Don't like handing out bad reviews...there's always an "off" day - I have em myself!! But, I think in this case, it's deserving - as a warning!! - DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!! Or if you should decide...at least you know what you're getting into UPFRONT! Because I would need to write two reviews to cover everything that happened here...will just keep it as brief as possible. Was a huge plus for these guys initially when they got me in last minute for an exam and contacts back in April. Was quick on the exam...first person in for one, associate took me almost immediately to run the standard series of tests...then met with the doctor (who was quite pleasant) for the remainder of the exam. The majority of time was spent in the waiting room AFTER! Browsed the glasses selection for a good half hour...until I finally had to ask someone about helping me finalize my purchase - one year of contacts please! - Associate was slow as molasses...not able to multitask (or think ahead!) she would run one piece of paper over to the other desk - or computer - at a time...returning back to us...then leaving again to do the same thing! This process dragged on for a good 40 minutes - and I'm NOT exaggerating here!! Wish I were!! Just came from a long day at work - was tired and hungry - and getting frustrated at the entire process!! After all the couple who came after me, had already received their exam...talked with an associate about their purchase and were out in the hallway at this point! Was told AFTER this all occurred, that the doctor would need to see me again before I left! Being as hungry and tired as we were at this point - and the fact that we were already here for 2 hours!! - didn't make this comment easy to hear...but whatever...decided to wait to see the doctor. That's when I heard yelling from the hallway. Turns out, the couple who came before, knew the doctor...were on the phone with the doctor and arguing with her because they couldn't make a deposit on their glasses and pay the balance off when they returned. Asked the associate how long the wait will be...just got a shrug...waited a couple minutes more...and left. Was there for 2 1/2..going on 3 hours now at that point! Know problems arise and you have to square them away...but shouldn't have to be the brunt of that issue...need to get on with my day too. Left. And as mad as I was about the experience, was pretty excited to just have my eyesight back again!! Being that it had been a while, figured I'd give my eyes a few weeks to adjust - didn't wear them at night, gave it a few hours a day, yada yada...all the stuff you're supposed to do when wearing contacts for the first time. Started getting some really nasty yellow crust around my eyes at night. Eyes were itchy, dry - used drops THEY gave me as a trial - figured it would clear up as my eyes got more used to the fact wearing them..but was wrong! After a couple of weeks of this nonsense...did some research to find out that you can only use a certain solution with Silicone lenses!! And guess what?! Wasn't the one they gave me!! Hurried out to the store, bought the right solution..and seen some better results with wearing the lenses. Problem was, that because of the yellow crust eye and dryness, was blowing through my lenses like you wouldn't believe!! Expected to toss some out...but at the end of 2 months...was down to one set! Finally went in to talk to them - yes, should have been sooner. But I'm a busy gal. Run a business, family, you know how it goes...Also thought it would clear up at this point...but didn't think they would try to pull a fast one..But. Yep! Sure did!! The girl I spoke to just rolled her eyes at me as I explained the situation...while the guy gave me the look I'm sorry, but can't do anything for you... Girl finally says she'll talk to the doctor, comes back a few minutes later to tell me they don't give out that type of solution and because it was past 30 days they can't - and won't - do anything for me. Was pretty steaming at this point! Funny how they hide behind a warranty, but make no mention of you needing to adhere to that warranty should a problem come up! All I had was mention of the rebate I was supposed to get at the time I paid...and even then that information was false because I used my insurance! Called corporate...who of course is a mediator...and called the store while I was on the phone. Wasa, told her that in my file it was written that they offered to "refit" me for $40.00, but I stormed out of the office instead...declining their "offer". Offer? There was no offer!! I explained! Haven't been back since...although my "offer" is still supposed to stand. Blew the cash I had set aside for lenses, on one very bad experience. If they had offered me that at the time I went back to complain, would have jumped on it...but now, not so sure. Why would I want to be dragged through the mud again with some shady people?!! I've been to this location a few times, and each time all the associates were awesome and so friendly! I was assisted right away. They were very patient when helping me pick the right frames and very knowledgeable on the add-on options. The manager even checked in to make sure all of my questions were answered and that I had everything that I needed. I recently went into this vision works location looking to update my glasses. Star, the manager, was very helpful and knowledgable about their products. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for but she was able to help me narrow down my choices. I'm very picky and when it comes to glasses you always have to think of not only cost but style! They jerk you around and make you wait forever. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. I have been going to Visionworks in Lombard every year at least since I believe 2009. I started seeing Dr. Y...I can't remember her name. She is a good enough doctor, does her job well and is pleasant. The rest of the staff....a different story. I've had some kind of issue every time I've been there. I started going here in high school so at first it was my mom who mainly had to deal with the brunt of their ridiculousness. My visit last night and today is the straw that broke the camel's back. For one thing, they are super pricey. For a place who constantly boasts great prices and deals, they are overly expensive. The frames tend to be decently priced but they always have a catch. My insurance kind of sucks so I don't save much but they also only take one deal at a time. So for example, you use your insurance for the exam and the 15% off the lenses and they won't honor a corporate deal such as the 2 for 1 glasses. I understand why do that, it just sucks that they lure you in with all that and then you end up paying $250 for a pair of glasses (cheap frames) and $35 a box for contacts. Next thing is that their customer service is awful. They never tell you anything and the second you ask a question they get short and snappy with you. I went in last night to see if I could try a new pair of contacts out. The guy told me sure but you need to see the doctor first for that I said okay no problem. He set me an appointment for this morning. He didn't tell me anything else. Well I go in this morning right on time and the front desk employee was on the phone for 15 minutes with someone meanwhile the other employee takes a walk-in back first to see the doctor. Strike 1. After she finally came back up front 10 minutes later she asks if I filled out the online form. I had no knowledge of this so obviously I did not. So she asks me to fill it out and I do. While I'm doing that she leaves. Another 5 or so minutes later the other employee comes over and asks me if I want a bunch of exam upgrades. I simply asked her why I needed an exam just for a trial pair of contacts. Immediately she turns rude and says well that's just our procedure, the doctor needs to fit them on to make sure they are the right shape. I was off-put by her response, only because of how rude she was, not the actual answer. So I asked her well I checked the measurements and they are the same as my last pair, can I just have the doctor check them and make sure, I don't understand why I need to go through a full exam. She replies, this time even snappier, with "No, this is the procedure. You need to have an exam for all new contact lenses." At this point I was done with this attitude. I said well then okay, how much is the exam without my insurance. She says $58. I asked well there is a store special going on right now that is an exam for $19 can I use that? Then there's that pesky only 1 deal thing so she tells me no. I think it's a tad ridiculous how I cannot combine a manufacturer coupon with a store offer. So I then said well, I can't afford the exam today so I'll have to cancel my appointment today. She responds with "ok, fine." Not have a nice day, or asking if I want to reschedule...just a good riddance. Oh well, off to find a new optometrist! Sorry about my rant, I'm steamed. read more

