This story is like a nightmare with no end. Against common sense, I revisited this place with my wife. She had an appointment, that was confirmed. Upon arrival, we were met with that blind stare from one of their associates. I don't know what they pay the help, but upping the ante might bring some help that's a little more cordial and helpful. If the mgr. isn't in house or is busy, the herd wanders aimlessly or plays with their phones. Our assigned associate, kept addressing her by the wrong name. Both my wife and myself purchase glasses at Toms River Visionworks. I bought glasses there and took advantage of their" buy one pair , get second pair free. I wear one pair every day. The second pair rests on my desk in the case I received with the glasses. It came to a time where I wanted to take the second pair with me on vacation. I try the other pair on and both lenses are distorted so as to make them useless. I visit Visionworks and they can't believe the condition of my glasses. They like brand new. They have never been worn. BUT they say the glasses are out of warranty! I call, they're corporate and get fed the same BS story that they are out of warranty! Now the glasses have not been used, bent out of shape, or abused at all. They just got past their " quality control " and because I never opened the little case they came in, I am stuck with a useless pair of glasses. Think twice before going in to this facility. It's a pity this company won't stand behind their product. For the price of a pair of glasses they have established the fact they really don't care for their clients. Find some other glasses vendor To add insult to injury, I had a " senior" "representative call me. No apologies, just a bogus offer to SELL me a replacement pair at a reduced price!! When I laughed at his offer, he became abrupt and said it wasn't Visionworks fault that I received a defective pair of glasses, It was my fault for not examining both pairs!!!! He also insisted all glasses must pass a quality control exam before they are given to a client. I asked if their quality control technician wore glasses made by Visionworks?? I would not buy any glasses there the doctors are good but I bought glasses there last year the lens cracked within a year inquired about replacement they informed me that I did not purchase insurance so they could not help me even though it was clearly a defect as both lenses are cracking. Save yourself hours you will never get back. The examine had issues because they could not get a clear picture of my retina. The optometrist was fine, the help is a different story After the exam I had to search for frames, no one in the store helped me they just sat around talking. I finally settled on a pair, the staff debated on who would assist in coordinating the purchase. After putting it into the system they told me they do not make my lenses and I would need to go back to where I bought my original glasses. I hope you guys can appreciate the irony of having some account named "Customer Service" respond to every single comment about how much they care about the reviews and they want to make things right, but meanwhile when you actually try to call the store you just get an automated system and you can never actually talk to anyone. I'm not gonna e-mail you my contact information so someone can reach out to me, how about you just answer the phone number that's listed with your store so customers can get answers immediately and directly without needing to jump through a bunch of hoops. You're a business. People are paying for your glasses and contacts. You have an obligation to give them honest updates on the status of their purchases, not just direct them to an automated system that's going to tell them their stuff is arriving in 3-5 business days no matter what. Despite the iffy reviews, I thought I'd give Visionworks a try. I don't have many options w/my insurance, but after yesterday? Never again. This is pretty much my Google Review. I had an 11:20am appointment & my husband had an 11:40 appointment. I made the appointments maybe 2 weeks ago and since then I've been getting a text and an email appointment reminders every other day. I know there was a feature to opt out of reminders and I didn't opt out. But I didn't think I'd be inundated with those reminders. I lost count of how many I've gotten. Then hubby got a call the day before yesterday that there was an issue with his insurance, so he wasn't going to make it for his appointment. Fine-- still not really VW at fault but his insurance. So, I went in for my appointment and was late due to serious traffic. I arrived at 11:29. But, I wait for several minutes before I'm recognized at the front desk. At the desk was one older guy shuffling through papers, a customer and another employee furiously shuffling through another stack of papers. The guy was polite but told me the other employee would help me in a few minutes. 10 minutes pass before I'm spoken to again. In that time, I wasn't just waiting, I was listening to what was happening with the other customer-- who looked as disgruntled as I felt. She was wearing medical scrubs and explaining to the employee shuffling through papers that she (the customer) had just come from a bad day at work and needed some assistance, after all she did have an appointment. Effectively she got a brick wall. VW gave her attitude about paperwork they lost. And then I'm told that the 11:40 appointment my husband had had was taken by another customer-- who they took in at 11:20, when my own appointment had been scheduled. She had been takin in early when I guess they thought I wasn't showing up. Who knew Visionworks would be schedule-Nazis? I don't expect them to hold appointments indefinitely. But, in today's world-- when a customer tells you their confirming the appointment, then give them a few minutes to show. When I was finally told that another customer had been given my own appointment, it was just then 11:40. So, I asked if I could take that customer's 11:40 appointment which wasn't being filled. That was a big No. They wouldn't take me in. Even though they took in another customer early. I would have to wait to see if either the 12:20 arrived or the 1:20. Seriously? I'm late 9 minutes. You give someone my appointment, but can't give me her appointment? You lose a woman's order information from an order she made last week and was coming in today to follow up on? Stay away from Visionworks. Stay far away. Update: I suppose my review prompted the series of phone calls & texts from Visionworks telling me effectively: We see you missed your appointment yesterday. Give us a call & we can help you reschedule. Seriously Visionworks? I called this morning & spoke with a representative. I confess I got irritated & did hang up. But, I was essentially told that yes, since I didn't stick around to get the doctor's actual refusal of service (my words not theirs), I was marked down as not showing up for my appointment.... even though I was there 9 minutes past my appointment to find that the appointment after my own had been taken early....The rep I spoke with today told me that since the couple with appointments after me showed up on time, and since the doctor had to go to lunch, that was why I was made to wait, that was why the other appointment was taken first. So I suppose Visionworks can predict future events and that was why I wasn't given the other woman's appointment as she had been given my appointment? Rant done. Stay away. I stood in the store for at least 30 minutes and all 4 employees ignored me. When i finally said something i was treated rudely. I wasn't given any information i needed to make a decision. As someone who is brand new to glasses i didn't know what my options were and i couldn't make an informed decision. Then i was told there were extras that my insurance doesn't cover. $200 worth. This place was probably the most unprofessional place I've been to in a really long time. First I walked in, stood right in line- the people that were checking out left and I moved up to let the staff member know I'm here for my appointment and she just left the area didn't tell me she will be with me in second or anything. While I stood there for 10 minutes, I had a few staff members look at me and continue with their work. A few walked by me not one hello or let me know they will be with me in a moment. I found this Toms River Visionworks very helpful. This is a busy place most of the time so I followed protocol with signing in and had no problem obtaining assistance in the order of the sign in list. The employee's answered any and all questions that I had. They filled my eye glass prescription in a timely manner and upon picking them up, they made sure everything was ok when I tried them on before leaving and that I was a satisfied customer. If there are any concerns once you wear them for a couple of weeks and are not satisfied or have an issue the employee's here will make it right as was my experience. This will be my permanent vision go to place from now on because of this positive experience. read more

