My wife recently went to Visonworks and wrote this review for me to post: I went into Visionworks with a prescription from an outside specialist. The office was busy! I signed in and waited to be called. When I was called I quickly realized I signed in on the wrong sheet. I went over to the front desk, gave my name, insurance information and copy of prescription. I was called about 15 minutes later. I had already picked out four frames. Amber Hall asked me... what do you like or dislike about these frame? Then she said, Hey, let's go looking around and try some frames on. During that time she asked, what's your favorite color? I said, Green! We found several green frames in different styles. She spent time to help me feel comfortable! She went over frame-by-frame, she discussed all options with me, she was friendly and kind, allowing me to trust her, but ultimately she allowed me to make my own decision! I feel like customers here are like a herd of cattle getting as many of us in here as possible. I used to love this place feeling like I got individual attention when I was being seen from start to finish. Now you are just shuffled in and shuffled out. When it comes to things like medical needs and in my opinion vision is a medical necessity I just feel like your doctor, sales employee, and even your scheduler should be a little more personal and one on one to ensure your needs are being met. Other getting my eyes examined I could have the same shopping experience on their website and wouldn't have to be stuck inside their already over crowded patient/ customer lobby. read more

We have coming to the Elizabethtown location for few years and service have been good. We visit the office once a year for our annual eye exam and when we had any eye issues. My last experience on this location due to an eye infection-was not their best. It's easy to make an appointment (when they answer the phone) or you could do it as a walk in. For this occasion I was seen by Doctor Matthew Duggar . After a week not seeing any improvement, made another appointment but since he was not available, so I was seen by doctor Sarah Borders-which I have seen her before and liked very much! She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She recommended to come back and do a follow up! On my 3rd time been at this location -since my eye infection-I noticed that while I was waiting to be seen, the phone rang and rang and nobody answered it! -even though they didn't have any customers. The phone was totally ignored by the staff. Very disappointed seeing this. I hope this improves! read more

You had 1 month to look up benefits & want to wait til today & say you cannot do it; therefore need "kid" to reschedule after we got up & came in at scheduled appt. time. The other kids as well as myself have moved onto greener pastures at Borders EyeCare Specialists. After over 20 years of using your office, you have lost 5 patients. And quite possibly the other 3 patients who were dismissed as nonchalantly as we were this morning. There was no concern that she needed her exam done today so she could order her contacts. Was told my daughters glasses would be ready in 30 minutes. After an hour and a half we went in to see if they were ready. The woman who was behind the desk looked at me and in a shitty tone said you have to sign in. I said I'm sorry I just needed to see if the glasses are ready. She looked at me and in the same tone of voice said they will text you when they are ready and turned her back and walked away. Not only was this lady very rude she also did not look professional at all. She was wearing a t shirt that looked like it came from the bottom of a dirty clothes hamper and was totally disheveled. I've been coming here for years and the service and staff has been great every time so I'm not sure why some people are complaining, probably the same ones who complain about everything and are impossible to please, you clowns know who you are. I went yesterday to order new contacts and get a new pair of glasses because my old ones finally broke after 8 years. They were fairly busy but managed to get me in and out in about an hour. As usual, the staff were very nice and friendly. I noticed last night when I finally took my contact out and put my new glasses on, there were light scratches on mostly on the right lens but a little on the left one as well. So this morning I drive back to the store when they opened at 9, walked in and they saw to me right away. I have no idea how it works but I figured they could polish the scratches out or something. Instead, they put brand new lenses in for free! Yeah, I had to wait about 45 minutes but no big deal. That's pretty good service! Thank you visionworks! Called Vision Works for an emergency eye appointment because the Robley Rex VA Hospital would not see me because I cannot wear a mask due to respiratory health reasons I have from my 20 years in the US Navy. We talked with Jennifer on the phone and she talked with the Doctors and management and they all graciously, after hearing my story about the VA refusing me service, told me that they would see me that same day, 6/23/2020. Once there they all took great care of me and got me into the exam room within 10 minutes of my arrival. Doctor Borders diagnosed me with a bacterial infection. She promptly wrote me a prescription and requested me to come back on Friday for a follow-up. I can't say enough about the entire staff at the Elizabethtown Vision Works, they took care of a disabled Veteran when the VA in Louisville would not. They were courteous, graceful, respectful, caring, professional and all around just wonderful. I highly recommend them. Had an appointment today for myself and my wife. Both needed eye exams and glasses. Dr Sara Border(so?) did the exams on both of us. Progressional, thorough, friendly and easy to understand. Donna Mattingly was our retail person. Super helpful. Knew what we needed and appeared to be looking out for our best interests as we travelled the maze of discounts options and the like. I would have given 5 stars except they had to order my lenses and said it could be up to 14 days. Other than that I thought everything was very good. I walked in, no appointment and had an eye exam within 30 minutes. They told me about an online coupon I could pull up on my phone so the exam would only be $39. Let me know about the Buy One Get Free which let me get 2 pairs of glasses for less than I spent on my last single pair from somewhere else. read more