This place is apalling on terms of customer service. Not only did I wait 15 minutes to simply pick up frames, but the service I received when I had questions regarding my frames was abismal. Interesting there's a similar review already posted. My experience was purchased glasses that were picked up on a Friday evening. Taking them off for the first time 3 hours later I see the earpiece cracked open from being bent too far. Returning to the store Saturday morning to have them fixed I was offered a "polish" while I wait. 1.5 hours later I receive the glasses with concave deep gouges in the frames that weren't symmetrical and showed through the front. I'm going to see if I can post a link to a picture I took with my cell camera. There wasn't much dispute to the damage of the lenses though their only offering was to make new lenses... ready in 10 days. I wasn't looking for any freebies, money off, nothing. I do believe having deserved an apology and not second-class treatment having been pushed off to wait while all other patrons were serviced first. Ten days later... The lenses are wrong. Too strong a prescription. Having had enough of this incompetence I asked for my money back. Sure after hesitation I received the bulk returned though they played shenanigans with the exam charge billed separately. First it had to be a corporate check, then it was a service fee and nothing could be done... The entire time there was a bullish attitude without a single apology. I understand mistakes happen. It's all about how one goes about handling it. Between the frame and lens damage from this outfit there was no business ethic. None. Between the attitude displayed as well intentionally fitting broken frames to leave their store, that should have been a sign. Just to add being similar to the other post, they too were very quick to get paperwork drawn up with insisting the next appointment before listening to any questions. I was extremely impressed with how accommodating the staff was!! Zach was wonderful with making sure I left with exactly what I needed, and overall made the experience very relaxing and easy. I haven't had actual vision coverage in years, so I use my health insurance for my eye exam and bring my prescription elsewhere to get filled and use my care credit card to pay for the glasses. I've been a customer of For Eyes for a number of years, and just over paying $700 for bifocals that I only wear at work...this is with their "deal" groupon of $250 off a pair of progressives. I dread having to get a new pair of glasses because they cost so much. Not anymore....now that I'm a customer of Visionworks. I didn't even plan on it, but I ended up getting my glasses during a 60% off everything sale, and long story short...my name brand glasses, which are bifocals only cost me $260. I was SO happy leaving after my purchase. They took about a week-ish to come in, but I wasn't in much of a hurry. My only complaint is...I went in on a Saturday, and only one person was there to take care of me once I picked out my frames, so I had to wait. Thankfully they weren't too busy. I will say the wait balanced out in order to get affordable glasses that are also name brand. read more

