I have been their patient for some time. I showed up for my annual check up and was shown the door. They no longer take medicaid (effectively discriminating against disabled, elderly and unemployed people) and are "too busy" to inform their patients about the change (their words not mine) ahead of their visit. They could "hardly contact every client" about an insurance change (Again their words.) Does anyone else get inundated with reminder messages or even advertising messages? Evidently Clarkson's does have the capacity and they are well able to contact all their patients with useful tidbits of information.They just don't think some things are worth mentioning or is it that some of us are not worth contacting? They would rather waste our time than take the trouble. I do value your time. Don't go there.

A year after I bought them they broke. I fell asleep wearing them. At the same time my husband was a year into his cancer treatment and it wiped out are savings. I went to Clarkson's and ask them if they fix them. I told them I couldn't afford a new pair at that time. They didn't ask why they just fixed them using parts they had already. No charge. Well I recently broke them again. I went back but the girl who fixed them no longer worked there. So I left. Then to my surprise they must have looked up my number and called saying they could try to fix them. They took time to do this and didn't just forget about the lady with the broken frames. The people there are thoughtful and kindhearted folks.

If an individual has vision insurance and health insurance, they are to bill the vision insurance first and then the health insurance. Otherwise it's a type of fraud. I went to their office and what should have been a $10 copay for my office visit, they charged $121. They had my vision insurance and they are the only optometrist I have ever seen for a routine exam that asked for my health insurance information. When I asked them did you bill my vision insurance? The young lady at the desk said nope. Well why not? Now, they did reimburse me the additional $110 that they charged me. But to date still have not charged my vision insurance. Why is that? Oh, I know why, because they'll get a large reimbursement by billing my health insurance. This was for a routine eye exam in order to get new glasses. Not a comprehensive eye exam for cataracts or glaucoma or macular. It was only to get a new prescription for eyewear. I actually read the review by the business owner. Just to be clear, I called my vision insurance before and after my visit . They made it very clear that you are to bill the vision insurance first and then my medical insurance. In the 45 years that I've been paying for my own vision insurance. You're the only company that has ever billed my health insurance first and only. It is a matter of a possible fraudulent business practice. My vision insurance is in the prospect of looking into that and will make recommendation.

I completed my order and immediately got a call from the store informing me they were not participating in the discount, but they would offer the online 10% discount. I was told to cancel and re-place my order using the 10% off. OK. That stinks but the fine print did say "participating stores." I informed them that I did not have the ability to cancel my order so someone else called back to tell me she could cancel my order on their end and I could reorder, but she didn't know the 10% off code and I couldn't find it. I asked if it could be applied if I just came to the store. She said they could only do 5% if I was military! My niceness wore off and I said, "I find it hard to believe that after the inconvenience of not offering the advertised discount that you can't manually give me 10% off." She she'd she would try and figure it out. My son went in to get the batteries and received the 10% off and they were very kind to him. But seriously, there should be a way to opt out of the 15% online offer and also I should not have had to lose my temper to get the 10%. I will be back to this location. As I said, we have had positive service before. I just hope this review is seen and a better process is put in place. I am also now waiting for my refund from the cancelled order.
