Made a rush order for contacts, 3 weeks later we are still waiting. First time I called they couldn't find the order said they would call me back, they did not call me back. Left a message again. Called again sat on hold for 30 minutes and he says the first order didn't go through, so he ordered them again yesterday. We will not get them in time for my daughter to pay in her game now and glasses are not allowed. HORRIBLE customer service. For years, I went into the Paradise Valley Mall to see an optometrist and to order glasses. When it became Visionworks and moved across Cactus Road, I followed along. While I wish my vision insurance was better, I have had positive experiences at this Visionworks location with the customer service, glasses ordered, optometry appointments, and overall experience. I have found it easy to schedule appointments even for the next day to meet with the optometrist though it has been a bit annoying that the online system requires anything I sign online to be signed again in person. I recognize that this isn't specific to this Visionworks location but the entire system. The reminders online are helpful, and I typically find myself with a relatively short appointment to meet with the optometrist, who is very knowledgable, helpful, and caring (similar to his predecessors over the last 10+ years). I have had a number of questions about my insurance last year and again this year. I have found that by sitting down with one of the associates, I have been able to learn a lot about what my insurance provides (and doesn't provide). They have been patient with me last year and this year when I have asked questions when they could certainly have just passed me along to another associate. When I have been ready to find a pair of glasses, associates have been willing to team up to show me different pairs of glasses got try on and then to answer questions about frames and lens and any special requests from transition lens, flexible frames, no-scratch lens, and more. I have also learned from the associates that sometimes the available coupons are better than insurance. I was at Visionworks today and found that using my insurance or a 50% off coupon came out to only about a $20 difference. I found that I had recently received a 50% off coupons on frames/lens though just after leaving, I came across a 60% off coupon online. My husband had fall and bent his glasses. We purchased them from this location less than a year ago. The manager didn't want to try and fix them. She said they might break. What poor customer service. We have been going here a few years. Like the optometrist a lot, but not impressed with the eye glass part. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The eye doctor took the time to explain to me why he gave me the prescription he did, and why he recommended a certain contact brand. The ladies at the front desk were so friendly and kind, and they helped me pick out frames! My glasses arrived just a little over a week later, and it was another great experience when I went to pick them up. This was my first time at a Visionworks and I was impressed! Would recommend to go elsewhere. Went in to get my glasses adjusted since they were in-network with my insurance. Manager broke my glasses and followed up with weird (?) petty comments after she broke my glasses like "I should've asked if you bought them here first, I would've said we're not liable" and kept asking how much did I pay for my glasses (I didn't answer her because why does it matter?)... Visionworks is terrible. I like the doctor but he's a contractor who's actually not with the practice. At least I got a prescription to take with me somewhere else. I asked them prior to going in, what will my co-pay be and they said zero for the exam. Then what will the frames be? Zero. For all the B.S. they put into the lens, $599, then insurance pays $212. I asked 3times what's my responsibility for payment after sitting there for 20 mins. I was getting numbers like $40, $0... a seasoned person would say "let me get you a number..." Sales, Sales, Sales. And, apparently they did the billing for it incorrectly for my 2022 claim and then they have since cleared out their entire computer system. My insurance from last year has been contacting me. When I asked for a copy, they said they wouldn't give it to me and I had to call tech-support. The older sales person was very dismissive. She gave me the 800 but I'm positive the 800 is going to have me go back to the store because they processed the transaction. That will be my last trip over to Visionworks for eyeglasses. If I could leave no stars I would. The new manager Darlene is horrible. They have the worst communication and customer service. Made an appointment two weeks ago, to get a call not even 24 hours before stating there are issues on their end. They blame covid but don't consider the restrictions others might have with COVID. Asked for a corporate number twice and was given other store location numbers. The manager after 2 calls still did not know my insurance properly , I would fear to actually go there to purchase glasses. Please take your business somewhere else. read more

At the doctor's suggestion I changed contact brands. The new brand of contacts were terrible. Ripping after a few days and very uncomfortable. I always order 6 months worth so as soon as they were done I called to have the brand changed back to what I had happily worn for 15 years and 1st was told that requires a new prescription entirely and that I would need to come back in for another full appointment. My prescription was only 5.5 months old. I questioned this and they backpedaled (what about those who wouldn't push back?) and then I was told that I still needed to come in or else they wouldn't change the brand of contacts, although the doctor told me at the time "call if you have any issues and we can change it". I have two young children and coming back in for a brand change isn't easy. I won't go to a doctor who holds you hostage. read more