I was just at the Lombard location last week and can say it was a decent experience. I did not experience any issues and everything went smoothly. The person at the front desk was very courteous so that was a nice start. She got me started on the paperwork and did some prelim tests. Now I got there about a half hour early because I wasn't sure what to expect so I had to wait a little bit for the doctor since he was at lunch but that I expected. If I had to say one thing I would like improvement on is I felt a little bit rushed with the doctor but he still made sure I understood my prescription and asked if I had any questions or concerns. Finally, I especially liked how the people were not at all pushy about buying frames and lenses. During my checkout they asked me if I was buying them today and said no and that was the end of it, it was nice not being pressured. I don't know what this place is like on the weekend but if you are looking for a quick appointment in the middle of the day during the week, I would probably recommend this place. There was no one else in line and the experience was fine. Also, you can't beat the $39.99 exams and then my insurance got me even more of a discount! read more

The optician and eye exam were excellent. Very knowledgable optician who is concerned about the patient and does a thorough eye exam and refraction. Very pleased with her ability and expertise at a very reasonable price. As far as selecting and buying glasses, the prices are all over the place. First visit quoted $360 for simple single vision lenses with favorite frames. Found online coupons of 40% or 60% (over 55) off, and same glasses now $108. 3rd visit with same coupon now quoted $160. Talked to another associate a few minutes later and price back to $108. Roulette wheel pricing depending on the associate and the coupon. It seems they hope shopping center walk-ins just stay ignorant and pay high retail prices. And what's with the additional $125 just to have anti-reflective coating? Zenni online changes $5 additional for that. But I may give them another chance. read more

I had my eyes examined by the dr. at Visionworks and purchased progressive glasses at the same place so I wouldn't have a problem. However, I have trouble reading with the glasses, and I was told I have a "vision issue that can be caused by underlying issues that may need to be addressed". I can read much better with the 2 year old reading glasses that were prescribed and purchased at a different store!! Visionworks wouldn't solve my problem. I will never go there again! read more

