHING My girlfriend and I stopped in here on our way back from a weekend in Sequoia National Park. It was a 90+ degree day and we were starvin' like Marvin. Visalia BrewCo not only has a great selection of beer, but sells cheaper than what I'm accustom to (being from LA and all). The blue cheese burger was delicious as well, although some regulars recommended trying the Thai Peanut sauce burger our next time there. The only bad thing is that this place is way up in Visalia. Would not come here again. Back in February I came with a girlfriend of mine. My iD had expired and due to COVID I couldn't go back and do the behind the wheel test because it was still closed. When I tried to set an appointment they wouldn't allow me to because everyone else had to have their appointments moved. The girl at the bar that was working said it was fine. We came the next day and she didn't ID us because she remembered us. Well I tried coming in 2 days ago and she was rude. She said she couldn't sell me a drink because it was expired. I told her "i was here with a friend a couple weeks back and you still gave me drinks" she then tried saying it wasn't her who had given us drinks. I then said " it was you because we kept leaving you $10 tips and even the kitchen guy remembered us here" I even showed her pictures of all the drinks she gave us because I had posted them to social media and she STILL said it wasn't her. she then said she couldn't give me a drink and rudely walked away. She was the bartender that sold to us. Every time we came she was the only girl behind the bar that was I'm sorry to say but the only Chinese/Asian and wore red lipstick every time. I just find it very unprofessional if she couldn't give me drinks then she shouldn't have done it in the beginning and then decide she couldn't later on. With there was a zero star to give to Geral P. Was here on a Monday night with minimal customers and the service was terrible by one of the bartenders who was extremely inattentive. We were attempting to wave a bartender over while he chatted with a coworker and rudely told my friend "i see you, calm down!" Just for trying to get a drink after waiting at the bar while he socialized. Terrible service will definitely not ever come back here and tell everyone i know to avoid Geral P. We were looking for a local beer and thought we'd try this "brewing company." Turns out it's just a bunch of taps. Here's how our conversation went with the bartender: Us: "do you have any of your own beers here?" Bartender: "no" Us: "anything local?" Bartender: "no" Us: "do you have a beer list?" Bartender: "no" Another patron: "there's one on the wall" Bartender: "oh no, that's really outdated, we don't even have half that stuff" Us: "oh, so what you see is what you get, huh?" I let the chef know there was a huge cockroach in the dining room, and he chose not to address the situation in any way. Overall, the place is arranged poorly, is outdated and dirty, has a strange funky smell to it, service is cheerless, has cockroaches, and I would not recommend eating or drinking anything that comes out of that kitchen. I would give less stars but thats impossible. I was on my phone trying to walk in when the bouncer held out his arm knocking me back. Being a 5'2" female I think a simple "theres a $5 cover charge and i need to see your ID" would have worked just fine. Use your words. Should I have been on my phone while trying to walk in? Probably not. But I don't think the snickers that followed me while I was walking out the door were warranted either. I tried to relay this message to the other bouncer then was told "it was my fault" because I "don't know how to listen". I'm on my way out the door when I'm told never to come back. WOW OK sooo... walking down main st back home and it looks like a ghost town... we were trying to avoid cover costs so we headed here... there were maybe like 10 people inside... (not like it was when i was in high school lol) it was already 11:30pm and the band was packing up.. so i said "hey lets see what else is open" as we were leaving i stopped in my tracks and i saw one of the band members, i kept starring and had to go back inside.... turns out it was a friend of mine from when i was in high school !!! i was so excited, so we decided to stay, have a few beers and hang out... it was Saturday Night... Long Necks were only 2.50 .... not to bad... we ended up having a few interesting conversations and i ended up being my best friends fiance' because guys kept hitting on her..(she already has a real fiance..larry ) and that always leads to "if you love her, why don't you kiss her then?!" Really!! i think men just wanna see girls kiss.. lol Its a small and narrow bar, but its very cozy in a good way.. the bartender chick was nice but scarce... the bathrooms are tiny!!!! but I'm only there to do my business... not take up camp so it works for me... The bouncers are nice until you make them mad.. dang they have a switch like no other!! thank goodness i was on their good side.. :) the unfortunate part is that towards closing people get a little annoying and hostile.... the bar around the corner had all kinds of fights break out inside and out side in the alley... we were sitting out front trying to sober up before going home and some chick walked by and i said "oh, i know that girl" she flipped out saying i didn't know her , and that she was from Monterrey!! lol like that's supposed to scare me or something! haha that's like saying.. "Oh I'm from Scottsdale" hahahahahaha so by the time she was in my face i just said, "OK fine, i don't know you" and she just stared at me.. they HIT me in the side of my face! ran back to her car and tried to find her keys.... i couldn't move... i was shocked.. I was visiting friends in Visalia and had never heard of this place before. They said they come here all the time for karaoke which is always entertaining. The bartender with the gray mid drift shirt was absolutely awful, rude, judgmental and unsanitary. I'm a bartender as well so I caught a lot of things about this place that just made me cringe. She was unfriendly, my friend asked if she could get lemons in her Irish trashcan and the bartender questioned her. (judgmental) I witnessed the bartender, when asked by a customer if she could use the same glass, she again gave them a judgmental answer of "Uhh, okay?" Customers don't like to feel stupid - which is what can happen with those types of comments. She was very flustered by all the commotion, but at the same time, just putting a smile on your face will get you so many better results. I ordered a Jameson/coke and I couldn't even tell if there was any alcohol in the drink or not. My friends waited over 15 minutes for a drink and the bar only had maybe 15 people sitting at it, some who had already been served. Now for the unsanitary portion. I saw the bartender use soda water to clean out the shaker, throw that out and then began to make a new drink in the shaker. (Gag) And then I saw her use the glasses to scoop out the ice directly from the ice bins instead of using a scoop. Another gag moment. The chalkboard said $4 shots. All of a sudden they went to $5. Yes, not technically a huge difference, but it's still deceiving. The reasoning for the change was: "Because it's now Monday." It was after midnight. No offense, that is a stupid reason, but regardless the chalkboard should have been changed. It takes a handful of seconds. So as a result of this, one of my friends ordered a shot, and only holding $4, came to find out she needed another dollar. The bartender said, "Bring me another dollar." and let my friend take the shot with her. My friend easily could have stolen from them and not paid the last dollar because she took the shot with her. What the bartender should have done was held onto the shot until my friend came back with enough money. Yes, I completely understand that you are busy and maybe you aren't used to it, but it's your job to service the people. Not the other way around. I'm glad I don't live around there because I would never return. Lastly, the women's bathroom smelled like that time of the month. I wanted to throw up. That was disgusting. This place is pretty cool and was in a good spot for lots of foot traffic, but that was just an overall bad experience. The karaoke DJ was awesome though. Keep him around! read more

