Had my eyes examined at Vision Source Magnolia a little less than a year ago. My new glasses took nearly a month to arrive. When I tried them on, I voiced my skeptacism and that they were no better than my old glasses which were nearly 4 years old. I agreed to give them a try. Over next months, I went back twice to express my dissatisfaction and each time my concerns were dismissed and I was told there was nothing they could do. After getting tired of carrying around multiple pairs of reading glasses of various powers so I could actually see clearly, I sent my progressive lens prescription to Warby Parker. In less than a week to send me a brand new pair of glasses for less than half of what Vision Source had charged me. When I tried on the WarbyParker glasses I was immediatly shocked about the increased clarity at distance and up close. The fact that the Warby Parker glasses were so much better using the same prescription that Vision Source provided me, tells me that whoever Vision Source used to make my glasses produced a substandard product and Vision Source Magnilia does not stand behind their product. Absolutely fantastic. The name VisionSource! gives off the appearance of a national chain, and while it is a franchise, this is a small office with incredible customer service. New patients can have their paperwork emailed to them so they can have them completed before their arrival. No sitting in the waiting room for 15 minutes uncomfortably filling out paperwork. Once you walk in, help yourself to freshly baked cookies and coffee. Kelly takes you back quickly and performs the premilinary vision and glaucoma tests. After a few minutes, you're back in the exam room, where Dr. K takes great care in gathering all aspects of your health and how they might relate to your vision. The equipment is state of the art and the whole exam process takes about 15-20 minutes. My last contact lenses were so uncomfortable that I quit wearing them. I still have boxes at home. After talking with Dr. K, he asked if I'd reconsider contacts if he could guarantee their comfort. I agreed and he put me in the most comfortable lenses I've ever worn. While my eyes were adjusting to the new lenses, I went out and talked to Marsha about my choices. She took careful consideration in making sure that all my bases were covered based upon my insurance benefits. She had a coupon available, making a one year supply of lenses completely affordable. I had a special request for frames after seeing a pair that I really liked, but were a bit too small for my giant melon. She saw that the particular pair I wanted did not come in a larger size, but she was going to special order a pair of frames based on a photograph I showed her on my phone. The service was above and beyond my expectations! Dr. K was very attentive and made sure that I had all the information necessary to make an informed decision on eyewear. He also asked several times if I had any questions about the exam or the lenses. I went to this doctor on my husband's recommendation and I enjoyed every bit of the experience!!! I've been wearing glasses for a few years now and this was by far the best Optometrist and eyewear experience I've had in Texas! The doctor was great & explained everything as we went along. He was very nice, thorough & knowable about everything eye related. And BEST OF ALL my prescription in, two pair of glasses IS PERFECT!!! I haven't been able to say that in over a year! I stopped in here for the first time today in need of new eyeglasses, new lenses for my sunglasses and reading glasses. We were greeted right away and asked what I needed help with and pointed to some eyeglasses to look at. We were walking around looking and a lot of he frames were locked up with no one really acting like they cared we were there. After 10 min finally someone said they would be with us but we couldn't try to pick out any frames while waiting so we left. An amazing experience! From the time I walked into the door the front desk girl was amazing. I had an appointment earlier that day at a different doctor and did not have a great experience. I called Vision Source last minute hoping to get a second opinion on some things the last eye doctor told me. They were able to get me in the same day! The doctor clarified everything and made me feel so welcome. She was so understanding and patient with my confusion between insurance and what the last place had told me. I was able to order contacts & glasses for half the price the previous place quoted me. Okay, here's the problem. I called Vision Source earlier today (because I am self insured) to find out how much a contact lens exam for a new patient would cost. I was quoted $70, so I went ahead and set up the appointment. Imagine my shock when after the exam I was presented with a bill for $240. Hmmm, that's a far cry from the price I was quoted over the phone. When I asked the receptionist how the bill could possibly be so much, she said that since I am a new patient, the exam was $160, then they charged me $45 for a refraction, and $59 for a script and fit. Seriously?! I have never been charged for each part of an eye exam like that before! Plus, to charge a patient separately and not tell them ahead of time is just insane. I am a newly single mom and I really do not appreciate what I feel to be deceptive business practices. I left the office in tears. Yes, they were friendly, yes, they had cookies out front. The Best Experience Ever! The Vision Source! A new out look for an eye examination and total eye care. I had called around to see if any vision care place takes my insurance that is Eye Med, but I found only this place around Magnolia area who takes EyeMed. My insurance was already checked and was explained to me in detailed about the coverage. I got my paper work filled out in not more than five minutes. The staff is great. They greeted me with a warm smile and offered me a fresh baked cookies along with freshly brewed coffee.Corvette took me into the preliminary exam. She gathered all my health and eye history. Then I went back in the exam room, where Dr. Kankaria was very thorough with the exam. The equipment is state of the art. Then I came out to talk to Caroline about my Glasses and Contact lenses. This is my first time wearing progressive glasses. She explained how progressive glasses work. She explained me about all the add ons on the lenses and why they are so important. Also, I got my one year supply of multifocal contact lenses where I got cash back rebate. After the glasses were made, Corrine helped me with adjustment and also taught me how to use them. I am really happy with my first pair of progressive glasses. They went all the way out to find a pair of sunglasses that I really liked. I definitely DO NOT recommend this eye doctor. My last eye doctor without insurance was a hundred dollars less than this place. I went in my first day asked how much it would be they said "ohh your insurance should cover it" Afterwards they tell me I owe them two hundred something dollars?! I went there for 5 months and they STILL have not gotten my prescription correct! We are a military family so now we are moving and I have no contacts. Also, after having to bring it up many times I finally talked to the doctor and was told I had been over charged $173! If I hadn't known something was up I would have been out all that money. Carolyn (The manager I believe) said on many times she would call me and let me know when my contacts were in so I could try them on...never received any calls. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

My wife needed glasses since she is in her late 40's. The doctor here is really nice and does a good job explaining the vision issues, the catch is that he recommends "progressive" lenses which are expensive and only a small portion is covered by insurance. She went with his advice and when the glasses came back from the lab, two thing were wrong, first, one of the lenses was tinted, the other was not. That is rather funny and stupid at the same time. But second the lenses were not lined up right and she can only see doubles in her vision. She took the glasses back after calling and informing Vision Source on that Friday when she received the glasses, she was asked by Vision Source to try it for the weekend and come in next week if not improved. Not sure how you can improve one tinted lenses over a weekend, but anyway, on Monday, back to the Vision Source counter and the girl says that the prescription is right and there is nothing they can do about it, but they will send them back to get the correct tint on both lenses. Well, this is not acceptable, she is seeing double vision, how can the prescription and lineup be right. My wife said she'd go back with the bifocal glasses then if that is the way it is, so we need refunded for the difference of the lenses, NOPE. Vision Source says that cannot be done, we already paid and there is no way to get the refund. What? We go to this store to get glasses to see better and leave with glasses that make you see double. What kind of business does that. I do NOT recommend this company for that reason. The doctor is excellent, but his business practices are extremely poor. Will not go back. read more
