You'll find Visionworks at the Scottsdale 101 shopping plaza. I visited Visionworks to see their inventory and ask a few questions. We are getting very close to ordering a pair, or possibly two, of glasses. I wanted to understand if they would take outside prescriptions, use old frames, and how long it would take to fill the prescription. The staff here were very helpful and answered all my questions. The glasses were organized by gender and shape. Glasses on the lowest level or the least expensive and went up from there. The prices were labeled clearly so that there was no question needed. It takes about two weeks to fill a prescription order. For their glasses you pay full price on one and the second pair is 50% off. The only problem was they did not take our eye insurance. While the eye insurance is minimal, every little bit helps when you need glasses with specialty requirements. Shared parking lot. read more

I went into this location to get a simple sunglasses adjustment done, and the employee (Kenny) who helped me went above and beyond. He spent time carefully adjusting my sunglasses, having me try them on multiple times after each adjustment to ensure a proper fit, and cleaned them meticulously afterward. He even adjusted and cleaned two more sunglasses for me. He was so friendly and gave me some great Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant recommendations while we chatted. They really handled the entire situation poorly. Told us the prescription glasses would be ready within 1 week. Then they called to say, it's not possible to do it in the material and would cost extra for a different material. So, went ahead and ordered that. After 1 week, were told, even that's not possible in the frame. They never informed VSP and hence had to hold on for long hours to get that sorted when we tried to place another order at another vision center. Totally irresponsible way of doing business unfortunately. Wasted 2 to 3 weeks in all this. read more

Very awful services. They not know much about glasses and almost all the them are same styles. When I had eye exams that took 10 minutes. Way too fast! Most places I went in past that eye exams usually lasted 20-30 minutes. Very rude service that I was there first and not bothered stay with me walk through RX glasses to buy. My husband and I went together and had such a great visit! Everyone was great and we really liked the doctor (Dave). The 2 people (sorry forgot names!) who took our details were really great too and the girl who took our eye exam was actually that best I've ever experienced; very professional! They messed up my order then tried to fix it later. I ordered contacts for me and my daughter and they got the oders switched up. I called about it and nothing but rudeness until i got rude back. Then no one wants to apologize for their mistake. One rep who put me on hold said: She just want to vent and i dont have time for this. This location is ran by a bunch of knuckle heads who don't know what the heck they are doing. The worst customer experience I've ever had dealing with contacts. They sold me a bad box of contacts that irritated my eyes and refused to let me return them, they charged me for two boxes so I tried to return the other UNOPENED box but ran into issues because it was covered under my insurance allowance. They charged me $120 on contacts I can not use. Every time I have gone into their location there has been extensive wait times EVEN WITH AN APPOINTMENT! I will not be going to Visionworks ever again and I highly suggest you don't either. read more

The Dr is great, the rest of the staff, not so much (outside of Pam, who I usually deal with). I've been going here for years and every time they tell me they don't accept my insurance and after sitting there forever, they end up confirm they do. They also seem to have little knowledge on what insurance covers and what it does not. They should be walking me through it, not the other way around. I had a friend with the same insurance (we work for the same co.) get glasses a week before me and was charged $300 for glasses that were less then half the price as mine. I got two pairs, more expensive, and paid a third of what she was charged. She was told prices went up due to covid. When she went back with me she was told in fact that was not the case. After picking out my glasses they said they couldn't order them because they needed to get with my insurance again but couldn't get ahold of them, that was days ago and I haven't heard from anyone. I've tried calling multiple times and sat on hold for an extremely long time before giving up and hanging up. There were also multiple pairs of gasses that I picked up that had a typed $ amount crossed out with a higher $ amount hand written in, sketchy. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. I took the time to call and fax in my prescription. Even though my exam was at a Visionworks they don't transfer into to each other. Not a big deal, inconvenient, but I still wanted to order contacts. The gentleman who helped me said he would call me back so I can place my order as he had people in the office. He confirmed he received my fax. No call back ever. So clearly they pick and choose when they want business. Maybe my order wasn't large enough to where it was important to call a customer back who took time to print and fax over prescriptions they should have called and requested from VISIONWORKS where I did my exam in Tempe. Made my first appointment here for a routine eye exam on a Saturday afternoon. The whole process was fast and efficient, without feeling rushed. The office staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, from checking in at the desk to the first part of my vision tests. Dr Patel did my eye exam, and he was very friendly as well. Also one of the most thorough eye doctors I have ever seen, in terms of his attention to detail and providing in depth explanations and education on what he was assessing and any changes he made regarding my prescription. I had never been to this office prior to this appointment, but I will absolutely return based on my experience today. read more