Second time here at this office, why I came back is beyond me, but I gave them a second try since we were seen there before NEVER AGAIN! Their customer service is TRASH!! I make the appt online, no where online does it say the office moved. Was given a call about my benefits never once did they mention their office has moved. Go to my appt today they have moved, so I call what any person would do! The female who answered the phone was rude!! I asked her where the new office was, several times she goes to tell me about some McDonalds,, I don't eat that trash food, and then talking about a stop sign. After I tried to tell her 4 times I was not in my car but in the mall.. she went on to say they moved .. well duh I am here I see that!! The customer service of listening is still trash! So I cancel .. but of course the kid wants his appt. so we go the older balding guy at the front desk was just as equally rude. When I explained what happen .. no compassion or anything .. cut me off mid sentence as well and then proceeds to write down a patients name that is not even my sons!! As someone who generally does not love any routine appointments (I imagine like most of us), I left this visionworks really impressed with how well it was run and the quality of employees there! I Used this location for my routine annual exam and new set of frames since my insurance changed and Visionworks is a preferred partner of VSP. The exam was efficient from check in, testing, and then consult with doctor who looked me in the eyes and listened well. Then, one associate walked me through what I was eligible for under my insurance - he was pleasant and knowledgeable. I was passed to another employee to help me pick and fit the frames. I like to browse alone, and once I mentioned I needed a minute he got the hint and let me do my thing. White I was doing that, I noticed my associate was working with an elderly woman looking to have her frames adjusted - she wasn't buying anything and I think felt a bit silly about not being able to fix the problem herself. The associate was able to put her at ease easily and treated her with kindness and respect. When I went to have mine fitted, I felt the same - he could've rushed through the measurements to get me out fast or upsold every feature but he didn't. It was clear he takes pride in his job and wanted to make sure the frames were right. Overall, I felt the whole process was efficient and every employee was knowledgeable, communicated well, and pleasant. Hands down the best customer service I've had post-pandemic. That male associate (I believe Bernard) really went above and beyond for me and others in the short time I was there. read more

Appointment 10.25.22 - This is a heads up for sane people who believe the "Pandemic" such as it was promoted is over, and that mask mandates, as ridiculous as they were scientifically, have been put to bed. Except not at the Visionworks Village Square II apparently. Look, whatever makes you feel safe OK, but mention 'masks required' up front when you call me to get insurance info. or put a sign out front so I could walk away from the silliness. Don't sucker me into getting all the machine diagnostic tests then hand me a mask for the exam room. I drove from our summer home in Show Low to get this exam and it was a total waste of my time. The Optometrist there, Michael Drabinsky, was decked out in a tight fitting mask and a plastic face shield. No other staff wore masks and there was no sign on the door stating that masks were required to be examined.(or maybe I need my eyes examined! :-) Now its Mikes prerogative to suite up as he wants to feel "safe', however it was not until I had completed all the diagnostic machine testing that the assistant handed me a mask and said I had to wear it in the exam room with the Optometrist. What? Now I would think there are customers who would rather not wear a mask, but having already taken the time to do the initial testing just comply if only to not waste the visit. I expressed my displeasure to the assistant, and planned on having a spirited dialogue with the optometrist as to why, since he was all suited up for The Plague, I was being required to wear a mask. I wanted him to walk in and see me bare-faced, and ask him why he thinks a flimsy mask inhibits the spread of a VIRUS. I had a career working in hospitals and it's like thinking a fence can stop mosquitos from entering your yard. What made me walk out immediately however was that the nice young assistant became nervous that I might upset Michael by mentioning my displeasure. She said 'perhaps you shouldn't mention the mask thing to him.' So it really pissed me off that this poor girl was warning me to just shut up about it. So, soon after she left I walked out of the exam room. I was not going to give them my business. And guess what? There was the mask-less assistant and the optometrist huddled over a client file. Again, WHAT?! I need to wear a useless mask behind an exam machine but you're OK huddling up with your bare faced assistant? I said "I'm not wearing a mask." And left. read more