Somewhat confusing; despite the name this place does not seem to brew their own beer. They do have, however, a large selection of beers on draft, somewhere around 24 are available at any time. Specials change daily; Monday is margaritas and Tuesday is $2 drafts. Which is notable in that beers are never much more than $5 anyway; coming from DC I was very surprised to hear the bartender referring to $5 beer as an expensive option. So hooray for good, inexpensive beer. They have a weird relationship with Steve's Place. I think Steve's Place is the kitchen contained within VBC. Or VBC is the bar within Steve's Place. In any case, they serve some pretty good food. Try their blackberry hot sauce. read more

First of all, this place has good potential but could use a makeover. It REALLY needs to be on that Bar Rescue show. I've been in Visalia my whole life and had never been to VBC. Some friends from out of town were here over the weekend and I decided to take them somewhere different for lunch, so we decided to check this place out. We sat at a table against one wall, and a group of guys were sitting at a table against the opposite wall. After a few minutes a bartender called out to the guys and said "Hey you know you order your food over here right??" The guys didn't know and neither did we. I called back "No...no we didn't know but thanks..." She had no clue we were there too. Based on the layout of the bar, I'm not surprised she didn't know we were there because she couldn't really see our table, let alone anyone who walks in the door. We all got up to go order at the bar, and I decided I just wanted something light so I asked what the soup of the day was (...since soup was offered on the menu...). She said they didn't have any soup. Oh...ok no problem. I also noticed on the menu that they have a 2 for $4 deal on weekends for pulled pork sliders. That sounded good to me so I ordered that. She said they didn't have any pork either. Alright...well...crap. So she said she was gonna go back and find what they actually DO have. She said they could do a beef slider if I wanted that. Ok cool I'm good with that. I asked if it could come with BBQ sauce and no onions, which she said that was fine...but then told me to go ahead and stick my head in the kitchen and just tell the cook how I wanted it made. Ummm really?? At that point I half expected her to say I could go in the kitchen and make it myself. The bartender was quite nice....just not very professional at all. I was in Visalia for three weeks for business. Being far away from home, it was nice to find a place to hang out where it was easy to strike up a combination with both the folks working here as well as the patrons, most of which were locals. Note: This is a joint. It is not a place to be seen, nor is it a fashionable hangout. It is a small, narrow, sometimes crowded joint in which I had a kick hanging out. It reminded me of a place I frequented as a college student (more than a few years ago), so that may have played a part in my embrace of VBC. The bartender Sabrina knows all the beers very well and can offer up some great new selections for you! I came here by myself and with varying combinations of coworkers who were also in town to work on a project with me. We typically only came in for a beer or two per visit, and VBC has a plentiful supply of unique and delicious brews. We even stayed one night for karaoke - fun, if maybe not totally in tune! They also have a digital jukebox with some fun, outstanding songs. TIP: 3 Words - Two Dollar Tuesdays! We tried some outstanding premium brews for the seriously inexpensive price of $2 a pint. Very good thing that our hotel was within walking distance: only 3 blocks away! We did not try the food here. Two things I would recommend would be a chalkboard or something to write a list of all the beers that are currently available, and more importantly, hire a pest control person to spray for bugs. A week ago I counted five cockroaches and miscellaneous other bugs climbing around on the bar and wall. Today I've only seen two small roaches. So I guess that's an improvement, right? read more

I've been to the VBC twice and both times it was to see my boyfriend"s band. I live in LBC so finding a little bar where good beer is cheap and the patrons are chill made me feel right at home. I hear the food is pretty good but I've never tried it. It's a narrow bar and there is usually a line for the bathroom. I hear you have to wait forever for a drink but I had no problem getting Newcastle after Newcastle. All in all, I liked it. Not sure what it's like when there isn't live music but based on what I heard on the jukebox before the band started (Sublime & Slayer) I don't think I'd be in there too often. I give this place a fucken 0.5 because the prices are ok but they are racist, I tried playing a Spanish song on their I tunes, and they blocked all Spanish songs to be played at this place. I will never come here again and give them any business and I will spread the word to all my friends. Majority of people are Hispanics and we all like to listen to Spanish music when we drink.