So the employees were rude from the start. They then asked me for my name and the name of my 6 year old daughter because they told me if they did not write her name down and check her temperature that she was not allowed to walk around the store with me (I wanted to leave the store at this point). Then the employee told me I had to walk around with a bin and put every pair of glasses I touched in the bin. Then If I actually wanted to see what I looked like with the glasses on and no mask (of course I do!!!) that I would have to go outside, take mask off, look at glasses, come back in the store, put mask back on, then decide if I like glasses or not--without touching other glasses. Ok, so if I go into a business and they prefer their customers wear a mask/distance/etc. I will be respectful of this. But these rules that they have put in place are not reasonable when it is a shop that sells items which you need to try on and see your full face! Ridiculous rules plus the rudeness of the staff completely turned me off and I decided to leave. All I wanted to do was find some glasses that look nice on my face and there is no way this could be accomplished. I will not be shopping there again. Went to Costco instead--tried on all I wanted without a mask and with friendly staff. So easy, and found a perfect pair in 20 min. read more

The other pair they need to research on it whereabouts. I went in twice over the last two weeks and gave them my number to call. So far NO one has called me and you can't get anyone on the phone. My experience with Visionworks started off poorly and continued to get worse. First, their location in Google maps is incorrect, and whoever oversees their online marketing hasn't bothered to correct it. If you follow the directions, you'll be taken to the Harken Theatre at the exactly wrong end of the mall. They are located in the opposite end, in a corner of the mall that is easy to miss. After searching for 15 minutes, I stopped looking and called them on the phone. Surprise, they don't answer! I drove the entire mall, down every path, before finally finding them. Happy to have have found them, I walked in a few minutes late due to the obstacles I've detailed. Upon arriving, I apologized for being 3 minutes late and was told to sit down and wait for the receptionist. I did so. After waiting for over ten minutes, I got to the front of the line. When I checked in, I was told that because I was 10 minutes late, they'd have to reschedule me. I explained I arrived about 2 or 3 minutes late and then had to wait, but the young girl impatiently responded that they didn't care what happened and I could not get an appointment today because they were booked. I felt she was dismissive and rude. I asked if I could talk to a supervisor and she told me, in the most condescending voice, that they were too busy to talk with me. Never before have I been so rudely treated by someone posing as health care professionals. This chain of optometrists is systematically flawed and simply doesn't care about their patients. They don't care about making it easy to find them, they can't be bothered to answer the phone and the managers are far too busy to talk with anyone. Go elsewhere and find professional care for your eyes. You deserve better and so do I! read more

Selection is vast but limited at the same time. They offer a lot of frames but not a wide variety of manufactures. Staff is always nice and they certainly do a good job with customer service but I don't ever seem to find anything there that I like. read more

I was in dire need of new contacts. After being on hold for 2 days, I was finally able to contact someone (it is nearly impossible to get someone on the phone). Then, they send the prescription to the wrong fax number, causing me to have to wait on hold for another full HOUR just to have a simple prescription sent. Having to wait on hold for that long to have a simple question like "where was it faxed to?" is absurd. I am so done with Visionworks there is always something that goes wrong every time I try to order or set up an eye exam. Just terrible. And this is coming from someone who has used Visionworks for 11 years. Do better. read more