My first experience at Visionworks in Schaumburg was so terrible that I never thought I'd go back. I won't even get into it...anyways, years later I needed an eye exam and was going to be in the area so the Yorktown location was convenient. It still took me days to make an appointment because I didn't want to go through a bad experience again but I'm so glad I made the appointment! As soon as I walked in Jackie was so helpful and nice--I felt comfortable right away. Dr. Yasin was so sweet and thorough. Angel helped me as I picked out my glasses and when it was time to pick them up, the young lady who helped me get them fitted was also sweet! I wish I got her name too. Honestly this was the WORST experience I've ever had with getting glasses. I will never come here again. I've been wearing glasses my whole life and have switched doctors and places and never once had the issues I've had with vision works! I went in with a prescription i got from my eye doctor and wanted to fill it with a pair of glasses from this location. I ordered them and they said they'd be in within 2 weeks so great. 2 weeks go by and i hadn't heard from them so I called only to be told that they sent my contact prescription in with the frames instead of the glasses prescription! So you guys couldn't call me? The associate claimed she called me but I call BS because I never once received a call or voicemail and they had my correct number on file. She's a liar! So i went in and called her out on it and they even lost my glasses prescription! Don't they have people who review orders before they're sent? What idiot sends a contact prescription for a glass frame? These are a bunch of uneducated kids working here. So they order them again and expedite them so i went this morning to pick them up and as I'm standing there waiting i hear another customer complaining that she picked up her glasses yesterday and she can't see!! So I'm praying that this isn't going to happen to me and sure enough i put the glasses on and i cant see shit! Once again WRONG. Total scam artists!! I took my elderly father there since they had a promotion of buy one pair of frames and get one free. He picked out a pair of frames at $70. After we were made to wait for 45 minutes for a salesman when no other customers were being helped, the scammer told us the total would be $580!! That didn't even include the eye exam!! They claimed lenses were $399! We were shocked and said no way, we'll take our business elsewhere. The salesman tried to tell us that the prices of lenses has increased drastically in the last couple years. Yeah right. Then the salesman said he'll take 50% off, but we'll only get one pair then. Um... I'm not sure how they think a buy one get one FREE sale works, but if I'm paying $240 for one pair, shouldn't I get a second pair for, oh I don't know.... FREE?? We left and went to For Eyes, where my dad got 2 pairs of glasses for $282 out the door. If I could leave a rating lower than 1 star for Visionworks, I would. read more

I had to add a review just as awareness to other customers. I have to say everyone was very nice, and the doctor was great. The reason for my review is the lack of information of coverage from your insurance , their prices, and their services. First of all, I had been going to a different vision works for the past 4 years and never had a problem. I moved from the city and decided to look for a Vision works near my new house, expecting the same good experience. I went in for my appointment and informed them they can get my previous records from the other VW, the tech tried calling but could not each them so she said she can see my prescription off my current glasses. As she was about to start with the exams, I asked her , how much is the eye exam? she said, it would start from $25 and they would go over all of that at the end. This should have been a clue for me to stop and ask more questions, why until the end? anyway, she proceeded to do some tests, which I have no clue if this is included in the exam or not. How would I know this? I don't work there, I don;'t know what is included. So, along with the tests she takes pictures of my eyes, again, without saying anything about this being included in the exam. I go back to see the doctor, she's very friendly, goes over a lot of questions, shows me the pictures and explains what she sees. She gives me her recommendations on what I should include on my new glasses.... ok, I go back to start looking at the glasses, and at this point the girl explains what my insurance covers and what I can get.. I choose the glasses and go back to the desk to review the details, she offers, several things , including what the doctor recommended. I get to CHOOSE , what I want added and pay for.. At the end of the transaction she states, "oh and the pictures."... I paid the amount due and left. As I was thinking of the whole process I looked back at my receipt and was totally thrown off by the prices on there, based on what she had said I would be paying, and I saw a $45 charge for the eye exam, and a SEPARATE charge for the pictures of $39. I called to go over this receipt, when I called I asked to speak to someone regarding the receipt. The girl on the phone said she was a manager and the one who took care of me at the end. I said great, lets go over it.... She went on to say the prices that appeared on the receipt was not what I paid, " don't worry those prices are inventory prices, it doesn't show what your insurance paid." This is super confusing for someone who doesn't know that to expect. I then proceeded to ask about the pictures and the additional charge for those. She said, "yes, those pictures are separate from the eye exam." AGAIN, how would I know this,? I wasn't asked if I wanted the pictures, I wasn't told they are separate from the exam. I was asked about all the other options except this, this is why I tried asking from the beginning how much is the exam?... Fast forward a little, I said I would like this refunded to me as I didn't ask for them. She said ," I don't think this can be refunded, but I will have the manager call you tomorrow." I thought she WAS the manager....The next day, a manager calls me and asks me what happened... I explain to her everything .. She says "The pictures are part of the doctor's services and we cannot refund this." I was getting more upset, I told her this wasn't acceptable, the customer has the right to know what is included, what is not , what are her choice?? Not get surprises at the end... It was $39, not just $10, $15 like the other options we had.. She told me, " I will refund you the $39 , but just know this is not for the pictures as those cannot be refunded." Ok, that is not my fault or problem, and if it was an issue to refund that then you should have informed in the first place. I got the refund, but seriously wanted to cancel the whole thing at that point as it seemed like it was my fault for having them done... and the whole situation overall , but I got my glasses.. I am just writing the review to inform other customers to ask questions, and request details prior to any services to avoid these situations, as it was not pleasant having to argue over their mistake. I will definitely not come this location again, I will look into other places next time. read more

