I called Viscount Canton to replace my 18' pool liner. Brady gave me their email address so I could schedule the replacement. I sent pictures and wrote that I have an 18' above ground pool that is 52" high. I wrote that I didn't know the model or the type because my husband took that info when he passed away last year. Kenn Schmitz replied that I may have a 54" wall and there is typically 2" of sand under the liner. I asked if it would be possible for someone to come look at it first. He replied 2 days later "Sorry, it's not a style of pool and installation that we are used to working with and suggested Pool Town or Watson." What??? Nice, friendly service until you commit to a purchase. Then they treat you like an annoyance. Last summer I bought an above-ground pool for my new house. I shopped around a little but since I live in Canton, I like to support local businesses. So I decided to buy my pool from Viscount. Bad idea. Our salesman was also some sort of manager at the store, and always seemed like he would rather be doing anything else than helping me. He was friendly enough up front, before we signed the contract for the pool + install + extras ($4,500 total). He called me back to follow up a few times while we were trying to make up our minds. Once my pen hit that paper though, things changed. All of a sudden, I couldn't get him to return my phone calls. When I showed up at the store, he alternated between being overly patronizing and smugly arrogant toward me. Only after I signed everything was it revealed that parts of my pool were on backorder, and would be 2 weeks. I mean 3 weeks. I mean 5 weeks. Then what? I get to wait for the installer. The installer they use is so booked that you need to schedule weeks in advance, but he won't give you a date until you actually have all of the pool pieces sitting in your yard. I'm not knocking the installer, he did a great job, and the install was the best thing about the whole experience. But the staff at Viscount were less than helpful during the process, and downright rude at times. There's nothing like spending almost $5,000 at a local business and being told "there's nothing I can do about that" or "I can't help you with that." For example, the plastic base of the filter motor arrived broken. I called them to get a new one. Their response? "That part doesn't really matter, you could try to glue it." Their follow up? "We can't order just that one piece, we'd have to order a whole new filter." I'm addition, after the pool was delivered but before it was installed, I learned that the survey of my property was incorrect - there is apparently an invisible easement across the back of my yard, right where I intended to put the pool. My only choice now was to install right basically right next to my house, which was a horrible spot. I called the manager and explained the situation to him, and I even offered to pay up to a 20% restocking fee, which on a $3,600 pool amounted to $720 to have them essentially drop off some boxes in my yard and then pick them up again. However, he was much more interested in trying to "upsell" much more expensive half-buried installations which would void the warranty of my pool than he was in working to resolve the problem; that I now had no good spot to put this thing. 20% for a restocking fee is above the retail standard and I felt that $720 to drop these parts off and then pick them up and cancel the order was not an unreasonable request. But because I had signed a contract at the store, he preferred to pretend that there was absolutely nothing that could be done in the matter and refused to let me return the pool and pay him $720 for his troubles. Well, congratulations, Viscount. You made the sale at any cost. You win. It doesn't matter that I will never set foot in that store again - or that I tell my friends and family and everyone else that will listen what a lousy experience it was dealing with you. You made the sale, and in the end that's all that matters. read more

This place is totally awesome. Super helpful staff walked me through a lesson of maintaining spa chemicals for my hot tub. Even used a sharpie on each chemical bottle with proper dosage and how often as a cheat sheet for me. read more

My mom hired them to open her pool and clean it. She did not ask what services are included in a pool opening. Viscount came out and all they did was remove the cover and they said the flushed the filter, which it turns out wasn't working. They didn't clean or vacuum the pool. The cost was $300 in cash only. We had to call another service to come and vacuum and clean it for another $300. This new pool company told us the filter pump wasn't working. So basically she paid just to have the cover removed and cleaned. Be sure to ask what services are included in a fee! read more

They were wonderful during the sale process. But, being a first time pool owner, I found managing the water chemistry and the filter maintenance difficult. Terrible experience! I made a purchase over the phone based off the recommendations of the owner / salesperson. I purchased a pool liner for a above ground pool with 54 walls. I was asked what type of liner I needed , I explained I wasn't sure . I was advised that a overlap would work for what I needed. I was called a week later because there was a small issue with the purchase I made. They didn't have the liner I bought but they did have one the same size just a different pattern. No big deal. So I picked up my new liner that said it was for walls 48" to 52 ". So I asked the obvious question. Will this work for my 54" wall pool? I was told that it would. ( I know dumb consumer trusting the professional) So I asked the next obvious question if I have problems with this can I return it? I was told " Just make sure you keep the receipt ". By now I'm sure you can guess what happened. Yup I couldn't get it installed. When I called back I spoke with the owner who advised me that I should have read the receipt that told me all sales are final. Then he went on the tell me that he or no one in his store would ever tell someone that they could return a liner that's been opened. ( Well sir , ya did ). He told me if I were a professional it would have work but it didn't because I didn't know what I was doing. The conversation ended with him hanging up on me. However get did call back to offer me an opportunity to purchase a different liner at cost and gave me some advise on installing it successfully. read more

Hired them to open my pool for $300. Basically all they did was take off the cover of my pool and said they couldn't figure out how to connect my filter. Actually told me it was broke ( which it is not) so after paying $300 to have a cover taken off and calling back they told me that's all opening a pool consists of is them taking off the cover and connecting the filter. After explaining that they didn't even connect the filter no one offered to come back out or give me back my money. Mind you they were here less than an hour. So now i have a sad 4 year old and a pool i had to fill myself and figure out the filter myself. Still not swimmable which I know you have to shock it and the whole nine yards. Downriver pool was booked which is the only reason i took the recommendation. If you only want your cover taken off and to throw $300 in the garbage than this is the pool service for you ! read more

having read the sad account of AW's experience with Viscount Pools It seems only fair to have an alternate view presented. I have purchased two pools from Viscount and have had excellent service during the 5 years that we have been enjoying our pool. The folks at the Canton store of Viscount have always been courteous, friendly, and certainly knowledgeable concerning the usage and care of our pool. We use them to open and close each season and thanks to good equipment have had no down time and a pool that is always sparkling clean.