I was told my and my husbands contacts would be in within 2 weeks to try and than order. It's been almost a month and no contacts. I asked for the prescription so I could go to 1-800-contacts where I always get my contacts in days and was told no they will not give me the prescriptions. Each visit I dealt with the same woman who was not happy at all. Her attitude was unprofessional and she treated me as if I was bothering her. The reps never assisted me with the picking of the frame, nor taking my measurements for accurate fit. I returned them for the 100 day guarantee that the rep informs me was only a 30 day guarantee. the lens keeps poppig each time I clean them and they are just cheaply put together. Received a message in my voice mail from the same Visionworks, a one minute message given to me in 33 seconds. My trial pair of contacts were in and from what I understood I had to call and make an appointment if I wanted to try them on with the doctor, Or I could just leave with them. Came to the store to pick them up. Phone constantly ringing, seven people standing in line... Two people working in the store. Only to find out that I did have to make an appointment in order in to get the contacts. That will be 2 weeks I'm waiting for them after spending 185.00 of my own money along with what my insurance paid. Save yourself the time and trouble, find another doctor. Everyone I dealt with was nice, but the person helping me choose glasses was exceptional (Joanne). She was very straightforward and honest. I had picked out a couple of pairs that didn't really fit my face and she told me as much (which I appreciated). Joanne seems to know everything there is to know which was comforting as I was spending a couple of hundred dollars. I was going to do the buy one get one deal until I saw the final bill. Instead of pushing me into that, she suggested I get one pair and take advantage of a 40% off promotion. It was probably the best customer experience I ever had! read more

If you really value your eyes and finances, stay as far away as possible from this amateur hour center! To begin with the associate or should I say the ass! Had no clue on how to figure out how much the cost would be or even explain it to me. When he finally gets to tell me two different prices they were way out of line with what it should have cost, meaning extremely more expensive than what it should have been. Finally I guess a manager steps in and explains how he has the wrong information in the computer. If this isn't bad enough, they can't even get the initial eye exam machine to properly scan my eyes! They had to remove the shield over the machine and still couldn't get it right with not one, two, but three people around the machine. Then to wrap up this place, I was told it'd take about two weeks or less for my glasses to arrive. After nearly a month nothing ever happened nor was I notified! So I call and as I figured, was told they're here. Then after I ask which nimrod was responsible for not calling I got a BS answer of "oh that's corporate that's supposed to text you" Seriously? The local branch is the one that receives the glasses not the corporate office! Also this is the first time I have ever been handed my glasses without being asked to try them out or given a cheap cleaning cloth! Finally got to the end of the rant. I got my glasses today September 22,2021 and they're not even properly working as my over the counter reading glasses work better. My much more expensive prescription glasses are blurry when wearing them. So much more I could write, but I'll try to keep it short and to the point! Again please look and spend your money elsewhere where it may be valued and you get treated by professionals that know what they are doing! Be careful paying for the "contact exam". They told me insurance didn't cover it so I needed to pay out of pocket, which I did. However, when I checked my claims through my insurance carrier, Visionworks billed my insurance for the contact exam, and received a paid claim! So they got a double payment on the same claim. I never would have noticed if I didn't go in and check my claims. It really makes me wonder how often they do this to patients and it's really sad because technically it's insurance fraud. read more

I'd scheduled a appointment online for 2:30pm eye examination. After checking in at the front desk I was instructed to have a seat in the front of the seat. At around 3pm no one conducted a pre-examination interview or preparation for the exam. While sitting there, other customers was seen and sent back to the exam area. Poor service. The employee who was helping me was relatively new at his job, not an issue. The problem was his manager Vikki who spoke down to him the entire time he was trying to get my contact and glasses order into the computer. She sat at her desk and had to get up at least 5 different times to show him what to click or how to enter into the computer, she easily could have just shown him and walked him through it from the beginning. Something that could have taken 5 mins turned into a 30 minute ordeal. My order did come in correct but I doubt I will be back. read more

Had a terrible experience at Pearle Vision. Came here and was treated so nicely. They didn't hover over and bother me until I was ready or had a question. All the frames are out and accessible to you... Not under glass and hiding in shelves like other places. The women who helped me was so pleasant and the purchase was very professional yet fast.