Today my fiancé and I went for him to get an eye exam and fitted for glasses. This was the worst experience I have ever had at an eye doctor. We spent 4 hours waiting . The only things that I can think of to compare this place to is the DMV or the social security office. I will not be returning here any time soon. read more

They have always taken great care of me here. I have no complaints at all. You do wait a few minutes but I always have something to read with me and that keeps me occupied until it is my turn. Very quick turn around on having my glasses ground and they did a wonderful job fitting me. read more

Appointments are pointless....because you will have to wait an hour regardless. Employees were friendly, however they need to learn how to schedule appointments or not take walk-ins too. We spent over 90min for one annual kids vision screening. There were walk-ins who came in after us being seen before we were seen and we had an appointment and we got there 15min early. read more

I finally got new glasses; I really needed them. This place was pretty busy when I went, but I'm not sure if that's the norm. I saved about $150 dollars by asking for a discount. I used my Kentucky Farm Bureau member discount, they offer a few different discounts so just ask (AAA too). My glasses came in a few days early which was nice. I have a few pits in one of the lenses so I have to take them back. read more

What they fail to tell you is they treat you like scum,, they take every single person no matter what time their appointment is before the walk in. The general manager is rude. My wife and I walked into the place with my daughters. My wife had a drink with her, the manager very loudly drew attention to the fact that there is no food or drink allowed in here. That is fine if you have that policy but there is a way that you can respectfully convey this message. This was not the case. The way she came across was as if she was in a position of authority and we need to yield to her will. As for the rest of the experience, don't let the website fool you. The picture on the site is of the showroom. What is not in the picture is the waiting area. There are 19 chairs that are crammed into a very small seating area. The waiting room was clearly an afterthought. I had an appointment for 5:45 and here we are at 6:15 and still no word as to when my girls will be seen. I went up the front desk to voice my concerns. The people behind the desk seem nice enough and sincerely wanted to help but after the treatment that we received upon entry to the store, the lack of organization and, respect for my time I choose to take my business elsewhere. It is unfortunate that this manager has to be the way she is with the customers. Maybe she does not know any better or maybe she does. Either way she should not be the face that greets the public. Keep her behind the scenes or find someone that understands respect for the customer and understanding that the customer has the right to take their business anywhere they want. read more

Although the 2nd time we came they wouldn't let us inside because "we weren't the ones being seen and they have limited capacity". So if your coming with someone else for their appointment, don't. Being a customer for 26 years. When they was even dr bizers. Worst customer service ever.. first off i been having trouble for years with them. And not just me people i know. Second i go in for an eye exam. They dont do my contact also which i worn for 20 years from them. Try charge me double for contact exam. One for glasses one for contacts. Then when my glasses fell apart in a few days they tryied to blame me on dropping thwm when i babied those glasses cause they was new.. and gave me back a pair and didnt want to fit them. They told me its law requiring me to pay a 59 dollar fee for contact fitting class when i been wearing them fir 20 years i called arpund there is no law. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND RUDE!!! so my husband and my daughter go there for her appt. When they arrive my husband who has a medical condition and really can't be wearing a mask is trying to put his on. The woman at the door tells him he has to go back outside and put it on. He said no he isn't going to do that he had it on by then. Well his nose was still exposed and the woman would not let him in stating IT"S POLICY that his mask had to on correctly. So he told my daughter he would be in the car and wait for her. They told me about the experience and I was a little upset since we had just been there a month prior and there were people inside that had no masks on, kids running around etc. So I called and spoke to the "manager" Cindy who told me "it's policy that he had to have the mask" etc... and cited the CDC. I corrected her and said the CDC states if you have a medical condition and cannot wear a mask you do not have to wear it. "Well then he would of been given a card to call." she says A card? well he wasn't given anything and besides we were just there a month ago and no one said anything to him. "Well things have changed since last month" she replied. Needless to say I got in contact with corporate and the DM called me. Very nice and Very apologetic for the mishap. Unfortunately though everything was smoothed over my husband is not about to go back and spend money in an establishment that kicks you out. My daughter also refuses to go back since she was pretty upset about they kicking her father out . I don't understand people are stressed out enough why add fuel to the fire? read more