But to my surprise everyone was really nice, nothing exaggerated but they were all genuinely nice people. The male older doctor is sketch. Made a big deal about a health concern I've been told about before and then hands me a business card to buddy do his even though I told him I've been to specialists. When I asked him questions he would cut me off mid sentence. It seems he has different intentions... then at the end he acts all nice in front of the front desk people. Weird man. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! We actually walked out of this location before our appointments because of how rude and unprofessional the back office technician was. We showed up 15 min early as requested for our "first appointments" with Visionworks and the friendly front office guy attempted to help us until he was rudely interrupted by the back office technician (believe her name was Tracy). She told him he needed just send people back to her. We proceeded back there for her to be rude and inform me the reason they ask for insurance upfront is so "they don't have to wait and try and verify it while patients are there". I offered to call myself and was told no she HAD TO DO IT. I didn't have an insurance card because it's new for us which I explained when I booked the appointments. She rudely informed me we "would just have to wait until she had time" because she was busy with other patients. At this point it was already 5 min past our appointment time so I am not sure why the guy upfront couldn't finish helping us. But we sat down while she started with the lady that I assume had an appointment 15-30 min before us. She started the testing on the patient when a guy and his two kids came in to check status on their contacts order but the boy needed to use the restroom, when the dad asked about the bathroom because his kid needed to use it she rudely said "are you a customer here" (now mind you we were in the back of the store they would have walked past 2 other people to get to the area we were in PLUS there were several other places in the are he could have gone if he wasn't a customer and last he was a kid that needed to go to the bathroom)......she then proceeded to tell this gentleman that his daughters order was not in and that they "always" call when contact orders arrive. After she could see his frustration she said she would double check but she had "other" patients to do deal with first because she was dealing with a mess, it was only her 2nd day in that store she informed him. Then the other tech came back asking a question and she rudely snapped at him and said she would handle it and that's why things were all messed up because too many people were butting in. You could DEFINITELY feel the tension between the employees which made it extremely uncomfortable. She then goes back through some drawer and finds this guys contact order but he can't leave with them because she has to show the daughter what to do, but informs him again that she still has other patients to do with (which she was making NO progress with)......So now it's close to 5, she still hasn't dealt with our insurance which means we can't see the dr yet but she gets a phone call which appears to be her manager on the phone as she referred to him/her as "boss".....she proceeds to complain for 5-8 minutes to "boss" about much of a mess this location is, how she isn't going to have time to do this or that, the appointments are all jacked up, she's not going to have time to place the contact order all the while you have 3 patients sitting in front of you WAITING ON YOU TO DO YOUR JOB!!! It was so unprofessional of her to sit and complain about her co workers and no help the customers in front of her that I finally got up, looked at her and said you can take us off your books, this is absurd and we won't be back. She chucked and told her boss "well that patient just walked out"....yep sure did ! I won't give my business to a place that A. Doesn't value their customers and B. Allows an employee to speak to their fellow employees in that manner. As I left I asked the guy upfront for name and my family and I exited the premises with another family who had been there since 3! (By this time it was after 5). The mom commented on how unorganized she was and how rude she was as well, she also said it felt very hostile in there and mentioned the dr on duty seemed frustrated as well. I understand people get busy and have to clean up messes left behind from their fellow co-workers but do it in a professional, civil, respectful manner and talk to your "boss" after you have taken care of your patients. I did call the location in Paradise Valley and spoke with the Regional Supervisor who was helpful but this isn't in his territory. Anyhow - we will NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS LOCATION, and maybe not a Visionworks ever!! read more

I've bought four pairs of eyeglasses here because Pam is the best at helping me pick out frames. Without my glasses I can't see the frames well enough to determine what I like so I trust her. Every time I get lots of compliments on my new glasses. When I arrived, there was a mixup with my appointment day. However, the staff was great and they got me in right away anyway. Dr. Lad was the best! She took her time, was very friendly and professional, and explained everything. She even gave me some tips I had not heard before. read more

