    Two 20x40 tarps, unused and unopened.

    Vision Ace is the place with the unhelpful hardware folks. I've been going to this place for years as a friendlier and more practical alternative to some larger hardware stores. In the preparation for Hurricane Milton, I went there to buy tarps for my in-laws, who were out of the country, whose house was to be flooded, and whose old tarps seemed lost. (I was aware of the no-return "hurricane item" policy of course.) Soon thereafter, the old tarps were found. After the hurricane, I brought these new ones, unused and unopened, back, hoping to try to negotiate an exception to the no-return policy, albeit prepared for failure. The manager with whom I spoke was so self-righteous ("SIR, that's the policy") and self- pitying ("how do you think I feel?"), however, that it was obnoxious. He told me, brusquely, to "go contact corporate if you don't like it," which I did, only for them to unhelpfully reconnect me to this store. I knew I wasn't going to get a different answer, and was apologetic to the manager for wasting his time, but even so he was more self-righteous and self-pitying than before. (I spoke with some other employee first, "Paul" or "Robert" maybe was his name, who was downright rude to me. "I've got a customer right in front of me!" Well, I called corporate customer service, not you.) I understand it's their policy, but for one, it's a foolish and wasteful policy. These are unused items in demand that they could resell. For another, I'm in business myself, and I know that exceptions to any policy can always be made so long as the will is there, so please spare me the condescension. I have half a mind to walk in and plop the tarps down on the counter and leave just to make a point, because despite their pious protestations about how they're oh so sorry that they just can't accept returns, I know they'd put those items back on the shelf to resell. Whatever. It'll be awhile before I'm willing to go back there again, if ever, after being subjected to such condescension from the management. What I liked about the store was its customer service, but if they're going to act like that, then I might as well go to another hardware store with just as poor customer service but at least a better selection.

    Me, myself & I, think Ace Hardware is a great option for shoppers. Seldom do I have the patience to park, & go through a big box store. I am lost as soon as I walk in, I want something simple & don't need or want to learn how to build a toilet to buy a plunger. Nor do I want to wait 30 minutes for the paint/ key person to get to me to make a key. Ace, usually park at door, super helpful & take you right to what you are looking for. Clean stores, well staffed & knowledgeable staff. Store is well stocked & items are easy to find. Quick check out, I love it! What's a girl to do? Save time for something else & keep your sanity, try out Ace!

    Beware of them over charging for thier products.. Went in today and bought two 98 cent PVC caps and cashier tried to charge me $3.88

So Lowe's to the rescue! We got our first unit for the living room pronto. I didn't know much about portable units, so my partner and I got some help from one of the employees who was actually not only empathetic, but was able to answer all our questions and give recommendations about what would be the best choice for us. We left buying one fan and a new portable unit for the living room, which is currently still running strong so we're not sweating and suffocating. Fast forward a few weeks later... I have to buy ANOTHER unit for just the bedroom as we haven't been running the apartment's unit AT ALL due to it plain not working as well as leaking. Back to Lowe's we go! We had two other very helpful employees assist us on getting a clamp for the hose as well as a new smaller unit for the bedroom. I love how the employees were friendly and took their time explaining the warranties and protection plan to make sure we get the most out of our purchase. I'm happy to say we're no longer sweating and dying at our apartment thanks to Lowe's!

    I purchased forty bags of play sand from Lowe's, including delivery services arranged and paid for…read morethrough Lowe's. Lowe's subcontracted the delivery to RXO (formerly XPO Logistics), whose driver caused over a grand in property damage to three separate properties on November 11th, 2025, as well as almost hit my neighbor. The driver was uncommunicative, had to be flagged down from leaving the scene, and did not speak a word of English. Property 1 received massive tree damage that required removal. The driver also damaged the mailbox. The mailbox at Property 2 was completely flattened. Property 3 received damage to the mailbox and the rock structure around the mailbox. I included pictures of all properties, as well as receipts for the damage, and even pictures of pieces of the truck that the driver left: again, that's literal pieces. Despite Lowe's direct role in arranging and profiting from the delivery, most of their representatives have repeatedly attempted to shift responsibility to RXO, directing me to contact their representative or speaking with them on my behalf. I received most of it after threatening to take them to small claims court but am still waiting on $150. Meanwhile, do you think this asshole company offered me even a coupon after all this? No - Well congrats, you lost a customer and I share this story whenever I can. Way to embody everything people hate about large companies. To RXO - eff you for putting unsafe drivers on the road. I hope your business fails.