I went to Dr. Bizers Vision World two weeks ago to get new glasses and I still don't have a pair of glasses I can see properly out of. I ordered two pairs. One pair was to have "no glare" coating, while the other pair was supposed to have "Transition" lenses. I was told both pairs would take about a week, but they would provide me with a "loaner" set of lenses for the first set of frames I chose. Six days later, I got a call saying my glasses were ready. When I went to pick them up, they told me only the second pair was ready. The replacement lenses for the "loaner" pair were not ready yet. Since the "loaner" lenses made me sick when I wore them, I was very grateful for anything to wear. The girl who waited on me made no effort to make sure they fit me properly, as she was too busy talking to the guy standing next to me. I was in a hurry and eventually grew weary of trying to vie for her attention, so I tooke the glasses and went on my way. While driving down the road, I realized I didn't receive the "Transition" lenses I had paid for. I made the decision to continue using the glasses until my other lenses came in, then ask them to supply the coating as ordered. Although I never received another call telling me that my lenses were ready, I decided that two weeks was ample time, and returned to the store to see if the replacement lenses were ready. At the same time, I informed the technician that the pair I was wearing not only didn't have the coating I ordered, but the nose pieces were not adjusted properly and were causing me considerable discomfort. He took the glasses with the "loaner" lenses and said he would deal with the ones I was wearing in a minute. He informed me that he would have to cut the new lenses to fit my frames and it would take about five minutes. I took a seat and was called back to the counter a few minutes later. He handed me the glasses that were supposed to have the new lenses in them and asked me to try them to see how they feel. I told him that they seemed OK, but that they weren't quite the same. I added that the real test would be in whether I could see my computer screen with them, as I was not able to see it at all with the "loaner" lenses. He then asked me to see my receipt again, to confirm that I had paid for "Transition" lenses. I showed it to him and he seemed satisfied, so I put it away. He then again asked to see my receipt. I got it back out and showed it to him again. He reviewed it for the third time, and then asked if he could keep it. I told him he could have a copy. He made the copy and said he would put it with my glasses to ensure that I got them back. I asked if he would promise to call me this time. He said he would. By the time I got home, I was somewhat sick to my stomach, and getting suspicious about the lenses I was wearing. Imagine my surprise when the message on my answering machine was from the technician I had just left. He informed me that he just happened to have an extra set of lenses with my prescription and that he had applied the "Transitions" coating. I could pick them up any time! I sat down to use my computer and could not see my screen. The harder I tried, the more sick I became. It became glaringly apparent that he had applied the non glare coating to the "loaner lenses" and used my new lenses to correct the other pair. For this, I was charged $477.00. I'll be returning to get my money back tomorrow. I'll take my business to someone more reputable. read more

After seeing the same doctor here for years, I have decided it is time to move on. I tried to purchase glasses. They kept stretching out and giving me a headache. I was told I could return them w/in 30 if not satisfied to any Dr Bizers. That turned out not so true. After trying to return them to the Louisville store with no success, I came back to the Elizabethtown store. She was nice about the return until we got to the card part. Since my card was cancelled because of the whole Target issue this Christmas, they would not issue the return until they call the card company and get the old card number. They have to issue the return to the old card?? I call bullshit on that. These people have several stores and computer systems, yet none of them employees know how to use them properly or they r so outdated, it is a disgrace! read more

While the doctors are nice, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. My eye doctor retired, so I was forced to try someplace new. For insurance reasons, we went to Dr. Bizer's. You feel like you're on an assembly line for glasses. Even though I had an appointment, I still had to wait 45 minutes. When with the doctors & opticians, we felt very rushed. Because of this, I opted not to purchase our family's glasses there and decided to shop around. They filed with our insurance company that we purchased glasses, even though we didn't! They also told my son, that the brand of contacts he wears was discontinued. I found out that they weren't, they just didn't carry that brand and kept trying to sell me on a different brand. How much of it is flat out dishonesty and how much is disorganization, I don't know. I just know we will go somewhere else in the future for better, honest service without the long waits. read more

I had been here a few years before, when it was Dr. Bizer's, and I was not pleased. My husband just had his checkup here, though, and he had a great experience, so I tried it too. It was indeed great! The name is now Vision Works, and it looks/smells 100% better (the carpet before smelled old). I made an appointment, but they take walk-ins, so I was prepared to wait a little. It wasn't long before my name was called. The doctor was really nice, and he found that my old doctor had given me a stronger Rx than what I needed. No wonder I've had eye strain so badly at the end of the day! I left there with two boxes of contacts and a trial of a cleaner the doctor recommended (which, by the way, makes my contacts soooo comfy!). I was told that any follow-up visits were free, so I can get my new Rx checked to make sure it's suiting me. I am pleased overall! I only gave it four stars because of the wait and the crowd, but the employees were doing as best they could. read more

Back in 2009 I went to Dr. Bizers to get glasses. The glasses I bought were the poly carbonate with progressive no line bi focal. From the first day the glasses weren't right. my vision at distance and in the bi focal range was fuzzy. I was told that my eyes would get used to them but they never did and going back to the store yielded no further answers or action. Last year I moved to Georgia and yesterday I got another eye exam at a different doctor. I was told that my glasses had no bi focal in them at all, I paid good money for something I didn't get and my advice to anyone reading this review is to avoid going to Dr. Bizers Vision World for their eye care needs, and tell your friends and family not to go there too. read more