Apparently Yelp can "hide" reviews if they think they are fake or if you haven't reviewed enough or etc. I understand the fake reviews but for the real ones, that is total B.S. especially when you are trying to warn people of negative experiences. That is why I am posting this review again, in hopes it will not be deleted. I will be one of those people who say I don't usually leave reviews, but for this place I needed to create an account and leave a review. First I spent over 500 dollars on glasses at this piece of trash place. The girls who work there were just so rude and ignorant the whole time. They start with all the normal what glasses do you want? Lense? Special coating? Transitions? Etc. After going through everything I place my order. It will take a week just to get the lenses in. Ok that's fine. Over a week later I call to inquire and they tell me "oh yea we got them the other day". Really? Thanks for the call. After about a week of wearing them I notice the transition lenses were super dark all the time. I bring them back and ask what lenses are in here because these aren't what I ordered. The lady then tells me oh we gave you the ones for active outdoors that gets super dark and always stays tinted indoors. What do you mean you "gave me" that? What didn't you "give me" the ones I asked for. She then told me "we thought you'd like these better because they work behind windshields" . Ok cool, how about you give me what I damn ordered. So then she tells me it's going to take another week to get the new lenses. A week goes by, same thing, I have to call to find out they are there. Upon receiving them at the store as soon as I put them on there is light glare all over. I look at the left lense and it has about 20, half inch long scratches all in perfect line and width. I tell them lady and she immediately tells me "oh wow I see it. We'll get you news they'll be here in about a week" . At this point I tell her this is ridiculous a bought glasses over a month ago and can't even wear them. I want my money back. She then tells me I can't do that because it has just been over 30 days which is their policy. So I order over 500 dollars worth of glasses, don't get to wear them for over a month because THEY screwed up over and over, and now I can't get a refund because "oh it's past the time". This place and the people who work there are complete garbage. Please stay away. Throughout this whole process again the ladies were VERY rude and ignorant and never once apologized. Not professional at all. Not to mention when they sent out for the new lenses the first time, she had to "recharge" my credit card. So for a while I had over 1,000 dollars charged to my card from vision works. Completely unacceptable. And because of that transaction as well, they resubmitted something to my insurance company and they said they weren't going to pay the extra 600 dollars that they had paid the first time. What extra money? why the second charge? Everything was completed and insurance was fine the first time. After talking with my insurance company I cleared it up because they were reciving multiple claims from vision works because of the stupid "second transaction we have to recharge because we gave you the wrong lenses the first time". I still have no clue how this place can screw up like this. It was such a headache. read more

I went in waited only a few minutes and Dr. Yasin did the most amazing exam and was able to let me know exactly what was wrong and gave excellent advise to keep my eyes in shape. This is the first review I have ever written. I feel compelled to tell the world that Visionworks is by far the worst business I have ever encountered. My wife and I brought our 5 year son in for an exam last week as he began kindergarten. This exam is required by state. After 30 minutes we were told he was a +1 with .25 stigmatism and need a prescription. They repeatedly asked us if we had picked out frames as they were offering a 2 for 1 (another scam). I just didn't believe these so called professionals. They were pushing glasses too hard and I became extremely annoyed, especially since they were not concerned with the true health and well being of my son; instead they were selling unneeded glasses to patients therefore ruining their eye. I paid the bill and left. We subsequently took our son to two other doctors (one was Costco) and neither found any problem with my son's eyes or the need for a prescription. This is truly disheartening. I would never recommend Visonworks to anyone. What a true disservice and disappointment. read more