This place is not a real eye wear store. Avoid people like this at all costs!!! Go to a real eye professional. Came in to get a screw replaced and buy some replacements to have on hand. Told the woman I didn't care what they charged...it's a $1200 pair of glasses. The woman said they would never sell a screw. Going to head to the Quarter and pay a few dollars for real service. (My family has been in the business for 30 years...I just thought this was handy and don't begrudge paying for service and convenience) Customer Service Fail!!! read more

I want to compliment Visionworks for the excellent service given to my wife this past year. It did not start that way when a new employee took my wife's eyeglass order last February. The glasses were delivered with an incorrect prescription, and the progressive bifocal adjustment positioned incorrectly on the lenses. She had double vision when wearing the glasses. After a trip back to our ophthalmologist, he marked the glasses and contacted Visionworks directly. The Visionworks team (with experienced personnel now) stepped up and immediately corrected the issues. Throughout the year, she has come back for minor fit adjustments, and each time the staff has helped. We especially wish to compliment Marv; he is always, polite, courteous, and eager to help. We will return, but will request experienced support in the future when working with progressive bifocals. Thank you, Visionworks. read more

I just moved to Scottsdale from Orange County in Dec 2018 and needed to find a new eye doctor. Visionworks came up on my google search so I tried them out. I've been very happy with the services and professionalism I've received from the doctors. Especially from Tracy the receptionist. She always shows the best in customer service. For someone who oversee sales and marketing for my company, receiving excellent customer service is very important to me in choosing any place of business for services. Booked an appointment online for 4:45pm, was called immediately to say there was a glitch in the system and that they can't do 4:45 so I asked to do 5:30 because that was another available appointment but apparently that's the time the doctor "cleans the office and closes up" even though they say they're open until 6pm. Clean up after you close or close at 5:30pm. I've escalated this to upper management and do not intend to use Visionworks from now on. This receptionist or this doctor are clearly just looking to go home early. Just sad read more

The staff and doctor are super friendly! They were great in answering any of my questions and very helpful. But oh my GOSH, it is nearly impossible to get ahold of anybody at this location. I needed to pick up my trials and due to COVID-19 you have to call ahead and let them know when you're picking up but I was literally on hold for over an hour and still could not get through after a few more attempts. I had no choice but to just show up. A few weeks after that, I called to order my contacts and was told that the doctor was not in and they would call me back. They never did. More recently, I tried calling back but I never got a hold of anybody. It is incredibly frustrating. After I get my contacts ordered and delivered I will not be revisiting this location. :( read more

I felt well cared for with my vision needs at this location. I had both my eye exam here and purchased my new lenses and frames. They were willing to just put new lenses in some frames that I had purchased just a few months ago. Usually places like this prefer and push you toward new frames. That being said, I'm sure I'll buy a new pair at some point or two this year. Gotta keep my look fresh! The only problem I saw was that they were far busier than the staff could handle. I don't guess there is room for more staff as there is limited fitting stations, but it sure is frustrating when so many people are getting restless waiting to pick up their new frames. read more

This was worst experience I have had. I came a week ago to get glasses and my insurance covers majority. Last year I picked out similar glasses and only paid $90. This year was over $300 and I made a comment and was told everything is more expensive this year. I paid and left quickly since I was late for my next appointment as had been in there 90 mins and the manager that did help me was more occupied in doing her other tasks then helping me. Today went and picked them up and my best friend came with me. We have the exact same insurance and her total came to $90. I questioned mine and was told it's because I got the elite non glare and there was a higher charge for my lens. The only thing I requested was a polarization for my sun glasses and blue light on my regular. The manager that helped me was working today but never stepped in to try and help. I love the doctor here but will never be returning. I was "upsold" on a service that was never told or requested. read more