Bought a Lacoste prescription eyeglass. When it was time for pickup the mgr didn't want to give me the Lacoste case. Had to tell him it was my second purchase from them. Last was when they were still inside the mall. He said oh we don't give you the original case but let me see. He found one but no Lacoste cloth like my other one. And he said yeah those are gone quick? Huh? I asked him why? I bought a Lacoste and your giving me a generic case and now there's no cloth the cane with it? Ripoff. Hello. Your company is the worst. Let me tell you a quick story about my experience. I went in March to get my contacts at Visionworks Paradise Valley Mall, Scottsdale AZ. Because of COVID the store shut down and I never received my contacts. I have called the support line so many times. No one talks to you; you just leave a message and they call you back at a random time and day. And if you miss that call, they never call you back. So I have missed the calls and had to leave another voicemail. Finally today I had it. I called a local store (info below) and talked to the manager. He said the best he could do is comp me 6 months of contacts after I come in and take another exam at my expense. I counter and said that he should pay for the exam since your company inconvenienced me for over a year. He said "No". This tells me this company does not care about their costumers. I will never go back here. This company should be ashamed of itself. FYI I recorded the phone call and I'm going to be sending it to news stations and post it everywhere I can. I decided to schedule my Annual Eye Exam with VisionWorks at Village Square (Cactus, south of Tatum) because it was convenient to my home. My appt was at 10am and they said to arrive 10 minutes early. I arrived at 9:45am and the door was locked. I could see the Staff inside but no one opened the door before 10am (they told me to arrive 10 minutes early for paperwork). I had asked how long the appt takes, I was told about 20 minutes so planned on 40 then had a meeting across town. Check out ladies were quick to take my money and send me on my way if they had any idea I wasn't purchasing today. Check in gals were nice, assistant ok, the doctor very quick. Changed my RX a little from last year. Next day I went to Costco for groceries, checked out the frames, (plus a sale going on) and purchased 2 pair of "workstation" glasses because that was the kind Visionworks suggested and it made sense to me. Picked up a pair on Wed and wore a little that night and the next day some. On Friday morning while getting ready for work, I saw flashes and floaters on the right side of my right eye. Concerned, I made calls to try to get in to an Ophthalmologist but they were all booked or closed so I asked what do they recommend. Since I know the ER wouldn't be able to help, they suggested I call Visionworks, so I did. The Receptionist took a very detailed message and said she would give it to the doctors when they returned from lunch in 20 minutes. I never received a call and it's been almost 4 weeks. DON'T GO THERE, THEY JUST CARE ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER IN MY OPINION. THEY DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOU IF YOU ARE NOT MAKING A PURCHASE RIGHT THEN. read more

Dr. Pick is outstanding. As a healthcare provider in a similar arena (I'm a chiropractor) I'm often surprised at how little other physicians seem to care about their work, their patients and most of all, customer service. Dr. Pick is bright, prompt, efficient and answered difficult questions simply with the use of metaphors that really helped me understand why my vision is so whack. Also, Jeff the very experienced, delightful sales representative fit me in fantastic frames. When we were finished, I could tell he was happy with the style and fit. You won't find that level of give-a-f*** anywhere else nearby. So don't worry, I know PV mall makes is the worst, but Vision Works is the first door on the right next to Sears. Being an ex-Visionworks employee, I'm pretty familiar with how the stores are run. My vision has been stable for the last few years and the lack of a drastic difference allows me to continue using my glasses as back-ups while I wear contacts primarily. That being said, I typically only visit Visionworks to get in for my annual eye exam and I call it a day. This location didn't seem busy upon coming in, though the doctor's office was a bit backed up. I've certainly had to wait longer for other appointments, so this doesn't bother me. I had my exam with Dr. Pick and I'm lucky I did! It's clear he cares about his patients and was very apologetic that I had to wait past my appointment time to be taken back. One thing that I did want to note was that in the past, Visionworks had always called patients a month or so before they were due back in for their annual eye exam. This particular location went ahead and booked it without telling me, after I had already left the mall after my exam. read more

Waited for 45 minutes before leaving without being helped. Only had 1 person working, with 1 trainee. I just wanted to get pricing on lenses. There was only one other customer when i got there, another one came in while i was there and they helped her before myself, and they were stl working with the first customer when i finally left. I have gone here the last 2 years. I got for my annual eye exam. The store is neat and clean. I got there early for my appointment. They took me right in. The exam was quick and the doctor was straightforward with your diagnosis. Then I went to pick out my glasses. They have a wide selection and also good prices. With my insurance my glasses ended up costing $175. I recommend this place if you need an eye exam/ glasses. read more