Do not go to this location. Not having vision insurance covered by my company, I discovered that this Visionworks location gives a discount to Blue Cross members even if they don't offer coverage, which is nice. Little did I know that I was going to be getting what I paid for. I do have to say, their eye exam is relatively painless and hassle free. Even though I had an appointment, I had to wait a little bit upon arriving, but it wasn't too much of an issue, and the doctor was friendly and attentive, and made sure that everything went smoothly. Afterwards, however, things started to go down the drain. The sales representatives at this location are pushy, deceptive, and will try to add additional features that you don't need to your glasses. After I chose a frame, and explaining that I was just looking for a simple pair of frames to replace the ones that I had been wearing for a while, the salesman acted really friendly, and kept chatting casually the entire time. When he started looking at the frames I had chosen, he started clicking a lot of buttons and saying "oh yeah, you'll want these lenses, these features, with this, this, and this...". Note, this is without my input. When he showed me the bill at the end of all of his clicking, it was far, far more than I expected to pay for a simple pair of glasses! I asked him what exactly he added, and he began by telling me "oh, you need this, this, and this...", to which I responded "no, I don't.". I'm really glad I didn't just agree and charge my credit card! After removing all of the special features that I in fact did NOT need, the price dropped drastically to be more in line with what I was expecting. The sales person seemed disappointed, but frankly, that's not really my problem. The troubles continued when I came to pick up the glasses. I got there, and was asked by the woman at the counter to have a seat and wait while she looked for my glasses. I was fine with that, but then the woman elected to answer a phone call and speak to an irate customer (I could tell that the conversation was NOT going well, and that the customer was extremely dissatisfied) for literally twenty minutes, WHILE I WAS WAITING. She did not call anyone to help me, and did not do anything except speak to this customer on the phone in a condescending and patronizing tone. I was on the verge of trying to find another associate (as I was getting fed up with having to wait 20 minutes just to pick up glasses that I had already paid for), when she finally hung up, and spent another five minutes finding my glasses. After that, she pulled them out of the case, and TWISTED THEM (pulled one side counter-clockwise, the other side clockwise) to the point where I had a slight popping noise. To this day, I'm still not sure WHY she did that...but needless to say, I was a little shocked. I asked her about it, and she snapped back angrily that it was "standard to do" and that I should just wait until they were ready. Needless to say, this is NOT a customer service attitude, and it's ridiculous that I should have to put up with that kind of behavior, especially after waiting twenty minutes to just PICK UP my glasses! In any case, she finished with them, I tried them on, and got out of there as fast as I could. Two weeks later, the glasses broke (most likely due to what she did to them). Go figure. Oh, and the kicker? This is the second time that I have gotten frames from VisionWorks and have had them break within three months (I was more fortunate with the first pair I had gotten). I was hoping to get a lucky break due to the reduced cost, but rest assured, it's not worth it. I will never recommend this place, and would highly suggest going elsewhere for your vision needs. Incredibly frustrating experience. Haven't worn glasses in 20 yrs, go in for an exam. I need both reading and distance. They give me a progressive script. Get the glasses, I can't see out of them. And told to give it a solid week, so I go home and try to wear them. Finally, I test compare them to a pair of reader. The progressives are distorting my vision. Go back, spend 1.5 hrs there. Am told they would speak to doctor. Days go by, I hear nothing. Finally hunt them down, I have to come back in for another exam. Doc tells me my vision changes, and now I do not have a astigmanism in on eye. Ok, very weird, but I did initially have oral surgery and asked if that would impact my eye test, was told no. Doc tells me; I need two pairs of glasses, one for computer and one for distance. Get those, they both work, BUT I can't see close in the distance pair if I need to look down for a moment. If I happen to stand up with the computer pair on, I can't see where I am walking. Call, tell them I need a pair of bifocal. Ask if the doc has enough to give me this prescription. Don't hear back for 3 days. Call again, and they want me to come in while the doctor is there, even though I don't need to see her, just so they can ask this one question about the bifocal script. Every time I go in, they are busy, I end up waiting and spending 1.5 or more hours there. I am 5 hours into this. Insanity! It is Nov 14th and I began this process the middle of Sept. read more

I purchased 3 pairs of glasses at the Yorktown Vision works for $700! My main pair developed lens issues that I thought might be scratches. I went into the store and they saw marks on glasses like you make for progressive lenses and they tried to blame me for the marks like I went to another optical shop,which I of course had not. My glasses are less than a year old but there warranty is 30 days so they would do nothing for me and were not very nice or willing to help. I will never ever go there again but I will be going to Warby Parker in OakBrook,they have good reviews and much cheaper prices. read more

Yrs, many framea to chose from, but Poor customer service and misleading advertising and expensive with lots of fees.. Walked in and three associates werw at the register talking, did not even look up. Was there for about 10 minutes, then had to go ask for help. I personally will never go to another Visionworks or any of its affiliates for the rest of my life after my experience with them this year. Last November I had an eye exam through their Lombard location. After this exam they charged me my portion of the charge, and the receipt showed that my insurance would cover the 32$ remaining. Visionworks then charged my insurance 59$, or in other words overcharged them 27$, which was 27$more than on the receipt. It is ILLEGAL to do this. My original receipt was 100$ and they charged me and my insurance a total of 127$ and offered no explanation when THEIR own receipt showed only 32$ would be covered by my insurance. My insurance said I would have to be refunded by Visionworks since they already paid Visionworks for the illegal charge. Once I caught their error I came back to visionworks, in person, to get it resolved. An associate told me the manager, Michelle Messina, would be in the next day, would be told about my situation and would call me. No one could every explain why they overcharged my insurance, instead they kept saying it was my insurance's fault for paying what they charged. Michelle Messina never called me back after several days, so i came back in AGAIN in person, asked to have her call me again, or I would send my complaint to their headquarters, and post their illegal actions online, which is why I am doing this. Obviously, she never called me back. What they did is ILLEGAL, and I am turning them into the Better Business Bureau and hope to spare everyone else in the area from having to have money stolen from them as it was stolen from me. Glasses and contacts are expensive enough, you don't need to work with a company so blatantly predatory and unapologetically. read more

This store is dreadful to do business with. I just spent over an hour on the phone trying to relay basic information about my prescription to them. I had to call back once, and trying to speak with my original associate was like trying to pull teeth. I was on hold FOREVER, and they never even came back in on the phone to let me know I was still on hold. Had to hang up and call back TWO more times with the same horrific runaround. These people obviously do not value my time or my business. VERY unprofessional. Save yourself a ton of time and aggravation and go elsewhere for your glasses. These people are a joke. read more