The entire staff is great! Jeff D'onofrio is my preferred Vision Care Technician and the person who has been amazing in helping me and my family with everything pertaining to our eyewear needs- Starting with the selection process and then walking me through the pricing process. He's always available to address any questions or concerns and he's gone out of his way to make sure my family is properly taken care of and made comfortable through every phase of the process. I talked my Mom in to going to Visionworks on Saturday afternoon about 2pm. When we walked in, there were only 2 customers in the store and 1 left as we walked in. A man uninvitingly asked my Mom how he could help us. My Mom said she wanted to look at and try on glasses (she planned to buy a pair that day, and we already had her prescription). He rudely told her she needed an appointment. He has NO interest in helping us or trying to explain WHY we needed an appointment with only ONE other customer there and at least 3 employees there right then. We won't be back. Went in because arrowhead was booked. Walked in was not greeted just told to go to desk he would be with us in a minute. Took our temp and said ok you can go in. Was looking at glasses when the same rude man comes over and puts. Tray on counter and says if you touch them at all put them in this tray. Walks off . So at this point we decided we would only get the eye test and would go somewhere else to get the glasses. The Dr was so nice that decided to look around. The Staff was very rude and non helpful. Kurt, the General Manager, is the rudest person I have ever met and definitely not a person you want in management at an eyeglass store. He gave me grief for trying on so many glasses and even said to his associates (without a please) ... to "clean those glasses - she tried on almost every pair in the store". I told him that if he wants a sale then I need to try on glasses. I know due to Covid-19 that all the glasses tried on need to be cleaned, but that is not my fault. Something simple, but now that's what I call customer service! I was waking through the mall past this Visionworks and remembered I had a couple screws missing from my main pair of glasses and my sunglasses. The store had been closed for nearly 30 minutes but I noticed an employee within earshot. I quickly asked if they sold glasses repair kits with the intention of coming back another time if they had. The employee Hailey, checked out my pairs and happily offered to fix them! I explained how I could easily return another time but she insisted on taking care of it! 10-15 minutes later she returned with both pairs fixed, cleaned, and much better than before! Sure it was a simple repair but for that to be done 30-40 minutes after they've closed(!!), well that's above and beyond. Thank you Hailey & Jeff. I will definitely be back. read more

I thought I would try Vision Works based on a recommendation from a family member who had a great experience at the Tempe location. I had a 4:30pm appointment today. I arrived in the vicinity on time but was unable to find the store. I called several times but the auto answered phone system disconnected my call several times. On my 4th call I was placed on hold for 10 minutes. I finally found the store tucked away from the street on the back side of a shopping strip. When I entered, I was told to wait to be checked in. By the time someone came to check me in I was "more than 10 minutes late" so I was asked to reschedule. In consideration of the value of my time and the difficulty involved in trying to get to this appointment I will reschedule but it will be with a different vision care provider. I would not have given Vision Works even the one mandatory star needed to post a review. read more

I would give 0 stars if it were an option. I called to set up an eye exam to get contacts AND glasses. My glasses broke recently and I lost my last pair of contacts. I've been wearing contacts for over 15 full years now. I say all this to say, they KNEW I needed contacts and took my eye exam as such. After I get through with the exam, the optometrist tells me that he's making the decision FOR ME that I shouldn't wear contacts and that he will only give me a prescription for glasses. They charged my insurance for the exam, and wouldn't prescribe me the MAIN THING I SCHEDULED FOR. Now, just to go get contacts, I will have to pay for a new eye exam fully out of pocket because they made my health decision for me. My job is out in the sun, in Arizona, doing ROOFING. I have to wear sunglasses to not go blind and quite literally NEED contacts. I only wear glasses at home, because they have a blue filter to protect from screen light. This optometrist has made me go out of my way now to find a second optometrist without a god-complex who will understand that my job could KILL ME if I can't SEE PROPERLY. His response?? "You can get sunglasses with your prescription in them." Absolutely unbelievable and unfathomable. Not only this, I told the optometrist all of this and he didn't care!!! Now this company will lose money denying me service that I quite literally NEED TO HAVE, and thus will go to another doctor to get. Horrible business model, and now I won't even be getting my glasses here!! Not to mention, this was going to be my LAST EYE EXAM ever before consulting LASIK. Now it won't be my last eye exam because I have to go get another one. Thank you for quite literally wasting my time and ruining my day when I was already sick to my stomach dealing with other health issues, and would have been better suited to stay home anyways....So great! read more

I ran out of contact lenses and did not want to wait 2 weeks to see my normal doctor so I went here and everything went better than expected.