I've been going to this Visionworks for years and was hesitant in returning. I'm so happy I did they have a brand new staff the manager is great! I worked with Juan he was patient and super friendly while I was super indecisive picking out my frames. Overall my experience was great I loved the doctor and the rest of the staff was great as well. From start to finish best Visionworks experience! If I could give a lower review score than "1" I would. I have never had a positive experience coming from Visionworks at Yorktown and after this past week of trying to order my contacts I WILL NOT be a returning patient. Besides the lack of care the employees show for their patients and all of the absurd amount of waiting I have had to do EVERY time I have come to Visionworks, every time I attempt to order new contacts there seems to be a problem. This time while ordering my contacts through a third- party company I have had my order cancelled 3 times by Visionworks because of multiple different reason, all of which did not cohere with eachother. The first time, when the third-party company tried to call and confirm my prescription Visionworks had actually told them they had no file that I was a patient there. I have been coming to this store for 4 years so you can imagine how frustrating hearing that can be, but I figured it was just a mistake and we would be able to clear it up relatively simply... I was wrong. I called V.W. to confirm that they do have me on file and when I inquired as to why they would say I wasn't on file all I got was "How am I supposed to know?". However much I wanted to be rude back, I stayed calm and collected because I would hate to be in their shoes with some crazy customer yelling at me. However, now, retrospectively, I wish I wasn't so polite. I hung up and had them reorder. I assumed since I had called and told them what was going on they would try and fix it so it wouldn't happen again, but it did... actually two more times. Each time V.W. had a different excuse as to why they cancelled my order. The second time they had said I did in fact have a prescription on file, but that it was expired; not possible I just had an exam done less than a month ago, and then the third time V.W. had said that I had the wrong prescription information on my order. It wasn't until a 6th phone was made, keep in mind I have had to contact both V.W. and the third-party company each time there was a discrepancy, where I made Visionworks call the third-party company while I was on the line to tell them I had a current prescription on file and that my order was correct. The entire time the associate from V.W. was being rude, hot headed, and disrespectful to me making everything seem as though it were my fault. To be honest, it just sounded as if they were trying to prevent me from ordering contacts from a company other than them. Very scummy Overall, never had a good experience, the staff is rude, they treat you like $$$ instead of as a patient, and they are very unreliable. I would strongly suggest you look else where when looking to get an exam done or order lenses, frames, or contacts. Don't experience what I had to! read more

I got good customer service from Laura the sales girl she helped me look for the perfect glasses for me, she was very friendly,professional and efficient. Thank you visionworks will be returning! The experience I had was appalling. I called and was going to be about 10 minutes late and the woman over the phone told me don't worry I have a 4:00pm appointment take your time. I then arrived at 3:55 for that appointment that was moved up as she requested only for them to tell me that they cancelled my appointment the girl didn't move my appointment up and now I could not be seen. I went in with the intention of spending 600-700$ on a pair of glasses because mine had been lost. I will never come back. The women were rude and unhelpful. They didn't even ask the doctor if he/she would help us. Absolutely horrific experience. Would have been nice to have a little customer service even helping to find a pair that looked nice while my boyfriend and I walked around the store clueless with several hundred pairs of glasses to try on. I went there tonight. Need new glasses. No big deal. There was a buy one get one free thing, so I figured this was the perfect way to get the perscription sunglasses I've been wanting. I spend about 30 minutes going through frames. Found a pair for the regular glasses and picked out a pair for the sunglasses. The lady at the counter started talking about how the glasses come in a package. Seriously, I'm thinking it has something to do with packaging. Long story short, she tells me the glasses are $650. I'm thinking that's fine, they will subtract the cost of the sunglasses since they will be free and I'm looking at something like $325. Wrong. Very, very wrong. The one pair of regular glasses is $650. Turns out the package she was talking about was the lenses and a whole lot of extras I didn't want like UV protection, scratch protection, zombie protection and I don't know what all else. I tried to explain that I didn't want all that. She told me I had no choice, if I wanted the frames I HAD to buy all that stuff. Bottom line, I walked out. What a scam. read more

On my first visit to Visionworks I was completely satisfied. Exam went well and Sean, the person I dealt with picking out glasses was helpful (or so I thought). Promotion was buy 1 get one free. When he asked me about all the extras that he added to the price I said no. So he very generously said was how about if I take 40% off. I guess it sounded too good but I, of course, said sure. I went to pick up my 2 pairs of glasses today. However, they only had 1 pair of glasses for me. I was not happy. They explained that by taking the 40% off I was only entitled to 1 pair. Sean forgot to mention that!!!!! Needless to say it was not what I wanted to hear. And, of course, Sean wasn't there to explain anything to me. What really interests me is how did Sean know which pair of glasses I wanted if I was only going to get one pair!!!!!!!!! I made my feelings known to them but they didn't seem to care. They did credit my account for the cost of the glasses. I will not be going back to that Visionworks or any other one. Customer satisfaction is apparently not a concern to them! read more
